Ftps/sftp troubles

I have a couple of ftp client apps on my iPad which are working great except with the servers of my University! (I have no problem to access them from my Macbook with Filezilla or Dreamweaver). I have also noted a weird thing: I can connect to the sftp server (not the ftps) but the files are invisibles! First I thought it was an issue with the iPad but now I'm suspecting the servers... Does anyone had a similar problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

upon browsing other forums i have realized the error
The reason the shell startup files are relevant at all, is that sshd employs the user's shell when starting any programs on the user's behalf (using e.g. /bin/sh -c "command").
--Snailbook
so it was my fault for my careless implementation of fortune in user's bash config files

    Hello again
First off, sorry for confusing anyone with the WYSIWYG reference. Failed attempt at humor. Ah, live and learn.
Can you expound on what you mean when you say: But there does seem to be “disagreement” regarding whether RH supports HTTPS?
If you are only referring to this thread, are you sensing "disagreement" because Willam said you can serve content to users?
Here's the deal. I sort of "read between the lines" with your post and made an assumption and it seems I may have needed to ask you to clarify before tossing an answer out. The assumption I made was based on your statement of: it only lists ftp or http
That made me believe you were referring to the Publish section in the Single Source Layout properties. (shown below)
This dialog allows you to specify a protocol used to UPLOAD your generated content to a server.
What Willam was referring to was the END USERS viewing the content AFTER it has been uploaded.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Oracle AS B2B - Various Features in FTP Adapter (FTPS, SFTP...)

As part of the Oracle AS B2B 10.1.2.0.2 FTP adapter offering following features are supported. FTP Protocol forms part of the Generic Exchange Plugin.
    1. Basic FTP
Identification of Trading Partner Criterion is slightly different for Internal and External Delivery channel, even though identification is based on the "Name" in both of this cases.
    a. For External Delivery Channel.
    i. Identification of Trading Partner is based on the name of the file and the name shoud follow the patterns as nameOfTP_UniqueID.
ii.Identification of Trading Partneris based on the name of the Directory. To enable this it is required to set
oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.allTPInOneDirectory= True as part of tip.properties setting.
    b. For Internal Delivery Channel.
The identification of Trading partner and the Document is based on the name of the file and should follow the pattern as
    TradingPartner_DocumentType_Revision_msgType_msgId_replytoMsgID_extension.xml
    2. FTPS : FTP OVer SSL
Download any of the FTP server which can be configured to FTPS such as FIlezilla. Configure FTP server for FTPS as per the FTP server documentation.
    Oracle AS B2B Configurtion:
The SSL configuration is drived by the value of parameter "Channel mask"
    1. Depending on the mode of data transfer i.e Active/Passive , specify the data port for Active configuration and no data port for passive mode. Control port is there for both the mode and by default B2B considers this to be 21, there is a need to
    mention it for any deviation.
    2. Receiver Channel Mask (Host) : Depending on whether No channel encrypted, data channel to be encrypted , Control Channel to be encrypted or Both control and Data channel to be encrypted specity none, Data, Control or Both accordingly.
    2. Sender Channel Mask (Trading Partner) : Depending on whether No channel encrypted, data channel to be encrypted , Control Channel to be encrypted or Both control and Data channel to be encrypted specity none, Data, Control or Both accordingly.
Refer to the user guide for FTP Transport configuration.
    3. SFTP(New Feature available as part of latest B2B patch # 6353697)
SFTP implementation has been provided for Oracle B2B 10.1.2.0.2 version. This enables B2B to send and receive payload files over SFTP (SSH FTP) protocol.
SFTP protocol support added for both external trading partners and internal applications communications. The naming conventions of the payload files are in-line with File and FTP adapters.
    Proxy support provided (HTTP)
    Authentication Support :
Password based authentication – username/password combination authentication
Public key authentication – authenticating the identity based on the public key
create a key pair using OpenSSL keygen tool and the Public key need to be installed in the server. and the private keys fully qualified file location has to be specified in Private Key file and the passphrase has to be provide in Prive Key Pass phrase.
If the passphrase is present in the FTP configuration, B2B engine considers the password based Authentication else key based Authentication otherwise it is key based Authentication.

  • Receiver File/FTP, SFTP, binary, endSeparator for CRLF ?

We are planning an interface using the Receiver File/FTP Adapter, using SFTP in binary mode.
The SAP PI runs on Unix, the other applications runs on Windows.
Can NameA.endSeparator be used to ensure that every line in this file ends on CRLF?
(As you know, Windows has the habit of ending lines in text files with CRLF - carriagereturn-linefeed, whereas Unix uses a singe LF - linefeed, also known as newline or nl).

Yes it can be done with '0x0D''0x0A' value which represents the CR and LF respectively...
which has been implemented succesfully in our interface...

