Generic testing Strategy in ODI

Can somebody help me with any document related to generic testing strategy in ODI?

Hi ,
ODI provide the option to export / import ODI object in form of XML file. So , You can partial export some object that you want then import to the production env. As my exp , Sometime it has some issue about internal object ID link that make a ruin to the repository on the production. Because all the object in ODI was linked together with "Internal ID" that related between object.
With this method , you cannot track what's the different between prod and dev environment until you create a version of that object and use compare version utilty in designer.
Hope this help ,

  • Testing strategy after legal merge of two company codes

    Hi All,
This is my first integration project. Please help me out with my query:
My company is going through a merger and we have merged two company codes.
for e.g. company code 1 is in ABC company and company code 2 is in XYZ company. ABC is buying XYZ company. This means that company code 1 will remain and company code 2 will merge into company code 1. They are going to bring in the open line item AR/AP data from company code 2 into company code 1.
Any of you guys who have worked on an integration project before please guide me to some documents online or state some kind of testing strategy to adopt to test after the legal merge has taken place. I am mostly looking for a strategy to test intercompany process.
    Thanks,
    MS

    Hi
There are lot of issues that you need to take care of:
    1. is there any relation bwteeen the two company codes before merger. have they done any transactions between them? If yes, what wewould be the accounting treatment for the same. Would it be transferred at cost or Cost+Price (Transfer Price)
    2. If you are in India, there would be effects of taxation like excise and vat calculations
    3. One of the most important issue, is that of the new fiscal year. What strategy would you follow for the merged entity? In Sap, changing a fiscal year is a critical issue. Request you to refer SAP Help for the same. There are notes available for the same
    4. What would be the strategy for Asset valuations? Are there different asset valuation procedures followed in the two company codes?
    Thanks & regards

  • BW testing strategy

    Hi All,
I have requirement to create a BW testing strategy for any CRs received.
It has to cover general step by step procedure to be followed to test and document all the tests conducted on changes made in BW.
As a QA team lead, I have to prepare this plan to be followed further.
We work on BW 3.5 and use Mercury Quality center.
I am struck with how and where to start this. Please provide me with any test templates or general guidelines for testing.
Your help would be appreciated and rewarded with points.
    Thanks in advance
    Pavan

    Hi,
We have not used any tool like Mercury Quality center for testing. In our case we created some test scripts and based on that we proceeded further.
I will give you some standard tests we have to do in Quality.
All the testing is done in quality before moving into Prod.
Testing like Integration and unit testing are done in quality.
You need to test if the extractions are working fine, data is getting loaded into targets, post load activities like activation, rollup, compression etc are successfull etc.
We test the PC chains also in Quality.
We schedule / trigger the chains and monitor them. We ensure that all the process types are happening successfully.
One major area we concentrate on is to identify dependcies in the chain. This will ensure less erros and also reduce chain timings by a great extend. Dependencies should be kept to a minimum whereever possible.
Also in cases where we use events/third party shceduling tools to trigger BW chains we check that out.
Executing reports to check the definitions are correct.
The volume of data will be lesser in Quality compared to Prod.
Also activities like Change runs,Deletion , Selective deletion etc are done.
Almost all the activites in Prod are done in Quality.
    Refer.

  • Testing Strategy

    Hi,
I'd like to know the best practices while preparing a test strategy document for CRM-OD. I have done it for Siebel but i understand in OD it should be quite simpler. Any comments/ documents which could be shared please.
    Thanks,
    Smita

Smita, click on the Training and Support link in the upper right, then enter "Rollout Center" in the Search. This gives a step by step plan including testing for your CRM On Demand implementation.

  • Best migration strategy in ODI

What's the best strategy of migration in ODI ? I mean we have Dev,Test, UA and Production instances. I know there are metalink notes and some documentation on migration but I need to know the potential issues with migration if anyone has experienced. We may not migrate whole development to Test but migrate partially as some objects might be still under development before moving to test and in such scenario, how do we keep track between instances ? I appreciate if some one can throw some light on this who has experienced with different scenarios of migrating objects in ODI and ofcourse the best strategy of the migration process...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Apex Testing Strategy

    Folks,
We are looking for some help defining best practice for testing APEX applications.
Any pre-written strategy documents available? All and any input much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hey Tulley
    Any particular class of testing?
e.g. Scalability, Performance, Database Objects & Logic, Functional, Security?
If your answer is 'all of the above', I'd document each of these categories individually as the first step of your 'best practise.'
Within each, there's likely to be a bunch of techniques you can use and a bunch of relevant commercial and open source tools that'll save you some time applying these techniques, for instance, LoadRunner for Scalability & Performance and utPLSQL for PL/SQL unit testing.
That's how I'd write a best practice document anyway. I'm afraid I'm not aware of anything that's already been written.

    Double check below points.
    1. Make sure the port number is correct
    2. Make sure there is no firewall issues otherwise ODI cannot connect to http://172.25.113.147:20910
    3. Try to ping the 172.25.113.147

  • Generic (Test) data for InfoCubes

What's the program that can be used to create generic or test data for an infocube?

