FTP put leaving garbage in a .txt file

Hi,
I'm working with LiveCycle, Workbench ES 8.5.2. I'm doing an FTP put of a file to a server. The FTP seems to works fine, the file is in the server, but the service created some garbage after my data. I tried both transfer mode - binary, ascii - but the problem persists. Any hint ?
ps. I'm sure is the FTP who creates the garbage because I saw the file before calling the FTP put and has no garbage
Thanks

Hello Jasmin,
Thanks for your answer. I finally got it: I changed the File Transfer Mode to ASCII instead of binary and is no longer creating bad characters in the txt file. But the worst thing is that I had already tried this solution before and it didn't work the first time....a strange behaviour.
anyway thanks again

  • Java code to create a new .txt file in FTP server  --- Help

    Hi,
    I wrote a standalone java app which creates a .txt file in my local machine and transfers it to FTP server. But my requirement now is to create a new .txt file with the same content in FTP server itself instead of creating locally with basic java code.
    I'm aware of transfering file from local machine to the FTP server using STOR command of FTP. But i never tried creating a new file & writing content into that in FTP server.
    So, if any one did this before please help me out with source code or any idea ???
    Thank you.

    There's a method where you can write data to a file on the server using an OutputStream, right? Well, instead of writing to a FileOutputStream, write to that OutputStream instead. Remember to close the OutputStream and call the method which says you're finished with the command (I forget what it's called).

  • Reading .txt files and put it into a TextArea

    Hi all,
    I got a problem! I have to make something like a messenger.
    I want to put the written text into a .txt file, after that I have to get the text out of the .txt file and put in into a TextArea.
    I would ike it to to that like this:
    ">User 1
    Hello!
    >User 2
    Hi!
    Now here are my questions:
    1: What is the moet easy way to do this ?
    2: How could i put Enters into a .txt file with Java ?
    3: How could i read all the text from the .txt file and put it into a TextArea WITH ENTERS ?
    Thanks for your help!
    Greetings, Jasper Kouwenberg

    use JTextArea.read(new FileReader(fileName)) for reading.
    and JTextArea.write(new FileWriter(fileName)) for writing.
    The enters should be ok if the user press enter and adds a new line ("\n") to the text area component.
    It will save the enter in the text file and load it correctly back to the text area.
    If you want to add enter programmatically just add "\n" string to the text area component.

  • JPG file - FTP Put File

    Hello everybody, I'm trying to transfer an image file in JPG format using native FTP Put File of LV 2013 .
    The transfer takes place without problems and in the end I find the file on the server, connection and transfer OK
    MESSAGE OF OUTPUT
    221 Goodbye . You uploaded and downloaded 0 168 kbytes .
    The problem is that when I try to download the file from the server locally and view the image is distorted and as the original but with the wrong colors .
    depends on what?
    can you help me?
    THANK YOU

    Was the transfer done in binary mode?  If not it will interpret a 0x00 as the end of the message, and in that case I would expect only some of the image to go over, not all of it but strange colors.  I have uploaded images using these VIs before and didn't have any trouble, but don't have the code anymore.

  • Use proxy to send TXT file (FTP)

    Hi experts!
    I know it's possible to send a xml message by FTP using a proxy (called in an ABAP program). This is very easy.
    I also know that it's possible to send TXT files cyclicly (every hour, for example) for FTP, using XI (or PI) as a FTP server.
    What i don't know is that if it's possible to use a proxy, in an ABAP program, to send non xml files by FTP.
    Is it? How can i do it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards.
    Valter Oliveira.

    Hi again,
    No, the idea is to use XI to send the csv file as an assyn message but i think this is not possible. Proxies always uses xml parser right?
    If I can't do this, I can always schedulle a FTP sender channel to go to the directory and send it, but the idea was to use a proxy to do ti.
    You mentioned "if you will be using XI, then you can not escape from converting it into XML and then FCC to convert it into csv."
    How can i do this? Can i create a xml structure in the sender channel and convert it to csv in the receiver?
    Best regards.

