Gapping mis-alignment in bottom slot

Hi Guys,
I cannot get the bottom slot to line up in the correct position when using gapping.
The bottom slot abuts to the right of the Main Slot, extending the width of the page and ruining the layout.
If I turn off gapping the bottom slot works correctly.
I created a minimal theme with NO code of my own and have trawled through the emitted HTML and found:
12 "table" and 12 "/table"
16 "tr" and 16 "/tr"
23 "td" and 21 "/td"
Is there a fix for this or do I turn off gapping and space all the slots via style-sheet padding?
Netpoint version 5.9.
HTML code follows:

NETPOINT DEVELOPMENT COPY THIS IS FOR TESTING ONLY. THIS IS A TESTING AND DEMONSTRATION SITE ONLY

I would use CSS to override td width tags and table dimensions instead of gapping for this particular implementation. This will give you more control and it will be sitewide.

• Select Option mis aligned

Hello
Can you please help me with aligning with the date range select option with the radio button group on the left and with the
button on the right, the select option for "DATE" seems to be slightly mis-aligned.
all the above UI elements are included in a 'Group' UI element which as matrix layout. I tried to play around with the 'vAlign'(top,baseline,middle,bottom) settingfor the different UI elements without any luck, this setting doesnt' seem to have any effect on the position of the select option.
please let me know if you need any other info.
Thanks

Hi,
Here is what you could try out,
1. Create a transparent container and put the Date Select Option( View Container ) in that.
2. Set vAlign for the radio buttons and Transparent container to Middle.
3. Experiment with the vAlign a bit with various combinations till you get desired result.
For e..g dont put any vAlign on Transparent container, but retain them for radio buttons.
This is a tough one to solve, you can get it very close but not completely. This is because the caption for the select option control seems to be always set to vAlign as bottom.
If this does not work.You may need to put the date selector on a different line or in another group with some gap between the Radiobutton group and the Date group.
Hope this helps.

• Post 3.1 Update, First Sync Mis-aligns Fields (child -- brother ??)

Anyone else have issues with the first sync after 3.1 bringing up a series of conflicts to resolve centered around newly mis-aligned address book fields? Both my phone and my wife's phone, syncing with the same Mac address book list, decided that every non-empty "child" field in a phone contact was suddenly a "brother" instead. Easy resolution during the sync because iTunes raised the alert that there were conflicts, but just want to raise the issue so Apple knows of it. Bottom line, they were all "child" before the update, and somehow during the initial sync, iTunes decided they were "brother".

I have that CHILD to BROTHER sync anomaly happening also.

• Picture mis-aligned when i open document with Pages

Hello all,
I am new to Pages and previously did lot of work on MS Words.
When I start using Pages to open on my previous MS Words documents, the picture are mis-aligned. I tried playing around with the 'stay on page' or 'move with text', and all the other buttons i can click on under the 'Arrange' columb, it just don't go back to the original alignment. Previous in MS Word, I did a right click on the picture, change the picture format layout to 'in front of text' and it will work.
Pages mis-aligned all my work and my boxes and charts from MS word document.
is there any way i can solve this issue?

We assume you are using Pages 5, the latest Pages but haven't said so.
Pages is not Word and not 100% compatible with its files, particularly Pages 5 which has had over 90 features removed from the previous version.
You should be aware that the .pages file format is a proprietary Apple format, used by very few users, unopenable by any other application and just changed to another incompatible format without notice by Apple just last month.
Pages 5 has trouble opening its predecessor's files, let alone Word's

• Putting ram in bottom slot on Wallsteet?

Can anyone tell me how to install ram in the bottom slot of a 233mhz Wallsteet PB?
Also,what is the max amount of ram that can be installed in the bottom slot? I have 256mg in the top slot and 32mg in the bottom and want to put 128mg in place of the 32mg.
The 128mg was originally in the top slot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

noj,
The Wallstreet can handle a maximum of 512MB (2 x 256MB); the memory for the lower/bottom slot requires a low-profile module. Measure your 128MB module; if it is less than 1.5 inches tall, it should work in the bottom slot.
Also, the early iMac, Wallstreet, and Lombard require special 256MB modules made specifically for these computers; the 32/64/128MB modules can be generic as long as they meets the Wallstreet specs. Here is an example of the memory for the Wallstreet:

• How can I automatically align the bottoms of two-page spreads in a long novel in CS3?

