Function in Javascript cannot be executed from Footer Text

Hi all
I created a shared component with name "xx.js" and in my page footer I called the function. When page is run, the function is not being called.
*xx.js*
function say_hello()
     document.write("Hello World");
*Footer text*
<script type="text/javascript" src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#xx.js">
say_hello();
</script> It works fine javascript is directly in the page footer (or) function is removed in xx.js and footer text is <script type="text/javascript" src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#xx.js"></script>
xx.js is loaded to the page when seen using firebug.
Please help me to create a single javascript file for my customizations rather than multiple js files.
Thanks
Kishore

Kishore:
Try changing what you have in the footer to be
<script type="text/javascript" src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#xx.js"></script>
<script>
say_hello();
</script> Varad

  • (New to C# here) What is the best way to return false in a function if it cannot be executed successfully?

    In Javascript or PHP you can have a function that could return, for example, a string in case of success and false in case of failure.
    I've noticed (in the few days I've been learning C#) that you need to define a type of value that the function will return, so you need to return that type of value but in case of failure you can't return false.
    What is the best way to achieve this behavior and is there an example I can see?
    Thank you in advance,
    Juan

    Juan, be aware that returning null won't work with value types, such as an int, which can't be null. You'd have to use a nullable value type. A nullable int would be declared with a "?", such as:
    int? someOtherFunction(int param)
    if(something goes great)
    return param * 42;
    return null;
    And you have to use it like this:
    int? result = someOtherFunction(666);
    if (result != null) // you can also use result.HasValue
    // it worked, do something with the result
    // if you're doing math with the result, no problem
    int x = result * 2;
    // but if you're assigning it to another an int, you need to use this syntax
    int y = result.Value;
    Before nullable value types came along, for a method that returned an int, I'd use a value of something that wouldn't normally be returned by that method to indicate failure, such as a -1.
    ~~Bonnie DeWitt [C# MVP]
    That's something very very important to keep in mind. Can save you from a lot of headaches!
    So if you have an int function and it might return NULL, if you are doing Math with the return value you can use it directly, but if you're assigning it to another variable you have to use .Value?
    Thanks

  • How to do import data from the text file into the mathscript window?

    Could anyone tell me how to do import data from text file into mathscript window for labview 8?
    MathScript Window openned, File, Load Data - it has options: custom pattern (*.mlv) or all files.
    Thanks

    Hi Milan,
    Prior to loading data in Mathscript Window , you have to save the data from the Mathscript window (the default extension of the file is .mlv but you can choose any extension). This means that you cannot load data from a text file  that was not created using the Mathscript window.
    Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this issue.

  • Front-end functions cannot be executed in the background in SM37

    Hi ,
    I have developed a BDC program for Tcode HRUSER . The program is working fine in Frontend but when Executed in Background through SM37 gives a error -:
    "Front-end functions cannot be executed in the background".
    I am not using any function like GUI_DOWNLOAD or anything like that .
    Thanks
    Nikhil Arya.

    Hi ,
    No , the program is not taking any inputs from the user .
    when i am executing the program in background mode it is just showing the messages at the end which i am writing in the program for eg:
    "creating a user for employee 2306328".
    So , only the list of messages comes at the end .
    Thanks

  • Javascript Error while executing BEx querry from browser

    Hi Folks
    We have been getting a number of Javascript errors while executing BEx querries from the browser.
    The various errors that we have been getting are:
    'SAPBWItemCatalog' is undefined
    'SAPBWJSgdo' is null or not an object
    'SAPBWShortCutCatalog' is undefined
    We have already looked at SAP Note 783496 and validated the solution.
    Is there some specific settings that needs to be maintained for this?

    Hi Sandip,
    Just spent 2 hours chasing this one so I know how frustrating it is.
    Solution:-
    Check mime service in SICF - dafault_host/sap/bw/mime - if it's greyed out activate it.

