General query about SAP

Hi,
Would the installed Products & relevant Components be present in the Database? How can we query the Database to obtain this information? Which DB Privileges would we need? would those privileges database specific like for oracle and ms sql?
Is there a way to obtain the same information that Easy Access shows, via Command Line? Is there a command that, given the relevant options, will query SAP, and return information in the stdout?
Regards,
MNA

Would the installed Products & relevant Components be present in the Database?
-Yes, always...
How can we query the Database to obtain this information?
-By select statements on the tables already specified
Which DB Privileges would we need?
-All depends on the platform and db type. Means, you need enough authentication and authorizations to access the tools specific to the database vendor to run the query you want. So, database administrator user, like orasid (oracle on SAP), db2sid (db2 on sap) etc...should be able to login into sqlplus(oracle), db2 prompt(DB2), query analyzer(MSSQL) tools.
would those privileges database specific like for oracle and ms sql?
-Yes, refer to specific database guides for details. However, database administrator user is created automatically in all databases and this is normally referred as same in all DBs. But, theoritically speaking, actuall naming conventions are very specific the database vendor.
Is there a way to obtain the same information that Easy Access shows, via Command Line? Is there a command that, given the relevant options, will query SAP, and return information in the stdout?
in DB2, you use db2 command line processor db2clp. in MSSQL, you use the query analyzer. In Oracle, you use SqlPlus. To save the output of the query, you can use the SPOOL command.

  • General Question about SAP Documentation. Where to find?

    Hello,
I am relatively new in the SAP business and so I have some general questions about the SAP Documentation.
    Often internet-links like
    http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/FIBP/FI-AP-AP-PT.pdf
are posted here by group members.
But where do these group members find these documents?
All I can see at help.sap.com is IDES (the model company created by SAP)and the WWW-version of the SAP-Bibliothek.
Were can I find these PDF-Files?
I would appreciate any hint and tip!
    Thank you!

Where can i get motre information about this note .

    Hi
To check the SAP Notes you need to have the OSS User Id to logon.
Goto www.service.sap.com-> SAP Support Portal--> Enter your OSS User ID
Search for required SAP Note. And open the Note.
The SAP Note describes you the how to modify the program,.
First check the Componet information from your SAP system.. Goto> system> status---> Component Information.
Then for each Component (SAP_APPL -- 470, 500, 600....)there will be different modification.
Now choose your Component and replace the code from SAP Note Correction instructions to your SAP Syatem.

  • General Query About Freelance Designer Fees

I've always wondered what other freelancers charge for various websites. I've read where noobs are getting away with charging $1000 for a very simple 4 page static website (which they admit to using templates) - which I always feel obligated to email the website owner to tell them they got screwed (especially when half the website doesn't work).
The online reports I've read really are so scattered, they offer no insight. The websites I create are always built from scratch, everything is custom designed and coded (unless I use a 3rd party effect) - CSS, JavaScript, etc.
Just for the hell of it, what would you (assuming you are an actual designer and not a template noob) charge for something like:
6 page html website with mostly text and graphics (all graphic are supplied) - photo editing more than likely needed
    Copy editing more than likely
E-Commerce cart linked to PayPal (I can custom build this without using any 3rd party software)
That's about the meat of it. If you throw in your quote, let me know where you are from (state/country). I'm interested in what people charge world wide. I'd also like to hear any other words of advise about how much others charge. I know I've been under charging for years, but once you get into that hole, it's hard to jump out of it knowing you are still being fair.

