FTP setup problem

Hi going mad trying to get FTP to work
Setup as follows;
Router
created service FTP for ports 20…21 and with port forwarding to the server IPaddress
Workgroup Manager
i) created a sharepoint called FTP (with subfolder FTPuser)
ii) created a user "FTPuser"
iii) set home to the sharepoint
iv) created a group FTPgroup (which FTPuser and myself as administrator is part of)
v) set permissions for the sharepoint owner RW-me, group RW FTPgroup, Everyone none
Server Admin
i) set - Authenticated users see "home directory with sharepoints"
FTP root is left at default location
Finder
connect to server ftp://FTPuser:password@serverIPaddress
Tries to connect with error message
"operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (errror-50)
If I change the FTP settings …user to see"FTP root and share points" I get an error that "could not connect to server because eiher the name or password is incorrect" BTW that has been check a million times.
Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated
cheers

Found the solution
Abandon OSX server FTp service and use the shareware Pure FTPd manager.
Works great and you only need one new user with all sites managed virtually through that user.

  • FTP Setup Problem in DW8

I'm having problems with setting up FTP settings for new
sites that I set up in Dreamweaver 8. I set up all the details
correctly on the Remote Info panel and click the "Test" button and
it comes back as "Macromedia Dreamweaver connected to your
webserver successful" - all OK up to here, I click OK, Done etc.
When I want to FTP the files to the server the "Connect to remote
host" icon (to 2 power plugs) is greyed out and can't be clicked.
The ONLY way I can get it all to work is if I set up all the
site settings (in the same way I do in DW8) in DW2004, then Export
it and Import it to DW8. Although this seems to work every time, it
is an pain in the butt.
Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.
    Using: WinXP SP2, DW8 (8.0.2).

This almost always means that your site is not properly
    defined.
Please go to SITES | Manage Sites..., select the site name,
    and click on
Edit. Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Tell me the
    following -
    Under LOCAL INFO
The contents of "Local root folder:"
    Under REMOTE INFO
    The contents of "Host directory:"
Do you have a testing server?
    Under TESTING SERVER
    The contents of "Server model:"
    The contents of "Access:"
The contents of "Testing server folder:"
    The contents of "URL prefix:"
(You may not see these last 3 items if you have "None" in the
    first)

  • I need to upgrade my 10.5.1 os on my G4/1.25 (I'm having some audio-midi setup problems), but it's a machine that is not connected to the internet.  Do I have any options?  Thanks!

    Friends,
I'm having some audio-midi setup problems on my G4/1.25/10.5.1 machine.  I'm thinking that a routine OS upgrade might help.  However, this machine is not connected to the internet.  Are there any alternate methods for upgrading system software?  Thanks in advance!

OK, what you should do is download the updates on another machine and burn them to a disc.  Start at this link http://support.apple.com/downloads/#leopard for downloads and find, among other things, the 10.5.8 combo updater that works on PPC machines, plus security, QuickTime and other updates.  Going from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8, there will probably be a bunch of things that you should install.  Being off the internet with the machine, you can't have Software Update sort it out, so something might get missed, unfortunately.
My suggestion is this: if it looks like you might need a download, get it onto that disc.

setup problem, windows xp, firefox upgrade to 4 and asked to reboot but did not progress. keeps asking to restart even if I try to remove

    Hi marsano,
Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
    * Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    # Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
    # [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
    # Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • FTP receiver problem

    Hello,
I have read lots of threads for FTP receiver problems wiht overwriting files....
But I am not sure which is the correct solution.
    We have:
    - Cluster (6nodes), PI711  (SP03)
    - a time stamp shoudl be in the file name
    - there is dynamice filename, because first char of the filename must be set from mapping
    - each mesasge must be put in a single file (not APPEND mode)
After few test it seems that files are overwriten.
I tried ADD MESSAGEID, which seems to work correctly, but with dynamic filenametimestampmsgid the filename is to long for the next application.
I saw in a note, that the cluster can be the problem....
Any idea how I can solve my problem?
    Does "use temporaly filename" help?
    How is it used correctly????
    best reagrds
    Werner

    Hi Werner,
In Processing Parameters tab, keep the file construction mode as "Add timestamp" and in the Putfile use" Use Temporary file". This should help you...
Refer the below link regarding Configuring the Receiver FTP Adapter

  • Correct FTP setup

I've been struggling with ftp setup on my os x server. I have it running but not how i want it. I want anyone to be able to download from the ftp server but not upload to it and i dont want people to require a username or password to access the ftp site. I cant see any settings options on the ftp tab of the server app. Is there some command line or am i missing something obvious???

