GetElementById from parent works for Firefox not for IE
I am trying to access an element in my Edge Animate animation (which is a menu bar) from the parent document. The element has an onClick event which is triggered depending on the #bookmark in the URL of the parent web page. My code works perfectly in Firefox but does not work in Internet Explorer(10). IE is unable to see any elements within the 'Stage' div whereas Firefox can.
This is the JavaScript code on my parent page: -
<script language='javascript'>
var thisPage = window.location.pathname;
var fullurl = document.URL;
var xxx = fullurl.substring(fullurl.indexOf('#'));
var pageString = xxx.replace("#", "");
pageString = pageString.replace("http://www.mydomain.com/portfolio/photography.html", "");
if (pageString == "corporate") {
window.onload = function() {
var iframe = document.getElementById('U10511_animation');
var innerDoc = (iframe.contentDocument) ? iframe.contentDocument : iframe.contentWindow.document;
var corporateRectangle = innerDoc.getElementById('Stage_Corporate_Rectangle');
corporateRectangle.click();
</script>
The above code will select the Corporate tab in the menu when viewed in Firefox but not IE when the URL has the suffix #corporate.
When I insert an 'alert' for the variable 'corporateRectangle' in Firefox it returns [HTMLObj] and in IE it returns 'null'.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks.
The issue was that the menu animation has a preloader. Firefox ignores the preloader whereas IE treats the preloader as onLoad being complete. Therefore the attempt to access the element ID is null as it hasn't been loaded yet.
I decided to approach the problem from a different tack and read my bookmark from within the animation. This turned out to be a very simple solution once I figured out that I had to put the code in the first frame of the animation NOT in creationComplete or compositionReady.
This was the code: -
var bookmark = parent.window.location.hash;
bookmark = bookmark.replace("#", "");
if (bookmark == "corporate") {
sym.play("corp");
yes, as simple as that.

Set file filters in flex for save, not for browse
How can i set file filters in flex for save, not for browse?
Right now i am using filereferce class for saving purpose but i could
not able to set filter. We can easily do it for browse.You can try to delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/mimeTypes.rdf mimeTypes.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions#Resetting_download_actions
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See:
* [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Error (-45054) for WINDOWS not for a mac
For the past three days i have been trying to download app updates via the iTunes WINDOWS software program without success due to the error -45054. I have done many a search but can only find answers on how to fix the problem on mac computers. I am running windows 8 (yes i know it ***** you don't have to tell me)
There are a total of two users on the computer in question. However the error only occurs in the account of one of the two users. User #1 has no problems whatsoever and is a administrator. User #2, also listed as a administrator always gets the -45054 error.
Files are all set as shared with everyone with full control.
i have tried to remove iTunes and reinstall but still no help. Any suggestions are appreciated as long as they are for WINDOWS not for macI tried submitting this same problem as a feature request and/or bug report.
Unfortunately, and somewhat disconcertingly, the Captivate Bug Report form also doesn't work. No matter how thoroughly I entered my request, I got these error messages:

Infotype only for pa40, not for pa20/30 ???
Hello,
How to set an infotype to be available only for pa40, not for pa20/pa30?
J can programm it in PBO and check the transaction code, but I look for another solution, maybe in spro.
Regards,
PiotrHi.
I have got a doubt after reading ur question.
PA40 is for Personnel Actions.
PA30 is to maintain master data.
PA20 is to display master data.
so is it possible to set infotypes only for PA 40, and not for PA30/20 -

-1 Minus One for Firefox not working
I recently switched back to Firefox from Chrome and tried to download the -1 extension for Google+ from [http://gminus.nolofone.com/en here]. However, while it worked fine on Chrome, it doesn't seem to be working on Firefox, and I can't figure out why.
By the way, I understand that since Mozilla didn't create this extension, I technically shouldn't be posting my problem here, but I couldn't find a way to contact the makers of the extension. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!I'm not sure exactly what isn't working, but the developer of this add-on specified that it works up with a range of versions from Firefox 3.0 to Firefox 1337.* -- that fictitious maxVersion is no longer legal. The highest allowed maxVersion's at the moment are 14.* and 15.0a1 (versions in early testing).
You could "unzip" the extension and edit install.rdf to fix that, or contact the author and see whether he will do it. It is a hassle only being able to package the add-on for up to 3 new versions, but in many cases, even if he falls behind in updating the maxVersion the add-on will still work in new versions of Firefox.

