Get current user in toolarea (jsp page)

Hi
I try to retrive logged user in toolarea par (ToolAreaiView.jsp) with this code:
IUser user;
user= UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser(request, response);
out.write(user.getName());
but I have error for request and response (object not found...)
This code is ok if I create a normal jsp page... but seems have problems when I use it in par project of tool area.
Thanks!
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
You say you can use it in the toolarea PAR but at the bottom you say you cannot use in the toolarea par. Do you mean if you create an abstractportalcomponent in the toolarea par?
In a JSP page, the request and response objects are automatically generated for you (implicit objects).
In an abstractportalcomponent, you have to define the nameso frequest and response in the docontent signature. Do you define it there?

  • How do I get the URL of a jsp page?

    I have a jsp page which has a link to a servlet page, in the servlet page, I want to get the URL of the jsp page.
    I tried to use request.getHeader("referer"), it seems like if it is a link in the jsp directly lead to the servlet, it works, but if the link calls a javascript function which opens up a window runing the servlet, it is not working. I have to do the second way, so it is not working by doing request.getHeader("referer")
    I tried to use javascript "location.href", I get the whole url by alerting the url in the jsp page:
    http://localhost:8080/pos-webapp/serv/qt_old?currentpage=portal&bcd=ABC123&pnm=P1001830&prnm=1&psd=236863.0&ln=01&sln=NYPPA&stp=2.1&stt=A&_POSID=1F8464122ADAF4EEC9B1A94C286EB252
    then I pass this url when calling with my servlet, in the servlet page, when I do request.getParameter("url"), the url is actually cut off like this:
    http://localhost:8080/pos-webapp/serv/qt_old?currentpage=portal
    anything after &pnm is cut off, anyone has any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you.
    but how do I put encoding in the javascript code? do I need to decode in my servlet page?
    here is my code in the jsp page:

  • How to get the value in one JSP page to another?

    Hi,
    I have problems in passing the value around in JSP. I have two JSP pages as below:
    test1.jsp
    I try to get the vaule from my textbox by using:
    String strUser = request.getParameter ("strUserName");
    Then i print out by using: out.print(strUser); then i can get the value and put on my page (For example, i get ABC on my page).
    test2.jsp
    Next, i want to get the value from strUser (which mean that the one i already display on page in test1.jsp, ABC) to insert into my table by using INSERT INTO statement. Then i try by using
    String strUser1 = request.getParameter ("strUser");
    Is it possbile for me to do that? I cannot get anything to insert into my table. Then i tried out.print(strUser1); then i found that i get NULL value.
    Could you please give me some guidance?
    Thanks you very much for any advise you may give me.

  • Help needed urgently to get the values from the jsp page.

