Generate a WebHelp bypassing the RoboHelp UI
Hello,
I work with documentation which is developed and maintained in DITA format. We use DITA Open Toolkit to transform the xml files into a package that contains:
HTML files generated from DITA topics,
an HHK File,
an HHC File,
an HHP File,
two CSS files, one for left-to-right, the other for right-to-left languages.
I am wondering whether it would be possible to create a WebHelp project in RoboHelp 9 and generate output ready to be deployed on a web server without involving the user. All the information needed should be in the xml, and I am looking for a way to automate the whole process. So, would it be possible to use any kind of application (.NET, Windows bat, some kind of script) that would perform all the necessary steps using RoboHelp 9?
Right now, the user in our setup just runs one command to assemble the xml files and transform them into "html help." But the help is still missing all the JavaScripts that make it a WebHelp application, so the user then creates a new WebHelp project in RoboHelp, imports the files and generates the output. Any advice on optimizing the process would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pawel
Hi,
With scripting, you can automatically create and publish RoboHelp projects. It will take some effort to create such a script, but it may save you from having to manually create and publish projects. You can also let RoboHelp run a script from the command line, so you can let the script take care of it in one go. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS98613C7C-EF5B-48e9-A91A-D2AABB882687.html for more information.

How do I add vertical space between items in a WebHelp TOC in RoboHelp 10?
I recently upgraded from RoboHelp 8 to RoboHelp 10. When generating my WebHelp output in RoboHelp 8, I added space between the items in the table of contents by editing the following line in the whthost.js file.
var gsMargin="6pt";
After upgrading, I edited the same line in the whthost.js file for RoboHelp 10. Unfortunately when I generate my WebHelp output in RoboHelp 10, no space is added between the items in the table of contents.
Does anyone have any idea why editing this setting in the whthost.js file no longer produces the desired results? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
GeorgeOne way is to do something like this:
1) create your styles like this:
span {
font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;
letter-spacing: 3px;
2) create your HTML like this:
<p> <span>Xc = 10^6/2* pi *50 * C Xc = 10^4/pi C </span></p>
Now is this what you are looking for? If not please post back so that something else can be suggested like Math HTML such as this one:
<MATH>∫_a_^b^{f(x)<over>1+x} dx</MATH>
FF and latest IE9/10 supports MAtH HTML as far as I know.
This is the picture of display in IE10:
Good luck. -
Not able to view the webhelp output in Robohelp 9
Hello,
I am in a project where we have to create webhelp output from Robohelp 9. Whenever I generate the webhelp ouput I am not able to view the the contents. Although, the webhelp is opening in a browser window but there are no topics present in the contents. The other ouputs like .chm and .dox are fine, but there is some problem with the webhelp which I am unable to figure out.
Regards,
RusoWhat browser are you using?
If Chrome, try something else. Chrome works fine with help on the server but not locally. There is more in Snippets on my site about the Chrome issue.

Why is the Robohelp webhelp search so slow?
Hello,
I currently use Robohelp 9 and produce merged Webhelp using Zoomsearch v6 as the search engine.
My sites has around 2500 topics and 26 merged projects. Zoomsearch produces search results in under half a second.
I decided to use zoomseach (after reading Peter Grainge's useful site) as the default Robohelp search didn't seem great and was taking 5 to nearly 30 seconds to return results. I think even 5 seconds is too long in this day and age!
Is this normal? And is there anything i could do to speed this up?
Does anyone know if Robohelp 10 speeds up the search?
ThanksI have always found the search to be quicker than that. My use of ZoomSearch was for other reasons.
You can have RoboHelp's own search in addition to ZoomSearch so why not just set that up to see if it is still taking that long?
Also try one of the supplied sample projects. Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left.

How to generate & publish webhelp html files in different folder than default folder
Hi All,
I am new to robo help. I have a requirement to generate & publish webhelp html files in a different folder than default folder.
Could anyone please tell me the steps to change the folder
Thanks
RashmiYou change the generate folder and filename in the first field on the first page of the wizard. It must be a folder on your hard disk.
You change the publish folder in the last page of the wizard. Anywhere you like.