Flash video has not worked with Firefox browser for years. When will you fix this?
Anyone who uses Firefox browser (for Windows or for Mac) knows that flash video playback ceased working sometime around Firefox ver 13 and has not worked since.
The Mozilla people say it is Adobe's fault - instead of fixing Firefox.
They say roll back to Adobe Flash version 10.
This solves the video problem, but then, any other services that depend on the latest Flash build, quit working properly.
This situation leaves millions of Firefox users in perpetual frustration. We can't use our browser of choice to view any web video built with Flash.
This is so unacceptable. I am unable to understand why Adobe and Firefox don't get together and iron out whatever code incompatibility is causing this.
I would really like to hear Adobe's explanation for this.proteus-editorial wrote:

Uh... I don't know what planet you posted this from, but Flash video has worked flawlessly with Firefox for hundreds of millions of users here on earth, without any gaps since Firefox was still called Mozilla.
For the record, I have Firefox 28 with Flash Player 13 installed on:
WIndows XP (SP3-64bit)
Windows Vista Ultimate (SP2-64bit)
Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1-64bit)
Windows 8 Enterprise (64bit-2 machines)
Windows 8.1 Enterprise (64 bit)
OS 0.6.8 Server
OS10.7.5
OS10.8.5
OS10.9.2
And I've had Firefox with Flash Player since 2003 on both OS formats. I've never had a compatibility problem.
I also use Chrome, IE, Opera, Safari and a few other browsers you probably never heard of (like SeaMonkey, Maxthon, Waterfox, iCab, OmniWeb)... Flash works in all of them.
I'd have to say the problem is with your system specifically, because if it was a Firefox/Flash compatibility problem, there would have been hundreds of millions of complaints about it, for over a decade. That... just isn't the case. -
Spry Menu bar 2.0 from Widget Browser only works in Firefox, not other browsers
Hello,
I have downloaded and customized the Spry Menu Bar 2.0 from Adobe Widget Browser.
I have made a seemingly functionable horizonatl navigation bar that will be displayed on all of my website's pages.
While in live view in Dreamweaver and when I preview the page in FireFox the entire navigation bar works and displays perfectly.
However, when I preview the page in another browser, like Safari, the navation does not display and shows up as an ordered list. I have tried a couple of fixes with no success. I have also spent some time searching the forums for an asnwer, but more commonly I find that people have problems with the spry menu functioning in Firefox while I have the exact opposite problem.
Please help! I'm to have this website completed by the end of next week!
Thank you!!Hi John,
Thanks, however, my site is still only on my local computer and not live or on a testing server yet. I could copy and paste my code in, I thought that may be cumbersome, but here goes :

/* Settable values for skinning a Basic menu via presets. If presets are not sufficient, most skinning should be done in
these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
.MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered - - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

/* IE6 rules - you can delete these if you do not want to support IE6 */
/* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
* Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
* giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
* Unfortunately IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores
* all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this
* problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'.
* Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class
* syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where
* it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden.
* So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule. We follow this with the single-class rule that it would
* mistakenly override, making sure the misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins.
* We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for
* the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the
* css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support.
* If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
* The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the necessity of IE conditional comments for these rules.

Directed by Rainer Beckmann, the Pennsylvania Academy of Music's Early Music Program provides opportunities for students to learn more about historical performance practice. The program's current activities focus on the school's Early Music Ensemble, made up of enthusiastic amateur musicians performing on recorders and violas da gamba. The recent donation of a two-manual harpsichord will allow the program to include special Baroque ensemble lessons in the near future. In addition, individual Academy students will have the possibility to be accompanied on an instrument regularly used in music of the 17th and 18th centuries. The class meets 1 hour per week.

The Shockwave for Director plugin is no longer working in Firefox 7 for mac
Dear Firefox,
I run a website which uses Adobe's Shockwave for Director plugin to view an animation. This plugin worked perfectly in Firefox for mac, up until Firefox 7. Firefox now sees it only as an unknown added plugin and the animation can no longer open. I have the latest plugin version installed from Adobe, which works fine in Firefox 7 for windows, in Safari (mac, win) and Internet Explorer (win). The Flash plugin is also working fine.
In the preference panel, I have allowed Adobe to install plugins. Do I need to change other settings? Is something stopping Firefox for mac from properly loading the plugin?
Many thanks for your help.Have you tried this one?