  • Where to put .txt file for easy I/O

    Hi,
    I'm creating a program to run psychological experiments, and I want to make it easy for future researchers to change the lists of stimuli.
    I'm planning on having a set of .txt/.csv files containing the lists, which can be easily modified by anyone. My question is, where do I put them?
    My guess is the easiest solution would be to put them in the same folder as the .jar file, but not to actually include them in the .jar file, as this would make it difficult to edit. So how would I refer to the path name of the list in my program? And, when testing the program as it's being written, should I put the files in the /dist folder that NetBeans created?
    Second question: I want to find and load any and all txt files that may be in the folder (assuming this is where they will go). I won't know ahead of time how many lists there will be. What's the easiest way to do this?
    Thanks!

    Alright, two questions:
    1) To find the files, can I just use some modified form of
    String[] filenames;
              File f = new File(".");
              filenames = f.list();I assume that there's some way of doing the same thing one level up on the directory tree, and then selecting only those files that end in .csv? Is it preferable to use the method that was mentioned above?
    2) I'm still a little confused as to where the files should go. Here in NetBeans, when I use the command above it gives me everything in the very bottom folder, including /dist, /src and everything else in that folder, even though the .jar file itself is located in /dist.
    Is NetBeans not actually running the program from the .jar file?
    When I distribute the code, should I assume that the "File f = new File(".");" will give me everything in the folder where the .jar is sitting?
    [Edit: I've solved #2 myself -- sorry about that. The answer seems to be "yes" and "yes": when testing, I should put my .csv files in the bottom folder, when distributing, I should put them in the folder with the .jar file. I can't do it ahead of time, as NetBeans recreates the /dist folder each time the project is re-built.]
    Thanks!

  • Comparing char in a string to strings in a txt file

    Hi guys, i am dveloping a scrabble application for a project in jvava. Currently, i am trying to work on coding a computer player to play against a human, ive finished all the game logic nd 2 human players can successfully play on the same system.
    My problem is when coming up with the AI logic, i am faced with the problem of how to compare the computer player's letters to the dictionary txt file in order to find the possible words he can play.
    For example, the PC player has the letters A,B,E,G,T,F in his rack, it searches the dictionary and finds words that also contain these characters, so it would return words like AT, BAT, GATE, etc. I have already looke up the Jumble algorithm, but i dont really understand it(im still quite new to java).
    I already have a ditionary class which i put the code below.
    What i want to do now is just to come up with a simple method that takes a string, and compares the chars, and find words that match the char and return them but i dont knw hw to come about it.
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Dictionary
        ArrayList<String> dictionary;
        public Dictionary() throws IOException
            dictionary = new ArrayList<String>();
        public void readInDictionaryWords() throws IOException
            File dictionaryFile = new File("c:/data/dict.txt");    // declare the file
            if( ! dictionaryFile.exists()) {
                System.out.println("*** Error *** \n" +
                                   "Your dictionary file has the wrong name or is " +
                                   "in the wrong directory.  \n" +
                                   "Aborting program...\n\n");
                System.exit( -1);    // Terminate the program
            Scanner inputFile = new Scanner( dictionaryFile);
            while( inputFile.hasNext()) {
                dictionary.add( inputFile.nextLine().toUpperCase() );
        public boolean wordExists( String wordToLookup)
            if( dictionary.contains( wordToLookup)) {
                return true;    // words was found in dictionary
            else {
                return false;   // word was not found in dictionary
        return"";
    }

    Loops...
    You take the first
    then second
    then third
    and etc
    You take the first 2
    the next 2
    the next 2
    etc
    all the way through n characters
    once you have gone through this, then you have to do all possible combinations of characters of 2 through n.
    Here is an implementation of N choose k for k up to 7:
    public class Junk {
      public Junk(){
      public void choose1(String s){

  • Sender FTP Adapter, text mode should convert source file?