    hi,
    I am badly stuck into this problem.Please help me and find a solution.
    I am using ms-access and jsp.
    my database structure is as given below:
    m_emp_no | from_date | to_date | approver| status |
    1002 | 22/9/2008 | 23/9/2008|1003 |pending
    1004 | 29/9/2008 | 30/9/2008|1003 |pending
    2044 | 15/9/2008 | 16/9/2008|3076 |pending
    now this is exactly a leave apply scenario where a page is displayed and the user has to fill in the details to apply leave.then the approver has to approve that leaves so even, he should get the details in his account.
    for example here 1003 has to approve leaves for 1002 & 1004.i am able to fetch data from database for the particular approver here is the coding:
    <html>
    <body>
    <h2 align="center"><u><b><span style="background-color: #FFFFFF"><font color="#C0C0C0" face="Comic Sans MS">Leave
    Approval Requests</font></span></b></u></h2>
    <form method="POST" name="f1" action="update.jsp">
    <%
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:employee_details");
    PreparedStatement p=null;
    p=con.prepareStatement("select * from emp_leave_application where approver='"+username+"'");
    ResultSet r=p.executeQuery();
    while(r.next())
    %>  <table border="1" width="100%" bordercolor="#FFFFFF" bordercolorlight="#FFFFFF" bordercolordark="#FFFFFF">
        <tr>
          <td width="100%" bgcolor="#999966"><b><u><%=r.getString(2)%></u></b></td>
        </tr>
      </table>
      <table border="1" width="100%" height="171" bordercolor="#FFFFFF" bordercolorlight="#FFFFFF" bordercolordark="#FFFFFF">
        <tr>
          <td width="100%" height="165" valign="top">
            <p align="left"><b>User ID</b>        :
    <input type="text" name="id" value="<%=r.getString(1)%>"  size="4
         <b>status</b>:<%=r.getString(5)%</p>
    <p><b>Leave From</b> : <%=r.getString(2)%></p>
    <p><b>Leave From</b> : <%=r.getString(3)%></p>
    <p><b>Approve</b> : <select  size="1" name="approved">
            <option value="Approved">Approved</option>
            <option value="Cancelled">Cancelled</option>        </select></p>
    <%
    con.close();
    %>
      <table border="1" width="100%" bordercolor="#FFFFFF" bordercolorlight="#FFFFFF" bordercolordark="#FFFFFF">
              <tr>
                <td width="100%" bgcolor="#999966">
                  <p align="center"><input type="reset" value="Clear" name="B1">
                  <input type="submit" value="Submit" name="B2"></td>
              </tr>
            </table>
            </td>
        </tr>
      </table>
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>{code}
    this will display both the rows but when i try to retrieve the values into update.jsp using the code given below it gives me only one value which is the first 1002.
    {code}approved=(String)request.getParameter("approved");
    id=(String)request.getParameter("id");{code}
    but i need both the values to be inserted into the update.jsp only then the approver will be able to approve the leaves individually with respect to the m_emp_no.
    please help me out.

  • Get Javascript Value in a JSP page

    Let's say this is my javascript function in a html page
    .<head>
    <!-- Function getFields -->
    function getFields(){
    if (row >= 0){
    for(var i=0; i<costForm.elements.length; i++){
    if(costForm.elements.type == "text" || costForm.elements[i].type == "hidden"){
    dynTableFields[i] = (costForm.elements[i].value)? costForm.elements[i].value : "";
    if(costForm.elements[i].type == "select-one"){
    dynTableFields[i] = costForm.elements[i].selectedIndex;
    </head>
    How do i get the costForm.elements.length value in another jsp page. Coz the html page has dynamic rows by the users. and i need the values in the jsp page to know how many rows the user created.
    using normal request.getParameter("costForm.elements.length") doesn't work

    request.getParameter() will only get data that's been submitted thru a form or the query string of a URL. You'd have to record the length in a hidden field to read it on the back end, and then you can't just loop thru the fields like that in JSP on the server anyway, unless you have all fields named with a prefix and number, like: field1, field2, field3, etc.

  • How do I get the user information for a page?

    I would like to display information about the person that created a page in CQ.  I know I can get the createdBy information from the page properties, but how can I turn that into a user object where I can get more detialed information about that user?

    If you are within an OSGi bundle you can use the SlingRepository Service. Now it depends how you develop your OSGi services and components. I use the maven scr plugin for this. With this plugin it is possible to get references to services with java annotaions.
    Example:
    @Component(name="SampleService",
            label = "SampleService",
            description = "SampleService",
            immediate = true, enabled = true, metatype = true)
    @Services({ @Service(value = SampleService.class) })
    @Properties({
    @Property(name = "service.description", value = "SampleService"),
    @Property(name = "service.vendor", value = ") })
    public class SampleServiceImpl implements SampleService
    @Reference(policy = ReferencePolicy.STATIC)
    private SlingRepository repository;
        public void openAdminSession() {
            Session session = null;
            if (repository != null) {
                try {
                    session = repository.loginAdministrative(null);
                    //do something here
                } catch (RepositoryException e) {
                    LOG.error("Unable to open admin session:" + e.toString());
                } finally{
                                              if(session != null){
                          session.logout();
    To access a service from a JSP page you can use the reference of the SlingScriptHelper. You have to use the <cq:defineObjects/> tag.
    Example jsp:
    <cq:defineObjects/>
    SlingRepository repository = sling.getService(SlingRepository.class);
    Session session = null;
            if (repository != null) {
                try {
                    session = repository.loginAdministrative(null);
                    //do something here
                } catch (RepositoryException e) {
                    LOG.error("Unable to open admin session:" + e.toString());
                } finally{
                                              if(session != null){
                          session.logout();