I'm going to try and not lose my temper on this, but there is always one in the crowd that sets me off... I hate it when a simple question turns into someone trying to teach.
    Rob Hecker2
what you are describing is the website of ten years ago. Virtually every potential client I talk to wants a CMS
Thanks for the backhanded comment. Just because whatever clientele you run into may want CMS doesn't mean everyone else in the world does. Each time a potential client mentions wanting to update their own website, the more I ask about the time they have to commit to it and their basic knowledge of what may be involved (photo editing, etc), they quickly realize it's not worth their time to learn basic skills and therefore allow me to continue to update the website. I mean, web design isn't JUST about creating the thing and severing the client's need for your services anymore. If you just focus on CMS websites, then you are losing out on the updates. Just because YOU don't do something doesn't mean the fact others may do it means they are any less experienced.First of all, online e-commerce didn't really take off until the very late 90's / early 2000, so I don't know how my description would be desribed as something 10 years ago as if it was already so outdated in these current times.
For one thing, the focus of my work is creating business logic with PHP/MySQL, not creating HTML layouts
Well good for you. I'm more on the graphical/context side of small business websites. While your focus is different, there is no need to assume my experience is any less in what I do. If you build websites in which you know there will be no follow-up money coming in (for updates), then it makes no sense for you to lower your rates based on that. That's just financial suicide.
You might turn up your nose to WordPress and template noobs
No, I don't turn my nose up to template noobs. I wanted to focus answers from the people who custom build.
If you are in the business of building websites that can be defined as "six page html website with mostly text and graphics" then I think you are operating at the lower end of the website industry. Pardon my bluntness, but you are trying to figure out where you fit in the industry. Right?
Backhanded comment #2. It was a general description to give a visual of what kind of content this scenario website pertains to. Pardon my bluntness, but your comments are not only arrogant, but also you have totally misread my topic and taken it to a level of insults. I thought I explained quite well I knew I was asking such a vague question and was simply looking for ranges of figures (whether it be hourly or simply based on there being an e-commerce cart). I'm NOT looking for comparisons (as someone else suggested). I simply wanted to get a range (even if it was wildly vague and random), and most seemed to misread what I was trying to ask. Everyone else at least offered "some" insight - while all I read from you was insults. You should have edited your response to just include your $600-$2000 range - since that's the only non-insulting thing I could pull out.
To everyone else, thanks for whatever insight you gave. I'm moving away from this thread before I lose my temper.

  • Query about SAP locks /enqueue objects

I have created an lock object for a bespoke table which has 5 key fields.  For arguments sake let's call them
    WERKS QMGRP QMCOD OTGRP OTEIL.
The problem I have is the following:
User 1 has a house profile that can access the following data:
    WERKS QMGRP QMCOD OTGRP OTEIL
    9026  HOUSE CUST
User 2  has a functional profile which gives them access to the following:
    WERKS QMGRP QMCOD OTGRP OTEIL
    9026  HOUSE CUST
    9026  HOUSE CUST   CS    C001
    9026  HOUSE CUST   CS    C002
I am building a front-end to the table to enable the users to change data associated with these keys.  My problem is the following.  If User 2 locks the entries,(s)he has access to first, the user 1 entry will be locked to changes,  which is correct.  If, however, user 1 locks its entry first, <b>all</b> of user 2's entries are locked even though only the first entry is allowed to be accessed by both.  I think this is happening because the SAP lock object does not recognise '   ' '    ' as a separate value to 'CS' 'C001'.  It thinks because 9026 HOUSE CUST '   ' '    ' is locked, then the other entries should be locked because they share 9026 HOUSE CUST from the key, even though there are other values in the key following 9026 HOUSE CUST.
What I want is if user 1 locks its entry first, then only the entry that matches the key  totally for user 2 is locked, leaving the other 2 entries to which user 2 has access free to be edited.
Is there a way I can get the SAP lock object to recognise this eitehr by changing the enqueue function module or by the way I cal the enqueue object or not?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Hope this makes sense
    Larissa

    Hi Larissa,
As far as I know, You cannot change generated enqueue function module. The other way as i think might work would be to create a new FM and do manipulation (for space to be changed as some other value) before calling this generated Enqueue FM.
    Hope this helps.

    Vicky

  • Query about SAP ABAP programming?