For Master data fields, you can just go and add the data in the Master data directly once you click DISPLAY DATA..
If you need transaction data, then you can upload through a FLATFILE i.e through Excel file. for which you need to create a source system and then create a test datasource and upload.
Also for detailed steps, lot of posts for FLATFILE upload, pls SEARCH the SDN..you can get more idea.

    Hi Kenny,
This error seems to indicate the credentials you've specified for the master repo are not working. Either ensure the login works at the repo, or rerun the installer and specify a set of known good credentials there.

  • Hard Drive Broken: Long Generic test fails!

    Hello
I just did a SeaGate test to test my hard drive, and the test fails already after 10 seconds! I discover the problem when i get errors with documents in Word and other programs. When i try to save them, the program says that the permission of the file is denied. When i try to save to external HD or USB, there is no problem...
My computer is only 1 year and a couple of months !?

    Hello Honkerd,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand that your SeaGate test fails after 10 seconds. I will do my best to assist you! To begin, I will provide an article that shows all SeaGate errors: How do I interpret SMART diagnostic utilities results?
Usually, issues like this occur when there is a corruption on an Administrator profile, or if you are not using an Administrator profile. I would create a new Administrator account and try it out. Let me know what happens!
Thanks for choosing the HP Forums! Have a great day!

  • ODI Agent Test Start is Wrong

    Hi,
I've been following John's excellant blog. I've created the master repository. In topology manager, I have created the connection, the dataserver, the work repository, the agent and context. I've updated odiparams.bat (http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2008/09/odi-series-part-2-agent.html)
I try to test of start ODI Agent I get this error:
    C:\ODI>C:\ODI\oracledi\bin\agentscheduler.bat "-port=20300" "-NAME=ODI_Agent"
The system cannot find the path specified.
    OracleDI: Starting Scheduler Agent ...
'oracle.odi.Agent' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
    My start agent .bat file:

ODI 10.1.3.5.0 has been updated to 10.1.3.5.5 via Oracle Data Integrator Cumulative Patch and Application Adapters for Data Integration Media Pack.

    Hi,
If you look in agentscheduler.bat the first lines are :-
    if "%ODI_HOME%" == "" set ODI_HOME=..
    call "%ODI_HOME%\bin\odiparams.bat"
echo OracleDI: Starting Scheduler Agent ...
In your output you have :-
The system cannot find the path specified.
It is trying to call "%ODI_HOME%\bin\odiparams.bat
and it can't find the file.
Do you have an windows environment variable set for ODI_HOME
If not create one and set its value to C:\ODI\oracledi
or update it to the path above
    It should then find odiparams.bat
    Cheers
    John

  • ODI 11g Weblogic agent test connection  in windows

    Hi,
I have deployed the ODI console,Java EE agent and ODI sdk web services.Weblogic admin server link http://localhost:7001/console/login/LoginForm.jsp.
The link for my ODI console looks like this :http://localhost:7001/odiconsole
In my master repository i have just created Java EE agent in my master repository with weblogic context as:oraclediagent and port:7001 is WLS server port.
Till now i have not created even single standalone agent.
I took encoded password for my Java EE agent say JAVA_AGENT2 and modified in the odiparams file.
i started the java agent and while testing the connection of this java agent i am getting following error.

2)If yes ,then odiparams needs to update for the standalone agent ?(i hope yes it is must)
3)I will now start creating the java ee odi agent and then, should i updtae the encoded password of for this agent in the same odiparams.bat file?
4)To create agents, data server, schema, respositoies which login name should i login i mean master repositoy login name/work repository login name?
    Please help me,
    Thanks,

  • Making an insert query generic in ODI procedure

    Hi,
i am writing a procedure in ODI to insert in a table my sql is simple:
    Insert into ci_txn_header_k
    select t.txn_header_id,f.env_id
    from ci_txn_header t,f1_installation f
where t.bo_status_cd='PEND' and t.txn_header_id not in (select txn_header_id from ci_txn_header_k)
I wish to make this query generic and use the ODI ref functions in it.can i get the schema and table name using the Odiref functions. If so then plz guide me how

    Hi,
Import all tables referenced in your query into a logical model / models.
    ci_txn_header_k
    ci_txn_header,
    f1_installation f
Lets assume you import the tables into one Logical model / schema called 'GENERIC'
Then simply reference them using <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L""CI_TXT_HEADER","GENERIC","GLOBAL","D")%>
Im using context 'GLOBAL' in my example above, replace with your context.
    So something like :
    Insert into <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","CI_TXT_HEADER_K","GENERIC","GLOBAL","D")%> k
    select t.txn_header_id,f.env_id
    from
    <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","CI_TXN_HEADER","GENERIC","GLOBAL","D")%> t,
    <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","F1_INSTALLATION","GENERIC","GLOBAL","D")%> f
where t.bo_status_cd='PEND' and t.txn_header_id not in (select txn_header_id from <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","CI_TXN_HEADER","GENERIC","GLOBAL","D")%>)
Hope this helps, check out the API Substitution ref for a guide, also worth looking at Knowledge Modules and how they build up From clauses in LKM and IKM steps - you can learn a lot by referencing the existing code that ships with the product.
