GarageBand Super Size Me
Is there a way to enlarge the size of a GarageBand session, similar to what happens when one uses Command + to increase the size of a Safari Browser or Word Document? I've noticed I can't do this with GarageBand and I'd like to enlarge my GB sessions when connecting my laptop via external HDTV monitor.
To clarify, I'm not talking about the e x p a n s i o n that occurs by clicking the green dot, or the lower right-hand corner grab.

I've since noticed that the Control/Two-Finger results in GarageBand pixelating at some point, whereas Command + doesn't pixelate nearly as quickly with other programs such as this Safari webpage.
Because the Command + function doesn't work with GarageBand, is there a way to use both the Control/Two-Finger in moderation, and, use some enlargement settings on an external video monitor to avoid pixelation?
You might be able to get some more "juice" out of the zoom with what you describe. Not sure though - you'd probably have to experiment to see what works best for you on your equipment.
Also, the Universal Access Zoom function might work better as well. Now that you know what the squiggly key is, you could see if you get better results with that.
Good luck!

I cannot use Facebook, myyearbook, or my Gmail! When I load them the fonts go to super size and I get only a 1/4 page on a 19" monitor! It renders those sights usless!
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems, make sure that the window is not maximized:

I imported multiple WAV audio files into a garageband project, totally about 20 minutes of 10 track audio. I then edited the project down so that it ended up being about 4 minutes of audio. When I save it, the "package contents" of the garageband files include the original WAV files that I imported at their full 20 minute size. Is there a way to save the file in such a way that it only retains the audio for the 4 minute finished product?

my iphone 6plus display zoomed to a super size so much so I can't even log on now or get to the controls. How do I correct this?
My iPhone 5 did the same thing. Real pain if you restart. Does not change anything if you reset.
Go to settings, general and accessibility to turn of oversize text. -
Why Can't I Export to Quicktime from Garageband?
Has anyone else experienced this or would know how to fix it...
I created a .mov file from Keynote and brought it into Garageband as a Video Track to sync the music to the Keynote presentation. Now I'm ready to Export to Quicktime from Garageband. When I choose the Export command from the 'Share' menu in Garageband, it runs through two dialog boxes - first "Creating Mixdown" and then "Converting..." - after the second dialog box disappears no Quicktime file is created.
I have tried several things to remedy this, but have had no luck - such as updating to Garageband 3.0.1, running Disk Utility, restarting the computer. I also made sure to check the Preferences in Garageband before exporting.
Can anyone tell me how I can get it to export?
Also, the final Garageband file size is approximately 180MB and the presentation runs approximately 8 minutes. The final file will need to be 'full quality', as it will be shown from a projector at a meeting.
Mac OS X (10.3.9) Keynote v3.0.0; Garageband v3.0.1; Dual 1GHz G4; 1.5GB SDRAMWhich export did you use?
Try going into prefs->export, enable the export to disk option.
Than in the Share menu choose export to disk.
Then do a search on the name of your song (in the Finder) and see if it shows up. -
'''bold text'''When Firefox is open, email message opens in Firefox in super-size and difficult to use.
Remedies tried at suggestion of another technician:
Reduced zoom level in F.
Opened in safe mode & checked square icon in top right corner
Reset toolbars and controls in safe mode
Uninstalled and reinstalled
Tried restore defaults
Ticked all options in Safe Mode and clicked "Make Changes & Restart"
Pressed F11 on keyboard
Right clicked on F icon & clicked compatability option.
Fixed one problem
Statement : "Firefox is incompatabile"; did not fix; couldn't see any way to fix.
Note: when I used Firefox before, my operating system was Windows XP. On one window, there was a reference to Windows XP but no way shown to fix.
Friends, I have been struggling with this problem for serveral weeks and many hours. Internet Explorer has become a nightmare and I need to use Firefox. With all respect, it seems to me the reputation of the organization is at stake. Help!
One last question: is there someone I can trust who could take over my computer and solve this? Thank you!!!!!'''bold text'''When Firefox is open, email message opens in Firefox in super-size and difficult to use.

Why does font size automatically change
For my church work, I have created mini-presentations with lyrics. I then copy them into my service master. A number of times the font dramatically increased in size from the the file I am copying into the master. I mean like from 28pt Helvetica to 108pt Helvetica. I can go back and manually change it. But its a pain and just not right. W
Copying them into same version of Keynote (6). Open up the source file. Highlight the slides. Drag them over (they nicely fold into one sort of pile .. nice effect). Put them where I want them to go. POW, the font goes super-size ... but not always. Let me modify that ... not all my songs do it. I need to do some experimenting around to see if the same files do it all the time. I have a library of 75-100 songs so I need to do some testing on purpose. Don't know if it make a difference but I created most of them on my iPad and then work with them on my Mac. But compatability was the main point of Keynote 6 .. or at least I thought.

