Get color of title bar

Hi guys. How do i get the color of the title bar of my JFrame?

try
new Color(java.awt.SystemColor.windowBorder.getRGB())it might not be windowBorder but I think it is. Check out the docs on SystemColor there are a whole bunch of static variables you can try if windowBorder isn't the right one.

    Is this a bug?

    No - this is not true for Toolbars. They are not translucent to stuff outside of themselves. Only to content inside of them. As with Safari.
    At least on this system, Finder, Safari, System Preferences and any app with a toolbar is NOT translucent to its background. Only in Safari's to the content viewed within it like the Finder Side Bar...
    To OP - It looks like bug. To me.
    One that I can personally NOT recreate here.
    Try this
    Goto System Preferences > Accessibility and select Display from the list.
    Then check "Reduce Transparency" and see if goes away - if it does not... Report it to apple.

  • Any way to get at the title bar in JFrame?

    I'd like to either add a button to the title bar (title pane?) or override the behavior of the resize button. As far as I can tell, the LookNFeel classes don't allow you to add anything, just change colors, icons, etc. The WindowListener classes don't let you get at the resize button. I don't want to override Component.setSize() (that causes other problems), I just want to have the resize button do something different (or add another button).
    I'd appreciate any ideas!

    1) You could create your own frame that extends JWindow. This would be quite involved, since you'd need to make it respond to mouse drags, mouse resizing etc explicitly (if you wanted that functionality), but you would be able to add your own custom border, which you could make to look like a system border, or you could make comletely different.
    2) I don't know this could be persuaded to do what you want, but you could try adding a ComponentListener to the JFrame to check for resizes, and take action accordingly

  • How to get rid of title bar of a quicktime window?

    The main problem:
    I want to display the title info etc about each track as they play in iTunes. How can I do that on an otherwise black screen (desktop) (I don't want to use the visualizer with its psychedelic patterns).
    Background:
    I want to play music from iTunes (many pieces in a row - for like a full day). While this is happening I want the title etc of the tune to be displayed on the screen, like white smallish text against a black background in the lower right hand corner. At the same time I want slides to be displayed on the screen.
    So, with iPhoto I can run a slide show but only while one piece of music is playing.
    Instead I can have the desktop slowly change (from system preferences) with images from a folder every 5 seconds. That's not too bad. Looks good, actually, except for that annoying menu bar at the top! Well, black tape can hide that one (or a second display and move it over there). Now iTunes can play away all day.
    As to how to get the title etc of the song playing displayed I was thinking about somehow extracting it from iTunes with applescript, then paste it into the text track of a quicktime movie, and display that little movie in a small window. I have figured out how to get rid of the controller from the window. But, I can not figure out how to get the title bar of the quicktime window to go away - that is I want a window with nothing around it, neither controllers nor title bar nor anything. How do I create such a window. Any good ideas out there?
    Or is there a totally different way of obtaining the same effect?
    Thanks.
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi,
    You could try posting at the QuickTime discussion area. There might be an iTunes visualizer that allows you to make a slideshow with track info. It has been a while since I tried making a SMIL file, but I think you could do what you want with that. Not sure how you create a streaming text of track information. I would have to do some reviewing.

  • How can I get back the title bar in Thunderbird 38?

    The title bar can be turned on and off in Firefox. In the current version of Thunderbird (31), the title bar is present by default and there is no option to turn it off. In the beta version (38), there is no title bar by default… but I can't believe that there's no way to get it back. So, where is this setting? I can't find it.

    I sure agree that the setting isn't easily discoverable, but that's too late for the 38.0 release given that string freezes went in effect already (the reason being that localizers have to translate all UI elements for their respective language).
    The respective [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=814571 bug report] has been up for more than two years, but thus far not much progress in terms of a solution acceptable by the developers. I don't know if the extension proposed in the last comment was ever developed and posted.

  • How do I get rid of title bar?