Can I script the robohelp compiler?
Hi!
I'd like to know if I can write a command line script to
automate CHM file compilation. I am a developer so I'm not afraid
of writing code. I just want to know if there's any way to connect
to the robohelp (CHM) compiler via a script (Javascript, VBScipt,
etc.) and compile my Robohelp help project automatically. Thanks!
HughesYes. You can.
Because the .chm format is a Microsoft creation, the compiler
is essentially free. Probably the best place to look is msdn. They
should be able to give you the syntax.
Note that this does not work for the RoboHelp-proprietary
formats (WebHelp leaps to mind). I went all round Robin Hood's barn
trying to explain the twin concepts of "proprietary" and "seat
license" to one configuration team that absolutely insisted that
they be able to build WebHelp nightly from the files I stashed in
ClearCase. So stick with .chms if at all possible.

Do you know if it's possible to generate Word 2003 files from
RoboHelp if we're using Office 2007 and RoboHelp 2007? We are
thinking of upgrading, but have customers that would still require
Word 2003 formats because they won't have 2007 installed.
Thanks!Hi NewtoRobohelp
Unfortunately I don't have Office 2007 in front of me to test
with. But I'm thinking that as long as Office 2007 still produces
the same formats as 2003, you could do it this way.
From RoboHelp 7 and using Office 2007, generate Printed
ouptut. Open said printed output in Office 2007 and perform a Save
As. Save the document as a RTF (Rich Text Format) document.
RTF is more universal. So I'm thinking this may be a possible
way around it. There is also the possibility that Word 2007 offers
up an ability when saving a file to save in an older format.

Bypass the quality check/inspection for intercompany POs.
Hi Experts,
Can anybody tell me step by step procedure /configuration change process for bypassing the Quality check/inspection for intercomapany POs.?As we have huge intercompany transaction ,wants to avoid the quality check specialy only for intercomapany POs.
Thanks in advance
ParagHi
1. You have to use the inspection type 03 ( In-process inspection)
2. It is possible for results recording at a specific operation. You have to assign the MIC in the particular operation for which you want to do results recording.
3. Giving usage decision for each operation is not possible in Standard SAP. Because only one inspection lot will be generated for an order, in the same lot you have to do the results recording by selecting the required operation. But usage decision is possible for the whole inspection lot only not for each operation.

Hi,
I get this error randomly when i run my VB 6.0 application which calls Photoshop CS2 actions. I went through many forums, but could not manage to get the right solution for this.
"The application, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Photoshop.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 10/01/2009 @ 11:31:59.964 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 7C81BD02 (ntdll!ExpInterlockedPopEntrySListFault)

OS: WIndows Server 2003 SP2
Photoshop CS2
ANy help on this will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
SmileyI see this sort of error notice in Bridge and Photoshop, preceded by the message " Photoshop (or Bridge) has encountered a problem and must close. Tell MS.
Yes or No."
It most frequently happens in PS when running Dfine 2.0. I have no clue what triggers the Bridge closure. It happens randomly.
CS3, so nobody gives a tinkers dam, I suppose.
I see this kind of message in software testing on a regular basis. Of course, when the test is under way, the software is generating a detailed log file which we package up as part of a bug report. Then at the bug scrubs, lively discussions ensue as to who has to fix what!
I can only image what would happen if the Dfine people and the PS people had to sit through one of those! -
CBO generating different plans for the same data in similar Environments
Hi All
I have been trying to compare an SQL from 2 different but similar environments build of the same hardware specs .The issue I am facing is environment A, the query executes in less than 2 minutes with plan mostly showing full table scans and hash join whereas in environment B(problematic), it times out after 2 hours with an error of unable to extend table space . The statistics are up to date in both environments for both tables and indexes . System parameters are exactly similar(default oracle for except for multiblock_read_count ).
Both Environment have same db parameter for db_file_multiblock_read_count(16), optimizer(refer below),hash_area_size (131072),pga_aggregate_target(1G),db_block_size(8192) etc . SREADTIM, MREADTIM, CPUSPEED, MBRC are all null in aux_stats in both environment because workload was never collected i believe.
Attached is details about the SQL with table stats, SQL and index stats my main concern is CBO generating different plans for the similar data and statistics and same hardware and software specs. Is there any thing else I should consider .I generally see environment B being very slow and always plans tend to nested loops and index scan whereas what we really need is a sensible FTS in many cases. One of the very surprising thing is METER_CONFIG_HEADER below which has just 80 blocks of data is being asked for index scan.

