G560 Battery

Just replaced my battery with a brand new battery.  The battery icon on the bottom says 'plugged in, not charging".  What do I do to fix this?
I have tried the following things:
1. Restart the Computer
2. Restart the computer without battery, running solely on AC power
3. Uninstalled Energy Saver Managemetn and ACPI
4. Changed battery settings with new battery
None of these have seemed to help. I'm open to all suggestions

Hi Agallipoli,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that the new battery when plugged in displaying message “plugged in, not charging”. Please let me know if you have purchased the battery from Lenovo or any compatible battery. However, I suggest you to perform Flee-Power and check if the issue persists.
Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
Then pluggin the battery when the computer is turned ON.
Do post us back if the issue still persists.
Best Regards
Shiva Kumar

  • G560 won't run on battery

    Facts:
    laptop under a year old
    lightly used
    running fine on battery yesterday
    battery meter shows 99% charged
    What happened:
Using laptop last night on battery, hit 7% and I plugged it in.  Finished what I was doing and shut down windows applied critical updates.  This morning unplug laptiop and try to turn it on...nothing.  Plugged it in and it started.  Tried a couple times disconnecting battery and reinserted, battery meter working, shows charged just won't work on battery.  Tried to roll back to previous restore point, as I didn't know if it was windows related.  Still nothing.  Read to leave it unplugged for a full minute...nothing.   Any ideas?
Again the battery is not old or worn out, it held a multi hour charge yesterday.
    Thanks

take a look at the thread below first. if it doesn't work, you'll need battery replacement.

  • Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade

Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be a good idea to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
    I have tried these:
    1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
    2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
    Thoughts and suggestions?

  • Lenovo G560 not booting. CPU Fan 100%. No output on screen or VGA

    I have a Lenovo G560
When I power on, the fan is steady for the first 5 seconds, then it spins faster and stays like that. No output from the screen at all.
External VGA does not present any output either. HDD doesn't spin and nor does the light turn on. Removed and reseated memory modules as well as HDD. No change.
Purchased a replacement LCD screen as the current one was cracked the when laptop hit the floor! Therefore I'm thinking something's completely screwed the laptop up or is it a case of a loose connection.
Next thing I was going to try was to disconnect the CMOS battery which would hopefully reset the bios - Can anyone shed any light on this? I believe it's under the keyboard and I have the remove the top chassis. I know that it may be soldered on as well...Any advise or help is appreciated.
    Thanks, Mitesh

    hi mitster,
To access the CMOS battery, you need to remove the keyboard and the top cover. From there, just turn the motherboard over to remove the CMOS battery. (see page 54-57 of the hardware maintenance manual detailed instructions).
If reseating the CMOS battery doesn't give you a display, try to reseat the CPU. If still the same problem, the Intel HD graphics in the processor or the motherboard probably got damaged when the laptop fell into the floor. If you're near a local laptop repair facility, I recommend you take it there to test the motherboard / CPU.
    Hope this helps.

  • G560 64-bit Windows 7 : Plugged in ,Not Charging

    Hi,
I'm facing a problem with my Lenovo G560 (64-bit Windows 7 and i3 ). I'm not able to power on my laptop without connecting to the power outlet. Once the Windows started the battery icon shows 100%(Plugged in , not charging). If I remove it from the power it is getting shutdown immediately. Will it be a battery problem ? Any OS update might not have compatible with the hardware or drivers ?
Can any one please suggest a solution for this problem?
    Thanks in Advance !

  • G560 Charging Icon shows charging 17 seconds then stops ?

I have a G560 , when battery is depleted and needs a charge . If I plug my AC adapter in my battery icon shows I have the AC power but the icon shows that it is charging for 17 seconds and then quits showing that it is charging. If I unplug the power supply and then plug it in again. The same 20 seconds thing. I can get the battery to completely recharge all the way up if I plug and unplug. I am wondering if it is a defective voltage regulator problem? I do not want to replace the battery if the battery is not bad. It is just out of warranty by 3 monthes. This just started happening . Thanks and God Bless : )

  • G560 Shut off and won't turn back on

I have a G560 with an Intel i5 Processor and 4gbs of RAM
Last night I was watching a movie, with the AC adapter plugged in, when the laptop suddenly shut off. I tried to turn it back on and the LED light blinked once and shut off. AC adapater was working as the yellow light was on.
I then unplugged the AC adapater and tried just the battery. Same thing, LED blinked but then shut off and the computer didnt make a sound. Took out the battery and put it back in. Tried it with the AC plugged in and unplugged, same thing. I let it charge overnight . Nothing this morning.
Is there anything I can do or has something fried.

    hey SMP05,
from what you have mentioned, sounds like the unit got fried.