I am not good at programming but wanted to make a career in SAP. SAP counselor said that being a fresher it is extremely difficult to find a job in other modules and ABAP is the only option for me, but she said that programming is not that hard in ABAP, only have to remember ABAP dictionaries and rest is not that hard btwn one of my friend said that one cannot learn ABAP without having knowledge in C++ or .Net and there will be some OOPS concepts that need to be learnt before learning ABAP. Are the concepts not taught in ABAP. Plz state your opinion. I am not good programmer but a hard worker

    Hi Dude,
Don't worry, no people born as genius.
    1. ABAP is a nice programming language and you can start learning ABAP by yourself too, but you need someone at very first stage.
    2. ABAP is also having OOPs concept, it is not that much hard to understand.
    3. If you knew any other programming language then it would be much easy to go with ABAP, means if you know one programming language then other programming language would be easy to learn, because concept wise all programming language same, only syntax would vary.
    So, all the best.

  • Query in SAP don't shows more than 2 decimals

    Hi!
I'm trying to create a query that shows the Currency for each operation by day, in this case are the payments, the operations. But the problem is that my query get all the payments when the paymeny is by local currency and foreign currency, i mean when is dollars and when is pesos, so even when the payments are in pesos whe need to get the currency of the dollar at these day, so my query get the currency from the table of the currencies when is in pesos and when is in dollars it get the currency from the payments table, so this is my query.
    Reporte de Pagos
    /SELECT FROM OINV T1/
    DECLARE @FECHA AS DATETIME
    /* WHERE */
    SET @FECHA = /* T1.DocDate */ [%0]
    /SELECT FROM OINV T2/
    DECLARE @FECHA2 AS DATETIME
    /* WHERE */
    SET @FECHA2 = /* T2.DocDate */ [%1]
    SELECT DISTINCT T0.[DocNum],T1.[DocEntry],T2.[NumAtCard],T0.[CheckAcct],T0.[DocType],T0.[Canceled],T0.[CardName],T0.[DocDate],

    WHEN T0.[DocCurr] = 'MXP' THEN T0.[DocTotal]
    END AS 'Total'
    CASE
    WHEN T0.[DocRate] = 0 THEN (SELECT CAST(T3.[Rate] AS float) FROM ORTT T3 WHERE T3.[RateDate] = T0.[DocDate])
    WHEN T0.[DocRate] <> 0 THEN CAST(T0.[DocRate] AS float)
    END AS 'T.C.'
    ,T0.[DocCurr],

    INNER JOIN OINV T2 ON T1.[DocEntry] = T2.[DocEntry]
    WHERE T0.[DocDate] >= @FECHA
    AND T0.[DocDate] <= @FECHA2
The real problem is that with this, the query just bring me 2 decimals in the currency and i need at least 4 decimal, i don't know what happen because if i run the query in the SQL Management Studio the decimals are correct it brings me more than 4 decimals, but when i run the same query inside SAP Query Manager it brings me just 2 decimals.
    How can i fix that?
    Hope you help me.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards!
    Xavier

    Xavier,
This is because the decimal place setting in General Settings > Display tab is 2 decimals.  Similar question has been raised a few times on this Forum and I will send you the link when I find it.
In the meanwhile the hint is to use CAST function.

  • Query about the "User Decision

    Hi,
I have a query about the u201CUser Decisionu201D, Suppose I have received the 10 quantity and lot get created for 10. At time of UD (QA11) I put 7 quantities in unrestricted and 3 in blocked stock .what we generally use to do with that block stock? Whether we again transfer it to quality stock (Movement 349)? Or move directly to unrestricted (movement: 343).
I tried to move the blocked stock in u201Cquality stocku201D in transaction MB1B with movement 349 but it had given error u201CChange the inspection stock of material 9112223334A in QM onlyu201D. In QM how to transfer the blocked stock in quality stock?
    Regards,
    PK

