Updating pl/sql package after major database changes

Hi,
This thread to know if there is any utility which allow to impact changes made on a database, on the pl/sql packages. I have a datawarehouse, which was partially rebuild, a lot of tables have changed name etc... All the data of this DWH is load and treated with pl/sq procedures, and i would like to know if there is any utility, or if you have any advices or workaround to easily impact those changes on the pl sql packages. (Please forgive me for my very bad english.). Thanks by advance

I haven't explored too much about this SQL Developer Data Modeler tool, but so far from my experience using it, this tool is not better than Oracle Designer in the Oracle Dev Suite 10g.
Therefore, I don't think this tool is capable doing that "magic" think to automatically remap the packages after DDL (maybe wrong).
Not sure if the more expensive tools like TOAD Data Modeler or ER Win can do this.
Perhaps you can write DDL Triggers to automatically capture whenever there is any modification in your tables.

  • Calling pl/sql package on different database in process flow

    Hi there
    Have a process flow which calls procedure on different database. This procedure truncates a table on the remote database.
    Please could somebody confirm we would need to set up dblinks from the owf_mgr schema to the remote database.
    New to wokflow - am i Correct in assuming the process flows run on the owf_mgr
    rather than the control center owbrt.
    Many Thanks

    Hi there,
    Thanks for the reply.
    If my understanding is correct I could have a procedure as follows.
    hkeeping.trunc_table@dblinkname('TABLE_NAME');
    Is this the case?
    Another alternative was to call directly the transformation in the process flow
    e.g. we have pl/sql package on remote database whioch truncates the remote table.
    When we try this with same procedure on same databas as owb user exists on then works fine.
    However on remote database get message below. Does this mean anything to you? How could we sort this?

  • EclipseLink-Redeploying a DBWS WS on PL/SQL package after changing return

    Issue concerning: EclipseLink 2.4.1 (DBWS) on WebLogic
    Hi,
    I've created a DBWS webservice based on a Oracle (10g) PL/SQL package, by using EclipseLink DBWS builder. The PL/SQL function exposed as a webservice call has a Object type return type, e.g.:
    create or replace type eclipse_type as
    object
    num number
    create or replace package test_eclipselink_pkg as
    function test return eclipse_type;
    end;
    As I understand it, EclipseLink-DBWS translates this Oracle object type to an Java type when calling the PL/SQL function over JDBC and translates the Java object to XML to be encapsulated in a SOAP message.
    The problem is that when changing the specification of the return type (e.g. changing the name of the field num to nmb in the Oracle type eclipse_type) of the Oracle PL/SQL function, regenerating the webservice (WAR-file) with DBWS builder and redeploying it on WebLogic 10.3.6, calling the webservice results in a java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException.
    Restarting the WebLogic server (or the appropriate managed server) resolves the problem, what shouldn't be a problem in a development environment, but is not always possible in a production environment.
    The problem seems to be that redeploying the webservice doesn't result in the XR Operations/Queries being recreated and as a result the old result type definition is used.
    Has anybody a solution for this problem?
    Kind regards,
    Jan

    Hi,
    I checked the logging while redeploying the WAR file. This part of the output seems to indicate, as you suggested, that the EcliipseLink session is not correctly logged of (InstanceAlreadyExistsException):

    What I cannot see, is: who is responsible for this logout? This must be clear so I know I have to log a bug for WebLogic or for EclipseLink.
    Anyone a suggestion how to determine this?

  • How can I get a detail block to requery after a database change?

    Hi, I have a master/detail form. When the status of the master record changes, I need to update a date in one of the detail records. If I use SQL to update the detail row in the database in the ON-CHANGE trigger of the master block, how can I get the detail block to requery to show the change? When I try doing a go_block from any of the ...UPDATE triggers, it says it is restricted.

    wjpenfold,
    Do you have a "Relationship" defined between your Master and Detail blocks? If so, you simply need to requery your master block and the detail block will automatically be requeried. If you can't use a relationship, then you can use can create a timer in the trigger that updates the database and then in the When-Timer-Expired (WTE) trigger you can go to the detail block and execute a query. For example:
    /* Sample On-Change trigger */
    DECLARE
       timer_id  TIMER;
    BEGIN
    ....your code here that performs the update....
       /* Now create an instance of a timer */
       timer_id := Create_Timer ('upd_detail',1,NO_REPEAT);
    END;
    /* Sample Form Level When-Timer-Expired trigger */
    DECLARE
       timer_id   TIMER;
    BEGIN
       -- Find the timer first
       timer_id := FIND_TIMER('upd_detail');
       IF NOT ID_NULL(timer_id) THEN
          GO_BLOCK('DETAIL_BLOCK');
          Execute_Query;
       END IF;
    END;Hope this helps,

  • Getting error when trying to deploy the SQL project after making some changes

    I’m getting the below error message, when I’m trying to deploy the project by making some changes.
    In detail, The project was deployed successfully at first time. Later I did some changes(Added 1 more table) and I tried to deploy, but it was not sucess. I'm getting the below error message
    Error message:Cannot upgrade the DAC for database CTR_FIN_FINNOTE_DB because the compatibility level is 70 or lower. Alter the database to support a compatibility level of 80 or higher
    I checked in SQL, the compatibility level is 110 which is higher than 70.
    Can any one help me out to overcome with this.

