Function of Pin 20 in cFP Backplane

Hello:
I'd like to know what is the function of the Pin 20 of the connector for the Connector Block in a Compact FieldPoint Backplane.  Accidentally we broke it, but I'd like to know what the pin is for.
Thanks in advance!
Robst - CLD
Using LabVIEW since version 7.0

Hi Robst,
The funcionality of Pin 20 depends on the cFP module that you are using.  You will need to check the Operating Instructions for the terminal assignments.  That's the only way to know if you need the pin or not.  It may be required for only 1 channel.  In that case, you won't be able to use that particular channel.
Hope this helps.

  • What is the Pin configuration for the I/O port on a 5B08 backplane?

I'm currently trying to troubleshoot my pressure transducer readings. I'm trying to ensure the signal conditioner is producing the same value the daq board is compared to an oscilloscope reading. Hence, I need to know which pins on the 5B08 backplane I/O port is for the voltage output to the DAQ board.

  • How to diagnose a broken 30 pin dock connector?

Is there a "diagnostic" application to determine if my Iphone 4 — 30 pin dock connector is fully functional? BTW - all lint and dirt has been removed (delicately). This iPhone has been able to perform TV/video out and mirror display with a (still) fully functional 30 pin to VGA connector, VGA cable and VGA equipped monitors. This phone currently cannot perform the same task. Only other variable is a conflict with iOS 6.1.3.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Mac Pro 5,1 mid 2010 motherboard memory module pins damaged

    Hi everyone,
This morning, after another computer crash I've decided to get rid of the dust inside of the tower.
When I put back the bottom, memory bodule I've noticed that it wasn't going in very smoothly - to realise that I've damanged some pins connecting the module to the motherboard (image attached).
I'm now trying to figure out what to do with it - is just the pin part replacable on the motherboard or do I have to replace the whole motherboard?
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

That is a remarkable amount of damage. Did you capture a foreign object between the connectors? Check the mating connector.
I have used a pen-knife (very small flat blade) or screwdriver to push similar pins back into position.
If you cannot straighten them enough, or if any pin breaks off, the backplane board (that holds that connector) would have to be replaced. A used backplane board should not be expensive, as there is not much failure-prone stuff on it, so they should be plentiful on the Used market. Note that the Processors are on the slide-out shelf -- do not order the processor board by mistake.

Hello guqunlin, Thank you for contacting National Instruments. This puluse's duty cycle is limited to discrete values: 50 %, 33 %, 25 %, 20 %, 16.6 % etc.You can refer to the FP-CTR-502 and cFP-CTR-502 Operating Instructions
    (http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/FD58CA0682B21E5B86256D4A0062510A) to find the reasons.
You might want to consider using the (c)FP-PWM-520 which has 12-bit duty cycle resolution (4,096 discreet values from 0 to 100 percent). You could also use the (c)FP-PG-522. This module is limited in the resolution of the duty cycle as well. To set the duty cycle, you specify the on time and off time of the pulse.

  • CFP-DO-401 fuses and flyback diodes

    I'm using a cFP-DO-401 to control 24V valve solenoids.
    On
page 4 of the cFP-DO-401 manual it says to fuse the outputs with 1.5A
fast acting fuses, which makes sense. But, rather than put an in-line
fuse on each of the 16 wires, does anyone know of a fuse block or
module that will plug in between the cFP-CB-1 module and the cFP
    backplane?
Also, on page 8 of the manual, it shows that
the cFP-DO-401 has flyback diodes in it, but then it says NI recommends
using external ones. Why are external ones needed if the cFP-DO-401
    already has them?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Mosey,
I have never seen any kind of module that installed between the backplane and the cFP-CB-1 module.  Can't imagine why NI would ever support such a device.  I like to use DIN rail mount fuse holders for this.
NI has included internal diodes to protect the cFP-DO-401 module inputs.  A flyback diode needs to be installed as close as physically possible to the coil of a relay to provide the best protection and noise suppression.

    11.1.11 DISABLE PIN
    11.1.11.1 Functional description
The Disable PIN command is used to switch off the requirement to compare the PIN verification data with the PIN
reference data. The command also allows an indication whether to use an alternative global key reference, if enabled, or
not when the application PIN is disabled. For universal PIN definition see clause 9.4.1. Usage of an alternative global
key reference for user verification is indicated in parameter P1. If an alternative global key reference is used as a
replacement for the application PIN, the usage qualifier in the PS_DO template data object for the alternative global key
reference is set to "use" = '08'. The verification of the alternative global key reference shall be performed instead of the
application PIN verification to get access to the application.
The UICC shall perform a validation of the SE after the successful execution of this command as the current SE may
have changed and this shall affect the access to files.
NOTE 1: The access rules for the application must cater for the case that an alternative global key reference
replaces the application PIN. It is the responsibility of the application to specify this.
The successful execution of this function has the effect that files protected by PIN are now accessible as if they were
marked "ALWAYS", except in the case where the alternative global key reference is to be used as a replacement for the
disabled PIN. In this case the access condition for files containing only a reference to the disabled PIN is the alternative
global key reference. For files having more than one global key reference indicated in the access rules the access
condition is "ALWAYS" after disabling on of the key references used in the access rules. The function DISABLE PIN
shall not be executed by the selected application when PIN is already disabled or blocked.
NOTE 2: Every application must specify whether this function is applicable to all PINs defined for the application.
If the PIN presented is correct, the number of remaining PIN attempts shall be reset to its initial value 3 and PIN shall
    be disabled.
If the PIN presented is false, the number of remaining PIN attempts shall be decremented and PIN remains enabled.
After 3 consecutive false PIN presentations, not necessarily in the same card session, the PIN shall be blocked and the
access condition can never be fulfilled until the UNBLOCK PIN function has been successfully performed on PIN.

