Get object target id in a workflow

When using the PowerShell activity (NOT the PowerShell Workflow Activity) in a workflow, how can I get an object ID?
I.e. with PowerShellWorkflowActivity you can use $fimwf.targetID but how can I do that in a normal Powershell activity?
Thanks,
JD

Hi JD,
What kind of Powershell Activity do you use?
The way to get ObjectID (of the target) is coded in the PowerShell Workflow Activity. So, if it's not present in your activity, I'm afraid that you have to find another way...

Sylvain

    Hi Felaray,
    I have a similar issue and what I tried to do is to install JSON.NET in my project and used the "Assign" activity (under "Primitives" category on the toolbox) to assign the string to an object:
    Newtonsoft
    .Json.JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(resultFromCustomActivity)
    but unfortunately did not work. I am getting this exception:
    Visual Studio 2013 Workflow: Failed to translate expression because of the following error: Translating the method or one of its overloads to an activity is not supported
    If you cannot really change the source header, you might need to create a code custom activity and pass in your string and use JSON.NET, parse it and return what you want.
    Another "easier" option might involve doing some nasty parsing (using the Assign Activity) by finding the index of your "RntCode:" and getting the next set of characters before the comma. Since the .NET classes to utilize are limited
    it would be worth trying to use a RegEx
    resultFromCustomActivity
    .Substring(0,
    10)

  • OBIEE Best Practice Data Model/Repository Design for Objectives/Targets

    Hello World!
    We are faced with a design question that has become somewhat difficult and we need some help. We want to be able to compare side-by-side actual measures with their corresponding objectives/targets. Sounds simple. But, our objectives are static (not able to be aggregated) with multi-dimensionality and multi-levels. We need some best practice tips on how to design our data model and repository properly so that we can see the objective/target for a measure regardless of the dimensions that are used in the criteria and regardless of the level.
    Here is some more details:
    Example of existing objective table.

    - Right now we have quarterly objectives set using 3 different dimensions. So, if an author were to add one or more (or zero) dimensions to their criteria for a given measure they could get back a different objective. They could add Dimension1 and get 99%. They could add Dimension1 and Dimension2 and get 98%. They could add all three dimensions and get 97%. They could add zero dimensions (highest grain) and get 99%. Using our existing structure if we were to add a new dimension to the mix the possible combinations would grow dramatically. (Not flexible)
    - We would like our final solution to be flexible enough so that we could view objectives with altogether different dimensions and possibly get different objectives.
    - We currently have 3 fact tables with 3+ conformed dimension tables and a few unique dimension tables.
    Could anyone share a similar situation where you have implemented a data model structure with the proper repository joins to handle showing side-by-side objectives/targets where the objectives were static and could be displayed at differing levels with flexible dimensions as described?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hi..yes this suggestion is nice...first configure the sensors(activity or variable) ..then configure the sensor action as a JMS Topic which will in turn insert the data into a DB..Or when u configure the sensor action as a DB..then the data goes to Oracle Reports schema..if there is any chance of altering the DB..i mean if there is any chance by changing config files so that the data doesnt go to that Reports schema and goes to a custom schema created by any User....i dont know if it can b done...my problem is wen i m configuring the jms Topic for sensor actions..i see blank data coming..for sm reason or the other the data is not getting posted ...i have used a esb ..a routing service based on the schema which i am monitoring...can any1 help?

  • Nulls from HashMap.get(Object)