  • Upgraded to DW CC 2014.1, FTP/SFTP isn't working at all

There's a HostNexus webserver I usually connect to but since I upgraded to DW CC 2014, it only spits back errors. I can connect successfully to the server in FileZilla (using FTP explicit). I've looked through the forum and tried various suggestions but none have worked:
    tried all the FTP modes
--> FTP Explicit: The remote host actively refused the attempt to connect to it. This may be due to 1. destination server name or IP address, 2. port number, 3. server inaccessible, 4. incorrect protocol or settings.
--> FTP Explicit with passive: The remote host actively refused the attempt to connect to it. This may be due to 1. destination server name or IP address, 2. port number, 3. server inaccessible, 4. incorrect protocol or settings.
--> FTP: An unknown error occurred.
--> FTP with passive: An unknown error occurred.
--> FTP Implicit: User limit reached or not authorized to make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data.
--> FTP Implicit with passive: User limit reached or not authorized to make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data.
    reset preferences
    specified root folder
contacted HostNexus, they said to change settings to SFTP, port 4000
--> User limit reached or not authorized to make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data.
    shut down my antivirus/firewall
--> Same error: User limit reached or not authorized to make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data.
made sure not connected through any other program
    uninstalled CS4
    Nothing works.
I really want the efficiency of being able to do everything with DW. What else can I try?

Like I said in  your previous post, please send me your details (Adobe ID, phone number, location) over a private message. Click my picture and use the message option. We suggest that you avoid multiple discussions for the same query.

  • Using secure FTP (SFTP) with XI 3.0.

    Hi,
I must bring a document with SFTP protocol.
Is it possible use SFTP with XI 3.0. What must I do use SFTP with XI. Is it necessary to install some component to XI or it needs some 3hrd party components?
    Thanks

    Hi Cemil,
Right now, XI does not have the feature of communicating with SFTP. You can extend the functionality of the File Adapter by writing some adapter modules to enable it to communicate with SFTP.

  • FTP Socket trouble - need help

I'm not going to pretend that I knew enough about this before I began. My code came from this link:
    <url>http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=54731</url>
Anyway, I understand it know, but I can't seem to get through some of my errors. The biggest problem is that if I don't timeout then the program just hangs. For instance, I do a controlOut and have the timeout set at 2000 ms. After 2000 ms the code moves on to the next step, but it throws a Read Timed Out error. If I have the timeout set at 15000 ms then the code waits 15000 ms and then does the same thing. If I set the timeout to 0 (persistant) the code never moves beyond that controlOut statement.
I'm really confused...please help! Thank you!

Hi Auzlin, i had the same problem, the anwer is, the ftp programs change the ftp port for everyone of the files sended, after you receive (or send) each file, that is cause even if you close the connection, is not fully closed,it goes TIME_WAIT or something but the port is still open, thats the reason you cant receive another one, it needs a little while to close and this cant be controled by the program (or just i dont know how) so, the solution (or one of them) its to use a PASV command after each file, and force the server to change port, you can read that port, and send/receive another file using that port =) hope it helps, if not i cant put some code.

  • FTP SSL trouble

    Hi,
I want to close our plain-text FTP to the internet. Some customers migrated
to a SSH FTP connection. Another one wnats to use SSL-FTP (Explicit)
We are trieing to connect with a explicit connection in passive mode. We've
tried Filezilla and WS_FTP 9.01 as a clint.
We've tried two different Netware FTP servers (SP5 and SP6) on two different
    internet location.
Both servers react the same way. When you connect... the certificate is
offered to the clint. Once the clint accepts the certificate nothing
happens. Listing is not possible. We also tried a clint in the local
network of the SP6 server. Same result. :(
Any info on this? How do I get NWFTPD work in SSL mode succesfully?

What most often causes the symptoms you are describing is the combination
of SSL encryption and passing through a NAT firewall. Most firewalls are
educated about FTP and they watch inside the FTP data for some of the
extra information that gets passed back and forth about IP addresses.
This is one of the few cases where NAT will translate inside the data
portion of a packet rather than just in the TCP/IP headers.
But once you put FTP inside of SSL, the NAT firewalls can no longer see
inside the data an can't translate some of those addresses anymore,
preventing the extra data connections (needed for dir lists and file
transfers) from addressing their targets correctly.
For NetWare FTP Servers that need to do SSL, are behind NAT (FTP server
has private address), and passive data connections are needed, see TID
    3931251.
For FTP clients that need to do SSL and are behind NAT, and active data
connections are needed, you will need to find a setting in the FTP client
which says something like, "use this address for active (nonpassive) data
    connections."

