Gauge in BI Beans

How could I get gauge chart in a JSP page using BI Beans.
1) Will I have to extend any of the BI Commponent? Any example?
2) Is any 3rd party plugin there?
Regards

The gauge graph is not currently exposed in BI Beans but will be provided in the next major release of the product. You could use a third party component to provide this type of functionality and there are a lot to choose from.
Alternatively, if you have access to the full BI10g product stack I would recommend using BI Beans with Discoverer10g and Portal as this will provide the capability to create gauges.
Hope this helps

  • Session bean versus normal bean

    Hi,
    I am at design decision whether to uses a normal Java class or a stateless session bean. I basically need to get data in a list format (read only). I don?t have many users in the system. May be max 60 users online.
    I am thinking of using a fast lane reader. For this I will use a helper class in my web layer maybe doing data access through a DAO. My friends say to use a session bean because of object pooling, clustering etc. I am still convinced a normal class will do. Please help me out with any advice.
    Thanks,
    Gavin

    A Session Bean can be a fast lane reader if you want. The data-reading aspect relates more to Entity Beans than to Session Beans.
    If you're simply after a snapshot of the data then I'd opt for a Session Bean that hits the database directly through a utility class (your fast lane reader).
    EJBs are useful for providing configurable access to resources and get you security, transactional isolation, pooling etc.. These advantages carry an overhead - the EJB life-cycle - which can become prohibitive in some circumstances. However, you'd be unwise to throw away the benefits without first gauging the impact of this overhead.
    It must be noted here that most of the benefits (except security) are probably of little interest to your situation; you don't really need much in the way of clustering or pooling as there's no state being maintained, transactional isolation isn't really relevant either. But then again, how else will you write a server-side component that accesses the database? Or are you going to access the database directly from the client (your web server)? Is the latter a good idea with your dataset? What does this do to your application's configuration? What are the security considerations? Is the number of users likely to increase in future?
    There's no single answer to your problem as it will depend on many factors. I tend to opt for the simplest solution (Entity Beans for a small dataset or a Session Bean accessing the database for a large one) and defer optimisation until bottlenecks can successfully be measured.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to Change Gauge Range Defaults

    When creating a gauge, it prompts to set the min and max range, but even when I do that, it still defaults to automatically converting my range to what it thinks I want. I am trying to gauge over 100, but whenever data is over 100, it converts my data to decimals, which just isn't user friendly.
    Is there a way to override the automatic range conversion so that the gauge will measure exactly how I tell it to measure?
    Thanks!

  • How to Remove the "Analyze..." link from Discoverer Gauge Portlets

    Is there a way (a hack, even?) to remove the "Analyze..." link from the Discoverer Gauge portlets? Or, can we redirect that link to point to a different Discoverer Worksheet?
    As a work-around, we're using an HTML portlet below the gauge to link where we want to go, but the "Analyze..." link is still there, so it's confusing to the end user.
    Thanks!

    One quick statement : These customizations are not supported by Oracle. These notes are purely for informational purposes. We cannot guarantee the ability to upgrade your Discoverer environment if you make these changes. Also note that if you want to log TARs and/or bugs against the Discoverer portlets after you have made any of the changes listed in the note shown above, Oracle Support can ask you to back out any changes and reproduce the problem.

  • DVT Gauge error display tabular data

    Hi,
    I have a dvt:gauge and is related to backing bean to get the tabular data.

            String[] rowLabels  = new String[] {"London", "Paris", "New York"};

            return list;

    If you a sample to give is much appreciated.
    How to solve this problem.

    Hi,
    Data Specification - A Data Specification can be used to specify columns or rows of data to be used as the metric value, and threshold, minimum and maximum values. The following example shows how to use a Data Specification for a set of tabular data. This tabular data contains 5 columns and 2 rows. If Data Specification is not used, the following table will generate 10 Gauges that there will be a gauge for each value. Each column has its desired data specification as shown. Sales is assigned to be metric value, Quota is assigned to be the first threshold, etc. This will generate 2 Gauges, one for Boston and one for Chicago, both with metric, minimum, maximum and threshold values specified.
    Desired Spec. Metric Minimum Maximum Threshold 1 Threshold 2
    Name Sales Min Inventory Quota Target
    Boston 40 0 100 30 50
    Chicago 60 0 80 35 70

  • Get the values from the bean class?

    Hi Praveen and all can u please suggest in this,
    I have developped an application In that Create One java class that Extends PageProcesscomponenet and utilizing the Bean That have the Connetion method and retriving the query Based on the Logon customer and spoof customer.
    this functionality I have developped in Pageprocessor component.
    The same functinality I am utilizing another java Class that Extends AbstractPortalcomponent  and utilizing the same Bean.
    But the problem both java classes for I used one Jsp only Dynmic spoof customer will come from the JSP Input filed.
    In the new Java Class How can I capture the Event When I click the Buttong the InputField value capturing into the AbstractPortalcomponent Class.
    I tried like this but It comes as Null Value.
    Event event = myContext.getCurrentEvent();
                              if(event!=null)
                                  InputField ip= (InputField) myContext.getComponentForId("spoofCust");
                                  String spoofCust=ip.getValue().toString();
    Please suggest me in this.
    What is wrong with this.

