Generate PL/SQL packages to do baisc DML for tables

Hi;
I am trying to find a FREE script that will generate text file that when run create PL/SQL packages to perform basic DML on a table. Such as Insert, Update and Delete. I have been searching for one and have found the PVLGen stuff but it seems to be overkill for my basic needs. I do not want to reinvent the wheel if I do not have to. Does any one know of such a tool.

You can use 'Execute Immediate' command within a procedure/package to perform basic DML. Please refer Oracle documentation for further information.

  • PL/SQL forall operator speeds 30x faster for table inserts

    Hi!
    I find this quotes from one internet website. According to this site - "Loading an Oracle table from a PL/SQL array involves expensive context switches, and the PL/SQL FORALL operator speed is amazing. " But, i knew something opposite - that normal SQL insertion always faster than this one. There may be some exception - but not always. Pls go through the link --
    [url http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_news/news_plsql_forall_performance_insert.htm]PL/SQL FORALL operator speed is amazing In Oracle .
    Anyone who have knowledge regarding this - pls share their views or opinion here to clear my doubt. I'll be waiting for the reply. Thanks in advance.
    Regards.
    Satyaki De.

    Hi Satyaki,
    The forall bulk processing is always faster than the row by row processing as shown in this test.
    It is faster because you have much less executions of the insert statement and therefore less context switches.
    I must mention that bulk fetching 100,000 records at a time isn't always a great idea for production code because
    you'll use a large amount of PGA memory.
    I guess you are confused with the "insert into products select * from products" variant. This pure SQL will beat the
    forall variant.
    From slow to fast:
    1. row by row dynamic SQL without using bind variables (execute immediate insert ...)
    2. row by row dynamic SQL with the use of bind variables (execute immediate insert ... using ...)
    3. row by row static SQL (for r in c loop insert ... values ... end loop;)
    4. bulk processing (forall ... insert ...)
    5. single SQL (insert ... select)
    Hope this helps.

    Rob.

  • Creating PL/SQL package in SQL Developer 4.0.0.12

    Hi,
    I have built a model in SQL Developer 4.0.0.12 and I want to create it's PL/SQL package.
    In ODMiner 11.1.0.4 from "Tools" > "Create pl/sql package" I can get a script for creating package and every thing is OK.
    but in SQL Developer I select "Deploy" from every node's context menu and it generates a folder containing some scripts related to every node. I don't see any relevant script for creating any package.
    How can I create relevant PL/SQL package from my workflow?
    Thank you for any help you can provide in this situation.

  • Syntax for calling html page in PL/SQL package

    Hi,
    I'm trying to call html page (stored on server) in my pl/sql package!
    I have already create html page in pl/sql package code and it's works fine.
    Now create better html page (interface design) and stored on server. I would like to call that stored html page in my pl/sql package.
    What is syntax for calling html page in PL/SQL or could you suggest me some literature.
    In first option I had created ces and stored it on server. Then I call it in pl/sql package like htp.p('<link rel="stylesheet" href="\download\table_style.css" type="text/css">');
    I try someting like that for calling html page but it doesn't works.
    htp.p('<link rel="form" href="\download\interface.htm" type="text/html">');
    Does anyone know syntax for calling html page in pl/sql?!?
    Thanks!

    hello
    I normally use htp.anchor(URL,linkname);
    it works

  • Updating pl/sql package after major database changes

    Hi,
    This thread to know if there is any utility which allow to impact changes made on a database, on the pl/sql packages. I have a datawarehouse, which was partially rebuild, a lot of tables have changed name etc... All the data of this DWH is load and treated with pl/sq procedures, and i would like to know if there is any utility, or if you have any advices or workaround to easily impact those changes on the pl sql packages. (Please forgive me for my very bad english.). Thanks by advance

    I haven't explored too much about this SQL Developer Data Modeler tool, but so far from my experience using it, this tool is not better than Oracle Designer in the Oracle Dev Suite 10g.
    Therefore, I don't think this tool is capable doing that "magic" think to automatically remap the packages after DDL (maybe wrong).
    Not sure if the more expensive tools like TOAD Data Modeler or ER Win can do this.
    Perhaps you can write DDL Triggers to automatically capture whenever there is any modification in your tables.