I misread your question initially .The system stats are outdated in both ( same result as seen from aux_stats) .I am not a DBA and do not have access to gather system stats fresh.

Incoming calls bypass the general iphone lock
Although I've set up the general lock on my IPhone 3G, incoming calls bypass the mechanism and make the phone accessible by anyone who picks it up. Is there a way to require a passcode for receiving calls....I want to block all access to my phone!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Message was edited by: chiroguy2pittsburghYou'll find that with the iPhone locked, an incoming call will not allow access to the phone, i.e. you can only answer and talk, not access the phone OS.

How do I unlock an iPhone 4 with iOS 7 and bypass the activation lock?
How do I unlock an iPhone 4 with iOS 7 and bypass the activation lock? I can't find the previous owner and I really want to use my new iPhone, I did purchase it Second-Handed.and now I'm stuck. Ive tried recovery mode and nothing still restores and asks me the same thing. Been working on this forever- Please Help!
If you want to risk your money, fine.
To answer your questions
Is this just an iOS 7 feature?
Yes, Activation Lock is an iOS 7 feature.
Could you not restore the device to an earlier version?
No, you cannot downgrade your iOS device.
That may mean jailbreaking, I'm not sure.
Jailbreaking is not supported by Apple or this forum.
Or what about replacing the motherboard?
There are no user serviceable parts on an iPhone. -
I am trying to switch laptops with my mom, and successfully wiped mine and restored it, but now the password that she used on her computer isn't working on this computer. Is there any logical reason why the two passwords would be different, if I restored her information from a Time Machine backup? Aditionally, Is there a way to bypass the password page on startup to make a password that my mom knows?
If Disk Warrior does not work you can try the following steps (but they may not work if the disk has a hardware error).
Get the disk (DVD or CD) that came with the system (since you have it listed as 10.6.8). If it is 10.7 or 10.8 use the Recovery partition to boot from or the USB installer if you have that option.
Insert the disk then power down
HOLDING the C key, power up to boot from the disc.
Get to Disk Utility
If Disk Utility will now show your hard drive, use DU to REPAIR the disk.
When it completes the Repair process successfully as indicated in DU, do a shut down. If Repair is not successful then an different course of action is indicated below.
Then HOLDING THE APPLE (or Command key depending on your keyboard) KEY AND THE OPTION KEY AND THE LETTER P AND R KEYS, continue hiolding them until you hear the chime tone for the THIRD time then release all four keys.
If REPAIR is not successful, use the Install disc as a boot and REINSTALL THE OS X OPERATING SYSTEM DO NOT ERASE THE DISK OR VOLUME FIRST. REPEAT DO NOT erase the disk or volume before trying to reinstall the OS X operating system. After re-installing the OS do a software update. Note that ERASING the disk is NOT required to do an OS re-install. This allows your existing data and application files to remain.
If that fails then you are down to the "bitter end" of erasing the volume and reinstalling the OS and then all the other software.
If erasing the Volume fails then your last hope is to completely erase the entire hard drive, repartion the disk and try a re-install.
If that fasils then you may have a defective hard disk. -
<p>Hi,</p><p>I have been using the openDocument function as detailed in the topic <a href="/node/1780">Opening a report in a new window on the web</a> to display a crystal report. Unless I happened to have already logged into InfoView I am first taken to the InfoView logon on page before the report can be displayed.</p><p>Can the user name, password and any other parameters required for logon be passed in the link URL so as to log in automatically and bypass the log on page?</p><p>Thanks</p><p> </p>
<p>hello,</p><p>you can log into a report with url syntax that isn't opendocument and then once you're in the report all of your links remain opendocument links.</p><p>for the initial url to bypass the logon, find your Report_Viewers.chm help file and in the Index, look up URL Commands, then choose Crystal Reports. use this url building method to build a hyperlink that logs you on to your main report. then distribute this hyperlink as your login method.</p><p>jw</p>