Hi all,
I'm having some problems with the page.place(...) command on InDesign CS3 Server.
When I try to place a PDF on a page, it works perfectly. I can see the PDF on the document.
But when try to place a snippet file, it gives me a very strange result.
There is a frame on the document where the snippet should be placed, but it doesn't contain anything. You also cannot see it unless you select it.
I can move the frame around, but not resize it.
But when I copy and paste this frame, the newly copied frame does contain the contents from my snippet.
When I try this on my desktop version it works correct, but not on the server.
Here's the code I use:
//set measurement to pt, just to be sure
myDoc.viewPreferences.horizontalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.POINTS;
myDoc.viewPreferences.verticalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.POINTS;
//place the snippet on the last page
myDoc.pages.lastItem().place(new File("c:/mySnippet.inds"), [170, 400]);
I managed to solve this by using the PDF place instead of snippet, but at a later stage I will have to use snippets, so it would be great to know what I'm doing wrong.
Regards,
DanyHmm it seems that the snippet is placed on the first page, but for some reason, the coordinates are so wrong that it ends up on one of the following pages. that's wy I cannot select it.
I attached the document, it's hard to explain.
You can see two pages, all seem empty at first sight.
When you click on the first page and do a ctrl-a to select all items, you can see that there is an item selected on the second page.
Remarkable is that if I use the same code to place a pdf, the pdf is placed at the correct position on the second page.
Is there something wrong with the coordinates when placing snippets, or am I doing something wrong?
Dany
Edit: I can't seem to reproduce this problem with a blank indesign file, which will probably make it hard for anyone to find the problem.
Must be something else in the complete script that is causing this. -
Works for Cell, Not for Computer
My Gmail address works fine on Droid, but only partially on my Mac. On my cell I can send and receive. On my computer the Gmail only works on send, not on receive. Mail makes it clear that my outgoing message cannot be sent because a connection can not be made with my Gmail server (pop.gmail.com). None the less the email goes through to the intended recipient. Email initiated on my cell addressed to my Gmail address is only received on my cell. Connection Doctor says Outgoing server is connected, and that Incoming is not. Gmail address had previously worked on Mail. It stopped.
I have tried every nuance in the Mail Gmail settings, to no avail. It is impossible to get any guidance from Google, and from Apple Mail for that matter (from previous experience). Any ideas?Thanks for your thoughtful reply. No improvement. In addition to Gmail address, POP and Smtp addresses now show as unconnected in Connection Doctor.
Verizon set up my Gmail address on my cell, and the Gmail address appeared on my computer without my having to enter any information. Is Google Account password and Gmail password (necessarily, always) the same? How do I access my Gmail settings in Google account?
Would it be simpler for me just to go back to Verizon and have them set up a new Gmail address, cancel the original account and give me in writing all of the information? -
Where to find desk top icons for firefox, not short cuts, icons
I do not like the blue world desk top icon for Nightly and I would to use the other desk top icon with the fox curled inside the blue world. Please send me the icon, not the short cut. Thanks !
Sounds like a question for a Windows 7 support forum. I don't use Win7, but in WinXP if you right-click a desktop icon and open Properties, there is a button for '''Change Icon'''. As finitarry alluded to, you will need to come up with your own icon file of the correct size. Keep in mind that Nightly updates frequently, actually it updates '''''nightly''''', and you may find that you need to replace that icon every day. ''Speculation on my part, I have never wasted my time replacing a desktop shortcut icon for a program that updated frequently. And if you spent any time searching for how to do that specifically for Firefox, anything you might have found about fiddling Firefox program files or the Firefox Profile folder hasn't worked since the Firefox 3.0 version.''

I need to view the click data via my Omniture account. To do this I need to install the ClickMap plugin. It works on V4 but when I upgraded to V5 I now get an error saying the plugin cannot be installed.
If ClickMap is an '''extension''', as opposed to a '''plugin''', you have another option.
When Firefox disables an extension, it usually is because it includes a list of compatible Firefox versions and it hasn't yet been updated for Firefox 5. If it worked on Firefox 4, there is a good chance it will work on Firefox 5, but no guarantee.
You can force Firefox to ''ignore'' add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the extensions important to you actually work in Firefox 5.
[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Add-on Compatibility Reporter :: Add-ons for Firefox]
After you install this add-on and restart Firefox, there will still be a message that "--- is incompatible with Firefox 5.0" but the add-on will be enabled and a Disable button will appear for that entry. -
$LS_COLORS stopped working (for user, not for root)
Good day.
Some time ago, "ls" stopped paying attention to my color settings when coloring output for my user, while still working for root. For both root and my user, I set $LS_COLORS through ~/.bashrc as "eval $(dircolors -b)" but while this works fine for root, it at some point stopped working for my user, simply since the "eval" doesn't seem to work anymore. That is, what could be the reason for the below behavior?
(note: I also have colored ls output without $LS_COLORS; just not the colors that I want, and which root does have).