  • DML error table intermittently fails to generate error handling in package

    Hi!
    In OWB 11gR2 (11.2.0.1), we're seeing an issue when setting the DML Error table name on a target table. Sometimes, mostly on older and complex mappings, the error handling logic does not get generated when we deploy the mapping, and nothing is populated in the error tables for error conditions, though the errors display as warnings in the OWB UI.
    When I create a new mapping that is very simple - one table loading another - setting the DML Error table name always results in errors being put in the error table. That's great, but that doesn't help us with our more-complex mappings that aren't logging errors.
    We can't determine the cause of the issue. I can't see a difference in the configuration of the mappings that work and don't work. Generation Mode is All Operating Modes. Default Operating Mode is Set based fail over to row based. We've generated the error table using DBMS_ERRLOG.CREATE_ERROR_LOG. The target tables do not have primary keys.
    I've tried synchronizing the target table operator in the mapping as another forum thread suggested. No change.
    Has anyone else seen this issue or know of a workaround?
    Thanks,
    Jayce

    Which logic did you talk about ?
    For the version 10, you will find the error table more on the insert statement such as:
    INSERT INTO "TSALES"
      ("PROD_ID",
      "SALES"."AMOUNT_SOLD" "AMOUNT_SOLD"
    FROM
      "SALES"  "SALES"
    LOG ERRORS INTO TSALES_ERR (get_audit_detail_id) REJECT LIMIT 50;Come from here:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/2007/08/set_based_errors_dml_error_log.html
    Then check the insert SQL generated.

  • Generating Java wrappers for PL/SQL Packages in JDeveloper 3.1

    I have not been successful in using JD3.1 to generate java classes for use in calling PL/SQL packages from a Java Servlet I am developing. I have followed the directions under the 'Generating Java Code for Oracle Objects and PL/SQL Packages' help topic: I display the package in the database browser window, right click on the package, select 'Generate Java', and click 'OK' on the pop-up JPublisher window that appears. The wizard clocks out for a few moments, then the JPublisher window disappears, but the java class is not added to JDeveloper's Navigation pane for the Project and Package I specified in the wizard.
    Any idea where the generated class is going to?

    should be, but isn't... JDeveloper3.1
    (build 681) default install... Is it in
    a custom package I didn't install? Or
    am I just a dumb nut?Hmm.. I thought it was in there.. JPub is a java based tool. You can invoke it as such.
    1st, use setvars.bat from your jdeveloper/bin directory.
    2nd, run java oracle.jpub.java.Main (pass it the same arguments as you would the jpub.exe)
    Here's the output from my machine here:

  • Problem in generate Java  from PL SQL package in Jdeveloper

    Hi
    i have problem in create java class from PL SQL package in JDeveloper.
    I use Database navigator of jdeveloper and right click on a package and choose Generate Java then in Jpublisher window choose my view Controller and accept other default values.
    I call methods of generated class in the Action of a button in my JSP page, but when I click the button it  throw null pointer exception !!! i fund one of generated method return null and it lead to this exception.
    protected DefaultContext __tx = null;
    public DefaultContext getConnectionContext() throws SQLException  {
    if (__tx==null){
    __tx = (getConnection()==null) ? DefaultContext.getDefaultContext() : new DefaultContext(getConnection());
        return __tx;
      public Connection getConnection() throws SQLException
        if (__onn!=null) return __onn;
         else if (__tx!=null) return __tx.getConnection();
         else if (__dataSource!=null) __onn= __dataSource.getConnection();
         return __onn;
    i try to generate class in Model project and create DataControl for that and use method action but noting change and i get null pointer again!!
    Jdeveloper Versino = 11.1.1.7.0

    Let me ask you another question: Why do you generate java from the package at all?
    Where do you want to call the package?
    Back to your question: you should see code like
        public void setDataSourceLocation(String dataSourceLocation) throws SQLException {
            javax.sql.DataSource dataSource;
            try {
                Class cls = Class.forName("javax.naming.InitialContext");
                Object ctx = cls.newInstance();
                java.lang.reflect.Method meth = cls.getMethod("lookup", new Class[] { String.class });
                dataSource = (javax.sql.DataSource) meth.invoke(ctx, new Object[] { "java:comp/env/" + dataSourceLocation });
                setDataSource(dataSource);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                throw new java.sql.SQLException("Error initializing DataSource at " + dataSourceLocation + ": " + e.getMessage());
    in the generated code. This code look up a datasource (which you have defined e.g. on the Weblogic Server) by calling the method
    setDataSourceLocaltion("jdbc/HRConnDS");
    This look up the datasource nad stores it in the class variable.