Super zoomed-up screen display
Hi everybody,
While listening to a web radio transmission, I fell asleep and must have pressed some wrong buttons on the keyboard. The screen is now super zoomed up. For instance, one single icon in the dock covers the entire screen!
When force quitting and restarting the computer, it opens up as normal and I see the standard screen for a second, but then it zooms up again right away to this super size.
What to do now?Hi Tomas!
Go to System Preferences/Universal Access and disable Zoom! -
Error in the standard htmlb.jar from EP6 SP9 (HTMLx)
I've successfully migrated my custom developed applications from EP5 SP5 to EP6 SP9. I've used the well known 3rd party
HTMLxframework for the DatePicker and Locale corrections only (I am a brazilian developer).
In the org.sapportals.htmlb.rendering there is a class named RenderUtil.
This class has two places with this specific code:
ResourceBundle r = ResourceBundle.getBundle("java.text.resources.LocaleElements", locale);
Which is very wrong as the "java.text.resources.LocaleElements" is available only until j2sdk 1.3. In the EP5 that runs under 1.3 there's no problem but EP6 uses j2sdk 1.4 and this packages has been relocated from the standard package to a "ext" (extension) package and been renamed as "sun.text.resources.LocaleElements".
So, as HTMLx uses this RenderUtil class, I had to decompile the original from the htmlb.jar using JAD and corrected the above line with the following new line or code:
ResourceBundle r = ResourceBundle.getBundle("sun.text.resources.LocaleElements", locale);
More than that, I had to change several places of the HTMLx's HxInputFieldRenderer to reflect the class name changes made to the CSSs of the EP6. In the new version SAP does not open a pop-up window for the DatePicker. Instead they chose to rewrite it as a dynamic layer. So the HTMLx code has to change to reflect that.
Here follows the workaround version of HxInputFieldRenderer.java (notice that some strings are not internationalized, I just copied and pasted the parts I needed, so it's not a definitive version, but will help you get a clue of what to do):

