Get the current value of a managed bean.

Hi guys
I have a register page which takes the Login ID and the password and retype password whose values are stored in the "Managed Beans" in registerServer.java.
I have a (PwdValidator.java) Custom validator for Re-type Password which validates itself against the password.
Now my problem is from the PwdValidator.java how can I access the value of the password which is stored in the managed bean in registerServer.java.
here is a copy of my faces-config.xml
     <managed-bean>
          <managed-bean-name>registerServer</managed-bean-name>
          <managed-bean-class>com.sun.registerServer</managed-bean-class>
          <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
     </managed-bean>
Help is really appreciated,
Thanks,
Chaprasi Baba

Thanks for the reply but my question is how do I get
the password value from the managed bean
FacesContext context =
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
Application application = context.getApplication();
CountryValueObject registerServer =
(CountryValueObject)application.getVariableResolver().r
solveVariable(context, "registerServer");
String pwd = registerServer.password // So will this
give me the current value for that session.You didn't go far enough in replacing the example code . Try this:
FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
Application application = context.getApplication();
RegisterServer registerServer = (RegisterServer)application.getVariableResolver().resolveVariable(context, "registerServer");
String pwd = registerServer.password // So will this give me the current value for that session.

  • Get the current session in a Session Bean?

    Hi,
    I know how to get the current session from a Servlet, you use request.getSession().
    However I need access to the current session from a Session Bean. As far as I know, only Servlets have a request object, so I can't use request.getSession()
    Any ideas on how to access the session from a Session Bean?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I managed to get around the problem by using a JSP to
    pass a session object to a method in my session bean.
    ThanksJust be aware that the serialized Session object can be a huge stream to remotely pass to your bean...

    >
    Values set using JavaScript are present only in HTML DOM, not in the session state. To set the value in session state you need to use PL/SQL.
    Exact implementation will depend on how you navigate to the second page, by doing a submit or something else.

  • How to read the current value of hyperlink java bean in multiple record,

    I have used a java bean for a multi-record block item. On When-new form-instance I m using fbean package as follows
    FBean.Register_Bean(hHyperlink,1,'oracle.forms.demos.beans.Hyperlink');
    FBean.Invoke(hHyperlink,1,'setURL','Abc_Entry');
    FBean.Invoke(hHyperlink,1,'setLabel','Abc Document');
    FBean.Enable_Event(hHyperlink,1,'actionListener',true);
    You can see that I am using the number 1 which is hardcoded,for which I will replace with a incremental loop and remove it. Now when I m using the When-Custom-Item-Event, I want to read the URL for the current instance.
    I m using
    vcEventData := Fbean.Invoke_Char('CONTROL.HYPERLINK',2,'getURL');
    to get the second record value , where in I want to avoid the hardcoded 2 or 1

  • Problem in getting the current value of the drop down while calling value change listener

    I have 2 drop down list. I am trying to get the value of first drop down from other drop downs value change listener. Initially one drop down contains a default value. First time I got the value while calling the value change listener. But if I change the default value to other in the first drop down and call the value change listener of the second drop down then I got the old value in the bean. Can anyone suggest a process

    If I use the following code it gives me the current index.
                valueChangeEvent.getComponent().processUpdates(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance());
                System.out.println(valueChangeEvent.getNewValue());
    This is also giving me current index.
    BindingContainer container = BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    AttributeBinding attrIdBinding = (AttributeBinding)container.getControlBinding("PersonTypeId1");
    if(attrIdBinding.getInputValue()!=null)
                   System.out.println(attrIdBinding.getInputValue().toString());
    But at last I got some help from Shay Shmeltzer's Weblog.
    BindingContainer bindings =
                    BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
                    // Get the sepecific list binding
                    JUCtrlListBinding listBinding =
                    (JUCtrlListBinding)bindings.get("PersonTypeId1");
                    // Get the value which is currently selected
                    Object selectedValue = listBinding.getSelectedValue();
                      long value =0L;
                    if(selectedValue!=null){
                        System.out.println("Sudip.. Person Type using bindings"+selectedValue.toString());
    But this returns "ViewRow [oracle.jbo.Key[300000860721156 ]]"
    300000860721156 is the original value.. Would you please help me to figure it.

  • Getting the last action from a managed bean

    Is it possible to get the last action that was submitted from within a backing bean.
    I have an application that has a context specific menu at the top of the page. The context menu is generated using a backing bean which is called from a tiled jsp, called contextmenu.jsp.
    The context menu backing bean needs to know what page it is on so that it can generate the correct menu, so is it possible to get hold of the last action submitted, or the current page from within the backing bean?
    Any help would be much apprecieated.

    Thanks for your help,
    but ...
    We will be developing over 200 jsps and don't want to load the development effort with a backing bean for each jsp.
    The solution that I finally arrived at is using the following code in the menubean to get the view id, and make the decision based on that.
    public NavigationMenuItem[] getContextMenu()
         //Get view id
              String viewId = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot().getViewId();
              logger.debug("view id: " + viewId);
              //Menu
              NavigationMenuItem[] contextMenu = null;
              if(viewId.equals("/home.jsp"))

  • How to get iterator values from a managed bean ?