  • Issue generating java from pl/sql package

    Hi,
    In JDeveloper (11.1.1.6) I am having an issue generating java from a pl/sql package. When I am in the database navigator I right click on the package and select "generate java". This produces some java files, some sqlj files and a <package_name>.javatmp file. When a collegue does the same all files are generated with a .java extension. Can anyone tell me what I can do to generate all java files?
    Thanks,
    Graeme

    It turns out that I was running against a 64-bit JDK. (1.6.0_41.)
    When I changed this to run against a 32 bit JDK (also 1.6.0_41) my problem went away.
    It might be worth noting that my machine is 64 bit.

    Eric,
    Thanks a lot for your help.
    I was able to follow all of your recommendations
    I was able to produce the single ear file for multiple PL/SQL packages .
    Now I have the last step ( I hope :-) - WS-SECURITY
    What is your recomendation for Security - specifically for WebServices for PL/SQL Packages ?
    I would like to do the following:
    CLIENT CODE:
    * Create a XML element with user name, password, &
    * datasource as child elements.
    * Element will look like this:
    * <credetials>
    * <username>scott</username>

    * <datasource>jdbc/OracleCoreDS</datasource>
    * </credentials>

    elC.appendChild(doc.createTextNode("jdbc/OracleCoreDS"));;
    elAdd.appendChild(elA);
    elAdd.appendChild(elB);
    elAdd.appendChild(elC);
    doc.appendChild(elAdd);
    Element e = doc.getDocumentElement();
    // Create an intance of the proxy
    EmployeeProxy proxy = new EmployeeProxy();
    // Create a Header objecy

    Element e = (Element) entries.firstElement();
    System.out.println("Element received from SOAP header is: " );
    ((XMLElement)e).print(System.out);
    // Get independent nodes and retrieve node values.

    System.out.println("User name is: " + userName);
    System.out.println("Password is: " + password);

    How can this be done with the generated code using wsa tool ?

  • Forms based on PL/SQL Package

    Hi all
    I investigate Forms Blocks with DML Data Target Type = "Procedure". We want move business logic that is currently located in various row-level-triggers on the DB into PL/SQL-packages.
    I wonder if DML Returning Value really does not work when I insert the data through a Procedure. I found no statement about it in the documentation (clearly, it works only with DB 8i and newer, but we are on 11g now). The Signature of the PL/SQL Procedure for Insert
    procedure do_insert (p_tab_test in out tab_test) is...
    with it's in out parameter suggests somewhat Returning DML to work. I wonder if it should be possible to expand the Oracle-generated insert procedure like
    DECLARE
    bk_data PA_TEST.TAB_TEST;
    BEGIN
    PLSQL_TABLE.POPULATE_TABLE(bk_data, 'BLOCK2', PLSQL_TABLE.INSERT_RECORDS);
    PA_TEST.DO_INSERT(bk_data);
    PLSQL_TABLE.POPULATE_BLOCK(bk_data, 'BLOCK2') ;     -- <-----------------------suggested new line
    END;

    I will try to clarify:
    My expectations:
    I make inserts into a DB-table using a PL/SQL Procedure. In the examples (e.g [http://www.dulcian.com/papers/ODTUG/2000/What-Do-You-Base-Your-Block-On.htm] ) ,with DML Data Target Type = Procedure, the table of records used to pass on the data to the package is declared as in-out parameter. So, if I
    - change the data in the table of records in the package during insert-processing (1)
    - and set the block property DML Returning Value to Yes (2)
    I expect forms to update the data in the block/items after the insert processing to reflect the changes made in step 1 (3)
    Every thing works well except (3).
    The Background:
    We've got an application with DML Data Target Type = Table with almost all blocks. There are a couple of DB-Triggers on these tables implementing business-logic, which we would like to transfer into packages (so change DML Data Target Type to Procedure). But the application uses Returning DML here and there, which seems not to work togethter with DML Data Target Type = Procedure. Before dropping this idea, I would like to be sure that this is not intended to work.
    It seems to me that if the insert-procedure generated by forms builder contained an additional line
    PLSQL_TABLE.POPULATE_BLOCK(bk_data, 'BLOCK2');+
    at the end, this should work.
    Thank you for your effort

