Gcc compiled XDD only detects 1 cpu

I recently installed XDD for benchmarking a RAID array, but noticed it only detects one of the four cores on my Q6600.

The program is compiled from source with an OS specific makefile provided by the author.  For compilation, I ran
make -f linux.makefile xdd
as suggested in the FAQ.  Is there a way to compile this program so it properly detects all 4 cores on the processor?
Here is the source and the contents of linux.makefile:

I have sent an email concerning this problem to the author.  Any advise in the meantime would still be quite helpful.  Once resolved, I will submit an XDD package to the AUR.

  • System only detects 96mb after installing new 128mb stick of ram

Just purchased a new stick of unbranded 128mb DDR PC2100 memory from PC Club and after installing it, my system only detects 96mb.  I tried it in both slots & get the same results.  I've just recently put together an MSI KM2M Combo motherboard with the AMD Duron cpu (FSB 100) & the ram was my last step. Why doesn't it detect the full 128mb ?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions !!

:D Yup, what Bas say was rite, you can try change the share Video memory to another amount....and then try to see does the amount is changing...if yes..then is the Video Share Memory who make the amount of RAM less......
If it does not....then try to check see your RAM has how many chip on it..... coz, as i know old Mainboard does not support 4 CHIP RAM..... Minimum must have 8 CHIP for support the old mainboard....

  • K8T Master 2 FAR dual Opteron 250 Vista 64bit BIOS 1.4 only 1 CPU show!!! Help!!

    Hi,
I am new to this forum but had been working on this problems for a week!
    Here my system:
    MSI K8t Master 2 FAR
    ECC ram 2GB
Dual Opteron 250 replaced the dual Opteron 242 one week ago
    BIOS upgrade to 1.4
Window Vista 64bit from Window XP Pro
The POST, Device Manager detect two new CPUs. However, there are only one CPU being utilize in task manager (yes, I have check one graph per CPU). It appear from the forum that BIOS 1.35B5? would work but I could not find it. Try to install Window XP Pro but failed (flopppy drive does not work).
Any help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

With BIOS 1.1 and dual Opteron 242, I have both CPU work as shown by Device manager and task manager (two CPU graphs). I can only get one CPU work since I upgrade to Opteron 250 and BIOS 1.4. Unfortunately BIOS 1.1 do not support Opteron 250.

I tried. More stable then 1.47, but not fully workable. Second CPU dont work, Smart fan dont work, if 4Gb installed -> CPU kernel time load 60-70% permanently. Last stable workable release is 1.35, but i have slow down if install LSI 21320R.
1.35 appear to be last stable version reported by users

  • TTClasses C++ Shared Objs Names And gcc Compiler Versions

3 versions of the TTClasses libraries are shipped with TimesTen due to the fact that gcc 3.2, 3.4. and 4.1 produce binaries that are not compatible with each other. For instance with 7.0.2 has the following libraries:
    libttclasses.so.gcc323
    libttclasses.so.gcc346
    libttclasses.so.gcc410
It appears the naming convention of these libraries indicates the gcc compiler version out to 3 digits that TimesTen used to create the libraries.
As new releases of TimesTen occur, when will the names of these 3 libraries change, i.e. when will TimesTen use a different version of the gcc compiler?
It appears that in 7.0.2, 7.0.2.2, and 7.0.3, the names of libraries don't change. Would it only be possible for them to change for a major release, i.e. 7.X. Could it change for a minor release like 7.0.3.X or 7.0.X?
The reason that I'm asking this is as follows:
    - When the TimesTen installer is run, it checks version of the gcc compiler, then it creates a symbolic link to the appropriate lib for that version of the compiler. It names this link libttclasses.so.
    - Up to now we have been linking our programs with libttclasses.so.
    - However when TimesTen is run on a machine without a compiler (which is the situation in our QA and prod environment), it appears to create a link to the gcc 3.2 lib.
    - This is a problem for us on Red Hat 4.0 because the default compiler is 3.4 which is what we are using, but the installer is creating a link to libttclasses.gcc323 when there is no compiler on Red Hat 4.0.
    - This causes our programs to crash.
    - To eliminate this we are considering linking directly with the appropriate library, i.e. libttclasses.gcc346 in our case.
    - However, we dont want to have to recompile or relink or application for future minor releases of TimesTen, i.e. 7.0.3.X or 7.0.X.
    - If the names of these files could change in minor releases, then we'd need to relink.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
    Thanks.