  • Function: I get ORA-04063 if I try to execute from another schema

    Hi All,
    I have a schema named "SCHEMA_A" and in this schema I have a function named TEST" that gets a numeric parameter "ID" and returns a string.
    Then I have a schema named "SCHEMA_B" with a grant on functions SCHEMA_A.TEST. I want to use function "TEST" from SCHEMA_B.
    If I try to execute SELECT SCHEMA_A.TEST(1) FROM DUAL inside schema SCHEMA_B I get ORA-04063.
    But if I try to execute TEST(1) from owner schema (SCHEMA_A) and then again from SCHEMA_B it works. But it works only for parameter with value = 1.
    If I try SELECT SCHEMA_A.TEST(2) FROM DUAL I get again ORA-04063. It seems that to use a specific value for function parameter, I need to execute first in the owner schema and only after that I can execute from the other schema.
    Function code is very simple:
    +CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION TEST(ID IN NUMBER)+
    +RETURN VARCHAR2+
    +IS+
    +l_return VARCHAR2(256);+
    +BEGIN+
    +l_return := 'hello world';+
    +RETURN (l_return);+
    +END TEST;+
    I use Oracle 11g R2.
    Any idea why it happens?...

    I can compile and grant as you did.
    But if I try to execute from a schema different by owner (in your case SCOTT) something like
    SELECT <your schema>.TEST(1) FROM DUAL
    I get an error.
    To fix, I have to execute this function in the owner schema with exactly the same parameter.
    If I execute with a parameter in the owner schema (suc as 1,2 and 3), I can execute also in schema different by owner (in your case SCOTT). But if I try with a new parameter (es: 4) from SCOTT it give me an error.

    thanks ahead
    Eyal

    Hello Eyal,
    Goto transaction "VOPA". For Customer master, Click on Partner Procedure
    Double click on your partner procedure [Example WE: Ship-to Party].
    In the next screen, check if the partner function 'TZ' is defined or not.
    If the same is not present there, insert the partner function. Also, note that the partner function 'TF' would be present there.
    These steps would resolve your issue.

    Gauravjit.

  • How can I check if a function is or is not called from the event listener? in Flash CS4 (AS3)

    Hi,
    I came across a little problem.
    I put an event listener inside a for loop and the for loop inside a function.
    I want the for loop to end as soon as the event listener inside the for loop calls its function.
    Here is the general code for a better picture.
    Code:
    this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, function#1);
    function function#1(event:Event):void{
              if(something is true){
                        for(var i = 0; i < numOfmy_mcs; i++){
                                  this["my_mc_"+String(i)].addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function#2);
    function function#2(e:Event):void{
    //do something cool here
    Thank you for any help!

    kglad wrote:
    that for-loop (if it executes), defines listeners for interactive objects.  that will complete long before any object is clicked.
    Well yes but it does it again and again (frames per second times seconds = number of times it goes through the code if i'm not mistaken), because it is inside a function, and through testing i found out that it works like this:
    Example:
    there are 5 my_mc's in my project: (my_mc_0, my_mc_1, my_mc_2, my_mc_3, my_mc_4)
    if i click my_mc_0 function#2 is called and executed. BUT only after the loop finishes (i know this from tons of testing)...which is unnecessary since you cannot click two places at once. This might not be a problem in this example because i am only using 5 my_mc's buy if i use 500000000 my_mc's it would make a lot of difference.
    is there a way to stop the loop if the function is called?
    ...maybe there is a better way to write it, the only alternative i know that works is if i manually write every single listener and this also is logical in this example but as i said next to impossible if the numbers get bigger.
    -Note
    I didn't specify this earlier but function#2 makes the if statement false so it wont jump back into it.
    Thank you for the help I really appreciate it!

    Well...at least as up-to-date as on March 2nd(when I did last system-wide upgrade); trying to update system tonight to see whether this works.
    stronnag wrote:If you have multilib and testing enabled, you also need  multilib-testing, otherwise (as I know from bitter experience), you get these hard to track down errors.
    Nope I didn't enable [testing]; I've discovered some packages in [multilib], namely gcc-multilib or something similar(with the -multilib subfix) and some of these packages belong to the group "multilib-devel". Is installing these packages a must for compiling 32-bit packages?

  • RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: The function module "DD_DTEL_GET" cannot be used.

    Hi there,
    I´m trying to launch NWCE 7.1 Webdynpro applications accessing ABAP function with no success.
    The landscape consists of an SAP NWCE 7.1 EHP1 (Trial) and an SAP NW 2004s ABAP (Licensed). NW2004s is configured as Gateway and Message Server for the SLD. I can ping/test JCOs successfully and the SLD seems to work fine. RZ70 and SM59 show no errors in the "R3" side and both systems seem to be well-registered as Technical Systems.
    I have done some simple examples in Developer Studio to ensure that the conection between both stacks is going well, but I have allways the same issue regardless using ARFC/ARFC2, new projects/old existing projects, etc.
    When I test for first time the application, the following exception is thrown:
    Caused by: com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (104) RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: The function module "DD_DTEL_GET" cannot be used for 'remote' calls.

