Since we are on PS Mark Sweep Collector for Old gen, that would mean "stop the world" during the whole time frame and thus pausing application.
Average time for the GC came out to be 15 seconds.
And this is not something frequent - we just had this pattern once. At most we see only a single Full GC going over a period of time and reclaiming memory and taking an average of 6 seconds.
Nothing we could find to correlate these full GCs with the application behaviour.
Do you think it to be normal?As a guess it could be normal if your application is running close to the borderline of using up all available memory. In that case at the point you saw something had pushed it past a certain point, and kept it there, causing the GC to run more ofter.
Completely a guess though.

  • Possible to view quicktime in full screen on external monitor?

    Hey All!
    Im wondering if there is any way to view quicktime movies in full screen (or use front row for that matter) on an external desktop set up us as an extended desktop (as opposed to mirror). This seems like quite a dumb thing to not be able to do.

    This is a problem for most software on the mac, especially games. My experience has been most software uses the primary - in this case the macbook lcd - as its display monitor. There are a few ways to fudge it to force it on another screen, but quite frankly I find that the only way to use a macbook pro and external monitor is with the lid closed.
    This is generally the best solution as the menu bar is always stuck on the primary anyway.
    To use the macbook closed simply wake the computer from sleep with an external keyboard or mouse the laptop and the primary will now be the external monitor.
    The only real downside is how do I now use the isight????

  • Full outer join unexpected results

    Warning, long message - I've searched the forums and found nothing similar. I've cut out as much as possible. We have been given the following schema to work with:
    CREATE TABLE CALLS (
    TRUNKIN VARCHAR2 (10),
    TRUNKOUT VARCHAR2 (10),
    DURATION FLOAT)
    Here is some test data:
    insert into calls values(null, 'a', 3);
    insert into calls values(null, 'a', 2);
    insert into calls values('a', null, 1);
    insert into calls values(null, 'a', 0);
    insert into calls values(null, 'a', 0);
    insert into calls values(null, 'a', 7);
    insert into calls values(null, null, 0);
    This is horribly unnormalized, but basically this table represent phone calls. trunkin and trunkout represent the two ends, and duration is length of a call. While obviously every call has two ends, the nulls above represent ends we don't care about in this example.
    The goal is to end up with data that looks like this. In English, we want the in and out summary statistics for each trunk to be summarized into a single row. (Sorry, these are supposed to be columns, but they got wrapped, so I reposted them as rows):
    TRUNKIN a
    IN_CALLS_ATTEMPTED 1
    IN_CALLS_COMPLETED 1
    IN_AVERAGE_DURATION 1
    TRUNKOUT a
    OUT_CALLS_ATTEMPTED 5
    OUT_CALLS_COMPLETED 3
    OUT_AVERAGE_DURATION 4
    Indeed, with the data given above, these are the results returned with the query at the end of this message. However, when I changed the one non-null trunkin value to null, I got very strange results. First, I independently ran the two subqueries. The first of course returns no rows, the second returns 1 with the same out values above; this is exactly what I would expect. However, when I run the full query, I get **5** rows back, each with just the trunkout column set to "a" and **all** other columns set to null. This makes no sense to me. The 5 rows are obviously the 5 rows from the original data set where trunkout = "a", but I'm not full outer joining those; I'm full outer joining the result of the group by, which only has 1 row. But even given that I'm getting 5 rows back, shouldn't all five of those have the remaining out columns filled in with the values above?
    Here is the query:
    select
    from
    SELECT
    trunkin as trunk,
    COUNT(*) AS in_calls_attempted,
    SUM
    CASE
    WHEN duration > 0 THEN 1
    ELSE 0
    END
    ) AS in_calls_completed,
    SUM(duration)/
    SUM
    CASE
    WHEN duration > 0 THEN 1
    ELSE 0
    END
    ) AS in_average_duration
    FROM CALLS
    WHERE trunkin IS NOT NULL
    GROUP BY trunkin
    ) callsin
    full outer join
    SELECT
    trunkout as trunk,
    COUNT(*) AS out_calls_attempted,
    SUM
    CASE
    WHEN duration > 0 THEN 1
    ELSE 0
    END
    ) AS out_calls_completed,
    SUM(duration)/
    SUM
    CASE
    WHEN duration > 0 THEN 1
    ELSE 0
    END
    ) AS out_average_duration
    FROM CALLS
    WHERE trunkout IS NOT NULL
    GROUP BY trunkout
    ) callsout
    on callsin.trunk = callsout.trunk;