I think the PIN data is not received completely by the card manager. The setIncomingAndReceive method does not guarantee that all incoming data will be copied to the APDU buffer, but at least the first 5 bytes (that is, the APDU header for case 3 and 4).
byteRead = apdu.setIncomingAndReceive();byteRead refers to the bytes received of the APDU payload, not of the entire APDU.
Once you know how many remaining bytes to read, you can repeat the following line until you have received all bytes:
byteRead += apdu.receiveBytes((short)((short)ISO7816.OFFSET_CDATA+byteRead)) ;This can be very confusing so you should read the Java Card API or Javadoc for this method very carefully.
    EDIT: you can also use
apdu.getCurrentState()as condition for reading bytes via receiveBytes()

  • How Do I accurately measure digital Polses using a compact field point

    Hi All,
My Goal Is to measure the speed of an item by measuring the difference between operation of 2 switches.
Pulse can be between 100 msec and hours.
    I require > 100 uSec Accuracy @ 100 msec, 1msec @ 1 Sec etc...
This architecture is fixed, What I am looking for is a method.
I am used to using M-Series NI-DAq's with their synchronus digital sampling or counter acquisition,
I have looked at a cFP-DI-304 but it looks like it is an asynchronus sample, dependent on CPU Loading.
The cFP-50x is promising but I can't find many code examples and there are a few "sorry for the missed pulse events" notes.
Does anyone have any suggestions or helpful hints for me?
    Thanks in advance.
    iTm - Senior Systems Engineer
    uses: LABVIEW 2012 SP1 x86 on Windows 7 x64. cFP, cRIO, PXI-RT

As I said in my post, the architecture is fixed, I understand that there are many alternatives, most of them are an "Up-Sell",
Very few have extended temperature range, LV R/T,  small form factor, fair price and industrial 24V operation.
We have an existing solution that uses custom hardware and I am looking to improve the accuracy, reduce size, improve reliability and reduce overall system cost,
Compact Rio is too expensive to achieve these goals.
I experimented with a cFP-DI-304 (on change method) yesterday an got reasonable results around the 1mSec mark.
I don't have a sig-gen capable of the 12V required to stimulate the inputs at a a precise rate, so I wasn't able to confirm it's accuracy.
What I want to find out is how accurate the on-change timestamps are? Do they go beyond the quoted 1kHz sampling mode? are they prone to event loss like other NI devices?, Does CPU load effect function.
    How about cFP-500/502?
I would like to be able to help myself but I haven't been able to find much useful information on the inner architcture of the cFP backplane, or associated modules.
The most I could find was that the data is transferred a bit like a shared variable.and is subject to losing samples if cpu loading is too high.
In the case of event based acquisition, I am hoping that it capures the edges from a high accuracy timebase and places it in a shared variable /buffer for collection by the software.
    Thanks

  • How to find Photoshop 5 in windows 7

I just wonder where I can find photoshop 5 in windows 7, I mean the catalog photoshop installs i windows 7?
    Tank you

When you install programs in Windows you can usually change the default install location, so only you can really know what the correct path is on your computer.
If you left the default location as is, the paths could be:
    For the 64 bit version:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe
    For the 32 bit version:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop.exe
If you installed Photoshop correctly and are just looking for an easy way to launch the program, I recommend to use the Windows 7 functionality to pin the Photoshop link  to your Start menu or to the Task bar.  Then you don't have to worry about the location yourself at all.
Click on the Windows Start Button at the lower left corner of your screen
Select "All Programs" to display all the programs on your system
Navigate to your installed Photoshop (if you left the default setting it should be in an Adobe folder)
Right click on  the name of the program "Adobe Photoshop CS5" or "Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 bit)" if you have 64 bit Windows
In the context menu select either "Pin to Task Bar" or "Pin to Start Menu"
You will then have the correct link either in your Task Bar or the Start Menu, depending on what you selected.
    Good luck!

  • Tecra A10-14Q: 3G modem with UMTS don't work with Vista 64bit

    Hello,
after Vista 64 bit drivers have been made available, I switched the installed hard disk and did a clean install of Vista Business, along with the drivers that Toshiba posted.
Everything is fine, except that the Wireless Manager accepts the SIM card PIN, but only shows "Transmitter deactivated" ("Sender deaktiviert" in the German version). I can't find a clue where the problem is.
In the device manager window the 3G modem is fine and functional, the PIN is correct and accepted, and I have the latest drivers installed.
Shutting down the notebook and switching the hard drive again gets me back to Vista Business 32 bit and the UMTS card is working fine?
Any help to resolve this is appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    YaGru

Thank you vey much for this feedback and that you share this information with others here in the forum.
I think it could b every useful for other users who meet the same problems.

