Fx5600vtd128 on MSI865p MB

I sent in my TI4600 for service and MSI subed it with an fx5600. Sadly the card's performance is horrid. On Aguamark, I'm getting about 1/3 the performace of my old card.
It seams to be when it hits vegitation in the demo I drop to 1fps. I'm running a P4 3.2 and 1gb of ram. I swaped in my old TI3 200 and it outperforamce this card.
On landmark I get a rateing of 1700. Which is horrid. My Laptop with its Mobility7 is outperforming this card.
Also I notice water effects vs the ATI and the TI3 are completly different. On the other cards it looks like nice water on the FX5600 it looks like oil.
I play a lot of Dark age of Camelot. And it I enter any area that has a lot of trees the card virtualy locks up.
I used a driver cleaner then reinstalled with 53.03 drivers. But I can not get good performace. Also landmark shows the video core running at 55mhz??? The MSI tools show it running at 350. WHats going on? Is this card really that bad if so please send me back my TI4600.
Or is there something else I can try?

I did call them today and they said that, the 5600 is the correct replacement and is superior to the 4600.
I did point out about the posts here, and that even tomshardware guide shows the fx5600 is a slower perfromer then the ti4600.
Spoke to there supervisor and he said I could RMA the card and they would look at it ....
On DAOC I run both SI and TOA. The video card has the updated bios I'm runing the 53.03 drivers, have the most uptodate MOBO drivers running the 1.9 bios.
Ran aguamark this morning and got a score of 1731, turned off all quality features on the card and over clocked it a bit and got it up to 2311. Which is still a far cry from what my ti4600 was getting.
My wife as I said had the TI3-200 and it got an aguamark of 3256. Blehhh
She swamped her card to the ATI8900xt last night and my jaw dropped at the performace she was getting in ToA. Was not only the performace, but she was seeing things that I was not seeing. Example when we went RvR'ing she would see people, on her screen before they showed up on mine. Sometimes I would have to spin a round a few times before they pop'd up on my screen.
For those that no treasure Island in ToA we went there huntig scrolls and she kept telling me I was missing chests to open. ANd sure enough if i would log out and login the chests would show up. Now this may me an issue with the way ToA handles Nvidia drivers not sure.  But right now I'm sure not happy with the FX5600 and really wish I oculd have my TI4600 back.

Of course you should try turbo and ultra turbo and faster D.O.T. settings, but I'm taking a guess as to what would work best for you with stability and performance balanced.  Post your results or any problems.
thanks (Into Eternity )  your motherboard is different to mine most of the settings would be the same except my bios doesnt have performance mode /IE captain etc
little more info the MSI 865PE-LS setting would still good

  • Unexpected Rebooting..

    Hi..
I've been reading through the forums a bit now and I noticed that alot of people have the same problem as me more or less but I still have -not- seen any definitive fixes.
My hardware is -brand- new. I bought it this morning and having set it up and been busy I've only been using it for about 8 hours in all.
    MSI 865PE Neo2-LS mainboard.
    P4 2.4ghz 800mhz FSB.
    Infinium 512mb DDR400
    MSI GeForce4 MX440 64mb 4x AGP
    Q-Tec 400w Power Supply.
My system has rebooted 3-4 times now.
I was running the "Demo" in 3DMark 2001 SE Build 330 and all of a sudden just after the Max Payne style bit it rebooted itself. I was then unable to turn it on... I left it as it was and went off to think about the problem.
Half an hour later I came back to jiggle around a bit and see if I could fix it. Surprise surprise I managed to get it running again.. for a short time.. within 30 minutes while watching a video on screen it powered itself down.
By this time I was truly fed up so I decided to explore a little more.. well.. eventually I swapped my mouse into a PS/2 port.. now my mouse is lit up. So I boot.. and the mouse is lit up even though the monitor is refusing to display a picture. I power down.. but when I power down I notice that my mouse light is still on?!?!?! So I pull the power cable out.. and then plug it back in again.. power up.. AND SURPRISE SURPRISE ITS WORKING AGAIN.
Now.. 2 hours in.. I was frolicking in the joy of being able to play Dungeon Siege with decent FPS. Well.. just as I was about to host a game guess what? It powered itself down again. My mouse light still shining even though everything is off (yes I have LED lit fans and they were all off.. no sound coming from anything.. just this eery blue glow from my mouse...)
So here I am typing this overly long topic in high hopes that someone will know what the $!%@ is going on here..
I flashed my bios to 1.3 earlier on and have all the latest driver versions.
The strange thing is: When it appears to have powered down my mouse still has its light on.. but then I pull the cable and replug and it turns on.. without doing so after it reboots itself and I try to turn it back on I just hear a phut phut from the hdd and the mouse comes on and the screen does not display anything.. Check Signal Cable - Monitor Is OK.
    -.- Doh. Help!! Please?  ;(
Oh and P.S: I haven't overclocked and have set the BIOS settings to default already.