    Lohitha,
    Try replacing your two lines of code:
    InputField ip= (InputField) myContext.getComponentForId("spoofCust");
    String spoofCust=ip.getValue().toString();
    with:
    InputField ip = (InputField) getComponentByName("spoofCust");
    String spoofCust = ip.getValueAsDataType().toString();
    Let me know how that works for you.

  • What is the better way to open and close connection in bean

    Hello, may i ask about the best way to open and close the connection?
    At the first, the connection code is store in Conn class bean. The JSP page will call a method in Process bean to process the query and update of database. the Process bean is using th Conn to connect to database.
    In my process bean, it have a method for each type of sql like select, insert, update, and delete for each tables. Each method will call the Conn to open and close the connection. The jsp page can simply call a method retrieve or update records.
    However, when calling the processUpdate method, it is a method that update a group of tables base on the query result of another group of tables and calculation. If I calling the query method in the same bean file, it will open and close the connection many times (more than 1000 times). After open and close the connection several times, the connection to mySQL will be fail.
    Currently, i include 2 method in Process that is only calling the Conn to open the connection and close connection. When calling the openConnection method, it will also set the boolean connected in the class to true and call Conn to open connection. When calling the closeConnection method, it will also set the boolean connected in the class to false and call Conn to close connection.
    After that, i add some change to the query method which is when the connected is false, it will open the connection by calling the Conn and close the connection themself. If the connected is true, it will not call the Conn to open and close the connection because it already connected to the database.
    Now, i when i calling the query method in jsp, it can open the connection and close the connection individually. When i call the processUpdate in the jsp, this method will calling the openConnection before calling the query and calling closeConnection at the end. It not only faster the process(less open and close), it also no cause the connect to mySQL fail error again. However, it also make the coding in the bean file more longer and complex.
    Is there have any better solution?

    Use connection pooling. This will put the connection management in the hands of the webserver, not your code. Check out this post:

  • Bean is not working in jsff

    hi All
    i developed 4 .jsff fragments and i have included in jspx page .
    i created one bean with 4 variable and i crated datacontrole for the same bean .
    when i am mapping these variables with components which are in .jsff fragments . the values are not coming .
    when i run the .jspx page i am not getting any error and i am getting out put without values which i have written and mapped in the bean .
    Any one please help me.

    Sounds like you are including jsff in the jspx using jsp:include, this approach may not help you if the jsff is built using ADF Binding. Please note that jsp:include will load only the page definition file associated with the parent/containing page.If you are planning to reuse jsff, try defining it as taskflow and embed the same as a region in the jspx

  • Can anybody recommend me on the strain gauges which are attached along a steel bar, say, 3 mm in diameter, and can respond at a sampling rate of 100 kHz?

    Or anybody has similar application, it would be very grateful if you can share your experience.

    Many thanks for your information. We are about to investigate the dynamic performance of soil anchorage subject to dynamic impulse in a geotechnical centrifuge. Basically, 5 model anchorages (3 mm in diameter) are to be constructed. Each model anchorage is instrumented with 1 accelerometer, 1 load cell and 6 strain gauges. Therefore, the minimum instrumentation would be
    1) 30 strain gauges
    2) 5 accelerometers
    3) 5 load cells
    It is worth noting that all the instruments would eventually reside in a geotechnical centrifuge operating in a 10g gravitational field. Whilst the DAQ system would experience much less 'g force' since they are to be placed close to the rotation axis of the machine.
    These model anchorages would be tested one by one dyn
    amically on each individual basis, whilst the other four are also preferably to be monitored during the tests. For an active model anchorage which is under testing, simultaneous sampling is preferred for its 8 sensors to be measured at the same instant in time (Besides, it is also understood that the natural frequency of the model anchorage is estimated to be in the range of several kHz). For the other four model anchorages, simultaneous sampling could be less demanding. It would therefore be ideal that simultaneous sampling can be switched among the active testing model anchorages.
    I am greatly appreciated if you can further advise me on this. Thanks in advance.

    One reason that I sometimes get 'NoSuchMethodError' is when I make a change to a
    java class that is imported into another java class. When I go to run the
    importing class, it will throw a 'NoSuchMethodError' on any methods that I've
    changed in the imported class. The solution is to recompile the importing class
    with the changed classes in the classpath.

  • How can i design a EJB application using session Beans?

    Hello,
    I am designing a Find application using EJB. Here a user is prompted a search page, where he can enter the search criteria's. Then on click of submit, the query is formed at the server side depending on what criteria's were selected. Then a jdbc query is performed and the results are returned back to the user. Here no session is maintained for the users. Can anyone suggest me how to design this application using EJB. Should i use entity beans for this or session beans will suffice? Should the jdbc query be performed in the bean itself or should it be outside in a helper class? Please kindlu suggest me the design for this application...
    Regards,
    Subbu

    Hi,
    First of all, I'm unable to figure out why you need to use EJB for this scenario. You can write a helper class to frame and execute the query.
    If you really want to use EJB, then I suggest you use a stateless Session Bean with transaction attribute as TX_NOT_SUPPORTED. From the session bean, you can call the helper class. But, by avoiding the session bean, you can eliminate remote calls, thus improving your performance. Also, check if the database & the db driver you are using supports sql caching.