    I am not entirely sure why you are getting the results you are, but I strongly suspect that it is a result of outer joining on null columns. I would write the query as follows to avoid the outer join problem. The CASE statements in the outer query around the average duration calulations avoid the divide by zero error that would occur when some trunk has only in or out calls.
    SELECT trunk,SUM(in_calls_attempted) in_calls_attempted,
           SUM(in_calls_completed) in_calls_completed,
           CASE WHEN SUM(in_calls_completed) <> 0 THEN
                SUM(in_duration)/SUM(in_calls_completed)
                ELSE 0 END ave_in_duration,
           SUM(out_calls_attempted) out_calls_attempted,
           SUM(out_calls_completed) out_calls_completed,
           CASE WHEN SUM(out_calls_completed) <> 0 THEN
                SUM(out_duration)/SUM(out_calls_completed)
                ELSE 0 END ave_out_duration
    FROM (
       SELECT trunkin trunk,COUNT(*) in_calls_attempted,
              SUM(CASE WHEN duration > 0 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) in_calls_completed,
              SUM(duration) in_duration,0 out_calls_attempted,
              0 out_calls_completed,0 out_duration
       FROM calls
       GROUP BY trunkin
       UNION ALL
       SELECT trunkout trunk,0 in_calls_attempted,0 in_calls_completed,
              0 in_duration,COUNT(*) out_calls_attempted,
              SUM(CASE WHEN duration > 0 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) out_calls_completed,
              SUM(duration) out_duration
       FROM calls
       GROUP BY trunkout)
    GROUP BY trunkTTFN

    Hi Guys,
    I have a task to that involves Importing all existing users and their objects in production to the test database without doing a full database import - Please how do i do this?
    Pls i need your help urgently.

    TNS for Linux: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    I tried to import objects and data from a user from a FULL dump file. File was created with the following command:
    server is: SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Wed May 26 15:34:05 2010
    exp full=y FILE="full.dmp" log=full.log
    Now I imported:
    imp file=full.dmp log=full.log INCTYPE=SYSTEM
    imp fromuser=user1 file=full.dmp
    Results: not all the user procedures have been imported:
    SQL> select count(*) from user_procedures;
    the Original
    COUNT(*)
    134
    the current:
    select count(*) from user_procedures;
    COUNT(*)

  • Can not properly view cover flow in full screen in external display

    My mac is the new Mac book pro 15.4 inch screen and I connect my mac pro to external display e.g. Samsung LCD monitor 24 inches.
    The bug is that I can not PROPERLY view full screen (in external display) for some application e.g. iTunes, and Front Row.
    - When I use iTunes, I can not properly view Cover Flow view in full screen (in the external display screen) except the case of mirror display.
    - For Front Row, I can not view full screen in external display but only my mac display.
    However, for other DVD or VDO players, I can view movie on external display in full screen and I still be able to do other works on my mac screen.
    Please let me know how to solve it.

    Many thanks.
    With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

  • Mail wont open says home directory is full. HELP?

    I dont know what happend but i restarted my powerbook today and when i got back to the desktop and tried launching mail it gives me the following message.
    MAIL CANNOT UPDATE YOUR MAILBOXES BECAUSE YOUR HOME DIRECTORY IS FULL.
    You must free up space in your home folder before using mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume.
    what happend to cause this and what can i do to fix it.
    Thanks

    If your hard drive has at least 5GB of free space available, quit Mail first and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
    Afterwards, copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
    Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import all mailboxes available in the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail.
    Select OK and allow the import process to complete and a new Envelope Index file will be created automatically by Mail within the Mail folder.
    After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and are available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and the old Envelope Index file from the Desktop.
    This should resolve the problem.

  • XML Publisher report output in RTF format does not display full page

    Hi,
    We have one XML Publisher report, the output of report in RTF format is not getting displayed in Full Page in normal way (MS Word -->View menu --> Print layout) but we can see full page display when we do MS Word -->View menu --> Outline.
    Appreciate your valuable inputs on this.
    Is this a template issue or any profiles needs to be set.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Do you have any header and footer on your template?
    If you have any header and footer then try to adjust it as of to display full page.
    Thanks

  • How can I change the display of Inbox in my iPad's mail app- so that it takes up the full screen?

    How can I change the display of Inbox in my iPad's mail app- so that it takes up the whole screen, as opposed to just about one third; the other two thirds display the full text of the selected email?

    You can't change the display in the Mail app, if you are holding the iPad in landscape orientation then the left-hand third will be for navigation, and the right-hand two-thirds will be an email. If you hold the iPad in portrait orientation then the navigation section becomes a drop-down section.

    selecting full screen mode makes the document visible, but the toolbars disappear and the print option does not show up on a right click.  How can i print the document and see the document in some other mode than full screen?

    In order to print, you can click the CTRL+P keys to launch the print dialog,
    Regarding the missing toolbar, try clicking the ALT key to shouw the software menu, then look around under the view option for any available toolbar settings,

  • How can I print just a part of the page and not the full page with Adobe Reader v 10.1.2?

    how can I print just a part of the page and not the full page with Adobe Reader v 10.1.2? I need to print a engineering print with lot of information but information is too small in letter size and I don't have a plotter.

    Two ways to print a portion of a page: zooming or using the Snapshot Tool.
    ZOOMING:
    Zoom into the area you want to print.
    Click the Print icon.
    Under "Pages to Print", make sure "Current view" is selected under "More options" (you may need to click "More options" to open it).
    If you aren't satisfied with the preview, try clicking "Fit" under the Size button.
    SNAPSHOT
    Choose Edit > Take A Snapshot.
    Drag a rectangle around the area you want to print.
    Click the Print icon.
    Under "Pages to Print", make sure that "Selected Graphic" is selected under "More options".
    To enlarge the snapshot to fit the sheet of paper, choose "Fit" under the Size button.
    Hope this helps!
