Generating a content location request

Hi,
I'd like to generate a content location request from within a task sequence using my .net code. Assuming these are the correct classes; can anyone give me an exampe of using the
ContentLocationRequest etc from the messaging SDK. Thanks.
Simon Burbidge

Why do you want to re-invent something that's already built into the product? What's the reason behind it? Answering that question would help to understand what you are trying to achieve ...

  • Content Location request for PACKAGE failed (Code 0x80040102) - How to determine list of DP's returned from the MP

    Hi there
    So, existing SCCM 2012 environment, OSD functioning at other sites, been in use for a while.
    New location, new DP.  PXE boot system, choose the task sequence, and I get the error that the package is not found.
    Look at the SMSTS.log and sure enough I see the 0x80040102 error.
    I have :
    Removed the offending package and redistributed it.  Verified it is present on the server.
    Verified the boundary has the server as a site system.
    Verified the boundaries have the correct IP range, and the correct Site.
    I have tried it with just a Site boundary and just a IP Range boundary.
    Created a copy of my TS, removed the offending package, deployed.  Same error, just with a different package ID (which tells me that it isn't the package, it is something on the server DP itself).
    Rebooted both the Site server and the DP.
    I'm kind of at a loss, as I would expect to see the DP show up in the below log as a DP, but I don't see it.  It looks like it gets policy, and it shows under the content location request Local: 1 (which I believe says it sees 1 local content location),
    but further below in the log it says Processing 0 Locations.
    Very confused.
    Thanks for any help...

    It was not just driver packages, it was whatever package was next in line in the Task Sequence.
    The issue got even more strange...I added a DP from my central location to the boundary group of the site that was failing.
    Now it pulls from the local DP.
    If I remove the DP from my central location (that is not local to the failing site), then it stops working again.

    Hi All
    I have a lab setup with a single SCCM server configured. I am facing problem in executing a Task Sequence (this is my first TS) as and when i run it it throws below error:
    A0100002 is the boot wim.
    <http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/438124>
    The SMSTS log shows below error:
    <http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/438126>
    Also log has an entry as [Found 0 DPs in subnet, 1 DPs in local site, 0 DPs in remote location and 0 Multicast DPs] , the boundary has been set to AD site.
    I have already tried to make another DP and distribute the wim, but it still endup with same error. But i am able to run normal s/w advertisements.
    Please let me know what could be the issue.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Have you configured a Network access account? Ohterwise it will fail to connect to the DP, Make sure that the password is correct as well.

  • Internet or Intranet Clients - Content Location

    Our current Configuration Manager 2012 R2 environment is running with existing servers and clients in intranet mode. We are wanting to add a server in our DMZ to support internet only mode for our DMZ servers.  Additionally, we are contemplating leveraging
    this new server to support laptops in an "Internet or Intranet" configuration as described here:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/bb693755.aspx
    My question is regarding content location for these "Internet or Intranet" clients.  If the client is offsite (so the intranet servers are viewed as offline) and the content is available on the server setup to support internet clients, obviously
    the client will download the content from the internet server.   However, should we be distributing all of the content that is available to the intranet servers to the internet server?  If an "internet or intranet" client receives policy
    for a package who's source is only available from an intranet server does the deployment completely fail when the client is offsite....or does the client wait until the content is available from an intranet server?
    Also, if you have a link to documentation of this, that would be great.
    Thanks!

    There's no documentation describing this exact scenario. The client sends a content location request to its MP but if the necessary content is not on the Internet facing DP when the client is connected via the Internet, then the content location
    request will fail. The client will periodically retry the content location request including when the client sees that it has changed network locations and so this will eventually succeed once the client is on the Intranet again. So, effectively, yes
    the client will wait till its on the Intranet -- it doesn't really have a choice though.
    What implications are you worried about here?

  • Anticipating content lookup requests

    We're in the process of trying to roll out OSD to production. Too many content location requests can peg the MP.
    We're aware of CPU spikes related to large numbers of content lookup requests associated primarily with software update deployments. Of primary concern is when we make updates available to 20,000 computers.
    What we see is that even when we deploy the content to the collection off hours (say 1am) , the desktops will download content off-hours. Then, beginning around 8am we see a steady progression in the number of clients checking in. What we are trying to work
    towards is being able to predict how many content lookups we anticipate at any given points.
    We know that at any minute where we attempt to process more than 3,000 content lookups in the same minute, the SQL processor gets pegged, and the MP log states a timeout - which could potentially impact OSD.
    Has anyone else attempted to track when clients enter the environment, how many content location requests are placed per minute/hour etc?  <cough cough> GARTH JONES? </cough cough> We can attempt to archive the SQL table with the policy
    timestamp, and check for differences, but this is not necessarily a reflection of whether you needed content or not. I am not aware of any way to track content location requests short of trying to logscrape mp_Location.log..
    If this was possible, the next step would be to try and say 'collections X has 12,000 machines, Y has 3000 machines, and Z has 200 machines, so we expect 15,200 machines to request content on Monday morning. Based on historical averages, we expect x . minute,
    with the threshold of 3,000/minute being exceeded between 8:54am and 9:09am. '
    Thoughts?
    Will