I'm laying out a long novel in InDesign CS3. I've set the text to align to the baseline grid and have the keep options set to prevent widows and orphans. Because of these keep settings, often one page is a line shorter than the one facing it. Is there some way to set things up so that the longer page in a 2-page spread automatically breaks a line sooner, so as to match the shorter facing page -- or do I have to introduce page breaks manually, spread by spread?

If you're the author, you might want to consider rewriting the annoying paragraphs. Perhaps changing a contraction to full words, or replacing full words with a contraction, for example. Yes, it's hard not to change meaning, so it's your call. If you have a good relationship with the author, you could consider suggesting the same thing.
Other possibiliies that may not be acceptable options in your situation include experimenting with applying the single-line paragraph composer instead of the default multi-line composer, adjusting type and leading heights, and/or text frame size, uniformly all across the book, to see if a tiny tweak resolves all or most of the annoyances.
The Auto-Size text frame feature just introduced in InDesign CS6 might work by setting it to a maximum and minimum height that differ by one line, "grow down from the bottom."
Here's the dialog box:
Search Google for terms like "InDesign CS6 auto-size text frame feature" without quotes for more info.
[EDIT] Ooops, I just learned from Anne-Marie Conception's excellent free sample Lynda.com video tutorial that came up in the Google search I suggested above, that Auto-Size can't set a maximum frame height. So it might be tricky or impossible to find the right combination of keep lines together and other settings for your purpose of compensating for only one line of difference.[/EDIT]

• Mac pro 2006 hd 2600 xt should work in bottom slot?

I was using a 3rd party hd 4870 in the bottom and was working fine. Now I was thinking of selling the machine but when I put the older hd 2600 in the slot there is nothing. All of the other slots work fine, I have yet to see if the 4870 will work if I put it back to test. The old one should work though? I did think though that the 4870 would register as x16 but always has shown x8 in the bottom. Would that indicate that there was a problem in the slot, that it was going out?

An excellent question ! Yes, the X2600 should work in slots 1 or 2, but I'm not sure about slot 3
see this entry at Everymac.com on PCI-E bus lanes
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/faq/mac-pro-pcie-architecture-lane -configurations.html
as far as I know, graphics cards go in slots 1 and 2, not so sure about 3 and 4. as you can see by the above entry, slot 1 has double width 16 lanes, slot 2 has 8 lanes, and 3 has 4 lanes. there may not necessarily be a problem in the slot, but that the 2600 XT likes to be in slot 1 or 2, and the 4870 could be a little less picky. The only way to tell if it is going out or not is to shut your Mac Pro down, take off the side panel, change graphics cards,including hooking up the power cable as needed, putting the side panel back, rebooting and checking under "About this Mac" then more info, then System report where it should show up as a PCI card in whichever slot you have installed it. Should you have hooked up the power cable and reinstalled the graphics card correctly in the correct slot and it doesn't show up in the system report at all, that could indicate a problem. just FYI, the 2600 XT isn't considered to be that great of a video card any more and may get clogged up with dust . You may be able to bake the video card to get a few more months' use out of it but this is a temporary fix only, and is not endorsed by anyone. if you could find an 8800GT mac version for a reasonable price, that might be a better solution

• SWF not aligning to bottom of div tag?