As you say, the names of the libraries comes directly from the GCC version used to build them. These names (i.e. GCC vesions) will not change between minor releases. Over time and major releases will tend to drop support for older GCC versions and add support for newer versions.
Our strong recommendation is that you change the symbolic link to make libttclasses.sp point to the correct library and then link with libttclasses.so. This is the simplest and most 'future proof' method.

  • RD480 Neo2-FI only detects 3 out of 4 gigs of memory HELP!!

Hi guys, I just put together a barebones PC from Tigerdirect. I have 4 1024Mb sticks of ULTRA DDR400 memory, the bios and operating system will only detect 3. I have swapped the sticks around, removed one at a time, ect, and they all seem to work by themselves. Has anyone had an issue like this before? My troubleshooting has been limited as I feel consulting with this forum for ideas is probably better then a day of easter egging the problem. Here are my specs. The Bios is the original that came with the board. I havent updated it because I havent heard of any update fixing this problem nor do I have a floppy drive and the MSI update utility is incompatible with the 64 bit version of windows.
-Motherboard type and model (MSI 7194, RD480 Neo2 FI)
-Bios type and revision (American MegaTrends Version 8.12, SMBIOS/DMI Version 2.30) From SISsandra
-CPU type and model (AMD Athlon 64 3700 SanDiego Core Socket 939)
    -Memory name, model and quantity (ULTRA ULT30082 PC3200 400MHz, (4) 1024MB modules)
-Video card name and model plus drivers and version (EVGA e-GeForce 7600 GT KO)
-Power Supply name, model and the amp rating for the +3.3V, +5V and +12V lines plus any limitation on the +3.3/+5V combined watts.   ULtra V-series 350W 3.3V@18 AMPS, 5V@ 18AMPS, 12V@ 25Amps
-Hard Drives: Seagate, 8 gig IDA hard drive
    -Optical Drives: 1 52x cdr
-Microsoft Widows xp pro x64 edition
thanks any help is better then no help...I'm hoping I am just missing a setting or something..thanks again,
    Gene

I think this may be an issue with the processor not the motherboard.  Athlon 64 processors have the memory controller built-in on the cpu.  I dont think the 939 socket A64 rev E6 memory controller can support 8 banks (4 double-sided ddr modules) at 400 MHz.  Try to manually force the memory speed to 266 MHz or 333 MHz and you may be able to access all 4gb of ram.
EDIT: I looked around a little and I see suggestions that the problem of being able to max out the banks at 400mhz was already remedied by the E6 revision memory controller, so this may not be helpful  Earlier cores had significant memory controller constraints and could not run 4 gb unless you turned down the memory speed or ran single-sided ram (most 512mb and 1gb  modules are dual-sided).

  • Color using only one CPU?

When rendering with Color it seams that it using only one CPU, according to "top".

Color's work is done on the GPU not the CPU, so unfortunately, the answer to your question is, no.

  • Logic 8 using only one CPU while bouncing

Whenever I bounce a project, Logic 8 uses only one CPU. It also spikes this CPU completely, with the CPU meter going into the red area, which is why I am rather keen on persuading Logic to distribute the load.
    Any ideas?
(I've given the support document with tips on how to balance multi-core performance a good read, but it doesn't seem to say anything on this particular subject, and following the advice in the document does nothing to change my CPU load.)

Bouncing is a single core process. Just like rendering is in Final Cut Pro. This won't change until Leopard and Apple's ProApps get better at handling multiple cores.
It's redlining because the processor core is working as fast as it can. Computer processors don't just randomly run slower, they use their resources for the tasks at hand. If it only used 50% of a core, the bounce would take twice as long to process.

  • Dual Core G5 using only one CPU

Anyone has an idea about what happened to me last week? Here is what happened:
I let my dual 2.3 GHz Power Mac G5 run over night to run a certain task. When I came back the following morning, the fans were running like crazy and the computer was frozen. I had to reset it. After that it started up, but from then on only used one CPU. In System Profiler as well as in Activity Monitor, only one CPU is shown. After some more days, it would not turn on anymore, not even with one CPU.
What to do now? Thanks for helping me out...

It is insurance. It keeps a system running so you can do a safe shutdown. It protects the boot drive from directory corruption. Protects wired ethernet port from getting fried (someone last week's sad tale).
"Nice idea." Well, yes. Can you drive a car without insurance? I'll take UPS and help protect my systems.
If you want to leave a system running unattended and not come back to a dead or dying system... I have read enough tales of woe that "but it was working yesterday" and "we've had some storms but lights stayed on" that I don't take chances. And I often give advice that isn't 1:1 correlation. Like "backup daily" and "run disk repairs before there is a problem."
    maybe it over-heated, too.

