GetSelectedIndex() to return position selected, not first instance?

Hi
I am having trouble getting the correct index from a JComboBox. My program's JComboBox stores duplicated entries.
When the getSelectedIndex() method is used, it returns the index of the FIRST instance of the object that was selected!!! instead of returning the index to the actual item selected by the mouse!!
* I need this labelIndex to be the index of the position selected!! not the
* first instance of the label in the list.
labelIndex = frame.labelsComboBox.getSelectedIndex();
Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Instead of putting Strings in your combobox, put some other kind of Object which has a toString() method which returns the string you want to show. Then when the JComboBox code calls the equals() method (I think) to see which index matches, it will only find the correct one.import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class Test2 extends JFrame {
  public Test2() {
    setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    Container content = getContentPane();
    MyObject[] stuff = { new MyObject("A"),new MyObject("B"), new MyObject("A")};
    JComboBox jcb = new JComboBox(stuff);
    content.add(jcb, BorderLayout.NORTH);
    jcb.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
        System.out.println(((JComboBox)ae.getSource()).getSelectedIndex());
    setSize(200,200);
  public static void main(String[] args) { new Test2().setVisible(true); }
class MyObject {
  String text;
  public MyObject(String text) { this.text=text; }
  public String toString() { return text; }
}This example uses the default Object equals() method which is actually ==. You can override equals() if you want.
I use this a lot to put any kind of object in a combo.

  • SPList.GetItems Method not returning any items at first instance

    Hello,
    I am trying to get one specific item from a Info Path library based on the Name field from code behind of Info-Path form at Form Loading event. Now when I try to run the query for the first time, it does not return any item however if I wait for let's say
    5 seconds(this is not fixed), take my debugger back to that line to execute the query again, it returns the item this item.
    Code and everything else looks fine as the same thing when tried with console app always return items. I understand the console app run's as Administrator.
    Considering it may be inconsistent issue due to permissions, I also changed my permission as Site Collection Administrator no change in behavior. The App Pool account is also having full permissions on list.
    I have seen below blog but without any in-depth detail of explain this behavior.
    http://thingsthatshouldbeeasy.blogspot.com/2009/09/getitems-list-query-returns-no-items.html#.VSLfKvnF_To
    Any thoughts or suggestions to workaround this issue?
    Since I know what item needs to be fetched, I just don't want to get all items and then loop through my items to get one specific item.
    Thanks, Rakesh

    Hi,
    Will the issue persist if query other list for a specific item?
    I suggest you show the complete code in use for a further research, it would make others easier to find out the root cause for you.

  • Can not user Raw value as NULL return in Select List

    Help me!
    I recently converted my application to take advantage of the sys_guid() function that oracle offers over the sequence/trigger option.
    However, I user a hierarchical set up and I need to be able to insert a RAW value of '00' if the user does not select something in a select list. When I try to do this, I get an "ORA-01465: invalid hex number" error.
    I've also tried to return 00 and HEXTORAW(0) but that didn't work either. Infact 00 return a can not insert null value. Please help as I believe the sys_guid function is the best choice if I can make it work.

    Hey Scott, my first name is Daniel.
    Here is in detail the reason for which I want to be able to work with RAW. As everyone knows, most of your tables your going to have a UID. In general this is going to be a NUMBER column into which you will insert values that populate from a trigger getting the nextval of a sequence and returning the result into the NUMBER column of the row being inserted.
    This, however, requires a trigger and a sequence. Not that that's really a bad thing, I just think it can be done better. All we are really after here is a UUID or GUID. The thing is if you used a sequence to generate this value, you don't have a good way of knowing that the number is truly unique. You'll learn this as soon as you try to merge with a table from another database or do something else of the like.
    What I prefer to do is to use Oracle's SYS_GUID function when I create a table. To use this function you create a RAW(16) DEFAULT SYS_GUID(). From that point you don't even need to reference the column on insert, unless you're inserting into * and in that case you just specify DEFAULT. The use of sys_guid means I don't need a trigger and I don't need a sequence, and the result will always be unique, regardless of the DB.
    In APEX, and elsewhere, the way you use a select list is with a display value and a return value. An example would be, emp_name as the display value and emp_id as the return value. In my case, the emp_id would be the RAW values returned by the SYS_GUID() function when the employee was created. But it's not working because of the RAW value.
    I know that APEX can enter the value in session state that is returned from a RAW column because I did a test earlier and it worked. I would have to see it in session state for debugging. *** The problem is in creating a new record. ***
    APEX really does not have to work with the RAW column because the default value has been specified. But for some reason, it does not like it anyway. I found this problem when working with parent/child relationships in my tables.
    Lets say there are three columns GUID, TITLE, and PARENT. When creating a new record, I allow the user to select its parent. If the new record IS a parent then they would leave it as the default '- Is Parent -' and the PARENT column would be left as NULL. But because the GUID is RAW to make the relationship work with the parent, the PARENT column would be RAW too and APEX gives me the errors I was telling you about before.
    Sorry for going on so long. I don't know if I even got my point across. ;) Please let me know if you need me to do something on my part to further demonstrate my point. I would be happy to set up a demo if requested.