    Raj.

  • How to select a specific column in a bean method?

    Hey everyone,
    I'm trying to select a specific column in my adf table so i can hightlight the ones i can after, with a method bean that does a match from another table. I'm using JDeveloper 12.1.2.0.0.
    Here's my table at the moment (its a static list that Timo and Alejandro helped me create, thanks to them again!):
    <af:table value="#{bindings.Anos1.collectionModel}" var="row"
                                                              rows="#{bindings.Anos1.rangeSize}"
                                                              emptyText="#{bindings.Anos1.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
                                                              rowBandingInterval="0" fetchSize="#{bindings.Anos1.rangeSize}"
                                                              filterModel="#{bindings.Anos1Query.queryDescriptor}"
                                                              queryListener="#{bindings.Anos1Query.processQuery}"
                                                              filterVisible="false" varStatus="vs" id="t5"
                                                              styleClass="AFStretchWidth" columnSelection="multiple"
                                                              inlineStyle="max-width:100%;" columnStretching="multiple"
                                                              columnSelectionListener="#{ControlBean.onAnoColumnSelect}"
                                                              disableColumnReordering="true"
                                                              binding="#{ControlBean.dimAnos}">
                                                        <af:column sortProperty="#{bindings.Anos1.hints.A2011.name}"
                                                                   filterable="true" sortable="false"
                                                                   headerText="2011"

                                                                           shortDesc="#{bindings.Anos1.hints.A2011.tooltip}"

                                                        <af:column sortProperty="#{bindings.Anos1.hints.A2013.name}"
                                                                   filterable="true" sortable="false"
                                                                   headerText="2013"
                                                                   id="c56" width="16%">
                                                            <af:outputText value="#{row.A2013}"
                                                                           shortDesc="#{bindings.Anos1.hints.A2013.tooltip}"
                                                                           id="ot56">

                                                            </af:outputText>
                                                        </af:column>
                                                    </af:table>
    I've deleted some of the columns because they are all equal and by doing so, you have less problems in reading it.
    In my method i have a matchEm but i'm trying to select a column by using this line:
            dimAnos.setColumnSelection("A2012");
    dimAnos is the binding for my table Anos (Years in Portuguese). I even tried another values fro the columnSelection but i couldn't make it selected. Am i doing anything wrong?
    Please help me or give me an idea of how can i do this.
    Regards,
    Frederico.

    Hi Frederico,
    The method setColumnSelection is meant to set whether your table supports column selection or not. It doesn't select the column. In order to select the column, you need to set the column attribute Selected to true. So I don't know if its an option for you but you can create a binding to all the columns you have in you bean, and then call the method A2012.setSelected(true), and then add a partial target to the table to re render it and show the selected column.
    Hope this helps

  • How to track log information in a bean?

    I would like to track some information, e.g., variable value, error, in a bean.
    I am using System.out.prinln in the bean. I did not see any in the log file of Tomcat5. But this information was shown if from Servelet class.
    I also tried to pass error information to class logger, but I do not where the class logger is?
    Is it a file somewhere?
    Guangming

    A good idea is to use something like Log4J to handle logging in your application. You do have to be careful if your application is clustered and there is serialization involved since your logger won't be serializable, causing clustering to fail (I swear it didn't happen to me)....
    private transient Logger log = null;
    protected final Logger getLogger() {
        if (this.log == null)
            this.log = LogFactory.getLogger(this.getClass());
        return this.log;
    }

  • Error while adding a new method to the Session Bean

    Hello everyone. I'm using jdev 11g, ejb, jpa & jsf. Everything works fine. But when I try to add a custom method to the Session Bean, I'm having an error.
    Here is my steps:
    1) I added a new method to SessionBean.java. Something like this:
    public void Hello() {
    System.out.println("Hello!");
    2) Then using Structure palette I exposed this method through Local interface and created data control
    3) Finally, I made a command button binded to this method (just droped it from DataControls.dcx to my page)
    When I start the page and click the button, I'm having the following error:
    Error 500--Internal Server Error
    javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: Method not found: Hello.execute(javax.faces.event.ActionEvent)
         at org.apache.myfaces.trinidadinternal.taglib.util.MethodExpressionMethodBinding.invoke(MethodExpressionMethodBinding.java:58)

         at oracle.adf.view.rich.component.fragment.ContextSwitchingComponent$1.run(ContextSwitchingComponent.java:70)
    ... (I've truncated the log because there is nothing important in the missing part)

    Yes, I have binding in the page def. Everything is correct there:
    <methodAction id="Hello" RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="invokeMethod"
    MethodName="Hello" IsViewObjectMethod="false"
    DataControl="PriceServiceLocal"
    InstanceName="PriceServiceLocal.dataProvider"/>
    I've droped the method from the Data Controls panel