    Hi !
    We have a Unix file system where systems and people drop files to be captured by XI. XI runs also on another Unix system.
    We configured the Sender FTP comm channel from XI to use the TEXT mode, to have converted the captured file to Unix TEXT (eol = 0x0A), no matter the format of the file used to transfer the source file to the XI polling folder.
    But we noticed that TEXT or BINARY modes in sender FTP adapter works all the same, like binary.
    What are we doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Matias

    No. to see the difference put a gif and give txt in file adapter you will get an error for the same file u use binary it works.
    their is difference b/w these . if you use special characters like european then you need to use UTF-8 or UTF-16 or bigInidan  if it is binary then you output will junk charaters for these sysmobls

  • How to Send a .txt file through FTPTARGET connector of Integration Broker

    Hi,
    Is it possible to send a .txt file(infact anyfile other than xml format) to a host server using FTP Target connector of Integration Broker. If so can someone explain the steps to achieve it.
    Regards,
    Uday

    Yes, you can do that. I've done exactly that couple years ago.
    If I remember currently, below is a high level of how I did it.
    Read the file you want to send into the buffer using GetString function like:
    +/*A single string containing the entire contents of the file including line terminator.+
    +     After this method completes successfully, the temp file is deleted.*/+
    +&FileData = &FiletoRead.GetString();+
    The function deletes the file so I had to create a temp copy of what i want to send and read that copy instead of the original file. Also, IB will have issues if you are trying to send an empty file. so i did a basic check, if the file is empty then put something in it.
    rem -- IB message will fail if we are trying to send an empty file;
    If None(&FileData) Or
    +&FileData = "" Or+
    +&FileData = " " Then+
    MessageBox(0, "", 0, 0, ("File " | &sTargetFileName | " is empty."));
    +&FileData = "No Data Found!";+
    End-If;
    Next, you need to load the file data that are now in &FileData to IB:
    +&MSG = CreateMessage(@&sServiceOperation);+
    +/* Generate the XML doc. */+
    +&dFtp = CreateXmlDoc("");+
    rem -- &bReturn = &dFtp.LoadIBContent("Some text inside of a file to send through IB!");
    +&bReturn = &dFtp.LoadIBContent(&FileData);+
    Then put XML into the message and publish it:
    +/*put the XML in the message*/+
    +&MSG.SetXmlDoc(&dFtp);+
    +%IntBroker.Publish(&MSG);+
    You might need to load some IBConnectorInfo and override them using your PC. I had to do that to get the password for the FTP transmission encrypted:
    /* Encrypt the password */
    &pscipher = CreateJavaObject("com.peoplesoft.pt.integrationgateway.common.EncryptPassword");
    &encPassword = &pscipher.encryptPassword(&sPassword);
    &pscipher = Null;
    Good luck and hope this helps.

  • What is wrong with my txt file or merge doc?

    I'm trying to merge data from a txt file.  It's for name badges.  I've got the document designed (8-1/2 x 11" Avery 5392, 6 badges per sheet) and connected successfully to my data source.  There are only 4 types of info in the txt file (agency name, state, name, title).  When I create the merge fields for each badge position and click preview, I only get the first record repeated into each of the 6 locations on the page.  What am I missing or doing wrong?  I'm using InDesign CS2.
    I've attached the txt file.
    I've also attempted this with a csv file with and got the same results.
    Thanks.

    I downloaded your sample files, and here is what I had to adjust:
    1, I made the master page a single page; not facing pages. I changed from inches to picas
    2. I made two layers: one for graphics and second for text, above the graphics layer
    3. I put the artwork ai file on the graphics  layer on the master page
    4. I deleted 5 of 6 duplicate text frames on page 1; leaving only the first upper left text frame
    5. I moved that lone textframe to the master page, in the same relative position
    6. Text in that text frame should have been controlled with paragraph styles, BTW, but that is a detail
    7. I returned to view page 1
    Then, going to the DataMerge panel, I turned on preview and also clicked the right-most button at the bottom of the panel to setup the merge.
    All records and Multiple Records per document page
    Then, onto the Multiple Record Layout tab:
    Top margin 16pica
    Bottom margin 3pica
    Left margin 2pica
    Right margin 2pica
    Spacing between columns 1p6
    Spacing between rows 11p6
    Check on Preview Multiple Record Layout
    OK to generate
    So, it turns out your txt file was OK as it was.
