[Function] -Query in result
Hi,
I write the below function to display the bonus of employees
create or replace function Bonus_val (description in varchar2) return number
is
v_bonus number;
cursor j1 is
select description,salary from employee_290512;
begin
for v1 in j1 loop
if v1.description='Tester' then
v_bonus := v1.salary*15;
elsif v1.description='Manager' then
v_bonus := v1.salary*30;
elsif v1.description='Programmer' then
v_bonus := v1.salary*45;
return v_bonus;
end if;
end loop;
end;
whose having a salary range like below
6544.78
1234.56
6661.78
2344.78
2334.78
4322.78
7897.78
1232.78
But while testing the above function it's showing the same values for all category, i"m confused could any one clarify on this please.
Regards
Thelak
I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to accomplish here, but the logic is definitely flawed.
The function as written will attempt to read all of the rows from the employee_29051 table. since there is no predicate in the query, it will very likely do it through a full table scan. When the first row of the table is read from the cursor, it will assign a value to v_bonus based on the description field in the first row, and return that to the caller. given a full table scan every time, it is extremely likely that it will do that based on the same row everytime.
Further, the passed parameter description, is never used. It is also a really bad idea to give parmeters the same name as the columns in your tables.
If you post some sample data form the table, and the expected output from the function call based on that data, perhaps someone could sort you out.

What is the problem? What am I doing wrong?Mal,
I think that need to provide more information about what you are doing when you get this error. This appears to be a LV error.
1)What version of LV are you using? What are you doing in TestStand when you get this error?
2)Is your TestStand sequence calling a VI from which this error is generated? If so what is this VI doing?
3)Can you isolate the source of this error to a particular VI that is using queues?
4)How often does the error occur?
5)The path of Queue Core.vi is \vi.lib\Platform\synch.llb\Queue Core.vi. Can you put some probes on the input of this VI to determine what inputs are causing this error? What are all of the inputs to this VI when the error occurs?
6)Is queue being created or destroyed? Is an element being added or removed from a que
ue?
7)Is this your queue or a queue used by one of LV's VIs?
Unless someone has had this exact error, then it is going to be difficult to debug without more information. Clearly, the problem is easiest to solve if it is reproducible by others. -

Would you please help me to get this query? I noew with Oracle 9i...
What I need is to create a query Not empty or with rows always.
I have a list below where I need to get the count and the sum grouped by Source in a Date range.
- The fact is that if I change my date range (suppouse aprl/01/04 thru apr/30/04) the query will result with No rows, ok.
I need to create a row for every group (SAP, CAC), with Zeroes on the Count and on the Sum...
- If any group (SAP/CAC) have rows but the other one not also need to create a Zeroes row for the group that does not fall in the date range, suppose 03/03/2004...

Query Builder results seem to max out at 500 lines. How to change?
Hi all,
Some of out Application Express users are using the Query Builder tool for ad-hoc reporting. The idea is to run the SQL to extract the data, then download to MS Excel. The Query Builder results seem to max out at 500 lines. I want to increase that value. I searched all Application Express forums for 'query builder output max 500' and then 'query builder output' and did not find the answer.
How do I change the 500 line limit in Query Builder results?
Thanks!

Error - DRG-51030: wildcard query expansion resulted in too many terms
Hi All,
My searches against a 100 million company names table on org names often result in the following error:
DRG-51030: wildcard query expansion resulted in too many terms
A sample query would be:
select v.* --xref.external_ref_party_id,v.*
from xxx_org_search_x_v vwhere 1 =1
and state_province = 'PA'
and country = 'US'
and city = 'BRYN MAWR'
and catsearch(org_name,'BRYN MAWR AUTO*','CITY=''BRYN MAWR''' ) > 0
I understand that is caused by the presence of the word Auto to which we append a * . (If i remove the auto the search works fine).
My question is - is there a way to limit the query expansion to only , say 100, results that get returned from the index?Thanks for the reply. This is how the preferences are set:
exec ctx_ddl.create_preference('STEM_FUZZY_PREF', 'BASIC_WORDLIST');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('STEM_FUZZY_PREF','FUZZY_MATCH','AUTO');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('STEM_FUZZY_PREF','FUZZY_SCORE','60');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('STEM_FUZZY_PREF','FUZZY_NUMRESULTS','100');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('STEM_FUZZY_PREF','STEMMER','AUTO');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('STEM_FUZZY_PREF', 'wildcard_maxterms',15000) ;
exec ctx_ddl.create_preference('LEXTER_PREF', 'BASIC_LEXER');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXTER_PREF','index_stems', 'ENGLISH');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXTER_PREF','skipjoins',',''."+-/&');
exec ctx_ddl.create_preference('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'BASIC_STORAGE');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'I_TABLE_CLAUSE','tablespace ICV_TS_CTX_IDX');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'K_TABLE_CLAUSE','tablespace ICV_TS_CTX_IDX');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'N_TABLE_CLAUSE','tablespace ICV_TS_CTX_IDX');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'I_INDEX_CLAUSE','tablespace ICV_TS_CTX_IDX Compress 2');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'P_TABLE_CLAUSE','tablespace ICV_TS_CTX_IDX ');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'I_ROWID_INDEX_CLAUSE','tablespace ICV_TS_CTX_IDX ');
exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('xxx_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_PREF', 'R_TABLE_CLAUSE','tablespace ICV_TS_CTX_IDX LOB(DATA) STORE AS (CACHE) ');
exec ctx_ddl.create_index_set('xxx_m_iset');
exec ctx_ddl.add_index('xxx_m_iset','city, country');
exec ctx_ddl.add_index('xxx_m_iset','postal_code, country');
Users will always use city or postal code when searching for a name. When I run this query -
SELECT dr$token
FROM DR$XXX_EXT_REF_SEARCH_CTX_I1$I
where dr$token like 'AUTO%'
ORDER BY dr$token desc
i get more than 1M rows.
is there a way to include and search for the city name along with the org name?
Thanks again.. -

