G/L account and Assets

Hi All,
Is it possible to determine the G/L account against which the transaction is posted in FI using asset sub number or depreciation area. I am trying to link asset transactions to 0PU_C02 - budgetting and funds mangement.
Any link on this greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

An asset has a asset class - the asset class has an account determination
There then is a config table which shows which P&L depn, Depn and Balance sheet accounts are then posted to
To be quite honest if you are after the balance sheet account for the asset then the asset extractors have the Balance Sheet APC (R3 field KTANSW) against the 0ASSET_AFAB_ATTR extractor (ie Asset by Depn area master)
Note: this is always today's view of the balance sheet posting - if you want to see the point of view at the time of transaction then update the asset_afab into the asset transaction cube (note: this is normal BW AA Modelling behaviour)

  • Asset accounting and Inventory management.

Hi gurus, I need your advice.
We want to control our inventory and our fixed assets in order to be able to match the amounts between both modules. The main difficulty is that not all the items we register into the inventory module generate a fixed asset (we have sixty thousand inventory items and seven thousand fixed assets).
The way I have thought to solve it is the next: currently we have and asset class per Fixed Asset GL Account. I want to create two asset classes per GL Account, one for the fixed assets that are into the Inventory Module and other for the Fixed Assets that aren´t in the Inventory Module.
Do you think it is ok or do you have a better/easier solution??
    Many thanks in advance.
    BR//Alberto.

Since you mention there is an inventory module, and there is a fixed assets module - consider that the two are very different.
Inventory is merchandise for sale.  When its costs are recognized, those costs are recorded as costs of sale or costs of goods sold.  Inventory can be purchased or it can be constructed, but when we sell the items to customers we recognize both the revenue and the costs at the same time.  The gross margin is the net gross profit or loss.  Inventory has no depreciation.
Fixed assets are capital assets used by the organization to do the things the firm is in the business of doing.  The tools used to build/construct inventory are capital assets (used in more than one year).  Fixed assets will not be sold as a main purpose of the organization.  Only inventory is sold as a main purpose of the organization to earn a profit.  Since fixed assets benefit the organization for more than one year, we spread the costs over all those years in which revenue is generated by the fixed asset use.  This is the matching principle to recognize costs when the revenue is recognized.  To achieve this, we use the AFAR and AFAB depreciation process to spread that APC value across all periods that will benefit from the "tools."
I think you are already using MM for your inventory module.  There can be different classes of inventory just as there can be different classes of fixed assets in SAP.  Each class has its own reconciling account.  Each is its own subsidiary ledger/listing of items that sum to the balance in the reconciling account.  Subledger transactions will automatically update the reconciling account balances for the class - whether we are talking fixed assets or inventory.
I hope this can help, since it sounded like the terminology was confusing.  Neither SAP or accounting is simple.  Regards

  • What is the purpose of Clearing and Revenue account in Asset Disposal : F-92?

    Hi All,
    Please clarify my doubt ;
In Asset Disposal - Sale to Customer : F-92 with customer
Suppose an asset with historical cost $1000 and accumulated depreciation of $100 is being sold to a customer at $1100, the posting entries will be as follows :
    Dr     Customer Account (A/R)                    1,100
    Dr     Accumulated Depreciation                    100
Cr     Fixed Asset - Acquisition Cost           1,000-
Cr     Gain/Loss of Fixed Asset Disposal       200-
Dr     Clearing Account for Asset Disposal   1,100
Cr     Revenue for Asset Disposal                1,100-
I completely understand the first four line items, but don't know the purpose or the 5th and 6th line items.
Please explain why we need a clearing and revenue account for asset disposal and what would be the impact of these accounts in asset accounting?
    Thanks in advance !!!
    Regards,
    Vicki

    Hi Vicki
This is just a technical account, which gets Dr and Cr in the same document
The purpose is just to tell you how much asset sale has happened during the year.. You can get this info by looking at the GL Account
Since Asset Module is a sub ledger, the asset needs to be retired. At the same time, the FI-GL also should show the needed info from accounting perspective
While the required GL entry is completed with the 1st 4 line items, the 5th and 6th are just the statistical ones

  • No accounting document created for distributed cost center and asset

    Hi experts,
Why there is no accounting document created during GR for distibuted cost center and asset?
    Thanks

Sorry guys, there's nothing to do with the config of the account assignment. The postings are ok for single cost center or single asset. SAP system message (info messsage) " Goods receipt for distributed cost center will be non valuated" are given when you are trying to unticked the GR non valuated.
If someone could explain what is the logic behind that behavior.
    Thanks again.