  • Creating PL/SQL packages

    Hello,
    The problem I am confronted with is reusing generated models.
    In the process of DataMinig several steps are used: prepare data, Attribute selection (using AI), and building, testing and applying models.
    If PL/SQL packages are used two problems occur:
    First: Long, hand driven process of building:
    Model generation in ODM,
    PL/SQL package building in ODM and Export to SQL file,
    importing package to DB, compiling and running.
    I am sorry, but I don't understand why is it necessary to export PL/SQL packages in a file? As if these products aren't both Oracle products?
    Second: If data (in time) changes and AI selects new attributes, then all next steps fail, since column names, and even some values, are hard coded! Therefore it is necessary to go trough the build and export process all over again. This really hurts.
    Do you have a suggestion how to get around this problem?
    I already considered using a SPSS Clementine, but since it is not an Oracle product I still believe, the original Oracle solution should give me some advantages.
    Oh and another issue.
    I tried using PL/SQL generator (Ver.: 10.1.3.0.17) in JDeveloper (ver.: 10.1.3.0.4), but it gave me an error:

    Hi,
    The code generation available in ODMr would allow you to deploy the build, apply or test process as generated code.
    I am not sure what your application goal is, but if you simply want to deploy a model be used in an apply process that is rather straight forward.
    You would build the model using ODMr. Then create an Apply Activity, again using ODMr.
    The Apply Activity can then be used to generate code (pl/sql) using the JDev RTM release (10.1.3.2 or above). We will also have a version that will work with SQLDev shortly.
    The generated code is immediately placed into the db for you.
    If you want to score in a separate db you can either create a db link from that db or move both the model and the apply pl/sql code to the new db (using dba utilities).
    If you want to rebuild a model, where you would add/remove attributes, change transformations etc. then you will have to regenerate the code.
    If you simply want to rebuild the model without changing any transformations and settings you could also deploy the model build generated code.
    As for the JDev failure, we are going to look into that. Have you tried the JDev 10.1.3.3 release available on the Oracle web site?
    Thanks, Mark

  • How to get changes of a custom PL/SQL package updated in ISG?

    Hi All,
    I need some help on how to change a custom PL/SQL package in ISG integration repository:
    I already uploaded my custom PL/SQL package to the integration repositoy some time ago. Now I have made some changes to PL/SQL record/table types defined in the package (added some fields and removed some others). These changed record/table types are used by a procedure I already uploaded to the integration repository. When regenerating the WSDL for my PL/SQL package in integration repository I get an error that the wrapper for respective procedure can't be found. When checking up the SQL types that were automatically generated (by JPublisher) for corresponding PL/SQL types, these generated SQL types are invalid...
    So it seems that in one case JPublisher generated an empty SQL type (with no attributes). In another case JPublisher generated the SQL type with old attribute list, so it didn't adopt the changes of corresponding PL/SQL type in the package...
    Can anybody tell me how to get the changes of a cusotm PL/SQL package updated in ISG? Or is there any possibility to first remove a whole PL/SQL package from the ISG integration repository (and getting rid of all old automatically generated SQL types), so that I can newly upload my PL/SQL package afterwards?
    Thanks
    Konrad
    Edited by: Konrad on 24.10.2011 10:51

    Thanks Daniel, for your reply...
    (-> for info: I'm a colleague of Konrad...)
    Yes, we used a higher version number - and the upload of iLDT file works fine...
    But, the problem occured when generating the WSDL...
    However, I think we have found an approach of how to get the changes of a custom PL/SQL package updated correctly in ISG:
    1. Save a copy of PL/SQL package and then delete it in the database
    2. Regenerate the WSDL for PL/SQL package in ISG (seems that all atutomatically generated JPub wrappers and SQL types are also deleted)
    3. Restart all processes
    4. Create the changed version of PL/SQL package in the database again
    5. upload of iLDT
    6. Regenerate the WSDL for PL/SQL package in ISG
