FYI - For all preview clients of Adobe Connect 8

Hello! For anyone who is part of the Preview Release of Adobe Connect 8 that wish to modify their account, please see the following statement from the Prerelease team here at Adobe:
Adobe offers select customers and users an opportunity to discover and try the new meeting client interface of Adobe Connect 8 ahead of its general release. The Customer Preview program does not allow for modifying account quotas or customizing account URL.
Note that the regular Adobe Connect trials will be upgraded to Adobe Connect 8 upon launch. Please contact your Adobe account manager or reseller if you need special assistance for your product trial.
In short, this means that URLs or Quota limits on Preview accounts cannot be modified. This limitation does not apply to accounts which are not part of the Preview program.

You can easily go to Adobe Connect Central and access the recordings page for the room that was used to make the recording. You can then select make offline. Once you select that Adobe Connect Host Add-in will launch and will require that the entire meeting be played. While it is playing it is making a local copy on your local hard drive as a single FLV file. That FLV file can be played using Adobe Media Player that comes with the Adobe Creative Suite. You can also play FLV files with many free players by using Google to search for free FLV players. Your choose on that. The other option is to use file converters from FLV to any other format you desire. There are free video file converters and some for pay. Your choice on that one. Again...Google search for video converters. I convert from FLV to MOV or AVI or M4V all the time. Then you can send out the video file in any format that matches your customer/student player.

  • WRT610N - intermittent wireless access for all wireless clients; standard fixes don't work

My network had been working fine for over a year, and now I'm getting intermittent wireless access.  Everything will be ok for a day or two, and then all of a sudden nothing wireless will work (the wired computer will still work): 1 Vista desktop, 1 vista laptop, 1 XP laptop, wireless printer, and iPod touches.
Vista computers will either say "the network has denied the association request" or the "network key is incorrect" (it isn't).  On XP computers, I can get to the point where the computer is trying to acquire an IP address, but it just times out.
    So far:
    - Made sure signal strength is good (most have full bars)
    - Upgraded firmware (worked for 2 days)
    - Made sure all drivers were up to date
    - Changed the broadcast channel (most recent fix, everything worked for 2 days)
I've never had default configurations; my SSID was enabled and set up from the beginning.  I recently moved from WEP to WPA because a new Vista laptop refused to work with WEP.  The clients do not pick up any other network signals from neighbors.
A router reboot sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.  Like everything else I've done, if it works, if it's for a day or so.
Everything worked for a year until about 2 weeks ago (a week after I switched from WEP to WPA - coincidence?).

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Long time for a Mail Client to verify connection to server normal?

    Server: Tiger (G4)
    Client: Leopard Mail.app (G5 iMac)
    Local network.
When adding an imap account it takes a long time to verify the inbound and outbound (same server) connection. I don't have actual time but it seems like a long time and is much longer than it takes to get a cup of java.
Does it do a lot of checking or do I have a mail server problem is what my concern is.
It (mail app) always carries on, I.e. is happy to use the server eventually.

    H,
my first guess would be at DNS. Are you using internal DNS? If so is it the first on the list at the client (system prefs---network).
There are several different schools of thought on this (network geeks can have serious religious disagreements about this, just add beer and we'll argue it for days) but where possible, run internal DNS on the mailserver that, at least, knows about itself and point your clients at it. DNS is virtually no load on the server (even with a LOT of clients hitting it, its pretty lightweight) and can speed up a number of things. Just remember to point the server at itself as its first DNS as well by using 127.0.0.1 and giving it a valid search domain (your domain.com).
    My $.02 Hope it Helps

  • Adobe connect add in not showing up in Privacy Settings Mac OS X Yosemite

When I try to share a screen, I am told to click the ENABLE button. I'm taken to System Preferences where I navigate to the Privacy Settings, Accessibility, and I'm instructed to enable adobeconnectaddin.  The problem is, adobeconnectaddin is not showing up in this window. I see Skype, which is not enabled, and that's all I see.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

As of March 9th, Mac OSX 10.10 will be supported.

