Get current playlist in iTunes

I'm pretty sure this worked at one time, but I don't know what was changed.
I need to get the name of the currently selected playlist.The following command doesn't work on 2 different computers (10.4 & 10.3).
tell application "iTunes" to get current playlist
Looking at the dictionary from both machines, this should work. I'm totally confused, hopfully I'm just missing something stupid.
Oh ya, the "current track" property has the same problem.
Both properties only return "unknown object" error

Current track & playlist only return info about what's playing. If nothing is playing, you'll get an error. What you want is the visible selection, which is obtained thusly:

Click on the title for the first column, which contains numbers. You can then drag the songs into any order you want.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

How do I get new playlists in iTunes match?

I've been signed up for iTunes match for over a year, but only recently got an iPhone and Apple TV. Only my older playlists show up in the music section - how do I get new ones up?

I did see this yes, I also spent about 20 minutes on the phone finally with a technical support person at Apple who told me to restart and reset my phone which got rid of the few playlists I'd somehow managed to keep on my phone, and also got me off his back because I had to hang up with him to do so....useless.

I've been reading through all the articles and trying as many solutions as people have offered with no results. Itunes Playlists are showing on my macbook and my Imac, but I cannot edit which playlists are showing on my Iphone 4S, I connected it by USB to see if I could edit the playlists selected there but there was no way to do that as it says Itunes Match is on, and it's only placing copies of purchased/recently added playlists onto my phone.
People had mentioned in earlier posts, adding and removing computers, authorizing and deauthorizing, editing the playlists titles, deleting songs from playlists, turning phone on and off, toggling on and off on Itunes Match, NOTHING IS WORKING! I'm a dance teacher and I need my playlists, this is making my life very very difficult and I'm incredibly frusterated that instead of Paying for a service that was supposed to help my music problems I have paid for a service that has simply created a brand new one. I even paid for an extra 10 GB of Icloud space to see if that changed anything and it didn't so now I'm up to 40$ in annual charges all for something that is so far absolutely useless to me. Why can't I get a playlist on ITunes on Ipad to stop after each song? I can do it on ITunes on my PC.

On the PC, when you un check the selections and transfer them to an IPod they will not play until you choose them. On the IPad2 they continually play. We are trying to use this for church, and it will be a waste of money if it doesn't work as we need it to. So we need to create a list of songs for the service, and only play them when we want them to play....not continuously.

How can I get a playlist created on my iPad to iTunes?

I create a playlist on the iPad... I love it... I want it on the iPhones in my household.
How can I get that playlist into iTunes, so I can push it out to the other iOS devices?
When I sync the iPad with iTunes, the playlist created on the iPad is wiped out.
All devices (iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad 2) are on iOS 5.0.1.

You can't move an iMovie project file and expect it to play.
You need to export from the machine that holds the source files to the format supported by the device.

I can't sync my iPod playlists to iTunes?

I have a playlist on my iPod with about 400 songs in it and every time I sync with iTunes I lose it. I really don't like re-making the playlist and I want to sync more songs to my iPod.
I've heard that with iTunes you should be able to pull down playlists under the device tab, and I've done that but it doesn't even show the current playlists on my iPod. It doesn't show playlists I made after my last sync, and it shows playlists that don't even exist on my iPod anymore.
Is there another way I can get the playlist on iTunes?

How do I add to a current playlist and How do I get the additions to download on my phone?

First I tried to change a playlist and add more songs. Now it won't let me add the songs. Before, I was able to add them, but they would not download to my phone. The old playlist keeps on downloading. I think because it is in iclouds.
Help. How to I add songs to my current playlist and get them to download on my phone. If I can't do that, how do I get the old playlist deleted from icloud, my computer and my phone so I can start over. I don't have a lot of room on my phone. Before I download a new playlist, I have to get rid of the old one.

I think I have this posted in the wrong area, but don't know how to change it. I figured out how to download songs to my playlist in Itunes 12.1. It seems that it does not work unless I delete the songs from my library first so they are only available on icloud. Then I move the songs to the playlist. After I am done adding the songs to the playlist, I press the cloud next to the playlist and the songs are downloaded to my iphone. If I press sync first, I end up with the old playlist back on my computer minus the deletions and new songs.
I am now having problems getting my new purchases to transfer to my library. If anyone knows how to get Itunes 12.1 to do this automatically, please let me know.

If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music you need to get them from where you got them before.