Reagards,
Mouli -
Need help with Hard Disk usage selection.
I am going to get a Mac Pro and I am goint to probably use Final Cut Studio and Photoshop. This is the Hard Disk setup I was thinking of:
Bay 1:WD Raptor X 150GB - OS X and some big applications.
Bay 2:Stock 250GB - Downloads and some programs
Bay 3:750GB Seagate - Music, photos, and videos (Multimedia)
Bay 4:120GB - Scratch Disk for Final Cut Studio and Photoshop
I need recommendations especially about the scratch disk. I need to know if the scratch disk is recommended to have a specific size or speed. Also, instead of the 750GB drive, I would probably wait becaus Seagate might releases a 1TB drive.Would be nice if we could unleash those other two SATA ports sitting unused untiil there are PCI Express controllers. And are there any drive 'kits' or something in the wings to mount two extra drives? do-able?
If you need 400GB for music, photos and video, then yes, 750GB makes sense. And you think you might want/need 1TB? Given the problems RAIDing those "super size" Seagate's and the unacceptable I/O on some drives reported by Barefeats...
Backup concerns: SATA drives in a universal case with hot-swap drive bays so you can use same SATA as you have internally, and where 750GB Seagate would be nice - and expandable. And where a FW800 interface would be acceptable and offer decent performance (maybe even Oxford 912 "RAID" FW).
For now, it might make sense temporarily to use external for one drive, and reserve the internal drive bays for things like scratch and RAID.
With SoftRAID 3.5.x and 3 x 500GB drives, you could create a stripped RAID using the outer tracks and still have non-RAID or even 2nd RAID using the remaining space.
I would not use 120GB drive for anything. 320 (or 300GB because they are affordable and fast) as the smallest density capacity (except for Raptor of course).
Two 500GB drives, or two 750's if the bugs or problems get fixed, and using those in RAID? Heck, remove the 250GB and get 3rd. -
Dispatching events...
Hi,
I am working on a project for a system that will not have a mouse. Ideally I would like the screen to function almost like a video game would -- even though it is not a game. By this I mean that all keystrokes are handled at the window level and dispatched to the correct component depending on the keystroke.
Currently I have inhibited the ability of components on the form to gain focus. When I press a key, the listener associated with the JFrame responds... I then attmpt to use dispatchEvent inside of a case statement to route events to the proper components (In this case a JTextField) The problem is, is that allthough the dispatchEvent call is made, the JTextField doesn't do anything with it. I am just typing characters so I would expect all these keystrokes to show up in the JTextField, but it does not work.
Does anybody know why this might not work?
-BenjaminHere is a code snippet that actually seems to work. The problem was that I was dispatching a keyPressed event rather than a keyTyped.
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.awt.*;
class NoFocus extends JFrame implements KeyListener {
private class JTextFieldNF extends JTextField {
public JTextFieldNF(int size) {
super(size);
public boolean isFocusTraversable() {
return false;
JTextFieldNF tfnf;
public NoFocus() {
tfnf = new JTextFieldNF(20);
getContentPane().setLayout(new FlowLayout());
getContentPane().add(tfnf);
addKeyListener(this);
public void keyPressed(KeyEvent evt) {
public void keyTyped(java.awt.event.KeyEvent evt) {
switch (evt.getKeyCode()) {
// Route up and down key somewhere else
case KeyEvent.VK_UP:
case KeyEvent.VK_DOWN:
break;
// All keystrokes not expicitly used are piped to tfnf
default:
tfnf.dispatchEvent(evt);
public void keyReleased(java.awt.event.KeyEvent A) {
public static void main(String args[])
JFrame frame = new NoFocus();
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
frame.setSize(200,200);
frame.setVisible(true); -
Drawing green halo border with RectBorder
Hello,
I'm trying to create few custom AS2 components which would
look similar to the standard components.
The
component
development checklist by Adobe suggests:
quote:
Use the RectBorder class (mx.skins.halo.RectBorder) rather
than graphical elements to draw borders around objects.
Unfortunately there aren't any docs or examples for that
except the classes in the mx\controls\*.as files.
I have tried the following in my custom AS2 component:
quote:
public function createChildren():Void {
createClassObject(RectBorder, 'border_mc',
this.getNextHighestDepth(),
{ styleName: this, borderStyleName: 'default'});
private function size():Void {
super.size();
border_mc.setSize(width, height);
invalidate();
and I do see a thin grey rectangle border around it now.
But how do I get the standard haloGreen border, like the v2
Button has?
(And I want it to be themeable/skinnable as well)
Thank you for any hints
AlexFirstly, save yourself some typing:
import java.awt.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.io.*;
Secondly, use tags to format your code:
http://forum.java.sun.com/faq.jsp#messageformat
You need to sort out some other stuff. I'm getting a null pointer when I try to run your program. Seems to relate to the following:

How to set DataGrid one cell colour
I want to set one cell colour in DataGrid,for example,when a
set a CheckBox in DataGrid ,I want letset this Cell's colour
changeOne way to work around this, might be to create your own
cellrenderer with an extra backround movie clip. So as you pass the
value of the check box, either you set the fill color of the BG
movie clip or just hide/show the BG clip.
I hope the following brief script might be of help,
class myCell extends UIComponent
var bg:MovieClip;
var cBox:CheckBox;
function createChildren(Void) : Void
// Create a new CheckBox
// Create a new Background Clip
bg = this.createEmptyMovieClip("bg_mc" , 0);
bg.beginFill(color, fill);
bg.moveTo(0, 0);
bg.lineTo(4, 0);
bg.lineTo(4, 4);
bg.lineTo(0, 4);
bg.lineTo(0, 0);
bg.endFill();
size();
function size(Void) : Void
super.size();
this["bg_mc"]._width = width;
this["bg_mc"]._height = height;
invalidate();
function setValue(cellVal) : Void
if (cellVal == true)
bg._visible = true;
else
bg._visible = false;
Notes: BG: is the background movie clip.
You will need to use AS based cellrenderer -
I-phone unlock screen has very large letters and numbers.
I-phone has large letters and numbers on the unlock screen. can see only about 1/4 of the screen it's so large. can't see the slide to unlock bar, only part of the actual time. will not compress with fingers. phone recieves e-mail/phone calls but can't unlock it. tried restore twice and shutting phone off. pulled SIM card too. when it's restoring the screen is normal size as soon as it's finished it goes back to super -size.
I'm having exactly the same problem, but It doesn't do a thing when I tap it twice or even three times. It's just locked on my screen saver. I can unlock it with some difficulty, because the screen is so enlarged. But, then I just get a big screen with numbers. I've reset it multiple ways, but with no luck.
