Getting count - formula variable

Hi Guys,
Need you help.
I have a cube with data like this:
Division | Customer | Keyfig1 | KeyFig2
D1     A     10      20
D1     B     10      20
D1     C     10      20
D1     D     10      20
D1     E     10      20
In my Query i need to get the count column. Output should be like this:
Division | Count | Keyfig1 | KeyFig2
D1     5     50      100
Now count is 5 since Customer for that particular division were 5.
So i created a formula variable on customer with customer exit.
Now i need is some how create a calculated keyfigure - count(Customer formula variable)
Customer Formula Variable = COUNT(customer) in the user exit.
I tried with Customer with replacement path but i u need customer in the query inorder it to work since i dont want customer in query.
How to code this? will it work?

I am afraid that if you can actually get it done with customer exit, remember customer exit will be executed before pop up, after pop up in Step -1 and Step-2 and of course to validate screen selection variable value which is step-3. Basically, the customer exit will be executed only once before the variable popup or after the variable popup in the selection screen.
I have actually managed to count the number of customers without the customer being in the query rows. you just need to hide it and with the replacement path you will be able to acheive what you need. And also if you are in 7.0, then you can create a formula which will put '1' for every new records and use a reference characteristics "customer".

It wont take much time .. so simple :- )
Create one os comand step
( for unix) Use
wc -l filename.txt > someoutputfile.txt
Now the number of lines in your file will be there in the output file ( someoutputfile.txt )
Step2 :-
Now use Cezar's logic to fetch the variable value ( file count ) from the output file .. ( select value for a variable from a file )
This will not take eeven a second to finish the job.

Bex : Get KF result in a formula variable

I'd like to get the global result of a Key Figure into a formula variable but i see no way to do it...
This is to use this variable in an exception so as to color the individual results in comparison with the result caught in the variable...

Hi,
Try using SUMCT, SUMGT,SUMRT which are there in data functions in query designer.
You need to first create formula and then use SUMCT,SUMGT, SUMRT.

Get value of formula variable during query runtime into a text variable

Hi all,
I wanna get the value of the formula variables during the query runtime into a text variable.
My scenario is like this: First I defined a formula variable Z_DATE_3 which is processing by replacement. It will get the day of a characteristcs(Startdate).
Then I defined a text variable and in the function module related to this text variable, I used the parameter I_T_VAR_RANGE which can store the value of formula variable during the query runtime.So I can read the value from this table in my function module.
But I have a issue, when I run the query which used the defined text variable, it seems that it doesn't call the corresponding function module. Because I set a breadpoint in hte code and it never reach this breakpoint.
If I removed the parameter I_T_VAR_RANGE , it can enter the function module.
So could you please give some advice?
Is my solution correct or not?
And what's wrong with the parameter I_T_VAR_RANGE? Did I use it correctly?
And My code is:
DATA: l_s_range_v TYPE rrrangeexit,
             l_day type sy-datum.
if i_step <> 2.
raise no_processing.
endif.
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO l_s_range_v
     WITH KEY vnam = 'Z_DATE_3'.
if sy-subrc = 0.
     l_day = l_s_range_v-low.
endif.

Formula Variable in WAD (Counts) Not Displaying

Hi Gurus,
I am using BI7.0. I have a query that analyzes a charactersitic, such as Priority, uses 2 date (charactersitic[Create Date and Close Date) fields. I created a new forumla variable, using a Replacement path, to calculate the difference between the dates to derive the difference between the dates and a formula variable to derive the average number of days between the dates. That is working well.
However, when using the Bar Graph or the Pie graph I can not see the value of the formula variable that contains the average number of days.
I am assuming that because the key figure is a formula variable and not a 'key figure' then I would need to remodel my date fields as Key Figures in order for the Web Items, such as Pie/Bar Charts to view them.
Has anyone seen this before.....is there anything I can do at the query level in order for my formula variable to show up in the WAD?

Formula variable / Replacement path issue

Hi Experts,
I have a Field which has different status description.
I want to bring the count of only one preferred description.
Model Status
A1     New
A2     Open
A3     New
B1     Closed
B2      Pending
B3     New
I want to view only the closed count of models
Model Count of Closed
A1     0
A2     0
A3     0
B1     1
B2      0
B3     0
I tried doing this using the formula variable and Replacement path with Status Field.
But I'm unsuccessful in selection the desired status.
Please help me to over come this.

I can't restrict the characterstic to Closed. If I do so the output will be only for Closed.
But here I want to bring every model with value as 0 and 1 for model with closed status.

The requirement what I have here is more complex. like, the result will be for 6 month displaying every single cal/day.
and also I have to find out percentage of closed for every cal/day based on number of model we got.
i have only asked a small portion of it, with this input i will manage to build the percentage etc....
I cannot bring counter inside. My report is already too wide to be displayed.
I have tried similar kind of thing, using CKF, Formula Variable and Replacement path with the Char - InfoObj.