  • Windows Phone 8.1 xaml, c# ComboBox does not display selection when first item is selected from full page list.

    I have 3 comboboxes on a xaml page and most of the time when I select the first item on the full page list displayed when the number of items are > 5, the screen returns to the combobox and the box is blank. The combobox.SelectedItem is valued but it
    does not display.  This does not happen every time and I have seen this using the emulator and my windows 8.1 phone.  If I select any other item in the list they always display but when I go back and select the first item the box is blank.
    Does anyone know what I could be doing that is causing this?

    Thanks for your help.  When I run the code below and the page is displayed, I select an item from the page list and it displays fine and then I select the first item from the page list and I do not see that selected item in the box.
    If I remove the SelectedIndex=0 it all works fine except I do not have an item selected for the initial display.  Below should show problem and should work copy/paste in universal blank app.

  • Compare two columns and match ALL recurring values, not just the first instance

    Hi everybody...
    I was looking for a way to compare values in two columns, identifying every duplicate value instance on a third column.
    Searching around the forums, I found a solution, albeit a partial one; I am using this formula: =IFERROR("Duplicate in row "&MATCH($A,$B,0),"") along column C, to compare values between columns A and B. When applied, the formula will render the first instance where there is a duplicate; unfortunately MATCH will only register the first instance of the duplicated values.
    For example:
    The first value on column A is 'Apple'. On column B there are three instances for the value 'Apple', the formula identifies the first of these values, but not the remaining two.
    I am not an advanced Numbers or Excel user, and the answer to this problem eludes me. I am attempting to compare columns that have no less than 1000 rows each, so you can imagine how, finding a solution to my problem would be really great.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pablo

    Unfortunately I can't see your screenshot, but supposing you have a table like this:
    Col1
    Col2
    1
    3
    Dupe
    2
    4
    Dupe
    3
    5
    Dupe
    4
    6
    5
    7
    Then here is one way to flag the duplicates.
    The formula in C2, copied down, is:
    =IF(COUNTIF($A,$B2)≥1,"Dupe","")
    Then filter on column C for 'Dupe', and copy the values in column B to wherever you need them.

  • Create return but linked to original sales order where the material was delivered in the first instance

    Hi Everyone
    I want to create return but linked to original sales order where the material was delivered in the first instance, I don’t want to create other sales order (to return) with references to the original, and then other sales order to be delivered again (replacement).
    Example
    SALES
    1. Create a sales order number 33 with 10 Ton
    2. The delivery is linked to sales order 33 just with 8 Ton
    3. Invoice is created linked to the delivery with 8 Ton
    4. Sales order number 10 pending qty is 2 Ton
    RETURN
    5. We would like to link the return delivery to the sales order, 5 Tons will be retuned
    6. Credit memo is created
    7. Sales order number 10 pending qty update to 7 Ton

    The only way is to change the item categories in the delivery.
    Create the delivery wrt the original sales order.
    Change the item category(In the config make sure the return is checked)- But I think you need to do some changes in the user exit to enable the item category in the delivery)..
    The other option is to have a return order document(type RE) and then create the return delivery for this document. In the copy controls you can maintain the return item categories while creating the return order from sales order..
    Thanks

  • Cant select a specific instance of an application when running multiple

    I am trying to write a script to launch multiple instances of chess.app, select computer vs. computer, and have it start playing. I am able to get it to either launch multiple versions of the app by via "do shell script", however when it begins to activate the chess app and select the appropriate objects, it always acts on the first instance of the application that was launched. Here is what I have so far:
    set volume 0
    repeat 3 times
    do shell script "open -n /Applications/Chess.app"
    tell (application "Chess") to activate
    tell application "System Events" to tell process "Chess"
    keystroke "n" using {command down}
    keystroke space
    key code 125
    key code 125
    keystroke space
    click button "Start" of sheet 1 of window 1
    end tell
    end repeat
    I have tried identifying the app by the process ID, but its unable to find it on runtime. Any advice would be appreciated. Feel free to ask for any clarification.

