General Question - In which way should I store a "UTILS" class

Hi
I'm building a web application, ( Tomcat + JSF + Icefaces )
I got a bunch of methods that are being used in many places...
In which way should i store them , a Static class with static methods or an Instance of that class that will be stored in Application scope, or some other way of storing this class and accessing it?

Utility methods? Just use a final class with a private constructor and only static methods for that.

A quick Google search for Error 2001 would indicate that this occurs when you have a jailbroken phone or were trying to downgrade iOS. Is that true for you?

Where should I keep my utility classes...

Hi All,
I have WAR application and few ejb JARs which are sharing common utility classes. I have created a separate folder for my WAR application. ejb jars also are in the serverclasses folder.
Now the question what's the recommended destination for utility classes. Can I keep them in the WAR application.

If you are totally unsure, you can create a folder somewhere, put the files in it and then add the folder to your $PATH.

BO XI 4.0 or BW 7.3 which way should we go?

I have the following question. In our company we have for historical reason BW 7.01 and BO XI 3.0. For a new project we can now decide which reporting tool we will use. Based on the following information, what would be our best solution? Or should we upgrade to BW 7.3 and BO XI 4.0 and go for a hyprid approach.
1) Two data sources: SAP ERP 2005 and a non-sap database oracle
2) Size of the database source: 500GB
3) only HR data
4) we would need to compare results from different years. example: exectue a report 2007 and compare the result with the results from the report which has been executed in 2008.
As far as I understand all the powerpoints the frontend really goes in the direction of BO, but can BO for example also store data (point 4) to compare different results or can I only use it for adhoc requests.

its part of your strategy. When you want to report directly of your HR System, CR would be your choice, so you dont need a BW. Some customer dont want to report of their transactional systems due to performance reasons. So they choose to ETL their Data into BW, change them in the way they want, and than report of the BW. In this case you could also choose WebI as your reporting tool.
Maybe the best solution would be when you contact your Sales Rep. for BI 4.0 Ramp- up. You could thest both solution than in a PoC.

Afew general questions to which I can't find the answers

Yesterday, I upgraded from a Torch 9810 to a Passport! What a phone! I still have a lot to read, do and set, but there are a few 'small' things I'd like to ask if I may
1. As I have a visual impairment, on my Torch I used an app called 'Font Control - Fancy Font Master'. This meant I could choose the font style and size to use for my apps, which was a fantastic help. However, this does not seem to be supported in Blackberry 10 and, despite my searching, I can't find another app that's similar (either in Blackberry World or the Amazon App Store). Any advice on this would be very welcome.
2. I did try the magnifier function, but it only seems to let you scroll up and down and not side to side, so you can't read a whole line - maybe I have done something wrong with this, but I can't see what.
I am loving my new phone though - well done Blackberry!
Any advice would be great.

Which way should I go

Dear All,
I currently have a large system built using asp's and a backgroung java program (triggered using global.asa via the IIS mechanism). All the hard work is done in the java program and then displayed to the users using the asps.
I want to get away from the Microsoft tie in and need to look at a new method. I don't want to lose the Java program and thus I need something to replace the asp's and also something that can create an instance of a Java program, keep a track of the session etc.
Looked at JSP, also a little of PHP but am curently quite overwhelmed. Would like to hear any recommendations from anyone who has any ideas and experience that they wish to share.

Read the servlet tutorials, servlets and JSP are what you need. Both aren't difficult and mostly the same, but for basic understand, servlets are better because they look less cluttered and contain "real" code. JSP is only for the data rpesentation.
The tutorials are good enough, but maybe a book like Core Servlets and JSP (I think by now available online for free) might help.

I connected my Ipad 2 to the TV by the HDMI cable. I can see mp4 videos stored in my Ipad but I cannot record them on the DVD recorder which is connected to the TV by a SCART connection. In which way can I store my videos avoiding to fill the Ipad memory?

I would go for Java Web Start, since it is:
a wonderful tool
easy to use
gives you full control
you don't have to start your browser to print them cards
But wait for better qualified responses as I haven't written an applaet since school.

Where should I store my bash scripts?

In which directory should I store securely my own bash (and Ruby, Python) scripts? Some of them contain passwords too, for example which uploads files to an FTP server. Is it secure to store them in /usr/local/bin? What chmod setting should I apply on them? 755?

Which Firmware should I use and other questions

Question 1: I am going to get a mac OS x either 10.0 or 10.1 disk on this iMac once I increase the RAM and exchange the processor with a 400 Mhz g3 powerPC processor (From a friends iMac) and get a external hard drive. So which Firmware should I get in this tray loader? I currently have mac os 9.2.2 and plan on updating this baby with mac os x. Can someone please provide a link to the FirmWare?
Question 2: Could I get a cp100 256mb ram and put it in one of my ram slots while I have my original 64mb Ram so it would equal to 320mb? And if so, would mac os x work well with 320mbs of ram?
Question 3: Also, one more question, my brother has a macintosh REALLY old computer and it has Apple Audio CD Player, and I really want to play Audio CDs on this, I also have iTunes 2.0.4 and when I put in a music CD to listen to it on iTunes, it doesnt read it so I then browsed my computer and clicked on iDisk and the computer froze. When you are asking about the ram requirements, you mean what kind fo ram does a tray loader take? In that case, it uses SODIMM PC66 ram.
As for Cd-Burners, externals would have you limited to USB 1 connections since you ahve a tray loading iMac, which is a max 4x speed (slowwwwwww). wegenermedia.com sells an internal replacement if you wanted to go that route, but you're starting to talk about putting a lot of money into an old machine at that point.
You don't need 9.2 to install OS X. The only thing you need to have done is the firmware update.
If you used firmware update 1.2 and it said you may already have newer firmware, then you probably ran it a long time ago and forgot. If you check your apple system profiler, I believe its supposed to say the boot rom is version 3.03f.
10.3 shouldn't be any slower than 10.2 I don't think. Apple's done a good job optimizsing each version of OS X better than its predcessor. But 10.2 was a fine OS as well and can run most OS X software.

In a manufacturing environment, is CM25 more used to finite schedule the work centers or labor or both ?
Is it a good idea to even finite schedule the planned orders or just production orders ? We want to create production orders 1 week ahead of the production schedule and planned orders gets created 3-4 weeks earlier than production order gets created.
The graphical tool seems to be slow sometimes when dispatching and doing some actions on the screen, has any one have any say on this. Should we need to have better computers on the floor for this to work ?

It can be used for both depend upon bottle neck resource whether machine or labour.

Better it should be finite planning for planned order also you can use MRP with lead time scheduling.

It depends upon the data load and selection,
Restrict the number of objects to be displayed, for example, select only a small number of work-centers/orders.
Customize the time profile (transaction OPD2) such that the database read period, the planning period and the evaluation period are as small as possible. As a result, fewer objects are read and displayed.

If you want to process more orders, check whether a batch planning (planning in the background on transaction CM40) is possible.

I am still wondering why iTunes tries to confuse me every time I try to make changes in my preferences, telling me that I "don't have enough permissions", although I am the administrator.
That's clearly a fault. Whether it's an iTunes problem or a Windows problem I can't say at this time. If you search the Using iTunes for Windows forum for "permissions", you should find threads that can help you sort out this problem.
Then, changes to the format are not obvious, and I get no notice that I am burning music files as data.
If you click on a playlist and look at the lower-right of the iTunes window, it says right there what format it will use to burn the playlist.