    I understand that I get the nulls because the Object is not in the map. But is there some elegant way to have it default to the empty String?
    Right now, after I grab all my data into variable with HashMap.get(Object), I go and check each once for null, and assign it the empty String instead. This is a lot of lines of code for something that is so basic.
    I know i could initialize them all to the empty string, and then for each variable, check the HashMap with containsKey(Object) before assigning with HashMap.get(Object). Now, would I be correct in assuming the compiler would optimize this for me and not actually check the HashMap twice for the same Object? And... even if that is the case, its still just as many lines of code.
    Is there perhaps some more elegant way?
    String exchange = parameterMap.get("exchange");
    String messageType = parameterMap.get("messagetype");
    String traderTimeStamp = parameterMap.get("traderTimeStamp");
    String exchangeTimeStamp = parameterMap.get("exchangeTimeStamp");
    String sequence = parameterMap.get("sequence");
    String product = parameterMap.get("product");
    String quantity = parameterMap.get("quantity");
    String price = parameterMap.get("price");
    if (exchange == null)
    exchange = "";
    if (messageType == null)
    messageType = "";
    if (traderTimeStamp == null)
    traderTimeStamp = "";
    if (exchangeTimeStamp == null)
    exchangeTimeStamp = "";
    if (sequence == null)
    sequence = "";
    if (product == null)
    product = "";
    if (quantity == null)
    quantity = "";
    if (price == null)
    price = "";

    You could first put "" for all potential keys.
    Or you could create a helper method
    public String nonNull(String s) {
      return (s != null) ? s : "";
    String exchange = nonNull(parameterMap.get("exchange"));

  • How to get object key before load data into form?

    I need to get object key (e.g. ItemCode in Item Master Data From ,docEntry in A/R Invoice From) to calculate and do something  before data is loaded into this form .
    I try to use SAPbouiCOM.BusinessObjectInfo.objectKey as in this code.
    Private Sub oApp_FormDataEvent(ByRef pVal As SAPbouiCOM.BusinessObjectInfo, ByRef BubbleEvent As Boolean) Handles oApp.FormDataEvent
           If pVal.FormTypeEx = "672" And pVal.BeforeAction = True And pVal.EventType = SAPbouiCOM.BoEventTypes.et_FORM_DATA_LOAD Then
                   oApp.MessageBox(pVal.ObjectKey)
           End If
    End Sub
    But this fields doesn't valid under this condition (form DI help file).
    - The property returns an empty value in the before notification of the Load action (et_FORM_DATA_LOAD) triggered by a Find operation.
    How can I get this value(key)?

    Janos
    I can't do a calculation after data is loaded because what I'm going to do is that if the opening entry match my condition , the system will not let that user see that entry (bubbleEvent = False).
    I think when formDataEvent is triggered B1 know which entry are going to load because before this event is triggered we did one of following ways
    1. choose from "choose from list windows"
    2. enter docEntry or itemCode or cardCode  and then press Find Button
    3. press "next/previous record button"
    4. press linked button (orange arrow)
    Choice 3 and 4 can be done by retrieve data from BusinessObjectInfo.objectKey (I've tested and it return entry key that is going to open correctly).
    but 1 and 2 can't (it return empty as I mention before).
    thanks

  • Given an alias created by the Finder, from the Unix prompt (e.g., in Terminal) how can I get the target of the alias?

    In my Finder windows I have numerous aliases that point mostly to other folders. When in the Terminal, these aliases present as regular files. How can I get the target of an alias so that I can perform some operation, e.g., "cd", on the target?

    This AppleScript demonstrates how to resolve the OS X alias and return a POSIX path for it
    set af to choose file
    tell application "Finder"
      if the kind of af is "alias" then
      set origFile to the POSIX path of ((original item of af) as text)

  • Sending my callable object as interactive form thru workflow for approval

    hai
            I have created a sales order form as per the requirement given by sales head.Also i ve created a role in portal and have deployed my application implementing the rfc s required. i need to send my callable object(component1) to the saleshead with approve and reject button where when he approves notification mail should be sent to the required persons and if he rejects it should come back to me.(order initiator).i need to complete this soon and i dont have any idea about _+sending my callable object as interactive form thru workflow+_ .plz guide me with the steps(step bye step process) to be followed which ll help me to complete this project.

    Can we know the reason why do you need to extract the Interactive Form from Workflow.When you are calling the workflow try to save the form in a shared folder and save the url of the shared folder in a field and try to acces it by using SAP Activity.You can create a button for that create an SAP activity and when you click on the button the Interactive Form can be opened.
    Iam not sure weather i have answered your question or not?