  • Asset accounting and MM Integration

Can any one please explain me what is the Asset accounting and MM integration
    Regards,
    Deva

    Hi,
There are two ways of interating the Assets and MM.
    1) While configuring the asset class, we check "include asset" in the inventory data option. This allows the users to carry out physical/stock count.
    2) While creating Purchase Order in MM, we use account assignment category "A" which is for assets. This is a standard setting, and not configurations are required. When we use this option, we can generate PO for Capex items and automatically the entries are passed to the asset accounts.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Carry forward AR spl and asset error

when I use year end balance carry forward for AP/AR, it pops the message saying company code still in year 2010, do we need to do vendor/customer  open item clearing and finish the dec month closing, then we can use f07 to carry forward and no such warning message will apear? which report I should compare so I can make sure F07 the figure is correct and is really carried forward to new year? can we run( actual run )for f07 several times? is there any accounting doc posted?
in asset closing, we have run depreciation run for dec, can we run ajrw before ajab?
in special ledger carry forward, we found the error: KR23 820000 record not carried forward since no account defined-->check account, but we don't have fs00 record for 820000, this is not gl account, how can we check? how to make sure balance sheet account and retained earning account carried forward is correct figure, for example, I chose company code KR23 in the selction screen of gvtr, but the retained earning account shows both company code KR01 and KR25, thus my reained earning account transaction currency for these company codes is 4mil, why system shows so many company code, I want only KR23, how to do? Thanks

    Hi,
Generally, you will want to call these business rules from a BPC Data Manager package.  Similar to how you call a script logic package.  In fact, you'll have to use the DM package to call a basic script that then executes the program.  See the instructions in the online help:
Here is the code they describe to run the CarryForward Rule:
    *RUN_PROGRAM COPYOPENING
    CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
    CURRENCY = %GROUPS_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM

  • Gl account and cost center in fb01

    hi,
1 may i know why balance sheet account allowed to have cost center? in fb01, when i enter balance sheet account, cost center field is available.
2 why vendor or customer account not allowed to have cost center in fb01?
    thanks
    rgds

    Dear,
Asset is one of your balance sheet account and it is often a need to track assets based on cost center so that it is available.
Vendor and customer are never tracked by cost cetners but the profit center. Because cost center are often like Production, Administration, Sales etc.
So vendor can not belong to aspects like sales, production etc. Moreover vendor and customers derive profit center from offsetting line item. Both cost centers and profit centers are not available in line item.

Also we need to transfer some assets to other plant what will be the process
Please note that we did not configuered any CIN related customisation

    Hi,
SAP doesn't provide any option for creating Gate Pass (Returnable & Non-Returnable) in standard.
    Returnable Gate Pass: -
    1. MM01 - Create Material Master for every Spare Part / Machinery to be sent to Vendor for Repair as Non-Valuated (Material Type "UNBW") (Do not extend Accounting and Costing views since you don't require postings of Stock value and consumption values, you only want to track the Service/Repair Charges)
    2. MIGO - Goods Receipt > Others (Receive the quantities of these materials using Movement Type 501 / 511)
    3. ME21N - Create Subcontracting PO (Here Main Material and Component will be same material)
    4. MB1B - Transfer Posting w.r.t. Subcon PO (Mvmt Type - 541, Spare Part stock will get posted to Vendor Stock)
    5. MB90 - Take Print out of this Material Doc as Returnable Gate Pass (U need to configure Message Determination of Inventory Mgmt)
    6. MIGO - GR against Subcon PO (101 - Receive Spare Part, 543 O - Consumption of Spare Part form Vendor Stock)
    7. MIRO - LIV for Service Charges w.r.t. Subcon PO
    Non-Returnable Gate Pass: -
    1. MIGO - Goods Receipt > Others (Receive the quantities of these materials using Movement Type 501 / 511)
    2. MIGO - Goods Issue > Others (Issue the quantities of these materials using Movement Type 501 / 511)
    3. MB90 - Take Print out of this Material Doc as Non-Returnable Gate Pass (U need to configure Message Determination of Inventory Mgmt)
Note: - If Client is not satisfied with this then you need to go for development of Gate Pass System.
    Also check transaction code LECI
    Related configuration
SPRO --> Logistics Execution --> Shipping --> Basic Shipping Functions --> Registration of Visitors and Means of Transport

  • Cost center, cost element and asset

    Hi Experts,
      a) What is a cost element?
      b) Is there any link between the cost center and the cost element
      c) How can I tie a cost element to an asset?
    Thank you,
    Raneetha Weerasinghe.
    Moderator: Avoid asking basic questions

    Hi ,
First and foremost thing , a cost element is the shodow account of all the Expense / Revenue nathure P&L accounts in CO i.e controlling . There are no B/S type accounts which are created as cost elements . Primary cost elements are P&L GL accounts which are created in chart of account and in CO you call them as cost elements , they have to be created in CO
Secondly , In a cost element you can porovide the default cost center as to where it will post like if you have created cost element 1 then you can say that cost element 1 would always post to cost center 1 . else when there is a posting to be made in P&L account type GL then you will have to provide a cost objet which can be cost center .
Thirdly assets to cost elements , that would be used in IMG setting only when you have the P & L type accounts for depn. , write off revenue / loss etc. there you mention those GL accounts and system derives the cost element from there .
In the 3 rd Question what is the exact requirement please elaborate .
    Hope this helps .
    Regards ,
    Dewang T
