"get specified text" - how to pipe its result to next action in my Automato

trying to understand Automator's "get specified text" action. It seems to ask a question in the middle of a workflow, to which you input the answer. I want to pipe its output to the next action, ie, ask the user for a text string to which a text stamp will be applied to a multi-page PDF. Similiar to what Adobe Acrobat Pro can do if you go Documents/Add/Watermark.
There must be a simpler way then to spring for $500 to get a text stamp (basically a script's authors name) as a large diagonal background across all pages of a script thats been turned into a pdf.
Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. Im going to attempt to provide this solution free to the Mac community, since I couldnt find one out there.

OK, that makes a little more sense.
The Watermark PDF Files action isn't going to do what you want - at least not without a little more work.
If you look at the Automator definition of that action it requires a list of files as its input. You can't pass in a piece of text to use as the watermark.
Therefore the 'Watermark PDF Files' action can follow the 'Get Selected Finder Items' (since that returns a list of files), but the watermark action requires the watermark be specified at build time - you can't add a dynamic watermark at runtime.
In addition to that, the watermark action requires an image file to be used as the watermark, not a piece of text.
The only Automator solution I can see to this would be to have one action that asks for text and generates a corresponding image file. This can then be used as the watermark file by the action. Off-hand, though, I can't see an easy Automator way to create an image file from an arbitrary piece of text...

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

                   // I need to know a title of the button (which was clicked)...
    }The output of the code is something like this:

    rolloverIcon=,rolloverSelectedIcon=,selectedIcon=,text=first,defaultCapable=true]
    I need this: "first" (from this part: "text=first" of the output above).
    Does anyone know how can I get the "text" field from the e.getSource() ?

    System.out.println( "hi!! " + ( (JButton) e.getSource() ).getText() );I think the problem is solved..If your need is to know the text of the button, yes.
    In a real-world application, no.
    In a RW application, a typical need is merely to know the "logical role" of the button (i.e., the button that validates the form, regardless of whether its text is "OK" or "Save", "Go",...). Text tends to vary much more than the structure of the UI over time.
    In this case you can get the source's name (+getName()+), which will be the name that you've set to the button at UI construction time. Or you can compare the source for equality with either button ( +if evt.getSource()==okButton) {...}+ ).
    All in all, I think the best solution is: don't use the same ActionListener for more than one action (+i.e.+ don't add the same ActionListener to all your buttons, which leads to a big if-then-else series in your actionPerformed() ).
    Eventually, if you're listening to a single button's actions, whose text change over time (e.g. "pause"/"resume" in a VCR bar), I still think it's a bad idea to rely on the text of the button - instead, this text corresponds to a logical state (resp. playing/paused), it is more maintainable to base your logic on the state - which is more resilient to the evolutions of the UI (e.g. if you happen to use 2 toggle buttons instead of one single play/pause button).

    The handle to the Step.Button1Label gets you the data, but there are several ways to get it into the actual report.
    The easiest is to use the reporttext.
    In a post expression, you can use something like
    Step.Result.ReportText = Evaluate("Step.Button" + Str(Step.Result.ButtonHit) +"Label")
    and then the default report generation will include it in the report. Otherwise, you need to get the text into the Resultlist by various means (check the user manual, or the TestStand II customisation course) and handle the report generation yourself inside of the appropriate sequence in the process model.

  • How to get the text field in the header for only first page of the report

    Hi,
    I am developing reports in BI Publisher Enterprise where i am facing problem i.e., i have to get some text field in header,for only first page in the result but it is displaying in all the other pages of the report in result.So,please if you have any idea of how to solve it, please reply.It is required as early as possible.
    Thanks in Advance

    Invalid path? What are you doing? Writing the report output to an invalid directory?
    Where are your terms and conditions? It would be very easy just to put them in a database table and select them in your report query.

  • How to get Long text in CJ20n

    Hi,
       I need to get the long text that we maintained in CJ20n tcode under long text at project level. I need to display the same in Script layout or report. I didnot find any table or functional module to get it. please help me out.
    regards,
    Chandra

    Hi
    Double click on the Long text, it will take you to Text editor
    from the Menu GOTO-> HEADER
    you will find the OBJECT,ID,OBJECTNAME and LANGUAGE parameters for that lang text which are to be passed to the READ_TEXT fun module
    for displaying it on report use the above fun module and fetch the text in IT_LINES internal table and write it on report output
    You can also see the doc of the read_text
    READ_TEXT
    READ_TEXT provides a text for the application program in the specified work areas.
    The function module reads the desired text from the text file, the text memory, or the archive. You must fully specify the text using OBJECT, NAME, ID, and LANGUAGE. An internal work area can hold only one text; therefore, generic specifications are not allowed with these options.
    After successful reading, the system places header information and text lines into the work areas specified with HEADER and LINES.
    If a reference text is used, SAPscript automatically processes the reference chain and provides the text lines found in the text at the end of the chain. If an error occurs, the system leaves the function module and triggers the exception REFERENCE_CHECK.
    Function call:
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_TEXT'

    Enter the text ID of the text module. Table TTXID contains the valid text IDs, depending on the text object.
    Reference field: THEAD-TDID
    LANGUAGE
    Enter the language key of the text module. The system accepts only languages that are defined in table T002.
    Reference field: THEAD-TDSPRAS
    ARCHIVE_HANDLE
    If you want to read the text from the archive, you must enter a handle here. The system uses it to access the archive. You can create the handle using the function module ACHIVE_OPEN_FOR_READ.
    The value '0' indicates that you do not want to read the text from the archive.
    Reference field: SY-TABIX