Can you offer downloads of the files via http?  That might be easier.

  • Simple VISA Setup Problem

    Hi all,
I'm having issues working with VISA in LabVIEW. Previously, I've used Peek/Poke VIs (before they were VISA VIs) that allowed me to read and write directly to registers at a given Windows address. I have a new, custom PCI Express board that uses the same architecture that I've worked with previously only this time I'm trying to access the registers using VISA.
As this is my first time using VISA, I'm having some setup problems. Yesterday I got to a state where logically things should work but I still end up getting an error when I try to run a simple VISA Open command (see attached screenshot).
The initial problem I had was I was not able to acquire a VISA resource that opens a session to my PCIe board...it would simply not show up on the resource list. After reading around I discovered I needed to create a custom VISA driver for my board. Once I did that using the VISA Driver Wizard, the device showed up in my list (as seen in the screenshot). I wrote the simplest of all VIs where I simply open that VISA resource, however, the error seen in the screenshot is produced.
I'm pretty sure this is a simple setup issue, but does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi bonhomme,
I see you're having some issues using VISA. It sounds like you're new to VISA, so I wanted to pass along some information that we have availble on this software. This link gives good general information about VISA, and the related links are extremely helpful in finding specific issues.
Thank you for attaching your error. This is extremely helpful in debugging since we can actually see the numbers. There is another forumn that talks about these at this link and at this link.
    Hope this helps you out!!

  • CSS 11501 ftp server setup problem using non-standard port

    Dear Expert,
we would like to setup FTP server over CSS where our member sever use non-std-port to open both control/data channel (i.e. 6370 as ctrl and 6369 as data this case.) but seems we only get Passive mode FTP mode work only but not for Active mode FTP case for data channel establishement for server back to client...is there any professional advise can help on this case...? here is our setup info FYI

Thanks for your confirmation on no prob found in config level 1st..:P..as to save us a lot of time in isolating problem at this level.
What we can notice is seems the data port connection is fail to open  for server back to client....for our general sense..... the flow expected should be:
    TCP session A -- Client:1234 --> VIP:21 --> member svr:6370
    TCP session B -- Client: 5678 <--> VIP:20 <--> member Svr: 6379 [on demand generated between server/client]
but we can only see session B fail  to setup when client side access VIP site on CSS..even we try to put the most standard case as below
    TCP session A -- Client:1234 --> VIP:21 --> member svr:21
    TCP session B -- Client: 5678 <--> VIP:20 <--> member Svr: 20
we still unable to make the Active mode FTP access work either...hence we got no idea on how CSS handle FTP access when it involve services over multiple tcp ports..
and from CSS xlate view...the problem is we can only see what NAT IP that used in CSS connect to client...but no way to confirm for which port for VIP using outgoing to client. neither it is dropped by CSS..nor it is never setup from VIP to Client side.

  • FTP Client Setup Problems

I cannot get access to my web server on my new Mac. I have finally gotten back to working on a Mac, after having to use Windows for work for a long time, but I cannot get ANY ftp client to access a server that I have been accessing for two years. I am truly baffled. I have been using CuteFTP to make passive mode connections, but on my Mac, no luck. I get connection, authentication, PASV mode start, then the whole thing seems to time out while LIST is happening. This occurs with the firewall on or off.
I am working on a Mac Book Pro, on an Ethernet network that has DSL and a Linksys router. I truly seek enlightenment.
Mac Book Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2.13 gHz, 2 gig RAM

Also, I just tested using -A, and no go.
Hmmmm. Okay. Try logging in with the comand line client, and add the "-d" to the two different ftp commands:
    <pre class="command">ftp -A -d ftp.servername.com</pre>for active mode or
<pre class="command">ftp -d ftp.servername.com</pre>Adding the "-d" makes it a little more verbose than normal. Perhaps there'll be a clue in there.
If that doesn't give you any clues, one more thing to try is to toggle the use of PORT/LPRT commands. Once you're connected to the remote server, and before you list the directory, issue this command at the ftp prompt:
<pre class="command">sendport</pre>If I do this on the ftp server I'm connecting to, I get this result (I started ftp with -d):
    <pre class="command">ftp> sendport
    Use of PORT/LPRT cmds off.
    ftp> ls
    ---> LIST
421 Service not available, remote server timed out. Connection closed</pre>which is not exactly the same as your error, but kind of close.
Finally, since it's a laptop, have you tried connecting to the server from another network, like at work or a friend's house? Also, can you log into another ftp server? Perhaps there's a problem on the server end at your web server. It seems unlikely, but it's possible. You could try ftp.apple.com. You can log in with the username "anonymous" and giving an email address as the password. There's not much there any more, but it might be a good way to test.
Finally, are there any messages in the console or system log when you try to log in? You can see them using the Console application from your Utilities folder. Also, if you click on the "Logs" icon in the Console app, you'll toggle a listing of logs and directories. Look under the /var/log listing for the ipfw.log and see if anything gets logged in there when you're trying to connect to your server.