    When I installed Firefox on my new Windows 8 computer, I got a style in which there is no title bar. The tabs are up there with an orange Firefox button at the left. It provides access to the menu items. I like that. However, I wanted the function of my profile on a Windows 7 machine. (Lots of stuff in there.) When I installed that, it put me back in a situation where there is a title bar unnecessarily wasting some vertical screen space. In that Windows 7 profile, I was using the Tiny Menu addon to compress the menu items onto a single button. It is on a line with the Location bar and the search bar. The tabs are below. I cannot figure out what to tweak in the profile from my Windows 7 to get to the appearance I like in the Windows 8 install.
    I tried the advice here: http://www.squidoo.com/hide-firefox-title-bar
    I don't see any Tabs on Top setting, and browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar is already set to true. When I disable the Menu toolbar, the title bar goes away and the tabs are up there with the orange Firefox button; however, I lose the Location bar and the search bar altogether.
    There's got to be a way to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

    Something very weird is going on. I achieved a brief success as follows:
    Not sure exactly what did it. With Task Bar Plus, Stylish, All-in-One Sidebar, and the bookmarks toolbar disabled, I did do that reset to defaults for the toolbar. I had skipped that earlier because I did not see how it was going to affect the tab bar and my toolbar configuration (with All-in-one Side Bar) is fairly complicated. However, I was getting desperate. It still did not solve the problem directly. However, when I enabled the Navigation Bar, success! The odd thing is that I had fiddled with enabling the Navigation bar on multiple previous occasions with no luck; so I am still not sure exactly what happened. I thought the problem was solved. But it was not:
    Then I started experimenting to figure out what had been causing it. I enabled all those things (except the bookmarks bar). It stopped working. I disabled Tab Mix Plus, and I got a brief success at the first instant when I enabled the Navigation bar. Then I restarted Firefox, and it did not work then or after any subsequent restart. I have gone so far as to restart in safe mode with all addons disabled. It still does not work right. I go back to the profile from the Windows 8 install, and all is well again.
    What is going on? I may have to give up and further develop the profile from Windows 8 to come closer to the function I had in Windows 7; but I dread that process.

  • Original form name still appears in the web title bar when renamed file is posted.

    When I rename a form for reuse the name of the original form still appears in the web title bar. How do I get the web title bar to reflect the new form name?

    Outlook Web Access sends illegal Content-Disposition headers and this is no longer allowed in Firefox 8. The server needs to be fixed.

  • Title Bar Modern Apps Missing

    For some reason the Title Bar disappeared when I moved my mouse on top of screen. Instead of the Title Bar shows up the mouse turns into a hand. When I Un-install the KB 9219355 update I was able to bring down the Modern App to close it, but I never get
    back the Title Bar - that have the minimize and the X close button.

    Hi,
    In fact,  after you install KB9219355, the Windows store app is like this:
    The Minimize button, Close button, and taskbar are more available with your mouse.
    This is normal behavior and the feature included in this Windows Update.
    According to your description, it seems that you didn't install this update successfully.
    Please check its status in View installed updates.
    If it failed, please reinstall it for test.

  • Click title bar JDialog ecvent

    Hello,
    I would like to detect the click down and up on a JDialog's titlebar in
    order to to listen when the jdialog's move ends.
    I already implemented a ComponentAdapter for my JDialog. I implemented
    the componentMoved() method to replace my JDialog in a specific place,
    on the screen.
    public void componentMoved(ComponentEvent e) {
    final Window win = (Window) e.getComponent();
    Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
    final int yB = screenSize.height/3;
    if (win.getY() < yB){
    SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
    public void run(){
    //replace the jdialog
    win.setLocation(new Point(win.getX(), yB));
    When I drag and drop quickly my jdialog, there is no problem. But, when
    I move my JDialog, and click up slowly my JDialog, it stays at the
    place. It doesn't move to my specific place.
    Could you help me ?
    I use Redhat 5 and Kde. I use JDK 6. Is it a kde-jvm communication
    problem ? or a KDE bug ??

    In the future, Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
    You can't add listeners to the title bar unless you use:
    JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
    Then you need to use the UI to get the actual title bar component.
    If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
    Don't forget to use the Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting. That is done by selecting the code and then clicking on the "Code" button above the question input area.

  • How do I remove the title bar from a Palm PDA front panel?