  • Adobe Connect 8 - poor quality video, glacially-slow support

Monday I upgraded our Adobe Connect server from version 7.5 to the new version 8. This new version at the highest quality settings displays video at 640x480, which was considered high-resolution back when Quicktime was released in 1991, but nowadays that's pretty low-resolution considering the plethora of 1080p tv's on the market and computer monitors going over 2560x1600. We had better performance for sharing video under the Adobe Connect 8 preview than under the final version, and I'm wondering why there's no granular control over user roles (participant, presenter, host) in relation to video quality settings.
I've called Adobe Enterprise Support on multiple occasions the past 3 days, and nobody there has been able to answer our questions regarding the limited quality of videoconferencing through Adobe Connect. They keep saying that they'll call me back but it's clear that 1) they don't have an answer and 2) my call doesn't strike them as being an important complaint. We're an enterprise customer who has spent well over $50,000 on this product for licensing up to 50 rooms hosted on our own server. So obviously, this is an important issue that we want resolved quickly, not slowly.
We used to use a third-party utility called Master Video Control  - http://ed-apps.com/ - which would allow the host to set the quality of video feeds granularly (as per in my first paragraph).
This tool is broken by the upgrade to version 8, and frankly, if this capability were built into version 8, we wouldn't need a third party tool. There's no reason for Adobe to not add this functionality into their base product. The fact that Standard and High settings look identical (640x480) makes it difficult to understand what the difference is between the two settings.
Does anyone from Adobe answer questions on these forums? That's my hope.

The video in Connect 8 was vastly improved in terms of frames per second.  It is now at 20 fps versus 10 for previous versions.  You can change that rate to improve quality by altering the settings in the underling FMS server xml settings.
There is a balance here in terms of video quality and large bandwidth requirements.  When you have 500 attendees on a server simultaneously and video at high resolution you would see huge bandwidth issues so this is something that has to be managed.
If you want to discuss this with me, please send me a note to [email protected]  I'll see what I can get to you to help you increase the video.  Right now the maximum is 480P resolution.  A future version will go higher than that I believe.
That control panel was developed by a partner using ActionScript 2.  It is up to the partner to re-create that utility using AS3 so it can be used properly in Connect 8.  Connect 8 was completely changed using Flex and AS3 which means all pods have to be updated. There are lots of advantages to this change including massive improvement in speed of the experience and elimination of a lot of scripting. It is change though and the partners are working to update their pods accordingly.

  • Adobe Connect 9 and IE 9 can't open add-in

I was working with a client, have Adobe Connect 9, they were using IE 9 and were not able to access any other web browser. I had provided them with the download link for the add-in and they said their IT person had installed it.
When I gave them rights to share the screen, they choose Share screen but never got a popup window asking them if they wanted to choose an Application or their desktop. So they couldn't share screen. We tried logging off and logging back on still no luck.
    Is this a known issue?
    Where we doing something wrong?
    What is the solution?
    Thanks in advance.

I tried the fixes proposed here and several others I found.
What finally worked was disabling hardware acceleration in my flash settings (I did that from within the Adobe Connect room itself).
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  Browsers tested that crashed were IE 10, IE 11, Chrome, and Firefox.
I'm thinking it might have something to do with my IBM port replicator driver, but haven't narrowed down yet.  I just know that disabling hardware acceleration worked and got Adobe Connect Add in to work.

  • Multiple clients to be connected to One BI system

    Hello Experts,
have to work on a tricky requirement.
We have already connected one client (say R/3-100) to BI system. We are already running the deltas for the Logistics applications in BI production for this source system clent (100).
Now the requirement is that we need to connect 4 more clients (say R/3-200,300,400,500) to the existing BI system. We need to take care of the existing delta and INIT for the LO-application for client100.
    My Doubts are :
    1) As datasources are client independent so do we need to activate the datasources (like 2lis*) in all clients one by one? or just activating in one client will make it ?
    2) If we replicate the datasources for new clients in BW side and then want to reload the data from New clients (set-up tables filling and INIT)?would it have an affect on existing deltas (for datasources 2lis*)for existing Source client 100? What shud be the precautions? How we can proceed? Please let us know your opinons plz..
    thank you,
    Balji

    1) As datasources are client independent so do we need to activate the datasources (like 2lis*) in all clients one by one? or just activating in one client will make it ?
You need to activate the datasources individually for all the client. If you will activate in one client, it will be specific to that only
) If we replicate the datasources for new clients in BW side and then want to reload the data from New clients (set-up tables filling and INIT)?would it have an affect on existing deltas (for datasources 2lis*)for existing Source client 100? If you will replicate in one client system, it wont affect delta and init from other client.
One thing you can do, to identify data from different source systems, you can use source system compounding in your infoobjects. Make sure you are not loading data from both the client at the same time. it may lock the DSO and master data.