    Due to a bug in selectOneChoice i'm not able to get the label list i want to display directly from an iterator when the value binding is a managed bean.
    To solve the problem i would like to create a managed bean that contains that list and use it as the selectItems to display.
    I would like that the values in that managed bean loaded from the a data control iterator.
    My question is :
    1) is it possible to access the iterator values from a managed bean, i mean without any reference to a page definition
    2) how to do ? is it documented somewhere ? any example ?

  • JTable problem : how to get the last value entered by user + event lost

    Hi all,
    I have 2 problems with Jtable class.
    1 => To get the last value entered by user in a cell,
    it seems that we must change the selected cell.
    That is to say we can only have the previous cell's value.
    Is there a simple way to get the current value of any cell ?
    2 => To resolve the problem i store the values of each cell in a vector and i intercept keyboard event (!)
    BUT, when i do a double click with the mouse on the Jtable, i loose keyboard events. Then, i can't intercept them.
    Is it a bug of swing or am i following a wrong way ?
    Thanks by anticipation for your help.

    You have to fire the "TableCellUpdatedEvent"
    and override the getCellEditorValue in TableCellEditor to return the current value

  • How to get the current selected value of a combo box or a option button?

    Hello All,
    I want to catch the current selected value of a combo box and also of a option button and want save it into different variables in my code. These option button and combo box are in a SAP business one form which I have created through VB dot.net coding.
    But I don't know how to do that, can any one send any example code for this.
    Regards,
    Sudeshna.

    Hi Sudesha,
    If you want to get the selected values you can do it as follows: The Combo Box value you can get from the combo box. If you want to get it on the change event, you must make sure that you check when BeforeAction = False. If you want to get an Option Button value you should check the value in the data source attached to the option button.
            Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form
            Dim oCombo As SAPbouiCOM.ComboBox
            Dim oData As SAPbouiCOM.UserDataSource
            oForm = oApplication.Forms.Item("MyForm")
            oCombo = oForm.Items.Item("myComboUID")
            oApplication.MessageBox(oCombo.Selected.Value)
            oData = oForm.DataSources.UserDataSources.Item("MyDataSourceName")
            oApplication.MessageBox(oData.ValueEx)
    Hope it helps,
    Adele

  • How to get the selected value in SelectOneMenu in backing bean

    Hello all,
    I need your help. I want to have 2 select menus with the second menu's items list are populated based on the selection in the first menu. I don't know how to get the selected value in the backing bean so that I can based on that select menu to populate the second menu's item list. Basically I need to access to the UI Component of the first select Menu and retrieve its selected value.
    Could you help me out?
    Thank you very much in advance,
    Lngo

    Hi Lingo,
    There r two ways of getting the values into the list. First one is hardcoding the values and the second one is use the list and get the values into the list by firing a query in the database.
    Inorder to display the values in the second menu based on the first onces selection we need to add an attribute to the first selectonemenu known as valueChangeListener and we need to sumit the page.
    Here is the sample code
    <h:selectOneMenu id="catalogue"
                                  binding="#{urbean.catalogue}" onchange="submit()"
                                  valueChangeListener="#{urbean.categoryValueChange}"
                                  <f:selectItem itemLabel="Select Catalogue" itemValue="" />
                                  <f:selectItems value="#{urbean.catalogueList}" />
    </h:selectOneMenu>
    <h:selectOneMenu id="category"
                                  binding="#{urbean.category}">     <f:selectItem itemLabel="Select Category" itemValue="" />
                                  <f:selectItems value="#{urbean.categoryList}" />
                                  <                         </h:selectOneMenu>
    now in method called by valuechangelistener we need to write the similar code
    public void categoryValueChange(ValueChangeEvent event) {
    String rfnum = (String) event.getNewValue();
    List categoryList = new ArrayList();
    List tempList = new TablenameDAO().getActiveCatByCatalogueID(rfnum);
              for (int i = 0; i < tempList.size(); i++) {
                   Tablename tablename = (Tablename ) tempList.get(i);
                   String value = "" + tablename .getrfnum();
    String label = tablename .getname();
         if (label == null) {
                   label = "";
                   SelectItem item = new SelectItem(value, label);
                   categoryList.add(item);
              bean.setCategoryList(categoryList);
    ///getActiveCatByCatalogueID (rfnum) should bring the records which r based on the rfnum
    if u follow this process i am damsure that u will get the values in to the secondlist based upon the first list
    Thanks & Regards

  • How to get the current zoom value in ID?

    Is there any way that can get the current zoom value in InDesign?
    Thanks a lot.

    You could peek at the widget indicated in your screen shot, at least when that MDI (?) frame is showing.
    The window title at kLayoutPresentationBoss, IID_IDOCUMENTPRESENTATION also reflects the value.
    Probably best would be the kLayoutWidgetBoss, with its IID_IPANORAMA, GetXScaleFactor() - and GetYScaleFactor()!!!
    I just try to imagine how a document would look if these differ from each other ;-) and, even better, how to achieve that from the UI.
    Btw, one notification is on kDocWorkspaceBoss, protocol IID_IWINDOW, command kUpdateDocumentUIStateCmdBoss.
    Another one: there is a kDocWindowTitleModifyService ...
    Edit: of course I should again mention IID_IPANORAMA, observable from kLayoutWidgetBoss subject.