Self-join query to Analytical function query
Hi All,
I have converted a self-join query to Analytical function query due to the performance reasons.
Query which is using Analytical function is giving the correct count as I compared it with query using Self-Join. Can you please tell what is wrong in the query.
==========================
Query using Self-Join
select count(1)

from OHR_JOB_CURR t2) job
where pers.empl_id = job.empl_id
and pers.dw_creation_dt=pers.pers_max_date
and job.dw_creation_dt=job.job_max_date
and job.dummy_row_flag = 'N'
and pers.dw_creation_rsn_cd in ('N', 'U')
and job.dw_creation_rsn_cd in ('N', 'U')

Query Using Analytical function
select count(1)

and job.dw_creation_rsn_cd in ('N', 'U')
==================================Hi David,
The base is same but the problem is different.
As far as implementation concern these queries looks same, but when I see there counts, they do not match. I do not have any reason why this happening.

How can i have Query trace results in a table format?
Are you referring to reading the trace files generated under udump folder?
Well, you can make use of external tables, but you really need to be a master in understanding that cryptic data.

Problem regarding data function 'SUMGT' (Overall Result) in BEx query desig
Hi,
I have created one query where I want to see the inventory data month wise. That's why at first I have placed 0calmonth (with variable) in column, secondly kept all the key figures which I want to see month wise under one structure, then placed the structure under 0calmonth in column. Now in that structure I have one key figure like 'total stock' and another global calculated key figure '% of total inventory' (='total stock' <b>%A</b> <b>SUMGT</b> 'total stock').
Now the problem is when ever I'm giving the value of month from 02.2006 to 05.2006, it is calculating the value of '% of total inventory' for every month with respect to the overall result of 'total stock' for month 05.2006.
But I want to calculate the value of '% of total inventory' for each month with respect to the overall result of 'total stock' for corresponding month.
Please suggest what I'll do now.
Thanks,
Arijit.Hi,
now i got whats the issue is.
Check aggregation properties of 'total stock'(RSD1>provide tech name of total stock>display-->aggragation tab)...
Exception aggregation would have been set to <b>'Last Value'</b> with some time char as aggregation ref characteristic..
That is the reason why SUMGT (or %SUMGT) is calculating on Last value of the 0calmonth interval.
i.e if you provide 02.2006 to 07.2006, %of total inventory for every month would be with respect to value of 07.2006...
Hope this helps...
Dont forget to reward if it helps!
thanks

Stored function not returning result set unless recompiled
Hi,
I have a strange situation going on with a basic Java (1.6.0.17) application talking to an Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) database. Basically what is happening is that sometimes a stored function's return value (a result set) is not making it as far as JDBC/Java, unless I recompile the stored function (with absolutely no changes to the application or function's code). I am always able to successfully see the result set if I call the function directly from within SQL Developer, just not on the Java app/JDBC side.
I've tried running with 3 different physical Oracle 11g servers and tried running the app on a couple of machines. I'm wondering if this is either some kind of caching issue or perhaps a JDBC bug/misconfiguration.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached to this message:
1. stored function code
2. snippet of Java app code
3. ODBC trace output when returned a empty result set (ie failure scenario)
4. ODBC trace out when returned the correct result set (ie success scenario)
* it's helpful if you compare the texts of 3 & 4 with Vim diff or WinMerge etc.
** as they're large I've just extracted the sections that had differences. Leave a message here and I can send you the full ones if necessary.