  • Adobe connect seems to make our program crash periodically when we are sharing it

    Hi,
We have a program that we demo with clients over adobe connect. It is written in python and Qt and uses OpenGL.
About 10 or 15 minutes into the demo the program will hard crash. This only happens about 30 - 40% of the time.
We have spent several days trying to track down the issue but we can only every reproduce the crash when adobe connect is connected and sharing the screen.
Does adobe somehow jack into the program in a way that could cause issues? We're really just at a loss as to what's going on.
    Thanks,

  • .SWF files in Adobe Connect Training

    Hello,
I’ve successfully created a Captivate project but when
I add it to Adobe Connect Training I can only get the .swf to play
if I don’t include the skin options (playbar). With the
playbar all the loads in Adobe Connect is the playbar and no movie.
Am I doing something wrong when publishing the original Captivate
    Project?
    Thanks.

    Hey Awk76
Interesting one. Captivate is supposed to work with Connect
really seamlessly. The problem comes from there now being 2 files
    (the skin...) instead of one.
Good news is you can fix it. First of all, go into your
Captivate and from the project menu, select skin (bottom one). In
there, select the Borders (2nd tab) and untick Show Borders. Take a
note of the Width field here. We'll use it later. But Andy I hear
you cry - the playbar is now inside my movie covering up content.
Don't panic. Press OK to the Skins dialog and go back to the
Project Menu, and this time click Resize Project. What you're going
to do is add a few pixels to the bottom of the project for the
playbar to sit in. Make sure you
untick Maintain aspect ratio (and save your project first)
and then amend the height by the whatever was in the Width field in
    the Borders tab (see earlier)
Ok - so now you've got the new height. In the "If new size it
larger" section of the Resize project screen (which it should be)
click the "Keep project the same size and fill background with
colour" radio. You set the background colour to one of your choice
and set the Project Postion to Top Center. Press Finish and
Captivate will grind about a bit before returning you to the main
    screen.
You'll notice that each slide now has a little bit more added
to the bottom. The playbar will sit in this but Captivate will only
produce 1 file, rather than 2. Perfect for Connect.
P.S. it's a good idea to make sure you've done all your
recording before you do this - this should be the last phase before
    publishing.
P.P.S Apologies that this is a bit long...

  • Distributing an App meant for only One Client

    Hi Everyone
I have been struggling to find a way to solve the challenge below, any information would be of great help.
I am a wedding photographer, and I have created a Milestone App for my client. I will be creating this app for all my clients.  So each app is client/family specific and has their photo galleries nicely arranged on a timeline with added interactivity.
The app can be shared by the client with their family members and friends. So there may be 10-12 downloads of the app at the most. This is a free app for the client.
What would be the best way to distribute this kind of app. Apple may not approve the app as it is one client specific. And going via itunes would required approval each time including 2 weeks of approval time. Some clients may not like the app to be publicly available on itunes. I looked at other options - Enterprise Licenses is only for within the company, but in this case the client is outside my company. There is also a VPP program which again is different.
Can anyone please suggest the best way for me to distribute my app to the client.
The app folio has been built in InDesign.
Any information would be very helpful.
    Thanks in advance.
    -MP

    Bob
    Thanks for your input.
But that would mean they have to install Adobe Content Viewer, right ? There is also an option in the Folio builder to share the folio with user via their Adobe ID.
Even after installing ACV, the user has to log in to ACV to be able to download the folio. And I noticed that a user has to first log into digitalpublishing.acrobat.com , before they can successfully log in to ACV.
I wanted to simulate the experience of an app to make it easy for the user, without them having to go through the above steps. Otherwise their parents, siblings etc. will also need to go through the same steps before they can see the content.