    None if there are no active deployments for all clients ;-)
    You cannot really predict that as there are too many variable parameters. Plus it's not only content location requests that put load on the MP / SQL.
    Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
    Funny guy.
    We are being asked to be able to predict when anticipated load will exceed the SQL ability to process all requests without any SQL timeouts, so we will patch something together - was just hoping someone else had already started trying to do something similar.

  • JnlpErrorResponse[11 Could not locate requested version]

    Hi all,
    Im trying to get jardiff working the version based protol is working fine, using the version.xml files.
    However when I increment the version number ie 1.4->1.5 in the .jnlp file and the version.xml file in my webapp, and run webstart on a client , I get the exception below.
    And the JNLP Download servlet just returns the whole client jar file, not the diff. I am just deleting the old jar file and putting the new file in the webapp, is this wrong, ie shoudl I store the files in /app/1.1/ app/1.2/ so a jar diff can be executed, or do you have to use the __V versioning syntax for jar diff to work???
    Also, is there anywhere to look up info on error messages comming out of the jnlp download servlets, ie error 11??
    Thanks for you time

    to use the jardiff protocol, (with the jnlpDownloadServlet) you must provide version based resources named in accordance with:
    http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/1.2/docs/downloadservletguide.html#resources.
    ie:
    provide version 1.4 of myProClient.jar as:
    myProClient__V1.4.jar, and version 1.5 as:
    myProClient__V1.5.jar. Then when upgrading from
    1.4 to 1.5 servlet can generate the jardiff, and send only the changes to the client.
    (note client must have allready downloaded jar using version based protocol: myProClient__V1.4.jar as opposed to vasic protocol: myProClient.jar)

  • Best Place for Source Content Location?

    Hey Guys,
    Currently we are planning for 2 sites with our Configuration Manager designing but we are unsure what would be the best scenario for the Source Content Location.
    Should we just use DFS? or keep it local per site?

    It can go anywhere, but you should put it close to your ConfigMgr Primary Site Server.  The primary will copy the content from the source to the content library (and then to the distribution points).
    Regardless of which file share location you chose, I recommend accessing it from a DNS Alias so that it can be moved later on without having to update all packages/apps/driver packages etc.
    I hope that helps,

  • Content location mass update at the site level

    Hi,
    I am looking for a way to mass update the content location at the site level. Right now, we can do the mass update at the folder level. We have about 80 folders or so. Is there a way we can mass update the starting url at the site level?
    Environment: Oracle iLearning 5.2.1
    Thanks
    Sud

    If you are mass updating the content location, you need to inspect the following three tables in the ILEARN schema.
    Table Columns Description
    content_server host, physical_directory Content Server Definition
    rco starting_url Self Explanatory
    host_adapter adapter_path CMI Adapter
    You might not have to change all of them, if you are only changing the path and not the host.

  • Need to understand Site Assignment and Content Location Boundary Groups

    Okay I am very confused about something that I am seeing that is throwing my understanding of how Boundary Groups work completely off.
    Here is my dilemma:
    I created two boundary groups, a site assignment and a content location boundary group. The site assignment boundary group contains all of my sites. The content location boundary group I have just has my datacenter systems where the DP installed on my site
    server is being referenced in that boundary group.
    Now, I had two pilot deployments. The very first pilot deployment I had I created a content location boundary group for that site and referenced the local DP and when I deployed software updates to the clients there, I kept getting timeout errors. The second
    pilot deployment i had, I totally forgot to create a content location boundary group, but the software updates installed perfectly fine on those clients.
    What the heck is going on here?
    I thought if a content locatoin boundary group was NOT created for a remote site, then those clients would not be able to receive any content at all, period.
    Can someone please, please explain to me what is going on here?
    Thanks everyone

    Site assignment has nothing to do clients finding content so while it's good that you have a site assignment boundary group and even that you mentioned it, it has nothing to do with what's going on here. Also as a semantic side note, when referring
    to remote locations, you shouldn't use the word "site" when discussing ConfigMgr because "site" means something very specific and could cause confusion. I typically try to use the word "location".
    Clients that do not fall into a boundary within a content location boundary group automatically fall into a "default" boundary marked as slow in a default "boundary group". Neither of these is defined anywhere in the console or the product
    so default isn't exactly the right word here, but it does convey the meaning. Thus, not being in a defined boundary does not mean that clients cannot get content, just that they will only get content allowed for slow boundaries or where fallback is enabled.