I'm trying to build a tight site and have an .swf file that RELIES on being at the absolute bottom of its div section, but when I put it in and look at it online, there's a small gap between the .swf file and the next div. It's HORRIBLE. http://www.hrwisellc.com/newsite

• AIR+Flex: Align to bottom right when application opens

I have a AIR app that I need to be in the bottom right corner
of the screen when it opens.
My simple workaround is that I set the nativeWindow x and y
to values off the screen and then using a timer I set it to the
correct values after 1 second (if I do it immediately, the screen
size is not calculated correctly???)

private function init() : void {
// This doesn't work???
s = Screen.mainScreen;
nativeWindow.x = s.visibleBounds.width - nativeWindow.width
- 5;
nativeWindow.y = s.visibleBounds.height -
nativeWindow.height - 5;
nativeWindow.x = -1000;
nativeWindow.y = -1000;

timer.start();
private function show( e:TimerEvent ) : void {
timer.stop();

<mx:Panel width="200" height="140">
<mx:Label text="Some text" />
</mx:Panel>
</mx:WindowedApplication>
There must be a better way to do this? (even to align the app
to the middle of the screen)
I have tried to set visible to false in the -app.xml as well,
which does not work?
The big problem is that nativeWindow x and y keeps on
resetting to 0 if I have my entire application code.
Are there any other things in Flex with AIR that makes the
application reset it's coordinates if I have set it in the main
MXML file???

newWindow is something you've defined already in Flash.
It doesn't apply with Flex as I am in WindowedApplication
already.
I just found that I can tween the X and Y (using Tweener)
but... the X and Y resets if I Tween the width and height
(don't worry, I don't want to do this anyway)
Anyways, so I must be setting the width and height somewhere?
For Flex: Why does the X and Y reset when I have a MXML
Window inside my main app?
I've edited my example in my previous post, it shows that the
X and Y is set to 0, 0.
How do I prevent this, here's the example:
Main application MXML:
quote:

<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns="*"
layout="absolute" horizontalScrollPolicy="off"
verticalScrollPolicy="off"
showFlexChrome="false" width="200" height="140" alpha="1"
applicationComplete="{init()}">
<mx:Script>

import flash.events.TimerEvent;
import flash.utils.Timer;
import flash.display.Screen;

• Browser based mis alignment

Hi
I have a problem with a dreamweaver page I have. When I preview my page it seems that some of my divs are affected by the resizing of the browser. And only align when the browse is full open.
the div1 seems to behave normally but the reset miss align when the browse size is manipulated.
PLease can some one help me.

Somehow you managed to mangle the code I gave you. So let's try again.
Use logical markup. If you want your table at the bottom of your page, put it in the bottom of your HTML code. If you want a logo to appear on top of another image, use CSS properties and put the other image into the background. Don't try to use APDivs or Layers to position and overlap objects on screen. Unless you're a pro, APDivs are almost impossible to work with.
Use default CSS positioning (no positioning at all) margins, floats and padding to align objects on screen. Use Split Screen View and pay close attention to the code DW generates for you.
Please take time to do some CSS & HTML tutorials at the W3Schools. It's time well-spent.

• Image files in a table mis-aligned in Internet Explorer

I have a website which uses a couple of tables to align image files, which consist of text in boxes. Although in Dreamweaver, there is a slight discrepancy between their positions in Firefox or Safari, I've been able to get the alignment I want with small adjustments in Dreamweaver. However, in Internet Explorer 8 the top image file of two which reside in the same table is displayed about 15 pixels to the right of the one underneath it. (The vertical positioning of the whole table is a bit off as well, but I'm less concerned with that as I attribute that to browser positioning issues.) I have no idea how this could happen, as I would think the table would constrain the two images from shifting side to side in relation to each other.
I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.6.8. and Creative Suite 3/Dreamweaver 8
Here's the URL: http://www.downsizedlivingmag.com
Any ideas as to how I can fix this? Or even better, how I can achieve the same results in IE that I get in Firefox and Safari?
Thanks!

Ha, ha. I love the site!
You can use IE Conditional Comments to add some padding-top above your tables.

Sadly, when I disable images in my browser, your page is very short on indexable content. Search engines, translators and screen readers can't access text in images. You might wish to re-think this design decision and opt for more real text in headings and paragraphs where it will get noticed. Alas, designing for the web has almost nothing in common with print design.