    Then, editing the application in Dev. Studio, if I delete tables and/or single fields binded to model context, the last exception doesn´t appear any more but the application enter in the catch section executing the BAPI call:
         try
              wdContext.currentBapi_Flight_Getlist_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
         catch(Exception ex)
              wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Execute error."+ex.toString()+ex.getMessage());
              StackTraceElement errores[] = ex.getStackTrace();
              String errorSTR = new String();

                   errorSTR += errores<i>.toString() + "
              wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException(errorSTR);
         wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("After catch.");
         // Resynchronise the data in the context with the data in the model
         wdContext.nodeOutput().invalidate();
    The first two exception seem to be related each other, and it is true that FM "DD_DTEL_GET" is not RFC enabled in R3. Should it be RFC enabled?
    As far as I know, one of the JCO conectors is used for retrieving metadata, that is, data related to types, lenghts, etc. The FM "DD_DTEL_GET" is used for that kind of operations and the second exception is related to that aswell (com.sap.mdi.ddtypes.DDDataelement.getDescription).
    I don´t know what else should I test in order to launch an RFC function from WDJ and the trial version is about to expire!
    Does anyone know about any oss note or any other tips related to this issue, please?
    I am going to test the conectivity via Visual Composer and see whether it´s possible :S
    Let me know if you need anymore info about the situation.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi again,
    The issue hasn´t been solved yet :(.

  • "Epson Utility 4 Cannot be executed"

    Hi, I am using a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X Version 10.6.6, using an EPSON DX7450 Printer/scanner.
    I recently had to change the ink cartridges and followed the online instructions. All seemed to have gone well, but upon printing documents I have noticed that there are a lot of blank spaces and so I would like to re-open the ink cartridges to double check I installed them correctly.
    EPSON's website says that to do this, you double click on the utility icon in the applications folder. I have no such folder, but did a quick google search and realised I could find this by going:
    Mac HD >
    library >
    printers >
    EPSON >
    inkjet printer2 >
    Utility >
    UT4 >
    EPSON Printer utility 4
    I dragged the icon into my dock and received the following error message upon trying to open the icon:
    "Epson Utility 4 Cannot be executed. The printer is not recognised or this software cannot function properly using the current connections".
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Same problem. I had a software update from Apple yesterday that had an epson driver update in it. I said, "sure why not".
    Today as I was printing I saw the red light flashing on my (directly plugged in) Epson Stylus Photo R265. Went to check the levels and Epson Printer Utility 3 alias in Application folder couldn't find the Epson Printer Utility 3.
    Checked out this thread and saw that the utility is in the library and found that it was in fact no longer in "/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Utility".
    But there is Utility 4.app and Utility Lite.app. Utility 4 will not launch and Utility Lite says, "Printer not registered.
    And so I googled "Epson Stylus Photo R265" which brought me to Epsons UK (United Kingdom) page and redownloaded the original (the one I had downloaded over a year ago) "Gutenprint v5.2.3" driver and walla "/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter/Utility/UT4/Epson Printer Utility 3.app" is back.
    And I didn't even have to repair the alias link. Oh yea and I checked my levels. Need yellow.