  • How to change the content in request at approval stage

    Dear experts,
    We have a requirement like following:
    Frist, User submits a new account request, the field "Position" is set to cerntain value, eg. sales support
    Then, Manager should have the capbility to change the content in field "Position", such as changeing sales support to sales manager, when he approves the request.
    However, it seems that only very few fields can be changed after request submition.
    How could we configure AC to let the managers can change the content in request at approval stage?
    Thanks a lot!

    Tang,
    In the stage for the Manager set the "Change Request" to 'Yes'.  This will open up a few fields for you, including user group, role validity dates, etc.  I do not believe this will open up position though.

  • How to generate CSR (certificate signing request) in PKCS#10 format

    Hi,
    First, I am a novice in security issues.
    Problem:
    I know how to generate CSR using PKCS#10 format with keytool. However I need to implement this functionality in my application. Unfortunately I can't find any docs describing this issue.
    Do anybody know about some API where I just pass data and it will generate CSR for me?
    Many Thanks,
    Miso

    Hi again,
    After a long research I am finally able to generate PKCS#10 cert. request files:
    public static void generatePKCS10() throws Exception {
            // generate PKCS10 certificate request
            KeyPairGenerator keyGen = KeyPairGenerator.getInstance("RSA");
            String sigAlg = "MD5WithRSA";
            // generate private key - use java.util.SecureRandom for entropy
            keyGen.initialize(1024, new SecureRandom());
            KeyPair keypair = keyGen.generateKeyPair();
            PublicKey publicKey = keypair.getPublic();
            PrivateKey privateKey = keypair.getPrivate();
            PKCS10 pkcs10 = new PKCS10(publicKey);
            Signature signature = Signature.getInstance(sigAlg);
            signature.initSign(privateKey);
                 //common, orgUnit, org, locality, state, country
            X500Name x500Name = new X500Name(
                      "CName",               // CN
                      "OUnit",               // OU
                      "Organization",          // O
                      "Bratislava",          // L
                      "Slovakia",               // S
                      "SK");               // C
            pkcs10.encodeAndSign(new X500Signer(signature, x500Name));
            // PKCS10 request generated
            pkcs10.print(System.out);
    Problem 1:
    However, this generates only a request with X500 subject's name ("CN, OU, O, ..."). But I also want to specify other things like "Key Usage" (example: "Digital Signature, Key Encipherment, etc.") or "Generic IA5 String" (example: "Only for test purposes."). How to do that?
    Problem 2:
    I'm also having trouble to find javadoc for "sun.security" package. As you can see, I'm using "sun.security.pkcs.PKCS10" class for generating CSR in PKCS10 format, but can't find any javadoc for it.
    Many thanks,
    Miso

  • Embed HTML tag inside XSLT to generate email content

    I want to Embed HTML tag inside XSLT to generate email content .
    XSLT is not working in Jdeveloper , when i use the syntax <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes" version="1.0"/> in transformation activity .
    Can anyone help to resolve the issue .

    in the <xsl:template match=""/> element you can just start with creating your html document
    so for example
         <xsl:template match="/">
              <html>
    the graphical mapper itself won't i think but when you test the xsl it will still procedure a html document, we use it too to generate the email body contents

    If this was purchased many months ago it may be because Apple changed its security set-up about six months ago at a rough guess. Go to and complete the questions posed at:

  • CF 9.0.2 and Oracle - On update returns error "Auto-generated keys were not requested..."

    We have a simple update statement to Oracle 11g Database. When running the statement the data is not getting updated and we are getting an error "Auto-generated keys were not requested, or the SQL was not a simple INSERT statement. ErrorCode=0 SQLState=HY000". We found this error by dumping the SQL to a file.
    But most other Update statements are working fine.
    Also, the same statment works for Oracle 10g and Coldfusion 9.0.0.
    Any idea if this is a problem with Coldfusion or Oracle? Is there any resolution.
    I found the CF 8 had a similar issue and was fixed in a hotfix (http://helpx.adobe.com/coldfusion/kb/error-auto-generated-keys-requested.html).

    Hi,
    Thanks. I compiled my code using JDeveloper 10.1.2, didn't dare to use the latest. It works in 10g apps server. When I deployed to 9ias apps server, those weird errors showed up. Unfornately, our dev environment is at a newer version than the production one.
    So, you think the error is generated because I referenced some newer technologies that was not provided by 9ias?