  • How do I use a specific host directory in the ftp setup?

I am reestablishing links in CS4 to my websites after an upgrade from Vista to 7.
I use Go Daddy and the subdirectory capability. I had a difficult time setting up the ftp connection and saw in another posting that the Host directory should be left blank. This indeed worked. The problem is that I want to control access of different designers to different websites that are contained in one hosting account. When I use the correct Host directory in the Site Definition dialogue box as I did with my setup on Vista, I get the error message:
"An FTP error occurred - cannot open remote folder [FileName]/. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem."
However, the file does exist. I have tried various uses of forward slashes, in front, in back, and both, without success. I'm sure there is an answer.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Can you verify that your user account has access to those other accounts?  Is this a reseller account where you have accounts under your own or is this a dedicated box or VPS where the accounts can be in different directories?  Is this a Windows or Linux box
There's a few things that could be going on, but if it ends up being a permission issue Godaddy will be the only ones who can help with that.  But just an example of a path on a Unix/Linux environment, "public_html/".  There is no leading slash but there is a trailing slash in the path.  If you are connecting to a Windows server it could be slightly different, but my only experience with Windows is in a networked/VPN environment so if that is your case I am sure someone else here can help you out.

  • Ftp setup question

sorry if this a repeat question, but i'm stumped. i've set up
a number of sites previously, and never had a problem using the ftp
with dw. my typical setup has been
    ftp host: ftp.mysite.com
    host directory: public_html/
    username
    password
    never a problem.
now i'm trying to set up a site on a new dedicated server
host and these same setting don't work. as an aside, i'm using
cpanel and when i set up the ftp user i noticed the directory is
/home/wwwcoun/public_html/, so i alternated this with a simple
public_html/ but it didn't work. suggestions please. thanks.
    mike

    Try -
    FTP Host - www.mysite.com
    Host directory - BLANK
Can you connect? If you can, tell me what FOLDER names you
    see on the
    remote folder list.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 setup problems

I recently upgraded from CS3 to CS6 and are having some minor issues with setting up a site as well as with certain views.
Site Setup: (first I will explain how I use DW)
I keep all of my customer and my own company sites on an external USB drive in folders named [#Customer sites] and [#Company Sites] respectively. The naming convention is really there just to keep these at the top of the directory listing as access them frequently (the # symbol has never caused any issues with CS3 or previous versions by the way).   I do not ever connect to a remote server nor use any of the built in FTP features in DW as I find they too easily corrupt live websites with the check in/check out feature.  So, each website runs 100% on my local computer (with connections to remote DB servers if necessary).  I have Win7 Ultimate with IIS installed and running and localhost brings me to the IIS7 page as expected (so we can dispel any issues with IIS).  I always set up my testing server to be Local/Network and preview in browser has always worked in the past with no issues.  AS far as moving content to the live servers, I have and always will use a separate FTP client for that (never let DW anywhere near FTP)
    1) The first thing I noticed after setting up a site is that moving files around (images, CSS, js files), DW will not update any of the links in base files like contact, index, etc.  I have removed, re-setup over and over and still no luck here.  I do get the prompt to update but it only ask to update links in [ / ] with no file names.  This is one of the primary reasons I use DW is that I can update links throughout an entire site but CS6 is not working for me here.
    2) Next thing I noticed is that for whatever reason I cannot get 'Live' view to work on even the simplest of web pages.  I get a message that states:  "Dreamweaver could load the file "M:\". The system reported the error: M:\ contains an incorrect path..".   Again, I have re-checked the setup, the paths in the site definition and all are pointed to the correct location.
I built a simple Fluid Grid page to test feature... here are the relevant site definition settings:
    Site name:  FluidTest
    Local Site Folder:  M:\#COMPANY SITES\FluidTest\
    Server name: Local
    Connect using:  Local/Network
    Server Folder:  M:\#COMPANY SITES\FluidTest
    Web URL: http://localhost/fluidtest
Note that I was able to get the Preview in a Browser feature to work once I created a virtual directory under the 'Default Web Site' in IIS but cannot get this to work when I just create it as a new website.  Seems localhost only wants to run under the Default website.   Thought about manually turning sites on and off in IIS but should not need to do this with Win7 as IIS is supposed to be able to handle multiple websites.  I will likely figure out a work around this annoyance.... just though I would mention it as it is somewhat in context.
    Fluid Grid Layout annoyance:
I am sure I am missing a setting somewhere but after creating my simple FluidTest website, I cannot see the Pink Columns in the Grid layout.  After uninstalling CS6, removing all traces of Adobe, and re-installing CS6 I still have this issue.  I have enable all the Visual Aid settings [ View --> Visual Aids ] and still the Pink Column grid is not visible in any of the layouts for mobile, tablet, or Desktop.  Anyone with a solution, please enlighten me.