    The table contains all text lines that belong to the text read.
    Structure: TLINE
    Exceptions:
    ID
    The text ID specified in the parameter ID does not exist in table TTXID. It must be defined there together with the object of the text module.
    LANGUAGE
    The parameter LANGUAGE contains a language key that does not exist in table T002.
    NAME
    The parameter NAME contains the name of a text module that does not correspond to the SAPscript conventions.
    Possible errors:
    The field contains only blanks.
    The field contains the invalid characters ‘*’ or ‘,’.
    OBJECT
    The parameter OBJECT contains the name of a text object that does not exist in table TTXOB.
    NOT_FOUND
    The system did not find the specified text module.
    REFERENCE_CHECK
    The text module to be read has no text lines of its own but refers to the lines of another text module. This reference chain can include several levels. For the current text, the chain is interrupted, that is, one of the text modules referred to in the chain no longer exists.
    WRONG_ACCESS_ TO_ARCHIVE
    The exception WRONG_ACCESS_TO_ARCHIVE is triggered if an archive is accessed using an incorrect or non-existing archive handle or an incorrect mode (that is, read if the archive is open for writing or vice versa).
    IN SCRIPTS you can use the INCLUDE statement to print the Long texts

  • How do I get Oracle Text to index files on a file server?

    I am new to Oracle (I'm a MS-SQL DBA looking for a Full-Text Search solution that is better than linking to a MS index server.)
    So - Here's the objective:
    I have Oracle Server(Express) installed on a Windows server.
    I would like for Oracle to build a Full-Text Catalog of the files on a separate file server based on file paths in a table in the database.
    (No desire to store terabytes of images and documents inside the database)
    I can get Oracle text up and running, using the URL_Datastore:
    CREATE TABLE files (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, issue_id NUMBER, path VARCHAR(255) UNIQUE, ot_format VARCHAR(6), ot_version VARCHAR(10));
    The Compaq server is a remote windows server on my local workgroup, so the fully qualified path is just "compaq" and the URL is valid:
    INSERT INTO files VALUES (9,9,'file://Compaq/FTQ/00000003.pdf',NULL,NULL);
    INSERT INTO files VALUES (13,13,'file://Compaq/FTQ/01.txt',NULL,NULL);
    CREATE INDEX file_index ON files(path) INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.context
    PARAMETERS ('datastore ctxsys.URL_DATASTORE format column ot_format');
    but when I enter:
    Select * from CTX_User_Index_errors, I see the following errors:
    DRG-11609: URL store: unable to open local file specified by file://Compaq/FTQ/00000003.pdf
    DRG-11609: URL store: unable to open local file specified by file://Compaq/FTQ/01.txt
    Did I miss something?
    Do I need to install anything on the file server?
    I would like to convince my company that Oracle can be much quicker than Microsoft's Indexing Service because it can avoid joining two large result sets (one result set from Full_text (indexing service) and one for specific data contained in fields in the MS-SQL database.) Full Text Searches commonly take 40 - 60 seconds where there are 1.5 million multi-page PDF files for a particular set that I sample search on. Without this massive join, I believe I can get the search to run in under 10 seconds.

    Thank you!
    File_Datastore worked fine.
    I was staying away from File_Datastore because the information I gathered from googling suggested that file_datastore would only work locally.
    Now I just have to get Oracle to pull data out of tables in a MS-SQL database on the local network (don't have a clue yet), and then have it index compiled file paths.
    Then MS-SQL can query Oracle with index and full-text criteria and Oracle can send back a result set
    It may sound like a bad way of performing Full-Text Queries, but anything will be better than the way things are currently running. We are currently performing Full Text Searches on a table that is rebuilt nightly, so the table containing millions of file paths is not live..
    It would be so much better if we just migrated to Oracle, but we currently do not have the resources.

  • How to get the current node element by its value?

    e.g,:
    wdContext.current<b>Deal</b>Element().setAttributeValue("<i>deal_id</i>","<i>aaaaaaa</i>");
    above code can get the result i wanna.
    but now i wanna in terms of its node'name to  set attribute vaue of itself. in other words,i have no idea about how to get the current node element by its name"<b>Deal</b>".

    Hi Wing,
    The answer is there in your question itself.
    wdContext.currentDealElement()
    will give you the current node element by its name"Deal" or you could use
    wdContext.nodeDeal().getCurrentElement()
    or you could use
    wdContext.nodeDeal().getElementAt(wdContext.nodeDeal().getLeadSelection())

    How can I copy test plan WITH ITS RESULTS (PASS/FAIL) to other project in MTM??

    Hi odedn,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    Based on your issue, you mean that you want to copy the test plan with test results from the current team project
    to other team project, am I right?
    If yes, as far as I know that when we copy test plan with test results to other team proejcts. It is default that
    there just will not copy the test plan with test results (pass/fail) to other team project in MTM.
    You can refer the following MSDN document’s
    what gets cloned, it explained that which objects are copied from the source test plan to the destination test plan.

    You need to closely analyse the graphics and what they are doing..then make a study of the tool ( After Effects) to see how its achieved.  Understand these are multiple components that are composited together.
    Its pretty fundamental ( and actually rather simple once you know) but has a learning curve that involves some effort on your part. Time, time, time...
    Start with the basic tutorials for AEFX and its all there...
    (Some one will post up the Basic Tutorials Link soon).

  • How do I get more text options in photoshop??

    How do I get more text options in Photoshop?  I have the basic package, but I would like more script options.
    Thank you,
       Maureen

    I don't suppose you have a full CC subscription?  It comes with a feature called Typekit which I love. Along with an ever increasing range of top quality fonts, it has the best font manager I have used, and excellent search facility.
    The web is full of additional font sites like dafont
    http://www.dafont.com/
    Otherweise, Google is your friend
    If you want Text Effects then Google will help you out there as well
