Getting Date in different timezone
Hi!
I have a date stored in my database in GMT+1 timezone. I need it to be in UTC in my BPEL process after I retrieve it from the database. I know how to do this using Java embedded activity, but I'm looking for a solution using only Oracle BPEL functions. Is this possible?
The way I read the value now is:
<copy>
<from expression="substring(bpws:getVariableData('getVoyageResult','ArrivalDepartureCollection','/ns2:ArrivalDepartureCollection/ns2:ArrivalDeparture/ns2:arrEta'), 1, 19)"/>
<to variable="MaData" part="MyMessagePart"
query="/MyMessagePart/client:Body/client:Notification/client:VoyageInformation/@ETA"/>
</copy>Thanks,
kind regards!
BB
I resolved this using CAST(SYS_EXTRACT_UTC(TO_TIMESTAMP(TO_CHAR(ETA, 'MY_FORMAT'), 'MY_FORMAT')) AS DATE) in SELECT statement so no BPEL functionality.

Single query to get data from different databases
i need to capture certain fields from certain tables in database 1 and certain fields from certain tables in database 2 into one file using a single SQL statement.
i tried searching on the net
i found that dblinks can help
but iam not sure if ill be able to create dblinks in my situation which is:
i need to get data from oracle to be copied to mysql
this is not a replication acitivity, but i need certain fields from one database and certain from the other
so what iwas thinking is, if i use an sql query to get all the fields (i need around 40) from the different oracle databases and create a singlefile with one insert per select, i can then read that file into mysql
instead of creating multiple sql queries for each table and creating separate files and eventually separate tables in mysql.
can anyone help me here?
or maybe suggest another approach.
thanksHi,
I think dblink is the only option available to get data from different databases. It will work for your case too.
CREATE DATABASE LINK db_link CONNECT TO user_name IDENTIFIED BY password USING 'instance_name'you must have the system privilege 'create database link' to create db links. This way you can get the required data and put it in a table in oracle. But i dont know how to put this data from oracle table to Mysql.

Issue with Java date when different timezone involved
Hi
I am facing a problem with java util and SQL date due to different time zones,
We have a applet which displays data as gant chart( microsoft project type)
We have our server in NY (EST) which reads data from database (in EST) and sends this data to applet using applet-servlet communication (seralize object)
This applet gets this date from servlet, does some calculation for pixcels and paints it, but now i am having problem with this calculation, since the date coming is from EST and calendar object in applet is from CST.
How do i resolve this
AshishHow are you passing the date or doing the calculation?
I guess you're not using java.util.Date because then would have no problems. The Date class already accounts for different timezones; an instance represents a single moment of time which can be rendered differently depending on the time zone. -
How to get data from different SEGMENTs
Hi;
My requirement is to first of all retrieve the data from different segments in run time.
I mean, i have to execute t/code WE19 and the idoc will be given after that an user exit would called where i have to retrieve the data from different segments and then it would store in an internal table for further calculation.
Can you all please guide me how to retrieve the data via ABAP code in runtime so that it can store in an internal table.

Get date from another TimeZone
Hi,
I have to get the time from a timezone that is not the current timezone. So, I do the following:
TimeZone timeZone = TimeZone.getTimeZone("America/La_Paz");
Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(timeZone);
long longTime = calendar.getTime().getTime();
Time time = new Time(longTime);
If I print the time using:
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(time.toString());
the output is right, but when I set this same Time instance to a context element (with Time type) that is linked to an InputField, that InputField shows me the time of the current TimeZone.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance

Introduce this method in your -others- section of your controller:
private Time getDateInTimeZone(Date currentDate, String timeZoneId)
TimeZone timeZone = TimeZone.getTimeZone(timeZoneId);
Calendar aCal = new GregorianCalendar(TimeZone.getTimeZone(timeZoneId));
aCal.setTimeInMillis(currentDate.getTime());
Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
cal.set(Calendar.YEAR, aCal.get(Calendar.YEAR));
cal.set(Calendar.MONTH, aCal.get(Calendar.MONTH));
cal.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, aCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH));
cal.set(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY, aCal.get(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY));
cal.set(Calendar.MINUTE, aCal.get(Calendar.MINUTE));
cal.set(Calendar.SECOND, aCal.get(Calendar.SECOND));
cal.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, aCal.get(Calendar.MILLISECOND));
return new Time(cal.getTimeInMillis());
Usage:
Time t = getDateInTimeZone(new Date(), "PST");
Create an attribute of type time in your context and set it to this value.