  • Values seen in logic debugger but not updating in SQL server after running

    Hi,
    I am trying to run a simple logic file, where I am reversing the sign of a few EXP accounts. I have written a similar code
    *when account
    *is account1
    *when %value%
    *is <>0
    *rec(factor=-1)
    *endwhen
    *endwhen
    Now when I run the logic debugger I am able to see the rows that will be updated. However when I run the logic file through package and look in the database the records do not get generated. What could be the reason?
    Also when I calculate an exp account through logic, the database stores +ve values in the database. Is there any other way to ensure that EXP accounts calculated thro logic are always store according to how they would be stored when sent through a schedule?
    Thanks,
    Hardik.

    Hi,
    As suggested by Jonathan in the previous post, you need a *COMMIT statement to post the calculated records into the fact tables.
    Your observation is correct regarding the accounts. The accounts with ACCTYPE as INC are stored as negative values and those of EXP are stored as positive values. This is how the BPC is setup to create records by default. It is easy to rollup the accounts to the higher level accounts, just by summing the values.
    So EXP type accounts are stored as positive values, be it sent from input schedule or posted by a DM package.
    Hope you understand.

  • Why does Lightroom not update all my previews after a batch change?

    Hi!
    I imported more 2,000 pictures. Then I did one batch change (adjusting the curve (tonality) by Lightroom).
    But it looks like, only on the page, I actually see, the previews are updated.
    If go to the next page of 24 pictures. At first I see the old preview. Then the CPU and hard drive activity is increasing and picture by picture the preview is updated. So I've to wait 15 seconds, until I can decide, if the settings of the pictures are a good start or not. And then I've to page again and wait 15 seconds
    I expect, that Lightroom does it:
    in background
    in parallel and not only one picture by picture (15 seconds are cause by sequencially processing; I've an Intel i7 with 4 cores and 3.6 GHz, it's not the slowest machine, but Lightroom only use up to 25% of my whole CPU resources :-( )
    Sorry, but I do not understand, how I should be able to handle a mass of pictures, if I have to page and wait always.
    Is there any magic shurtcut, command, setting, to enforce such an auto update?
    Thanks a lot!

    Dunno whether this would offer sufficient improvement or not:
    It doesn't automate preview generation, but does give a button (2 actually) for quick-building of previews.
    OttoMate
    PS - Adobe did provide a function in Lr5.2 SDK for building previews, unfortunately the fine print taketh away too much of what the big print giveth (e.g. doesn't work in develop module), so not viable for auto-preview generation, yet.

  • Fail to parse SQL query after report attributes changes on sample app

    This errors occurs in the sample application istalled in Workspace PMW on the http://htmldb.oracle.com web site. Goto home page, edit Page 1, Select "Top Orders" in Region, select report attributes, change max count from 5 to 5 in "Layout and Pagination", apply changes, run page and parse SQL error occurs. Select "debug" and the following is shown regarding the query.
    0.10: query could not be parsed:
    SELECT a.ORDER_ID, a.ORDER_TIMESTAMP, a.CUSTOMER_ID,
    b.cust_last_name || ', ' || b.cust_first_name cust_name, NVL(a.ORDER_TOTAL, 0)
    FROM demo_orders a, DEMO_CUSTOMERS b
    WHERE a.customer_id = b.customer_id
    ORDER BY NVL(a.ORDER_TOTAL, 0) DESC order by 5 desc,5 desc
    failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
    I can't see that I'm doing anything wrong but maybe someone can shed some light on this!
    Thanks

    this is sort of an oversight on our part. what's going on is that the sample app installs with that order by clause in the query. at the same time, the report attributes page for that region has a default sort sequence value of "1 desc" (even though column heading sorting isn't enabled). when you go to that page and try to apply any change, htmldb tries to set things up correctly for you...and you end up with that double order by. the best way to avoid the issue is to remove the order by clause from the query on the Region Definition page.
    hope this helps,

  • Auto update of PO price after del. date change

    We use price date category=2 , "Delivery date" for our materials.  In ME22N, the delivery date is changed.  Message 06 484 appears at the bottom of the screen,
    "Delivery date changed (new price determination process may be necessary)".
    We want to have the new price determination automatically carried out when the delivery date changes in the PO. If you change other fields like purchasing org. or plant, the price is automatically redetermined.

    It depends on the costing method of the org and the distribution details of the PO.
    Typically, for avg. costing, it is not possible because that will alter the way the transaction was costed.
    But for a std. costing org, it may be possible.
    You will have to setup the test cases for your org and see.

  • How to get changes of a custom PL/SQL package updated in ISG?