  • Non-static method close() cannot be referenced from a static context

    Friends,
    I am having a little help with some static and not static issues.
    I created a JMenuBar, it's in the file: SlideViewMenu.java
    One of the operations is File->Close and another is File->Exit.
    The listener is in the SlideViewMenu.java file. The listener needs to reference two non-static methods within SlideView.java.
    Here's some of the code:
    SlideViewMenu.java
    public class SlideViewMenu {
        public JMenuBar createMenuBar() {
        final Action openAction = new OpenAction();
        Action aboutAction = new AboutAction();
        ActionListener menuListener = new MenuActionListener();
        JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar();
         // All the menu stuff works fine and is taken care of here.
       // Listener for Menu
       class MenuActionListener implements ActionListener {
         public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent actionEvent) {
              String selection = (String)actionEvent.getActionCommand();
             if (selection.equals("Close"))
              SlideViewFrame.close();
             else  SlideViewFrame.exit();
    }SlideView.java
    // Driver class
    public class SlideView {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              ExitableJFrame f = new SlideViewFrame("SlideView");
                    // Stuff here, works fine.
    // Frame class
    class SlideViewFrame extends ExitableJFrame {
            // some things here, work fine.
         private SlideViewMenu menuBar = new SlideViewMenu();
         public SlideViewFrame(String title) {
         // Set title, layout, and background color
         super(title);
         setJMenuBar(menuBar.createMenuBar());
            // Stuff here works fine.
         // Handles doing stuff once the file has been selected
         public void setFileName(File fullFileName, String simpleName) {
            // Stuff here works fine.
         // File->Close. clean up everything.
         public void close() {
              setTitle("SlideView");
              textArea.setText("");
              scrollBar.setVisible(false);
              textArea.setVisible(false);
              statsPanel.setVisible(false);
         // File->Exit.
         public void exit() {
              System.exit(0);
    }The error I'm getting is:
    SlideViewMenu.java:50: non-static method close() cannot be referenced from a static context
    I don't get it?
    Thanks for all help.

    Making close() and exit() static would not solve the problem because close() requires access to nonstatic member variables/functions.
    Fortunately, that is not necessary. The real reason you are having a problem is that you don't have any way in your listener to access the main frame window, which is what the listener trying to control. You made a stab at gaining access by prefixing the function with the class name, but, as the compiler has informed you, that is only valid for static methods. If you think about it, you should see the sense in that, because, what if you had a number of frames and you executed className.close()? Which one would you close? All of them?
    Fortunately, there is an easy way out that ties the listener to the frame.
    SlideViewMenu.java:public class SlideViewMenu
      // Here's where we keep the link to the parent.
      private SlideViewFrame parentFrame;
      // Here's where we link to the parent.
      public JMenuBar createMenuBar(SlideViewFrame linkParentFrame)
        parentFrame = linkParentFrame;
        final Action openAction = new OpenAction();
        Action aboutAction = new AboutAction();
        ActionListener menuListener = new MenuActionListener();
        JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar();
        // All the menu stuff works fine and is taken care of here.
      // Listener for Menu --- It is assumed that this is a non-static nested
      // class in SlideViewMenu. All SlideViewMenu variables are accessible from
      // here. If this is not the case, simply add a similar member variable
      //  to this class, initialize it with a constructor parameter, and
      // pass the SlideViewMenu parentFrame when the listener is
      // constructed.
      class MenuActionListener implements ActionListener
        public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent actionEvent)
          String selection = (String)actionEvent.getActionCommand();
          // Use parentFrame instead of class name.
          if (selection.equals("Close"))
              parentFrame.close();
            else
              parentFrame.exit();
    }SlideView.java// Driver class
    public class SlideView
      public static void main(String[] args)
        ExitableJFrame f = new SlideViewFrame("SlideView");
        // Stuff here, works fine.
    // Frame class
    class SlideViewFrame extends ExitableJFrame
      // some things here, work fine.
      private SlideViewMenu menuBar = new SlideViewMenu();
      public SlideViewFrame(String title)
        // Set title, layout, and background color
        super(title);
        //Here's where we set up the link.
        setJMenuBar(menuBar.createMenuBar(this));
      // Stuff here works fine.
      // Handles doing stuff once the file has been selected
      public void setFileName(File fullFileName, String simpleName)
        // Stuff here works fine.
      // File->Close. clean up everything.
      public void close()
        setTitle("SlideView");
        textArea.setText("");
        scrollBar.setVisible(false);
        textArea.setVisible(false);
        statsPanel.setVisible(false);
      // File->Exit.
      public void exit()

  • Pre-validation using JavaScript cannot work in JSF?