How to make this function module as RFC to get data from different system?
Hi
I am trying to use following function module . This function module is used to copy data from one cube to another cube within same system however I need a this should happen across two different system. How can I use this function module to make it remote call to different system and do the same function what it is doing ?
Name of function module -
RSDRT_INFOCUBE_DATA_COPY
Any help would be really helpful
AGHI,
let us say you want to copy the data of a cube in system A to a cube in system B .
1) create a RFC function module in system B (in this function module call the function module RSDRI_CUBE_WRITE_PACKAGE to update the data), this RFC function module should have same parametersa as RSDRI_CUBE_WRITE_PACKAGE .
2) write a program in system A .. read the data from the infocube using the function module RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ and call the RFC function module in system B that you have created..
for the details of the parameters to pass to these two function modules use the RSDRT_INFOCUBE_DATA_COPY and get the required code
Thanks

How convert date with different timezone?
HI,
My problem is pretty simple. I have one Date and given another time zone (as a string), I want to have another date object with a different time zone. I used jodaTime. The code is as follows:
DateTimeZone zone = DateTimeZone.forID("US/Eastern");
DateTime parsedDateTime = DateTimeFormat.forPattern("mm/dd/yyyy").withZone(zone).parseDateTime(dstr);
System.out.println(parsedDateTime.toString());
System.out.println(parsedDateTime.toDate().toString());The output is:
2008-02-14T00:00:00.000-05:00
Thu Feb 14 11:00:00 GMT+06:00 2008
This is quite weird. As is obvious from the output, datetime stores date in the correct timezone. but when converted it to date it applies the jvm's timezone. Why is it so? And why is this time conversion mad e so difficult by providing zillions of classes and methods such as Date, Calendar etc.amishera2006 wrote:

if both tz track DST the same just add the time difference in
hours to all your
datetimes when you want to display them. otherwise have a
look at this
http://www.sustainablegis.com/projects/tz/testTZCFC.cfm
but it's probably overkill for your purposes. -
Data from different databases in the same report.
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to build a reconciliation report in which I need to show the data from the source and target, side by side.
Source and target are both different databases, although being oracle only
Whenever a new data model is created, it gets attached to a data source and in the report we need to choose a specific data model.
Can we have data from different databases in the same report ?Yes, it is possible.
One way Is to use dataTemplates. There you can make queries from any number of different databases (The max I have done is 5).
It looks something like that:
<dataTemplate name="NameOfTemplate">
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q1" dataSourceRef="Connection1">
<![CDATA[ select * from table1]]>
</sqlStatement>
<sqlStatement name="Q2" dataSourceRef="Connection2">
<![CDATA[ select * from table2]]>
</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="RESULT1" source="Q1">
<element name="P_FIRST_NAME" value="P_FIRST_NAME"/>
</group>
<group name="RESULT2" source="Q2">
<element name="P_DATE" value="P_DATE"/>
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>dataStructure is very important when you get data from different places, if you don't define those elements, then only the result from Q1 is shown.
The second possible way is to make as two different data models, each containing their own query and then set Main Data Set as concatenated SQL Data Source.
Best of luck,

How to get data from bluetooth device?
Hi,
I'm trying to create an application in which I want to communicate with another bluetooth device for data. As I know using GameToolKit framework we can communicate with another iPhone or iPod device, but in my application I want to get data from different bluetooth device.
Is it possible in iphone SDK? If yes, can somebody help me out?
Thanks.avinash.ng wrote:

You might want to look over the External Accessory framework, released with 3.0.
...keep in mind, however, that the only way to communicate with other BT devices via the EAF is if they are in the 'Made for iPod' accessory program. http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/accessories/
However again.... Even though they communicate through standard BT connections, accessories need special hardware in order to process the data stream coming from the iPhone / iPod touch. Unfortunately, this may mean that any idea of communicating with generic BT devices won't work on iPhone OS 3.x.
If the devices you want to talk to are Bonjour-discoverable via WiFi, they don't need to be part of the MfI program. Does that sound like your case?
Also you may want to keep in mind that 3rd. party devs in the future may release dongles that connect via the 30-pin dock port, providing access to existing BT devices. If said devs opened their communication protocols, that might enable the goal of communicating with said devices. -
How can i get current time in different TimeZone
Hi alls,
How can i get current time in different TimeZone.
I've tried
final Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(GMT0_TIME_ZONE);
final Date date = calendar.getTime();
but it returns current time in my time zone not in GMT0a simple way would be:Sometimes gets you the right result (not during daylight saving), but always the wrong way.
I would strongly recommend getting into the habit of handling Dates correctly. A Date is a universal instant in time - the number of milliseconds since midnight GMT on 1 January 1970. That instant corresponds to various dates and times, depending on your time zone and the effect of daylight saving. You make that conversion of a universal instant to a localized date/time using Calendar and DateFormat. -
Get date from Oracle when local time zone is different from Oracle time zon
Hi!
Local machine time zone= +2
Oracle time zone= +1
I set date to Oracle using java.sql.Date.
From application I save date at 00:30 clock and send e.g. 28.06.2002, but in Oracle date is save as 27.06.2002 01:00 (hour=01 , I suppose that is because java.sql.Date hasn't time the Oracle set it time = time zone=+1) And when I get date from Oracle I get incorrect date. In SQL I don't use date masks. Maybe solution is to use java.sql.Timestamp object (when save date to Oracle) instead of java.sql.Date?
But if I save date at e.g. 01:00 clock and send e.g. 28:06.2002 in Oracle, date is save as 28.06.2002 01:00 and when I read from Oracle I get correct date.

solution is to use java.sql.Timestamp object (when

But if I save date at e.g. 01:00 clock and send e.g.

H264 export, 23.972 or 24 fps?
Okay, I have an HDV project I want to make into a BR ISO file. So, I want to export as an 1080P H.264, but it gives me 3 fps options. 23.972, 24 or 29.97. So, which would be the correct on to use? Thanks Dave