    Hi All,
    I need some help on how to change a custom PL/SQL package in ISG integration repository:
    I already uploaded my custom PL/SQL package to the integration repositoy some time ago. Now I have made some changes to PL/SQL record/table types defined in the package (added some fields and removed some others). These changed record/table types are used by a procedure I already uploaded to the integration repository. When regenerating the WSDL for my PL/SQL package in integration repository I get an error that the wrapper for respective procedure can't be found. When checking up the SQL types that were automatically generated (by JPublisher) for corresponding PL/SQL types, these generated SQL types are invalid...
    So it seems that in one case JPublisher generated an empty SQL type (with no attributes). In another case JPublisher generated the SQL type with old attribute list, so it didn't adopt the changes of corresponding PL/SQL type in the package...
    Can anybody tell me how to get the changes of a cusotm PL/SQL package updated in ISG? Or is there any possibility to first remove a whole PL/SQL package from the ISG integration repository (and getting rid of all old automatically generated SQL types), so that I can newly upload my PL/SQL package afterwards?
    Thanks
    Konrad

    Thanks Daniel, for your reply...
    (-> for info: I'm a colleague of Konrad...)
    Yes, we used a higher version number - and the upload of iLDT file works fine...
    But, the problem occured when generating the WSDL...
    However, I think we have found an approach of how to get the changes of a custom PL/SQL package updated correctly in ISG:
    1. Save a copy of PL/SQL package and then delete it in the database
    2. Regenerate the WSDL for PL/SQL package in ISG (seems that all atutomatically generated JPub wrappers and SQL types are also deleted)
    3. Restart all processes
    4. Create the changed version of PL/SQL package in the database again
    5. upload of iLDT
    6. Regenerate the WSDL for PL/SQL package in ISG

  • Issue in Calling PL/SQL packages using callable statement

    Hi ,
    I have the requirement of calling two pl/sql packages , After call of first package is successful , i need to pass the output of that first package as input to second package.
    Since i have called both the packages in same method of AM, first package gets executed successfully but second package doesnt get the input values required from first package and results in error.

  • Using Database Change Notification instead of After Insert Trigger

    Hello guys! I have an after insert trigger that calls a procedure, which in turn is doing an update or insert on another table. Due to mutating table errors I declared the trigger and procedure as autonomously transactional. The problem is, that old values of my main tables are inserted into the subtable since the after insert/update trigger is fired before the commit.
    My question is how can I solve that and how could I use the change notification package to call my procedure? I now that this notification is only started after a DML/DDL action has been commited on a table.
    If you could show me how to carry out the following code with a Database Change Notification I'd be delighted. Furthermore I need to know if it suffices to set up this notification only once or for each client seperately?
    Many thanks for your help and expertise!

  • Error  While Polling Database changes using Custom SQL

    I am using Oralce SOA Suite 11g DbAdapter for polling Database changes.

    I am getting following Error after defining the custom SQL in my mapping.xml file. (After executing the Created Process)
    Caused by: BINDING.JCA-11622
    Could not create/access the TopLink Session.
    This session is used to connect to the datastore.
    Caused by BINDING.JCA-11626
    Query Not Found Exception.
    Could not find Named Query [ReceiveSampleCustomPollSelect] with ? arguments, belonging to Descriptor [ReceiveSampleCustomPoll.F554102T] for [oracle.tip.adapter.db.DBActivationSpec@2ec733b0] inside of mappings xml file: [ReceiveSampleCustomPoll-or-mappings.xml].
    You may have changed the queryName info in either the _db.jca or toplink-mappings.xml files so that they no longer match.
    Make sure that the queryName in the activation/interactionSpec and in the Mappings.xml file match. If an old version of the descriptor has been loaded by the database adapter, you may need to bounce the app server. If the same descriptor is described in two separate Mappings.xml files, make sure both versions include this named query.
    You may need to configure the connection settings in the deployment descriptor (i.e. DbAdapter.rar#META-INF/weblogic-ra.xml) and restart the server. This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake. This polling process will shut down, unless the fault is related to processing a particular row, in which case polling will continue but the row will be rejected (faulted).

    Help required to fit custom SQL in mapping.xml file for complex queries.
    Thanks,
    Arun Jadhav.

    "Execuite Custom SQL" in DB adapter and you'l get it.
    But in this case you'll have to implement your own polling strategy (if you need one).
    If you want to use one of the predefined polling strategy you should use "Poll for New or Changed records" and import all the tables you use and connect them in wizard.

  • Update sql statement after clone

    Hi:
    I am sorry to bother you but this is the only place I know I can get an answer. I was asked to update a profile (EBS 12.1.3, 11.1.7 db, Linux) after clone from the following select statement below: (this is to update the outbound directory from prod to no-prod after clone).
    select b.OUTBOUND_PMT_FILE_DIRECTORY
    from IBY_SYS_PMT_PROFILES_TL tl
    ,IBY_SYS_PMT_PROFILES_B b
    where system_profile_name in ('UXS US Bank','UXS Wire US Bank')
    and b.system_profile_code = tl.system_profile_code;
    I tried but got error: "ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row". This statment retures two rows. I don't know how to fix it.
    Thank you in advance for helping me.