    On several PDA screens, I need all the real esate I can get. The title bar chews up a lot of it.  Is there any way, in the vi settings or programmatically, that I can remove the title bar?
    I've already tried the obvious step of unchecking "window has a title bar" in the window appearance catagory of the vi properties.  No apparent effect is seen.

    Hello,
    It sounds like you are referring to the GUI actually on your Palm devices.  I believe on Palm devices all applications have a title bar, and there isn't a way to get rid of it.  My guess is that perhaps this is a feature you can enable/disable as a Palm OS setting, or may simply be the way the Palm has defined its user interface.  If you have your Palm devices handy, check out the display settings to see any has an option to remove the title bars in general.  If you find out either way, definitely repost so the community can find the answer here as well!
    Thank you,

  • How can I change the color of a title bar?

    Ok, I have been looking for this answer for over a week now and nobody
    has yet given me an answer that works. So I am going to ask again.
    Here is a piece of code you can run to see what I am trying to do:
    public class RemoteDisplayFrame extends JFrame {
    public static final Color GRAY70 = new Color(179, 179, 179);
    public RemoteDisplayFrame() {
    super();
    public RemoteDisplayFrame(String title) {
    super(title);
         public void setBorderContent() {
    this.setUndecorated(true);
    JRootPane rootPane = this.getRootPane();
    rootPane.setWindowDecorationStyle( JRootPane.PLAIN_DIALOG );
    this.setRootPane( rootPane );
    public static void main( String [] args ) {
    RemoteDisplayFrame frame = new RemoteDisplayFrame( "Test Frame" );
    frame.setBorderContent();
    frame.pack();
    frame.show();
    Run this code and you should get a frame on your screen that has no
    close buttons, minimize buttons, or maximize buttons, and no menu.
    I want to change the title bar's color to a specific color.
    That color is GRAY70:
    public static final Color GRAY70 = new Color(179, 179, 179);
    If you have any idea on how to do this please do tell.

    AFAIK, you can't. I believe the title bar is rendered by the operating system, using the colors the user has chosen, consistently for all windows. Frankly, if your app could, it would annoy me, as I would still want all my windows to look consistent.

  • Changing color on the title bar

    How can I during runtime change the color of the title bar? I want to flash the title bar to warn, but I haven't found the function to set the color of it yet...
    Thanks in advance!

    since 1.4 you can use
    JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated( true );
    JDialog.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated( true );to get jframes and jdialogs looking like jinternalframes. but i don't know if it is now possible to change the color.

  • Title bar buttons have no color...why?

    I have only seen colored buttions in the title bar a handful of times on my iMac since i bought it new. I have searched forums and the web and no anser I can find anywhere.
    Does anyone on here have any idea why this would happen? Could it possibly be tied in with the gray screen I get when booting up? I had this issue both before and after I had to swap my internal drive out.
    Thanks.
    Shawn

    I'm doing this from memory, so bear with me.
    Go to the Apple Menu in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
    Click on it and select "System Preferences..."
    Click on the "General" icon.
    At the top of the General Pane should be "Appearance:".
    Make certain Appearance is set to "Blue" and not "Graphite".

  • Color of the title bar

    HI
    How do you change the color of the title bar of a frame....also is it possible to paint an image on the tile bar so that its looks could be enhanced..pls help

    Hi Arya,
    There are 2 questions here, 1 is simple to answer the other is quite difficult.
    How do you change the color of the title bar of a frameSimply add the colors you want to the UIManager
    UIManager.put("Frame.activeTitleBackground", new ColorUIResource(YOURCOLOUR_BACKGROUND));
    UIManager.put("Frame.activeTitleForeground", new ColorUIResource(YOURCOLOUR_FOREGROUND));
    UIManager.put("Frame.inactiveTitleBackground", new ColorUIResource(YOURCOLOUR_INACTIVE_BACKGROUND));
    UIManager.put("Frame.inactiveTitleForeground", new ColorUIResource(YOURCOLOUR_INACTIVE_FOREGROUND));
    also is it possible to paint an image on the tile bar This is a bit more tricky. You will need to implement your own RootPaneUI which in turn uses a TitlePane class that represents the title bar. In your implementation of the title bar you will handle adding an image.
    Have a look at MetalRootPaneUI and MetalTitlePane to get an idea about the implementation.