  • G560 Booting Options

I recently learned that booting android or chrome os onto a laptop could
extend its battery life since it doesn't require as much processing power.
Thing is, I don't want to partition my hard drive; I wanted to boot from an
    usb.
However, when I looked in the bios settings, it only has three options to
boot from. The first is of course the hard drive, second is the dvd drive,
third is the network. How do I make my lenovo g560 (i5-450m, 4 gb ram
320 gb hdd) boot from a usb?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First insert your USB stick then turn on your laptop. After that, press F12 to change boot device. You should select USB option.
    Cheers.

  • Stuck at start-up after TrueScript caused a restart on G560

    Hi to everyone!
I beg for your help! My G560 got stuck on the start-up and it won't start Windows at all. It just has options F2 and F12 to enter setup or to chosse boot device, but doesn't work. Keyboard is functioning, CAPS Lock led is turned on and off for example, but pressing F2 doesn't give anything. If you react real quick and press F2 when computer has just started you will get "Entering setup..." crap instead of F2-F12 options, but it wouldn't move further than that.
As I understood there are 2 possible solutions: to take out hardware battery for BIOS on a motherboard (i'd rather not) and to boot using special flash-drive with some BIOS files on it.
Could you help meon both this solutions? I mean some links or step by step instructions would be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Take out the hard drive and try to boot and enter bios. (F2)
If you can, the hard drive has problems.
    Post back results.

  • MBP 15'' 2011 battery lasts only 3 hours!

    Hi
I bought MBP 2011 15 inch last week and received it on Monday.
    My configs are
    Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro8,2
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed:          2.2 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          6 MB
      Memory:          4 GB
and I also upgraded to high resolution.
So far, I'm pretty much enjoying my new MBP
But I have one main concern with my new laptop's battery time.
The battry time is really really short!
When I first turned it on, it took 3 hours to drain the battery. (starting from 98% or so)
And I did calibration thing so that the battery runs more "efficiently"
Of course, I didn't expect that calibration would make the battery last longer, but no matter what,
I only get 3 hours of battery life and I'm not even doing something that would drain my battery fast.
I just do simple web surfing and word documenting on about 30-40% brightness (or even lower sometimes)
And I get only 3 hours of bettery time.
So is this because my MBP has four i7 cores or or what?
Previous MBP 15'' models seem to last at least around 5 hrs doing exactly same thing.
And considering that I have been using my MBP only for 5 days or so, I'm worried that the battery life will become even less!
    Maybe like 2 hrs?
Is this a particular issue with my laptop, that I can return and exchange to new model or get fixed without fees?
Or is it just built this way that all the MBP 2011 15'' models have this kind of short battery life?

OMG turning off the Bluetooth just gave me like extra 3 hours of battey time! (6 hrs total)
I didn't even know it was turned on in the first place because I never touched it.
I guess bluetooth is on as a default setting.
Thank you so much for advice.
I feel so stupid, but please be understanding since it's actually my first MacBook.
But I'm really glad to find out that I was wasting battery with bluetooth on, and now I can get better battery time.
    Thanks once again!

  • Battery heating

I have the original battery that came with the Thunderbolt.  I noticed if I'm using mobile web for maybe over 20 minutes or so, I can feel the battery heating up.  Is anyone else experiencing this with the original battery?  Is this "normal"?  I don't notice it heating up when I just text or use the phone for voice calls.  It's past the 14d period when I can return the phone.  My laptop was doing the same thing (heating up), until finally it "burned out" the inside and has had to be repaired several times.  I'd HATE for the same thing tohappen to my Thunderbolt, especially since I have 2 years with it.  (Footnote:  I did not purchase the extended warranty.)  Help!!!

Download from the market "Battery Monitor" application and it will show you much more information about battery including its temperature. Normailly working battery temperature (not during charging) range is from 80F (27C) and should not exceed 105F (40C). If your battery is getting hotter than 105F during normal operation, you are risking of damaging not just a battery but also internal components of the phone.

  • I bought the wrong HP battery...!

I bought it online a couple days ago and it arrived today. I opened the package and to my horror the battery didn't fit my laptop. My laptop is a 13.1 inch HP Pavilion dv3. I bought the HP dv3000 Notebook 6-Cell battery thinking it would fit, but unfortunately it didn't. Can anybody tell me what battery I actually need to purchase for my laptop?
Most importantly: Can I return this and get an exchange or something? It cost me 145$, and I don't know what to do with a laptop battery that won't fit my laptop.

    Thank you for the link.
As for checking with the vendor... since I bought it online I called yesterday to the tech support number. They talked a lot about some stuff and then told me they don't have the information for what I want. They gave me a number which I am now calling and I've been on hold for 18 minutes and counting. I think I'll try again tomorrow.
I'm sure they'll let me exchange... if I can get hold of them. I sure don't want to be stuck with a 145 dollar piece of junk.
