Get a font's file name from the font's postscript name (on Windows)

I am trying to obtain the the font file name when the only information I have is the font's 'postscript' name. (Emphasis: the font's name is postscript and not the font).
For example I have the following postscript name: TimesNewRomanPSMT.
The real name that is saved in the registry is: Times New Roman (TrueType).
Is there any way of obtaining that name from the given postscript name?
Currently I am coding this for Windows, but it should be compatible, or at least have alternative code for MacOS

Funny. I'm having the same problem and was about to post the exact same question
In Photoshop, there is "app.fonts", which lets you get a font's postscript name from the font's name. This doesn't exist in After Effects.
My only hope is that there's a way to get a font's postscript name in Visual Basic. I'll let you know if I find anything useful.

Getting AC3 or AIFF files directly from the DVD studio Timeline.

I'm trying to give my website manager parts of one of my previous demos. Instead of completely rendering the whole thing over I imported the original Mpeg, AC3 and AIFF files to my DVD studio timeline. There I was able to cut out the middle of my demo by cutting the end of one Sequence and the beginning of the other. With this said I want to give my website manager Mpeg and AIFF or AC3 files for him to use. I was able to export the Mpeg file easily but am not able to export either of the audio files, does anyone have an idea?

Hmm, you really should completely render the whole thing over again.
MPEG-2 videos are very highly compressed. If you take that and compress it again for the web, there is going to be a guaranteed loss in quality. Think of photocopying. If you make a photocopy of a picture, it comes out pretty good. But if you make a photocopy of that photocopy, it comes out very bad. You want to avoid double compressing.
Go back to your original videos in FCP, edit the clips you want. Then export out QuickTime mov files using the same codec you edited in. Give those to your website manager for compression for the web.

How can I get a font's filename from the font's name?

Hello all. I'm trying to copy a font from C:\WINDOWS\Fonts to another directory, but it's not always possible. To copy it I need the font's filename but, through Javascript, I can only get its name (not to confuse with the file name), family or PostScript name. For instance, "OCR A Extended"'s filename is "OCRAEXT.TTF", but I couldn't find a way to resolve the second name from the first (and tried a lot of things).
My first workaround has been opening a File.openDialog when the font's name and filename do not match, so the user goes to "WINDOWS\Fonts" and selects the file, but this directory is a bit tricky and will never accept the selection. However, if the font is any other directory that "Fonts", the file can be selected without problems.
I can figure some ways to solve this (for instance, asking the user to get the filename by himself and type it in a text box) but I'd rather ask here just in case there's an easy way I couldn't find out in the manual neither in the forums.

I have managed to get a file with a complete list of fonts with thier filenames using vbs
It creates Fontlist.txt on the desktop, you could even call the script from the jsx and read the values in once the file has been created.

How to get the Users Name from the SSL certificate?

Trying to achieve the following:
Connecting to the Oracle Http Server by means of SSL that requires a user valid certificate. Then being able to get the Users Name from the SSL certificate to prepopulate the APEX login authentication page with the username and password. Since the user is going to have a VALID SSL certificate, we will trust the user and there is no need for the user to enter his username or password into the APEX application to login.
Does SSO do this or something else?

Well it started happening AGAIN with my 2nd IPod. No matter what I did, it Itunes would NOT restore it!
I finally installed Itunes on my hubby's PC at work and managed to get it restored there.
Apparently, there must be some sort of compatibility issue with the windows version of Itunes and some other piece of software on my pc.
And one more important thing! I had to follow the instructions in the other thread that talks about how to correctly uninstall itunes and quicktime, in order to completely eliminate ALL traces of my "first" ipod's existence so it wouldn't demand that I restore it.
I think the software got "confused" and thought when I connected my 2nd ipod, that it was the 1st and that it still needed to be restored.
Basically, this is just POORLY written and POORLY tested software!

I tried "Copy" and paste but it doesn't work. I tried "Share" with Airdrop and iChat, but the file is inaccessible. When i try to rename the file, it says the filename is too long.
When I try to open it, it says the alias is not good, and asks if I want to fix the alias. I'm afraid to do that and lose all access to this document.
Right now, it feels like a ghost document - it is on the computer intact, but it is in an undisclosed location and inaccessible.
Please help!!

I was able to resolve this by repairing permissions, even though no permissions error was listed specifically for that file.
I could also have recovered it through Time Machine, but I'm interested in knowing how not to have this happen again!
I was afraid of rebooting and possibly losing track even of the ghost.
I did not try EasyFind - I'll keep that in mind next time.

Unfortunately, that drive is long gone, probably back to the mfr. Drives are not returned when they are exchanged. You can go by and ask them, but the chances are slim to none.

Report that gets full name from the users id in the computer name

I don't even know if this is possible, but I am finding that quite often of late I am needing to get the users full name from the computer name.
We have a standard where a computer name is in this format XXXXXXXUSERID.
Is there a way to get the Full name from the USERID that is in the computername (not last logged on user).
I am fairly sure that I might be able to work it out in SQLSMS but I really need it on the web reports form SCCM.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