  • Can i use a GCC compiler on MacOSX and link this C Code to lbv 6.1 on OS9?

I am interested in compiling my C code on the free GCC compiler which works with Mac OS X but am concerned that I will not be able to connect this with the Call library function and CINs in labview 6.1 that runs on Mac OS 9. Am I able to cross platforms and use the .so file with lbv 6.1 on OS 9? What problems will i most likely encounter or should watch out for? Thanks!

Unfortunately, you cannot port shared objects across these platforms. You are going to have to recompile the .so file on OS 9 for use in the call library function node.

        THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!

In OS X, GCC is part of Xcode's command tools, so first, open the Mac App Store and install Xcode for free.
Then, open Xcode, go to Xcode menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Downloads, and install Command Line Tools. You will get commands like gcc, make, purge...

  • Computer can't detect iphone 4, only detected as camera

My friend lent me his iphone 4 until i can change my phone, so i went home and connected it to my computer but it only detected it as a still camera.
I tried reinstalling itunes and all other advice suggested by people but it still can't be detected. But when I connected it to my brother's computer itdetected it right away. Anyone knows a solution to this? i owned an iphone 3gs before but never encountered this problem. Any help would be great. Thanks

It is a camera, that is all a computer will ever detect an iPhone as.
Is the issue that iTunes does not detect the device?  If so, http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538

  • MAXDB on LINUX use only one CPU

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding the usage of parameter MAXCPU. I have set it the value 3. But I do see only one cpu used and almost at 100% with the command "top".
My release is MAXDB 7.7 and the kernel for Linux is SMP.
Someone can tell me what influence this behaviour?
    thank you all

    Hi,
The database kernel runs as one process divided into threads. Did you start top -H to check the Cpu-Usage?
Threads can be active in parallel on several processors within the operating system. Threads perform various tasks.
MaxCPU has influence on the number of Threads which are created during restart.
In your case after restart you have 3 Threads ( UKT ) -> you can check this with x_cons show all
How many threads are active in parallel depends on the distribution of the User Tasks on the Threads and the applications which are connected to the User Tasks.
x-cons <DBNAME> show active shows the status of the different Tasks in an UKT. Notrice that an UKT can contain several Tasks but at one time only one Task in The UKT can have the CPU.
MaxDb manages this via internal dispatching.
You will find more information about the process structure in the Expert Sessions recording and slides of session: Session 18: SAP MaxDB Architecture
You can download the session here ->   SAP MaxDB: The SAP Database - Training

  • Apple TV Home Sharing only detects Macbook Pro but not iPads

    Hello
My Apple TV (2nd gen) will only detect my Macbook Pro on Home Sharing. I have two iPads (1st gen and iPad Mini) both updated to the latest iOS but they just wont show up on apple TV home sharing.
    Any thoughts?
The software on all devices is up to date, and all devices are connected to the same network.

Your first generation iPad is only capable of basic AirPlay, instruction for basic AirPlay are:
Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
Your problems on the iPad mini, indicate a network problem at your end, perhaps the distances are too great or you have interference on your network.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Only 1 CPU usage.

    Hi,
My server have 4 CPUs, when I try some complex queries I found that CPU usage is only 25%, so only 1 CPU is working.
    SQL> SHOW PARAMETER cpu;
    cpu_count integer 4
    parallel_threads_per_cpu integer 2
    I saw this post:
Re: Oracle utilize only 1 CPU
I have two difference instances running. I have got the problem with the second instance, and it has shared_server=1, so I change its value to 0.
But it didn´t solve the problem.
Is there any other parameter I have to change ?
    thank you!

    Well i try these step:
    1) In one instance I do :
    SET max_shared_server, and shared_server to 0.
    ALTER SYSTEM SET DISPATCHERS = '';
    2) I shutdown the other instance (shutdown immediate), It still have shared_server= 1, i didn't´t change it, i supposed
    3) I query:
    select * from V$DISPATCHER;
    select * from V$SHARED_SERVER;
    Tables are empty
    4) I test CPU usage, with this query:
    insert into table2
    select extract(value(t), '/item') from table1 t
    5) I got the same result before I change parameters:
5.1) Always exist one CPU at 100% . we will call it CPU-1
5.2) When CPU-1 fall to 0% another CPU-2 grows to 100%. (CPU-3 = 0% and CPU-4 =0%). When CPU-2 fall, other will grow, it could be CPU-1 or any other.
5.3) All CPUs are used, but only one each time
As result, only one CPU is used, so my system is 25% always. How can I used 4 CPUs at same time ?
    Should I change anything?
Is there other param I should change ?
    Im using:
    select * from product_component_version