You can create the one KF zcount add in target level
put the constant value at transformation level.
go to rule details change the form direct assignment to constant 1.
it will easy calculate for count each object.
then one more time load the data.

How to write a "Count" Formula in Webi 4.1

I have a webi report (Datasource is Excel) where I have a self join (merged Dimension) on the 'YearMonth' . I am bringing all the 'filed Dates' from one query and all the 'Settled' dates from another query. (Same excel datasource for these queries, created a merged dimension). Now, I am trying to write a 'Count' formula (Please see below), to count all the '#GO" where 'Settled Date is Current Year. The issue is, when the 'Filed date' and 'Settled Date' is 'current year', but the filed month is different, then it is counting the 'Settled Month' in the 'Filed Month'. For ex: If the issue is settled in 'April'2014, but filed in 'March'2014, it is counting the settled Month as 'March'2014' instead of 'April'2014'. How do I get the count of all the issues settled in the current year, regardless of 'Filed Month' or 'Filed Year'. Please help.

IS the empty rows comming from backend or do you have any variables in the columns that has null values?.
If it is a varaible then Create : =if(Var1 = 0 or isnull(Var1)) then "Hide" else "Display"
Create a report filter on "Var1" and select "Hide".

Formula variables with replacement from key

Well We are doing Upgradation from BW3.5 to BI 7.0.. After Upgrade we got stuck up'd at reports.. We are facing an error for a report which is formula variables with replacement from key is not working. The final result is giving us unexpected results i.e, Itz showing the values as X.
We got some reference from Service.sap. We found a note which is 1005772. Howeer this Note is applicable for suport package level 12. But we are already in higher suppor package level 15.. So this note is not applicable.
Can anyone guide us if u people have faced this kind of issue.

Hi,
Replacemet path processing type can be used with Charceteristics variables, text variables and formula variables.
For example u have created two restricted Key figues for two
years sales comparison and u have used characteristics variables on 0CALYEAR.
The years for which we want to compare sales volume will be selected during the Execution.
If 2000 and 2001 be selected,
these can be assigned as text for restricted Key figures in the record.

BW 3.5 - Issue with formula variable with replacement path

Dear experts,
I'm facing an issue with formula variable with replacement path.
Just to clarify, I know replacement paths is raising a lot of questions but I've been using this functionnality extensively in the past, both in 7.0 and 3.5, so I'm not looking for basic information about how to use it.
I'm trying to setup a simple report that would show total values per plant of Purchase Order < 100
To do so I've setup a calculated key figure as follow:
VAR1 * ("PO value" < 100 ) * "PO value"
VAR1 is a formula variable with replacement path on 'purchase order' and value attribute 'constant =1'.
(The report has to show values summarized by plant but should not show the detail PO by PO, so I'm not looking at a solution based on condition)
The report as characteristic "plant" in rows and my CKF in columns.
Now let's take an example. I have 3 POs in Plant 1:
PO1 -> 150
PO2 -> 90
PO3 -> 80
Because of the variable with replacement path, the result in my query should be:
plant1 = 170 (even though characteristic "purchase order" is not in my rows, system should evaluate PO one by one and return values only for those two that are below 100).
But the result coming is 320, which is wrong.
I've done the same report on many other 3.5 systems and it worked perfectly, and I am not able to get proper support from SAP OSS who keep saying that this functionnality is not ready in 3.5 (although I've provided screenshot of this working on another 3.5 system!!! how frustrating...)
They have also pointed to problems of Before and After aggregation but that has absolutely no impact. Once again, the scenario is working perfectly on other 3.5 systems with the same query design, so i'm sure it has nothing to do with Query Designer options.
Would anyone have ever come to an equivalenet problem? I'm wondering whether the DB itself could not play a role in the variable with ref characteristic 'constant =1' ...

Hi,
The text variable is replaced when the exact date is clear for this key figure column according to the restriction.
To achive this, please make sure that either the variable is directly restricted in the key figure selection, or that the date characteristic is in drilldown.