I know you've used it in the past, but that # symbol is pretty suspicious to me.
Generally speaking DW, and the internet, hate special characters in file paths. Have you tried without it yet?
If you have, and it still doesn't work, I'd reinstall using the Cleaner Tool...
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Adobe can be contacted here: Contact Customer Care
Depending on the time of day, and availability, you may or may not get a Chat feature after narrowing down your question's category and clicking on the blue "Still Need Help" button. You should see a location specific phone number no matter what, once you've gotten to the big blue button mentioned above.

  • SRP527W Setup Problem

I have a Small Business Pro SRP527W (Firmware 1.01.9) which I am connecting to an ADSL service.  I can get this working using the Quick Setup links, reserving IP addresses for my servers and configuring port forwading but there does not appear to be a link for changing the default password.  Every time I log in I am greeted with the Platform Setup Wizard.  If I run this wizard the router stops working, in that I can no longer access my websites, FTP site or remote desktop (they are still shown in the port forward list and still shown as enabled).
Anybody got any ideas?  Either how to change the default password without using the wizard or how to disable the wizard.
    Thanks,
    Brian.

    Hi Brian,
You probably struck a similar problem as myself.
An earlier post https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3113918#3113918 advises logging in as admin/admin and this will allow access to the feature you are missing as well as a few more.

  • Remote Delta link setup problem with Bean / Access Service

    Hello,
I am trying to setup Remote Delta Link (RDL) between two portals. (Both portals same version - EP 7.0 EHP1 SP 05 - are in the same domain)
I already have the Remote Role Assignment working without any issues.
The following have been done successfully:
    1. Same user repository has been setup for both the portals
    2. Setup trust between producer and consumer (SSO working fine)
    3. Producer added and registered succesfully on consumer
    4. Permissions setup on producer and consumer
    4. pcd_service user with required UME actions setup
I am able to see all the remote content in the Consumer portal.
When I try to copy the remote content and paste it as local content, I am getting the following error:
Could not create remote delta link to object 'page id'. Could not connect to the remote portal. The remote portal may be down, there may be a network problem, or your connection settings to the remote portal may be configured incorrectly.
After increasing the log severity, I am able to see the following in Default Trace:
com.sap.portal.fpn.transport.Trying to lookup access service (P4-RMI) for connecting to producer 'ess_int' with information: com.sap.portal.fpn.remote.AccessServiceInformation@31c92207[connectionURL=hostname.mycompany.com:50004, shouldUseSSL=false, RemoteName=AccessService]
    com.sap.portal.fpn.transport.Unable to lookup access service (P4-RMI) with information: com.sap.portal.fpn.remote.AccessServiceInformation@31c92207[connectionURL=hostname.mycompany.com:50004, shouldUseSSL=false, RemoteName=AccessService]
    AbstractAdvancedOperation.handleDirOperationException
    [EXCEPTION]
com.sap.portal.pcm.admin.exceptions.DirOperationFailedException: Could not retrieve the bean / access service to connect with producer
Could not retrieve the bean / access service to connect with producer
Like you can see above, there is some bean / access service which is not retrieved successfully. I am not sure if this is a permission problem on the consumer.
I have checked that the P4 ports are configured correctly (standard - not changed) and I am able to telnet from producer to consumer (and vice versa) on the P4 port.
I am stuck at this point and am not able to find any information on this.
I would really appreciate if some one can point me in the right direction.
    Thank you for reading.

    Hi Raj,
Please check your config of the P4 port on the producer.  Is it really 50004 (check SystemInfo of the producer)?
I do think there's a problem with the P4 communication since RDL requires P4 connection.
Do you have load balanced consumer-producer connection? Please refer to this blog for further details
