Get Last value in logical column or answer OBIEE

Hi Gurus,
I have detail report like this
YEAR GRADE_ID    Group    Value      Desired Value
2013    D                     1         9000      100000
                                  1         9000       100000
                                  1         9000       100000
                                  2         1000        100000
                                  2         1000          100000
                                  2         1000          100000
I want to sum the lastest value from group 1 and group 2, how to do this in Logical column in repository or in dashboard or perhaps in PL SQL?

Note:
The datas per year divided in two section group 1 (Jan-Mar), group 2(Apr-Dec).
But If the current month is FEB then the latest avg value is 9000 then desired value also 9000,
If the current month is JUN then Desired value = the latest avg value of MAR + the latest avg value of JUN

it says ORA-01821: date format not recognized. I want to find the relation of scn with timestamp. In forums i found, scn is derived from timestamp value. I dont know its correct or not.

May be there's an easy way solving your problem, I did it like that:

By using this query, I am getting a dataset which includes all the columns of sharepoint list. Among these columns, I wanted to display only 2 columns (i.e Region and Sales type) using chart. I have created a Region parameter but when I click preview, the drop down box is giving me all the repeatative values of region like RG1,RG1,RG1,RG2,RG2,RG2,RG2,RG3.......... I wanted to display only distinct values of Region parameter so that whenever end user select region from the parameter drop down, it will display the respective value of Sales type column.
Also when I select only RG1 parameter, it is giving me a chart including the sales type of all the Regions. (it should display me only the sales type of RG1) How can I link these 2 columns so that they will display the values respectively.
          I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out with this.

Hi Sam,
By code, the CAML language doesn’t have any reserved word (or tag) to set this particular filter to remove duplicate results.
In this case, we could use the custom code to get distinct records.
Here are the detailed steps:
1.         Create a hidden parameter that gets all the records in one field.
Note: Please create another dataset that is same of the main dataset. This dataset is used for the parameter.
2.         Create a function that used to remove the duplicate records.
Here is the code:

And the default value to be the value you what such as the first value:
=Split(Code.RemoveDups(JOIN(Parameters!ISSUE_STATUS_TEMP.Value, ",")), ",").(0)
4.         Go to the main dataset. Open the property window of this dataset.
5.         In the “Filters” tab, set the filter to be:
Expression: <The field to be filter>
Operator: =
Value: =Parameters!Region.Value
The parameter “Region” should be the parameter we created in the step3.
Now, we should get distinct values of SharePoint columns.

Well, for more clearly! My problem is I must have the Unit Cost of Items, so I've got it in the cm_cmpt_dtl (table), but if I want to, I must create a relation that require 2 filed, they're Item_ID and Whse_Code.
There's no problem with Item_ID, but Whse_Code seem to be the Mission Impossible (hix, I hate that film!!!!)
I wonder if It was right to post this topic here. But anyway I just post my question here, hope I could get some help.

Because the batch_no can be duplicated as we also create Batch and Filrm Planned Order.

I am new to Bex, i have the sales data of 2008,2009,2010. now i have to display the sales order(key figure) for 2008,2009,2010 in separate columns for each customer(dimension) in a single report , can any one help me how to get this done in bex.

Hi ,
You can achieve this either creating New Selections or Restricted Key Figures.
Right click on the structute>>>> New selcection>>> drag the year to right [ Right Click on it >>restrict it with 2008}>>>Drag the respected Key figure.
So u will get the values 2008 in seperate column.
COpy the New Selecten that u created and paste on the structure , chage the descriprion and year to 2009.
do the same for 2010.
Note:you can also achieve this by creating variable offsets.Check the following link

How to get a value from a column inside a table

Hi,
I have got the following problem. I have got a table with some data inside. And a new column, which is not in the dataprovider. Now i search for an opportunity to go through the rows of the table and check the value of this column. I cant do this with the dataprovider or the rowset. My question is now how can i do this? The table object doesnt seem to have a corresponding method.