Default Value in Formula Variable - Inconsistent behaviour

Hi,
I am facing a very strange issue in a formula variable.
I had created three formula variables with default values and the user (Power user who has the Bex access) was able to change the default value themselves for two of these variables.
Now he wants to change all the three, so I have tried to check the issue and changed all the three for testing purpose.
Now, he is unable to change any of them!!! Sad, now I cant even say that "You dont have the Auth to do so"
Any clue? Anyone has faced similar issue.
Any thoughts are highy welcome! Suddenly users wants to get this one URGENTLY, usually he used to access the report once in month. Now he wants to use the same once in half an hour
We are on BI 7.0 with SP 24

How to get a formula from the user from a text box in a webpage

Hi. I would like to know how to get the formula from the user who enters in a textbox. This formula can have any number of variables starting with a and goes on.
The complexity of the formula can go upto sin, cos, ln, exp. Also user enters the minimum and maximum values of these variables. Based on a specific algorithm (which I use) I would calculate a *set of values, say 10, for each of these variables, substitute in the formula and based on the result of this formula, I select ONE suitable value for each of the variables.
I don't know how to get this formula (which most likely to be different each time) and substitute the values *which I found earlier.
Kindly help me out in this issue.

The textbox is the easy part. It's no different than getting a String parameter out of an HTTP request.
The hard part is parsing the String into a "formula" for evaluation. You'll have to write a parser or find one.
Google for "Java math expression parser" and see what you get.
Or write your own with JavaCC.

USE of PREVIOUS command to eliminate duplicate records in counter formula

i'm trying to create a counter formula to count the number of documents paid over 30 days. to do this i have to subtract the InvDate from the PayDate. and then create a counter based on this value. if {days to pay} is greater than 30 then 1 else 0.
then sum the {days to pay} field to each group. groups are company, month, and supplier.
becuase invoices can have multiple payments and payments can have multiple invoices. there is no way around having duplicate records for the field.
so my counter is distorted by by the duplicate records and my percentage of payments over 30 days formula will not be accurate do to these duplicates.
I've tried Distinct Count based on this formula if {days to pay} is greater than 30 then . and it works except that is counts 0.00 has a distinct records so my total is off 1 for summaries with a record that (days to pay} is less than or equal to 30.
if i subract 1 from the formula then it will be inaccurate for summaries with no records over 30 days.
so i'm come to this.
if Previous() do not equal
then
if {day to days} greater than 30
then 1
else 0.00
else 0.00
but it doesn't work. i've sorted the detail section by

So, you have to include all data and not just use the selection criteria 'PayDate-InvDate>30'?
You will need to create a running total on the RPDOC ID, one for each section you need to show a count for, evaluating for your >30 day formula.
I don't understand why you're telling the formula to return 0.00 in your if statement.
In order to get percentages you'll need to use the distinct count (possibly running totals again but this time no formula). Then in each section you'd need a formula that divides the two running totals.
I may not have my head around the concept since you stated "invoices can have multiple payments and payments can have multiple invoices". So, invoice A can have payments 1, 2 and 3. And Payment 4 can be associated with invoice B and C? Ugh. Still though, you're evaluating every row of data. If you're focus is the invoices that took longer than 30 days to be paid...I'd group on the invoice number, put the "if 'PayDate-InvDate>30' then 1 else 0" formula in the detail, do a sum on it in the group footer and base my running total on the sum being >0 to do a distinct count of invoices.

Formula Variable with replacement path on 0CALDAY

Hi,
I am trying to enhance an existing query.
I am creating a new formula variable processing by replacement path.
In Reference Characterisitic I have choosen 0CALDAY.
In the tab options , I selected replacement path.
In the replacement path tab, in Replacement Rule /replace variable with I am trying to select the variable. But in the variable list I am not able to find 0CALDAY variable, which we have already created and restricting in some other key figures.
Please help me in this regard.

Hey in the replacement path tab you need to choose either its infoobject or variable from which the value needs to be taken.
If you choose infoobject you get the options of choosing its attributes etc.
If you choose variable you get option to choose variable associated.
But under "General Tab" under reference characteristic you need to choose your CALDAY.

Formula variable with replacement path on system date

Hi Experts,
I got a requirement to calculate "Days without payment" in report level.
Days without payment = System Date - Payment Date.
(Payment date field is available in CUBE, but system date field is not available in the CUBE)
As we know, the difference b/w 2 dates is not possible directly.It can be possible by creating 2 formula variables with replacement paths on the dates and by writing aformula on these 2 formula variables.
But the thing is I dont have system date readily available, and I tried by using SAP Exit. But we cant create formula variable replacement path on another variable (SAP EXIT).
Do we have any SAP variable for formula with replacement path readily avaliable to get system date (or) any other suggession.
Please suggest me.

I tried doing the same previously.As u said we can get system date by creating customer exit variable.
But the thing is to find difference b/w 2 dates, we cant do it directly, we need to create 2 formula variables with replacement path.
1) Var1 = Formula variable with replacement path on system date(custoer exit variable).
2) Var2 = Formula variable with replacement path on paymanet date.
Number of days = var1 - var2.
But as in 1st point, we cant create formula variable with replacement path on another variable, as system date is already a variable of type customer exit.
We can create replacement paths only on characteristics.
Please suggest me .