Ok after trying alot of things including a format to check if it was a software problem I am still having this problem.
I'm beginning to think that this sound is relative to the one in a 6 page thread over in the nvidia/sis boards forum. People were experiencing problems when they connected the extra 4-pin power.. like having a strange buzzing/screeching/humming oscillation type noise whenever they scrolled the mouse or the screen refreshed to a new image. So last night I tried to unplug the 4-pin power (as I heard it was optional) and turned the PC on.. and I could hear everything revving up getting ready for startup but the monitor wouldn't come on (yes I checked the signal cable and my gfx card does work) and the devices didn't make the accustomed noise they did when they reached Windows (so i'm assuming it didn't even boot into windows with the screen off). MSI were talking about this being a bad power issue.. so if somebody can confirm this for me..
Bad PSU caused a circuit/power problem with the MSI865PE Neo2-LS when making use of the 4-pin power causing weird sounds and oscillations whenever I scroll/play games/do anything taxing in Windows and leading to a shutdown when whatever's causing the oscillations gets too intense.
Hope someone replies seeing as this thread is quite old :\

  • How to enable Ultra DMA Mode 6?

I've a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Serial ATA HD. The highest mode I can achieve is Ultra ATA-100 (mode 5) and not the maximum support by Barracuda the Ultra ATA-133 (mode 6). How can I enable mode 6 in Windows XP?

I know this is an old question and perhaps the technology has changed since it was discussed.  However, I too have been trying to enable Ultra DMA 6 on my Windows XP machine using two 300GB Maxtor Diamond 10 drives (SATA Ultra 16 150mb).  Well, I finally figured out that when I change On Chip ATA Operating Mode From Native Mode to Legacy Mode, the windows hardware manager now indicates that all drives are running in Ultra DMA 6.  The reality is that there is really no difference in the drive benchmarks when tested with Sandra.  The DMA 5 actually may be a bit faster.  What's the deal?????

does it relate to agp8x setting? cos radeon9600pro is running on 0.8v right, but why i can only set the votage upto 1.5v?
    anyone knows why?

Actually there'll be something like this:

  • 865PE Neo 2, 2 beeps on power up?

I have just finished a new system based around this Kit
    Intel P4 2.8GHzPC800, 512mb
    MSI865PE mobo, Intel P4, 400MHz DDR-DIMM.
The system appears run perfectly under xp, with no crashes, hangs or error messages. When power up the machine get 2 beeps from the mb, not directly after each other. I have read the boot info screens but they dont have any error messages. Is this due to an error i have made in setting the bios? or otherwise?
If it is, then how can I tell what the problem if I;m getting any error messages. I have runs various apps also and everthing runs fine even demanding stuff like 3dmark...
    Help me out!

I THINK the beeps are normal. It's part of the booting process. They've always been there for my and my system works perfectly.

  • No beeps

i have ongoing problem trying to get my system up and running.
the problem is that when i switch on i get no bleeps at all! but the fan spins.
I have change memory, mobo and CPU and psu.
    Edit
    i have
    a) MSI865pe neo 2
    b) 512mb kingston
    c) 3.0ghz p4 cpu
and only those connected and the speaker but when i switch on cpu fan spins but there are no beeps at all. I thought i would at lease hear beeps from the speaker even with these minimal components.

    thanks for looking you guys
I have tried my old mobo - Eureka!!!! I have life
can you believe my replacement mobo is kaput!
My 865PE Neo2 just stopped booting no beeps etc - so I got another and it is the same.
Not only that like a complete idiot I have ruined a 3.2Gig cpu and bent the *****& pins
I am back on the mobo in my sig but i have a couple of issues with it - it was set up as raid 0 - i had to delete the array - long story. Now i get the message bios not installed just before i boot into sata 1
i will try to fix that but i need to read up a bit more. no doubt i will be posting on this ( once I have inserted the other mobo in the shop keepers *****
Once again thanks for looking - I do appreciate it! I have learned a lot from reading this forum (but nowhere near enough!!!!)