  • FTP/SFTP/FISH (etc) slow file transfer rate over LAN

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem with transferring files over my home network that has been bothering me for quite some time.
I have a 802.11n router which should provide me with the transfer rate up to 150 Mbps (afaik). When I download files from the Internet, 3 MB/s data transfer rate is of no problem.
However, when receiving or sending data over LAN, the transfer rate is much slower (1.8 MB/s).
My rough guess is (after reading some papers on this topic) that TCP protocol is causing this (its flow control feature to be exact), since TCP max window size is too small on Linux by default.
So, setting TCP max window size to a greater number should solve this.
    I tried putting this:
    # increase TCP max buffer size setable using setsockopt()
    # 16 MB with a few parallel streams is recommended for most 10G paths
    # 32 MB might be needed for some very long end-to-end 10G or 40G paths
    net.core.rmem_max = 16777216
    net.core.wmem_max = 16777216
    # increase Linux autotuning TCP buffer limits
    # min, default, and max number of bytes to use
    # (only change the 3rd value, and make it 16 MB or more)
    net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 16777216
    net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 65536 16777216
    # recommended to increase this for 10G NICS
    net.core.netdev_max_backlog = 30000
    # these should be the default, but just to be sure
    net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 1
    net.ipv4.tcp_sack = 1
in /etc/sysctl.conf but to no avail.
So either there is no problem with the max window size setting, or the Linux kernel ignores it (maybe because /proc is no longer supported?).
    Thanks for any neat ideas.

  • SFTP/FTP Proxy Problems - Works for DMZ but not for Internet Hosts?!

    Hi together,
we have a strange problem with our TMG Proxy, some infrastructure informations first
So we have the Client LAN with the IP range 192.168.11.x which is routeable to Server LAN 192.168.3.x but not to DMZ LAN 192.168.200.x.. The TMG is a 2 Node Array, 192.168.200.5 is the DMZ VIP. TMG DMZ IP Adress (192.168.200.5) and physical Adresses have
an NAT relation to one Public IP. HTTPS Inspection is active. We dont use (and dont want to) the TMG Client component.

When i connect to an Internet Host it fails regardless which protocol i use - ftp, sftp or ssh. The error i get is

    Hi Keith,
ok i found out the problem is https inspection is enabled....
    - when i disable https inspection for source, same problem
    - when i disable https inspection for destination, problem solved
the root cause why this worked is we had https inspection disabled for dmz destinations.
there is no direct route relation between the lan and dmz.
why is source exception not working in this?

  • Should FTP on the system be ENABLED for SFTP Adapter to work from BPEL Code

    Hi,
I am trying to SFTP files from server1 to server2. I am getting the below fault message,
faultName: {{http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension}bindingFault} messageType: {{http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension}RuntimeFaultMessage} parts: {{ summary=<summary>Exception occured when binding was invoked. I have configured FTP Adapter JNDI name and other details correctly,
    hostname, username, password, usesftp(true),port(22).
On the server2, the FTP was disabled and was getting the aforesaid error.
But when we enabled FTP on server2, the SFTP started working fine with the same configurations of JNDI.
So, to conclude, Should FTP on the system be ENABLED for SFTP Adapter to work from SOA BPEL Code?
Please give your valuable comments and suggestions.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagaraj Ganapa

Yes, if you are trying to write a file using SFTP/FTP to any machine, a SFTP/FTP server should be running on that machine and there should be a process listening on the correct port(22/21). This is true for any other application as well and not just for Oracle BPEL. You can not send a file to a server using SFTP/FTP when the FTP/SFTP process is not running on that server.

  • Any way to set "active mode" for FTP, or to use sFTP instead?

I have a web host that does not support passive FTP mode.   I need to either set the mode to be "active mode", or I need to use secure FTP (sFTP).  Is there any support for either of these within Muse?

    Hi
By default , Adobe Muse FTP option uses " Passive Mode" , I am afraid its not possible to switch to "Active Mode" or to switch to Secure FTP. Alternatively, you may export the site locally using " Export as HTML " and then you may use third party FTP client to upload the site to your third party hosting using Active or Secure FTP.
Let me know if you have any further query.

Flat file is in a folder - which has to be dropped to the destination. As we have port restriction in our firewall for PI for any ftp/ftps/sftp - we are planning to put Adapter engine in the DMZ.
    Will this work?
Q1. To send a file on ftps  - will we configure File sender adapter with certificates.
I am trying to install certificates on java stack it is looking for password for the private key but on ABAP stack it didn't ask for any key.
The abc company says it doesn't have any password. It could be a reason why https coud not drop files and now want to try ftps / sftp.
It is really frustrating to use PI for B2B. I will not recommend it again to any one. Thanks in advance.

Sender File Adapter? If you using J2SE AE, then from IE to AE, you will need receiver XI adapter. Check the Certificate Management in AE.
SFTP uses keys and not certificates. FTPS exchanges certificates.

PI is a real robust tool for B2B integration. I guess, there are some flaws in the design, that's why you are feeling frustrated.
    Hope this helps.

  • FTP doesn't work, SFTP does work .... ?

    This is odd.
I previously had authenticated users be able to log into their home folder using FTP, but this doesn't seem to work anymore (no settings were changed).
But if the client uses SFTP, it logs in fine.
I'm stumped! Previously it worked fine via FTP/SFTP, and now only SFTP.
Anyone have a similar problem? Any help would be great!

    > If you are asking me how to disable sftp but let ssh work, it can't be done
    Oh, but it can.
SFTP runs as a subsystem to SSH.
If you check /etc/sshd_config you'll find a line near the end:
    <pre class=command>Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/sftp-server</pre>
If you want to run SSH, but not SFTP, comment out this line.