    You can use ps and grep from a shell script to find a list of all Chess processes, then extract just the PID with awk. From there, just tell System Events to bring the app to the front using the PID that was found, then start a new game. You can see an example below:
    -- increase the initial delay if you have trouble with key presses being sent before the window is open
    property initialDelay : 0.5
    property delayBetweenKeyPresses : 0.25
    set volume with output muted
    set knownPids to {}
    repeat 3 times
    -- launch Chess
    do shell script "open -n /Applications/Chess.app"
    -- get a list of PIDs for open instances of Chess
    set pidList to (do shell script "ps aux | grep Chess | grep -v grep | grep -v Engine | awk '{ print $2 }'")
    set pidList to words of pidList
    -- find the current instance's PID, then start a new game
    repeat with pid in pidList
    if (pid is not in knownPids) then
    set knownPids to knownPids & pid
    startChessGame(pid)
    exit repeat
    end if
    end repeat
    end repeat
    on startChessGame(pid)
    tell application "System Events"
    set procs to every process whose unix id is pid
    repeat with proc in procs
    set the frontmost of proc to true
    end repeat
    process "Chess"
    delay initialDelay
    keystroke "n" using {command down}
    delay delayBetweenKeyPresses
    keystroke space
    delay delayBetweenKeyPresses
    key code 125
    delay delayBetweenKeyPresses
    key code 125
    delay delayBetweenKeyPresses
    keystroke space
    delay delayBetweenKeyPresses
    keystroke return
    delay delayBetweenKeyPresses
    end tell
    end startChessGame
    Each new instance of Chess will create a new window in exactly the same spot so you'll have to handle window management however you see fit. This should work for just launching the individual instances of the Chess app and starting new games, though. You may also need to fiddle with the two delay properties that are set at the top in order to get it working correctly. The current settings work fine on my MacBook Pro but I haven't tested it on any other models or configurations.

  • ADF master-detail master selection not updating detail tables properly

    Hi All,
    I am using JDev version : 11.1.2.0.0
    I created new Fusion Web Application Module. In that module I created a master-detail data model and added them to a page fragment with a query panel. When I run it as a separate module, It works perfectly and Master selection correctly updates detail tables.
    But when I integrate that module to another Fusion Application(Add application jar file to the Master Application libraries), Master-details master selection not updating detail tables properly. This problem occurred sequentially.
    The problem is that.
    After the page load, first selection of the Master Table works correctly and detail tables update correctly.
    But second selection doesn't work, means detail table doesn't get update according to the Master table.
    And again in the third selection works correctly.
    This happens in a sequential manner. I monitor the behavior using Firebug. Observations are as follows,
    When running correctly, Response of the Post Definition is

    Hi,
    sound to be an implementation specific issue that is hard to comment on without knowing how to reproduce it. If you have a rerooducible test case based on the Oracle HR schema using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, zip it up, rename the "zip "extension to "unzip" and sent it to the mail address you find in my OTN profile. If you don't have that test case, explain how this can be reproduced

  • Selecting the first file from a group of opened files in Photoshop

    Hi, I've been digitizing microfiche with 200 or so pages photographed onto one image file, laid out in a grid pattern. I've been using actions in Photoshop to cut out one page, create a new file in Photoshop from that page, then return to the first, master file and do it again with the next page in the series. So when it is complete I have each individual page as an individual image file which I then save with a batch process. I've been doing this for a while and have managed to make it work but I always run into the problem, when creating this action again, of getting Photoshop to select that first master file each time instead of selecting just the previous file. I know I can get it to select the previous file, or the previous file -1, -2, -3, etc. I've somehow been able to get this to work in the past by creating an action that selects a large enough group back, like previous file -19 or something, and through some bug or sheer luck it has worked and will always select that first file. But it doesn't always work and it always takes some frustration to luck into it when it does. Now I can't seem to get it to work at all. Is there a straightforward way I can simply tell it to select the first file everytime? If not, does anyone know how or why the method I used previously sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, and how I can make it work again? I'm using PS CS5 in Windows 7. Thanks!