  • Caml query - get current user name

    I have an external list via BDC (so cannot change column type, create calculated column or workflow
    ). There is a text column “Supervisor”. I need to create a view that display all items which the value of “Supervisor” = current login user’s display name or login name (windows user name).
    I tried set up the field on the UI with [Me] function which does not work because “Supervisor” is not an user/group type column. Now I am working on the code. I found the follow caml query on the web that is close to what I need:
    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name='Supervisor' LookupId='TRUE'/>
    <Value Type='Integer'><UserID/></Value>
    </Eq>
    I know this only work if the ‘Supervisor’ type is “User”. I just wonder if someone know how to replace the <Value> with a text string
    of the current user’s display name or window name? I really appreciate for any help (I have struggled with this issue for a week).
    Forget to mention that I am working on a web part page in SharePoint designer, not in Visual Studio. So I cannot not using spcontext class.

    Thank you again for your response.  For this method, I need need to find a way to get the current user to a variable, the use the varrible in the query. This works for me:
    <ParameterBinding Name="UserID" Location="CAMLVariable;ServerVariable(LOGON_USER)" DefaultValue="CurrentUserName"/>
    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name="Supervisor"/>
    <Value Type="Text">{UserID}</Value>
                    </Eq>
                    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name="AttnMonitor"/>
    <Value Type="Text">{UserID}</Value>
                   </Eq>

  • Getting current user

    How do i get the current user name/details on weblogic 8.1 server.
    I used to use 'weblogic.security.acl.Security.getCurrentUser()' in weblogic 6.1
    but i'm investigating moving to weblogic 8.1 and this no longer works. I assume
    i should be using MBeans but not really sure exactly which one.
    Any pointers would be very helpful.

    in which context is this, servlet/jsp or ejb?
    in a jsp try the request.getRemoteUser(), or in an EJB use the EJBContext

  • Get current user in portal service context

    hi guys,
    We want to implement a portal service which will check user's role from LDAP, and we need to get the current user id.
    We know for class IPortalComponentRequest, there is method getUser().getUserId(), is there any similar method for IServiceContext? or any way for us to get user id in portal service?
    regards,
    Guo Feng

    Hi Feng,
    Implement
    public String getParameter(IPortalComponentRequest arg0, String arg1)
    eg in your implementation class and add the following code.
    IUserContext userContext = arg0.getUser();
    String username = userContext.getLogonUid();
    String full_name = userContext.getDisplayName();

  • Not able to get current user in PCD Filter factory implementation method

    hi all,
      In the  PCD Filter factory implementation method . i am using the following code
    public Object getObjectInstance(Object arg0, Name arg1, Context arg2, Hashtable env)
         throws Exception
              if (Constants.ASPECT_NAVIGATION.equals(env.get(Constants.REQUESTED_ASPECT)))
              IUser user = (IUser) env.get(IPcdContext.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL);
              String department="null";
              if (user != null)
                 department=user.getDepartment();
                   if ((department != null) && (!department.equals("")))
              filterExpression = "(" + FilterDepartmentService.Department_ATTRIBUTE_KEY + "=" + department + ")";
              return filterExpression;
    but i cannot able to get the current user. how to get the current user in the above method..
    Regards,
    Shanthakumar.

    Hi,
      First print the output for env.get(IPcdContext.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL);
    If it returns null, set it from the request object first (from the method where Hashtable is declared and request obj is available) and then use it in this getObjectInstance method.
    env.put(IPcdContext.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, request.getUser());