    Dear Prashanth,
Quantity of 3 is rejected so you blocked it? why you want to bring it again to Quality? Use of putting in block is as follows:
Since quantity of 3  is rejected  and need to be kept aside you are blocking the stock, the purchase person will send back this material to vendor directly from block stock (MBRL or MIGO). This is best practice.
There can be other situation that your vendor came to your place and done rework om that 3 blocked items and you are satisfied with the quality then you can use respective movement for transferring from block to unrestricted, if you want lot to be generated then assign 08 insp type and do inspection.
Hope this will help you better.
    Best Regards,
    Shekhar

  • Difference between sap query and sap ad hoc query

    Hello Experts-
Is there any difference between sap query and sap ad hoc query. If yes, I will appreciate if you can provide some input.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    SAP Query
    Purpose
The SAP Query application is used to create reports not already contained in the default. It has been designed for users with little or no knowledge of the SAP programming language ABAP.
SAP Query offers users a broad range of ways to define reports and create different types of reports such as basic lists, statistics, and ranked lists.
    Features
The SAP Query comprises five components: Queries, InfoSet Query, InfoSets, User Groups and Translation/Query.
Classic reporting- the creation of lists, statistics and ranked lists- are covered by the InfoSet Query and Queries components. Other components’ range of functions cover the maintenance of InfoSets, the administration of user groups and also the translation of texts created in the SAP Query.
All data required by a user for a report can be read from various tables.
To define a report, you first have to enter individual texts, such as titles, and select the fields and options which determine the report layout. In the WYSIWYG mode, you can edit the lists using Drag & Drop and various toolbars.
    AD Hoc Query
    Definition
A Web item that enables you to create and change queries in a Web application on an ad-hoc basis.
    Use
You can use the  Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item in the Web Application Designer to structure Web applications in which you create or change queries. The Web item is as a tool for designing ad-hoc queries in a Web environment.
In particular it enables you to:
    ·        Create queries by assigning characteristics from an InfoProvider to rows, columns, filters, and free characteristics, and including key figures from the InfoProvider in the key figure structure of the query.
    ·        Restrict or filter key figures and characteristics
    ·        Use predefined key figure structures and restricted or calculated key figures in the query
    ·        Set or change query properties and key figure/characteristic properties in the query
    ·        Create or change conditions and exceptions
When compared with the BEx Query Designer, the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item has the following restrictions when creating or changing queries:
    ·        You cannot integrate variables into the query directly.
However, you can use variables in reusable structures, or restricted or calculate key figures, which are used in the Ad-hoc Query Designer
    ·        The query can contain only one structure. This structure has to be the key figure structure and be in the rows or columns of the query.
    -        You cannot use key figures or key figure structures in the filter.
    -        You cannot define exception cells, since this requires two structures.
You cannot create the following objects using the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item:
    -         Reusable structures
    -         Reusable restricted key figures
    -         Reusable calculated key figures
    -        Local calculated key figures
You can create local, restricted key figures using the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item.
You can edit existing queries in the Ad-hoc Query Designer Web item, if the queries adhere to the restrictions laid out above The Ad-hoc Query Designer checks these requirements when loading a query. If the query is too complex, the query can be loaded into the Ad-hoc Query Designer but you cannot change it there. You then receive the appropriate message. You can still check and execute the query.
"Ad Hoc" is a Latin phrase which means "for this purpose" and in today's parlance generally means "on the fly," or "spontaneously."
An ad hoc query is a query that is run at the spur of the moment, and generally is never saved to run again. These queries are run using a SQL statement created by a tool or an administrator. So therefore, such a query is one that might suit a situation which is only there for the moment and later on will become irrelevant.
As queries become more complex, it can be difficult to write them correctly ad-hoc. To help with this, one can instead write the knowledge needed for queries as business rules in English, and then use a system called "Internet Business Logic" to automatically generate and run the SQL queries. One can then get explanations of the results, in English, at the business level.