    Sometimes we need to do pre-validation using JavaScript in some senarios that data need be entered and validated at client site before it reaches to Web Application Server. Remind that JSF is a server validation. Creator seems not to allow Developers to do pre-validation using JavaScript for any editable input fields in form. I will illustrate an example and hope anyone can help me to solve it out.
    Assume that if we write the a new web page that allows User enters Name and Phone. The pre-validation function called test() is written in JavaScript for validating field Phone. For simplicity, the below HTML/JavaScript without nested in table is a simple one for HTML form.
    <html>
    <body>
    <script language="JavaScript">
    function test(){
         if (form1.phone.value == "")
              alert("Please enter phone number in digits.");
              return false;
    </script>
    <form name=form1>
    <input id="phone" type="text" size=20><Br>
    <input id="name" type="text" size=20><Br>
    <input type="submit" id="submit" onclick="test()" value="Submit">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    Now, we consider using Java Studio Creator to generate the same form as describing above. The script is shown below:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <jsp:root version="1.2" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page">
    <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"/>
    <f:view>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>testForm Title</title>
    </head>
    <body rave-layout="grid">
    <h:form binding="#{testForm.form1}" id="form1">
    <h:inputText binding="#{testForm.textField1}" id="phone" style="position: absolute; left: 192px; top: 96px; width: 168px; height: 23px"/>
    <h:inputText binding="#{testForm.textField2}" id="name" style="position: absolute; left: 192px; top: 144px; width: 168px; height: 23px"/>
    <h:commandButton binding="#{testForm.button1}" id="submit" style="position: absolute; left: 192px; top: 216px" value="Submit"/>
    </h:form>
    </body>
    </html>
    </f:view>
    </jsp:root>
    After running Script that Creator created, the HTML is generated and reduced (for simplicity) as follows:
    <f:view>
    <html>
    <body rave-layout="grid">
    <form action="/rave/rave" id="form1" method="post">
    <input id="form1:Phone" type="text"></input>
    <input id="form1:name" type="text"></input>
    <input id="form1:button1" value="Submit" onClick="test()"></input>
    </body>
    </html>
    </f:view>
    Take a look carefully at <input> elements. We see the syntax for naming for each "input" element that there is a semi colon added between form1 and phone or form1 and name. This syntax is generated from built-in JSF components. Hence, I rewrite the test() JavaScript function to match with the naming that Creator generated as follows:
    <script language="JavaScript">
    function test(){
         if (form1.form1:Phone.value == "")
              alert("Please enter phone number in digits.");
              return false;
    </script>
    Clearly, this JavaScript cannot be worked because of a semi column that Creator has named it.
    I have tried to work arround for this but cannot find a solution except changing the name such as: from <input id="form1:phone" ...> to <input id="form1_phone" ..>. But I could not change or modify the scripts because it is generated from JSF components when running it under browser.
    I guess to solve this problem, the naming for elements in form should be reconsidered in the next release of Java Studio Creator.

    Hi Marie,
    I currently sucess in client pre-validation using JSF. I found a way to do it.
    Please take a look of how javascript has been added in the following scripts:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jsp:root version="1.2" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page">
    <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"/>
    <f:view>
    <html lang="en-US" xml:lang="en-US">
    <head>
    <meta content="no-cache" http-equiv="Cache-Control"/>
    <meta content="no-cache" http-equiv="Pragma"/>
    <title>login Title</title>
    </head>
    <body style="-rave-layout: grid">
    <h:form binding="#{login.form1}" id="form1">

    The key for getting data value from Form based on Javascripts is var userName = form["form1:textField1"].value;

  • ORA-22905: cannot access rows from a non-nested table item in Table func

    I am using a table function in Oracle 8.1.7.4.0. I did declare an object type and a collection type like this:
    CREATE TYPE t_obj AS OBJECT ...
    CREATE TYPE t_tab AS TABLE OF t_obj;
    My table function returns t_tab and is called like this:
    SELECT ... FROM TABLE (CAST (my_pkg.table_fnc AS t_tab)) ...
    This works pretty well as long as I run it in the same schema that owns the function and the 2 types. As soon as I run this query from another schema, I get an ORA-22905: cannot access rows from a non-nested table item error, even though I granted execute on both the types and the function to the other user and I created public synonyms for all 3 objects.
    As soon as I specify the schema name of t_tab in the cast, the query runs fine:
    SELECT ... FROM TABLE (CAST (my_pkg.table_fnc AS owner.t_tab)) ...
    I don't like to have a schema hard coded in a query, therefore I'd like to do this without the schema. Any ideas of how to get around this error?

    Richard,
    your 3 statements are correct. I'll go ahead and log a TAR.
    Both DESCs return the same output when run as the other user. And, running the table function directly in SQL*Plus (SELECT my_pkg.table_fnc FROM dual;) also returns a result and no errors. The problem has to be in the CAST function.
    Thanks for your help.