Display values for logical columns with several physical sources

Hi all,
I'm enocuntering some strange behaviour with the values displayed for a column (when we want to add it a as a filter, and in the dialogue box select 'Show All' values).
Basically the logical column is mapped against several physical columns as the base fact table is aggregated to different levels. Additionally, one column in the fact tables has an attribute value, and these vary between the aggregated and non-aggregated table. This is not a problem.
In the production environment, when we display the all values in the filters prompt for this column we are seeing the values being taken from one fact table. Naturally this means that not all the values possible for this column are being shown (i.e. values from the aggregated fact tables are missing). Now in one of our test environment where those fact tabels have additional data loaded, the values are being taken from one of the other fact tables. Unfortunately it is not necessarily the fact table with less data.
My questions are:
a) What dictates which fact table the server will use when the query in Answers doesnt use any dimensions (i.e. we are selecting just this attribute and selecting all the possible values by which it can be filtered)?
b) Is there a way of obtaining all the values from the differente physical columns? I.e. that the display values shows the values of that logical column across all the physical fact tables? Maybe we would need to model that attribute as a logical dimension just for that attribute? Im not really sure this would work, as at the physical level the join between the dimension and fact would still have to go to only one particular fact table.
Any info or help is much appreciated.

Aggregate tables exist at physical level and are created by ETL procedures. Although i am aware that the dimension come into play when the application needs to decide which source aggregate table to use, it is not an issue here as in our query we are not involving dimensions. We are selecting just this one columen, and then the filter option on this column, then in the dialogue box we select 'All Choices', only the values from one of the source tables is being shown.
This is not a probelm within reports, i think it is a product limitation in that in that option to list all values a user can filter by, it is not possible to display all the values from the different fact tables to which that column is mapped.
Has anyone else encountered this behaviour?

Hi,
Because of the default windowing, it's simpler to use FIRST_VALUE (with the order reversed) than LAST_VALUE.
For example:
SELECT       name, no, no2

When you use LAST_VALUE (or FIRST_VALUE) you must use an analytic ORDER BY clause. "First" and "last" simply don't make any sense without some kind of ordering.
When you use an analytic ORDER BY clause, you are always windowing.
If you don't specify a windowing clause, it defauts to RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW. That's a very useful default for most analytic functions (including FIRST_VALUE), but it's not so good for LAST_VALUE, because the value from the current row is always the last one. To use LAST_VALUE, you'd have to do something like this:

,       LAST_VALUE (no2) OVER ( PARTITION BY name
                                   ORDER BY       no
                       ,            no2
                       RANGE BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING

...When you use curly brackets for the \ tags on this site, the closing tag is exactly the same as the opening tag. Don't put any kind of slash before the keyword.

I am working on hierarchical alv tree and using class "cl_gui_alv_tree"
CALL METHOD g_alv_tree->update_calculations is providing subtotal
I want to get subtotal value for different node(based on node key) and different column
i am using following method
CALL METHOD g_alv_tree->GET_OUTTAB_LINE(if I am passing pamater "node key" it is returning column name with '0' value,not exact subtotal value)

If this value is cuming from the Query then u can easily go for MAX function. If its a user enterable value then u need to iterate through all the rows for that column to find the max of them.

Is it possible to in one single SQL statement update two columns in a table while at the same time obtaining the value of another column, on the same row, in the same table, and independently (that is, the update of the columns has nothing to do with the data that I want from another column)*?* Of course, I can do this in two operations, one being a "select" and the other one being an "update", but since I am in the same table and even on the same row, is it really necessary to make TWO database calls? That's why I want to combine the the two SQL-statements, for reasons of presumed effiency.

At least not in terms of SQL.
JDBC requires a 'statement' but in SQL (depending on the data source) that can include multiple statements. An obvious example of this is a stored proc but there are other ways as well.

Select Statement to Get Unique values in a Column

How to get all returned values in rows in a column.
e.g., a query gives output as :

all in different rows. But i want the result like this:
123,234,233,12121.All in a single row and a single column .
How is this possible ?

P PrakashThere's no need to use PL/SQL when SQL provides adequate functionality to do it.
The title of the thread is misleading as turning rows into columns is called pivoting, but the description of the issue wanting to join all the rows together into a single column, is actually called string aggregation.
As already demonstrated it can be done several ways.
1. with XML functionality
2. using the SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH method
and if you have 11gR2, there's...
3. the new LISTAGG analytical function.
There is also an undocumented WMSYS.WM_CONCAT function, though this isn't as flexible as other methods in that you can't control the order of the aggregated data so easily, and using such undocumented functions in production code is dangerous, as the functionality could change in future versions of Oracle, as well as it's use making your code such that Oracle will not provide support if the code with issue is using it.