    Just put this code on a file and put that 'namedfile.jsx' inside the scripts folder on photoshop.
    Open or re-open photoshop to load the script and create an action linked to a shortcut selected by you and save this script going to File>Scripts>namedfile.jsx
    It is just to press the shortcut key and the active image go back to the image opened before.
    When it is the first one it runs the script the same but it remains there.
    Here is the script:
    // Go back to the previous opened image
    #target photoshop
    // Go back to the previous opened image (not the previous viewed) . If it is the first, it remain there.
    if(documents.length>0) {
        var thisIndexImage = getActiveDocumentIndex();
        var theDocs = app.documents;
        if ( thisIndexImage != 0 ) {
            var flatAnterior = theDocs[thisIndexImage - 1];
            } else {
            var flatAnterior = theDocs[0];
        app.activeDocument = flatAnterior;
    } else {
        alert ("You must have opened images to run this script.")
    // Get the active document number - the number of opening order
    function getActiveDocumentIndex(){
         var ref = new ActionReference();
         ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID("Dcmn"), charIDToTypeID("Ordn"), charIDToTypeID("Trgt") );
         return desc = executeActionGet(ref).getInteger(stringIDToTypeID('itemIndex'))-1;
    If you want to go directly to the first of all the images (in opening order) it is simpler:
    Just create this script:
    var first = app.documents[0];
    app.activeDocument = flatAnterior;

    On my ipod touch my songs start in random places and jump to different places as it plays, the remember position is not ticked can anyone please help?

    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Oracle 11g Table function returns no records on first call

    Hello,
    On a Oracle 11g R2 I've a table function ( PIPELINED ) returning rows selected from a table.
    The first time the function is selected, in a session ( I've tried to disconnect and log in again ), it returns no rows.
    I've tried to log the call using DBMS_OUTPUT and from what I see the select on the table function returns no rows and no output is printed. So I presume Oracle is not calling the function.
    The same function on a similar environment ( same db versions, patches and database structure ) works fine. The second environment is a production environment so it has more memory and some other settings enabled.
    Does anyone know of settings that can relate to this behaviour ?
    Thanks in advance for the help.

  • How to simplify entering position selection in Info type 0001 ?

    How to simplify entering position selection in Info type 0001 ?
    HR admin needs to select vacant positions of org unit 1 or 2.
    While executing Hiring action, F4 shows all the root org units - around 20 or so...
    I want only the org 1 and org 2 for which the HR Admin can do the hiring.
    How to implement this?
    Do we have IMG Config for enforce this ?
    Is this to be done thru ABAP code or something?
    Would the authorization stuff will filter the authorize org units only?
    Please help me how to figure this out
    Thanks

    Hi Chris
    There can be a workaround to simplify the process of entering vacant positions from org unit 1 & 2 ONLY . Try this out-
    1. create an adhoc query (report output on vacant positions with their object ID and position text for org unit 1and 2)
    2. Save the query as a variant (so the HR administrators would need to change only the key date when they run the query)
    3. Everytime the HR administrator runs the Hiring action for org unit 1 or 2 , ask them to run the report (adhoc) first. That way they get a complete list of vacant positions as on key date (with object ID) for org unit 1 and 2 . This report can also be downloaded in excel format
    4. use the positions from the above list to manually key in the hiring action
    Hope this helps you out - may not be the most efficient way of doing but atleast you have a ready list of all vacant positions as on a key date for org unit 1 & 2.
    I think there is a standard SAP report on vacant positions per org unit (plz check the SAP easy access menu--> Information system / reporting tools) . If that serves your purpose , no need to create adhoc query
    regards

  • Position Tweening Not Working

    Photoshop CS3. When I tween between frames in an animation with Position selected, the program dupes the first selected frame the number of times specified but does not tween the object's position. So if I specify five frames, I get five dupes of the first frame with no movement of the object towards its position in the target frame.
    The program does tween the Opaque option when that is selected.
    Oddly, the same problem occurs in both my Photoshop CS3 and my ImageReady CS.
    Could there be something in my computer that's preventing the Position tweening feature from working?
    Mac G4 866, 1GB RAM, OS 10.4.11.

    I did some position tweening in 2007 on Windows PS CS3 and had no problem. Now for the first time I'm trying it in Windows PS CS4 and I'm having exactly the problem you are!!!! I restarted PS and problem continued. I have no idea what else to try besides go find CS3 running somewhere. I'm using current rev, 11.0.2.