  • Bar chart get "Object required" error

    I create a bar char which group by Data Time filed, I uncheck "Continuous time Series", select "Use time groups" and select Hour(Quantity=2).
    Count another filed as chart values.
    View the report. If I insert a time which in an un-existed series, it will get "Object required" error.
    e.g: if there are time : 6:00, 4:00, when i insert a time 6:00, it works well, but if i insert a time 2:00, it get error

    Jeffrey,
    Did you manage to find a workaround for this? Or has it been confirmed as bug?
    Reason I ask is because I am facing the same problem, but with a line graph (also using time series). I am also using 11.1.12. I only get the error when the chart is receiving its first value i.e. the chart is in 'No Values' state, but then data is inserted into the Data Object, which will then update the View Object for the first time.
    After I click 'reprompt', everything is back to normal and the view object displays the correct output following the insertion of the data into the data object. Subsequent data in the data object is then correctly picked up and displayed. The problem seems to be the initial data values.

  • How to get event target?

    I've registered the following Hide event:
    app.notifiers.add("Hd  ", ...file path);
    Now, how can get object that triggered the event?  [app.active document.activeLayer]  only give me the 'selected' layer.  This obviously does not work in a scenario where the user hides a layer that is not selected.
    I would appreciate any help!

    Action Manager does not have direct access to objects in the Object Model. It has it's own classes and object. Sometimes there can be a more direct access than by name. If the event descriptor had the layer index or ID you could use that instead of the name.
    Sorry, when I threw this together for you I only tested hidding layers that were not the activeLayer. I don't think the reason the alert is empty is because the top layer was hidden. I think it's because the activeLayer was hidden so the actionReference is different.
    Try this( seems to work for me with both )
    try {
        if (arguments.length >= 2) {
        var desc = arguments[0];
        var event = arguments[1];
        // make sure it's the hide event
        if (event == charIDToTypeID('Hd  ')) {
            // get the list of what was hidden
            var list = desc.getList(charIDToTypeID('null'));
            // get the actionReferences from the list
            var ref = list.getReference(0);
            var psClass = ref.getDesiredClass();
            // make sure it was a layer that was hidded
            if(psClass == charIDToTypeID('Lyr ')){
                // check to see what is in the reference
                var dataEnum = ref.getForm();
                // should either be an enum if activeLayer
                if(dataEnum == ReferenceFormType.ENUMERATED) {
                        alert(app.activeDocument.activeLayer.name);
                }else{// or the layer name
                    alert(ref.getName());
    } catch (e) {
      alert( "Error: " + e + ":" + e.line );

  • I am getting object expected error in javascript for autocomplete function

    Hi,
    I want to search list items like autocomplete function using jquery.
    I added code in CEWP, but i am getting "Object expected" error. I have checked using alert
     $().SPServices({
        operation: "GetListItems",
        async: false,
    I think SPservices is not working.
    Please help me!!

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to search list items like autocomplete function using jquery.
    You can use the below code to get the Titles of the Announcements list as the values of the autocomplete function.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/SiteAssets/jquery-1.10.2.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/SiteAssets/jquery.SPServices-2014.01.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/SiteAssets/jquery-ui-1.10.4.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    window.onload = function() {
    window.setTimeout(readyCall, 1000);
    function readyCall(){
    var externalParties = [];
    $().SPServices({
    operation: "GetListItems",
    async: false,
    listName: "Announcements",
    CAMLViewFields: "<ViewFields><FieldRef Name='Title' /></ViewFields>",
    completefunc: function (xData, Status) {
    $(xData.responseXML).SPFilterNode("z:row").each(function() {
    externalParties.push($(this).attr("ows_Title"));
    $("input[id$='FormControl0_V1_I1_T1']").autocomplete({
    source: externalParties,
    minLength: 1
    </script>

    Do we have any native methods to get object instances which are alive ?
    Help appreciated.

    If you are looking for accessing objects that are eligible for GC but are not GC,than it should be very difficult.As Java does not give you memory access to its variables.