  • GotoAssist Express Vs Adobe connect

gotoassist is easier for our end user than adobe connect.
Many of our clients are not computer literates. The interface
for the user could be simpler and fewer steps.
The link you send is ok, but sometimes our users do not have
email setup on their computer or their filter kicks the hyper link
out. Make the link easier to use perhaps meetnow.com/stewartskiff
or mnow.biz/stewartskiff or something easy. We spend hours per day
waiting for clients to type the right address in. Also, many of the
browsers do not show the address bar, only search, so when you are
in a browser, just allow to type in meetnow and Adobe comes up,
    with the first line meetnow

    Hi clientmagic,
Thanks for posting, and sharing your feedback about
increasing the ease of use for other users. I will pass your
    suggestions on!
    Cheers,
    Pete

  • Adobe Connect and New GoToMeeting HD

We have been using the Microsoft Live Meeting platform for about 2 years and wanted to move to an HD platform..just heard about the HD GTM on the TWIT MacBreak weekly podcast and did not know if we move to Adobe Connect .. is there an HD comparable option available or is it forthcoming? Leo

This is a very long type of conversation...really.
Things to consider if you want to move to a high definition video format for web conferencing:
    1. Bandwidth - do you have the network that can handle all users connecting at 780p resolution which would be about 3-4 times more data than the VGA or 640x480 resolution Adobe Connect uses? Many customers do not have the bandwidth to even handle VGA! The bandwidth requirements are huge when you are talking 1500 people in an Adobe Connect Seminar. That would overwhelm many IP based networks in no time at all.
    2. Adobe Connect like most web conference solutions is designed for corporate and government/educational  agencies. Many of those customers do not offer employees HD camera equipment or cameras period. Yes, there are exceptions but in general the product is designed for the average corporate/government customer with limited bandwidth and limited budgets for higher end equipment.
    3. Many customers have spent millions of dollars on Polycom and Tandberg HD type systems. These are extremely costly and they run on private networks to avoid the bandwidth issue mentioned. Those networks are costly as well but designed solely for video and audio from the SIP/h.264 or H.323 traffic. Adobe Connect can participate in that system as a "listener/watcher" . For most customers that is fine.
    4. Adobe is looking at HD options for Adobe Connect future versions but today the Adobe Connect 8 platform uses the Adobe Flash Media Server/Flash Player 9 feature set which limits the video to VGA quality for the webcam pod . It is planned that Adobe Flash 10 feature set will be added to one of the Adobe Connect 9 releases next year and at that point the options for HD (780p) video will arrive. So, stay tuned for that.
    5. Do most people need HD video? It's nice and we all like it but when you have hundreds of people in a room attending a meeting then video could be a huge disruption if some have bandwidth issues or if the entire network gets bogged down.
As for GoToMeeting's option, it is limited to 6 cameras and uses different streams to do that. Adobe Connect prides itself on using one network port (443 - SSL) for all traffic which helps our customers deal with firewall issues. Having many ports is a huge issue for many of our competitors. Understand that GoToMeeting has a market focus on small/medium corporations and individuals and cannnot scale to the numbers that Adobe Connect can.  They are also not focussed on government and do not have Section 508 compliancy that government agencies are required to consider. US State and Local Agencies have to consider accessibility as well when accepting Federal funding.

  • How do I link to an Adobe Connect webinar recording?

What is the correct procedure for linking to a recorded Adobe Connect webinar from within Captivate 6? We have a URL to the webinar we did but it does not work using the video link tools in Captivate 6.

    hi carlozezza,
    here's how i do it:
    • create your button. This can be anything form text, graphic, image to a photoshop .psd
    • on the second line of tools at the top of your muse document, look for "Hyperlinks:" this is in blue to indicate it's a drop down menu
    • on it's drop down, select "Open link in a new browser or tab" this will make it easy for people to get back your website
    • next to the "Hyperlinks:" the is a field that says "Add or filter links"
    • type in your external website URL address in that field
    • note, it must have the http:// befor the URL to work
    hope this helps

  • How do I see the clients that are connected to the access point?

    Hello,
In Wireless Control System (WCS), how do I see all the clients that are connected to the Access Point? I can do a particular search that if I know the mac address. But what I really like to know is that which clients is connected to the network. That means it sould be able to show me, example, Client A is connected to AP 1. The problem in WCS is that I can't do that. Can some please advice how I am able to do this? Thanks.

    Two ways:
    First:
Under monitor, go to Access Points, then chose the target AP and click on it to open a menu, go to the Current Associated Clients tab.
    Second:
User the search tool on your upper right corner, type in the target AP name, execute the search, on the results, click view list, on the list chose you AP and then go to the Current Associated Clients tab.
    Enjoy.