  • FTDI FT4222.DLL calling

I am attempting to use the FTDI FT42222 usb to SPI/I2C/GPIO chip with LabVIEW.
FTDI provides two dll's that talk to the chip. After some trial and error, it appears that one dll uses the C calling convention, the other uses winapi convention. FTd2xx.dll and FT4222.dll are provided by FTDI. FTD2xx.dll are the generic USB open device calls and FT4222.dll are the FT4222 specific support.
With that figured out, I was able to successfully communicate via I2C.
Having that, I now would like to use the remaining GPIO pins, one for input, one for output.
So I started and can initialize the port with no errors returned. But, reading or writing to the pins returns an error.
I think it might be the way I'm calling the following:
    LIBFT4222_API FT4222_STATUS FT4222_GPIO_Init(FT_HANDLE ftHandle, GPIO_Dir gpioDir[4]);
    LIBFT4222_API FT4222_STATUS FT4222_GPIO_Write(FT_HANDLE ftHandle, GPIO_Port portNum, BOOL bValue);
    Their docs show:
    xx_STATUS       DWORD
    FT_HANDLE    DWORD
    GPIO_DIR        enum
    GPIO_Port        enum
    BOOL                unsigned char
So, I used the following in my library function node:
    xx_STATUS        Numeric, Unsigned 32-bit Integer
    FT_HANDLE     Numeric, Unsigned 32-bit Integer, Pass:Value
gpioDir[4]           Array, Unsigned 32-bit Integer, Array Data Pointer
                                  (Here I pass in a 4 element U32)
portNum            Numeric, Unsigned 32-bit Integer, Pass:Value
bValue                Numeric, Unsigned 8-bit Integer, Pass:Value
I'm thinking since all works well for the I2C communication, that I've gotten the STATUS and HANDLE definitions correct.
Am I right in assuming the bools end up 8 bit integers and enums will end up being unsigned 32-bit?
Do I need to use the old trick using a cluster with the first element the array size to pass the gpioDir array?

I guess it's not clear from what I posted, but their docs show gpioDir as an array:
I have since got it working and each of the 4 elements of the array controls the direction of one of the 4 I/O pins.
It turns out to get the GPIO pins to work as GPIO in Mode 0 of the chip, you need to de-assign the default functions of the pins. In Mode 0, pins 0 & 1 are I2C SDA & SCL and pins 2 & 3 are wake and suspend. De-assigning wake and suspend allows GPIO control of pins 2 & 3, while I2C is still functional on pins 0 & 1.

  • Pxi-2567 ground references

    Hi all,
I'm considering using a PXI-2567 in a project. However I need to check where the ground references connect to before committing to the purchase.
The pxi-2567 datasheet shows nine separate ground signals on the output connector. These are:
Connector Pin 39: PXI chassis backplane ground
Connector Pin 42: Common ground return for CH0:7
Connector Pin 3: Common ground return for CH8:15
Connector Pin 36: Common ground return for CH56:63.
My question is, are all these grounds internally connected in the PXI-2567, or does this card have some form of isolation between each of the eight banks, and also between the eight banks and the pxi backplane ground? (P.S. Looking at the datasheet, it implies that all nine grounds are at the same potential - but I just want to be sure).
    Regards,
    Tom

Hello bilby.  The eight common grounds that are each dedicated for one bank in the pxi-2567 are all tied to the chassis ground via the backplane.  Thus, you were correct in assuming that all nine grounds are at the same potential.

  • ONS-15454 Remote Alarm Notification

We utilize the "Local Alarms" pin-outs on the backplane of one node and connect to an external alarm notification device (A simple relay, light and beeper system). We've been using this for 4-5 years.
Recently our alarm device is no longer being triggered when there is a Remote Alarm. The TCC2 card LED will indicate a "REM" alarm but both the Remote visual and audible contacts on the backplane will not close, triggering our alarm system. The minor, major, and critical contacts work as they are supposed to. We have reset the TCC2 card but this did not help. We upgraded to Release 8.5.1 about 2-3 months ago, and just noticed this problem a few weeks ago.
Is this a issue with Release 8.5.1 or is there some other problem(s) we could be experiencing?

I’ve just tested AIC and AIC-I with 9.1 and when there is a remote alarm I see the A1/B1 pair closes. I used a millimeter and measured 500ohm resistance when it is closed (Rem alarm is active) and infinity when it is opened .
May you try a multimeter and measure a resistance on A1/B1 for audio and video pins?
As you have a local access to the node, disable DCC channels, so there are no remote alarms (REM LED should go Off on TCC) and measure the resistance again.
Re-seat the AIC card in the chassis to make sure it is properly seated.
Move the AIC to another 15454 to verify if the problem follows the AIC or stay with the node. It may be an AIC or a chassis problem.
