Getting error ORA-01732, after implementation of VPD policy
Hi,
I have created a policy to restrcit the number of records affected in auncondtional select & update (not more than 3 at a time). The policy is working fine for the select staement but when I'm trying to update the same table I'm getting "ORA-01372: data manipulation operation not legal on this view".
I'm using Oracle 10g release 2. & I performed following steps:

Welcome to the forum!
This seems odd: you add a policy to an object named SMB_BOLT_CODE, but you query SMB_BOLT_CODES
SQL> BEGIN
2 DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY (
3 object_schema => 'smbdev',
4 object_name => 'SMB_BOLT_CODE',

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.ORA-20001 isn't an Oracle error message it was coded into your application by a developer: Look it up.
Consider too the following:
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN NULL;so if the employee identifier is not found ... is this really what you want? If an employee isn't valid shouldn't you know it? -
I am getting error "ORA-12899: value too large for column".
I am getting error "ORA-12899: value too large for column" after upgrading to 10.2.0.4.0
Field is updating only through trigger with hard coded value.
This happens randomly not everytime.

Starting Oracle 11gr2 Im getting Error: ORA-03135: connection lost contact
Hi Guys!
Thanks for your advises. I still working toward a resolution.
But I encountered another issue from Enterp Manager :
ERROR : Please correct the following error: Connection string must be specified.
My connection has this format:
//using connection string attributes to connect to Oracle Database
con.ConnectionString = "User Id=scott;Password=tiger;Data Source=oracle";
con.Open();
Console.WriteLine("Connected to Oracle" + con.ServerVersion);
Please tell me what is wrong here. Thanks. Dan.

Discoverer 3.1.25: getting error ORA-06550 when scheduling report
Hello,
we are still using the Discoverer version 3 (release 3.1.25). I know that this version is out of support, but that doesn't harm use from using it...
The Discoverer has been working fine for the last couple years. At the beginning of every month the same already defined reports are getting generated. But with the beginning of the year 2010 we are getting the error:
ORA-06550: line 1, column 93:
PLS-00201: identifier 'EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE0100112082923.RUN' must be declared
ORA-06550: line 1, column 93:
PL/SQL: Statement ignored
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_JOB" line 79
The numbers "0100112082923" after the identifier "EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE" specify the date and time:
082923: 08 hour, 29 minutes, 23 seconds
0100112: 010 year, 01 month, 12 day
The reason of that error is that the mentioned Package/Packagebody EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE*0*100112082923 doesn't exist in the database. But as a matter of fact the Package/Packagebody 'EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE100112082923 does exist. The Discoverer creates the Package/Packagebody without the "0" after the identifier "EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE" in the database, but wants to use the Package/Packagebody with the "0" after the identifier "EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE". Seems like a bug to me - does anybody have the same problem?
Until the year 2009 the year was specified with just two digits (09) - now the year seems to get specified with 3 digits (010) - but in the database just two digits are used. Is there any property table or button where this gets defined?
Any help will be appreciated!Seems like if I have found the bug by myself...
In the procedure SubmitJob(...) of the package EUL$BATCH_REPOSITORY the name of the scheduled procedure gets generated with the hardcoded string
"EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE0". The zero after "PACKAGE" is only correct when the year ends with one digit (e.g. 2001, 2002, ..., 2009). When shortening the
string to "EUL$BATCH_PACKAGE" everything works fine again...

Getting error ORA-02067: transaction or savepoint rollback required
I am performing the task of archiving the data from one database into another database. This is being achieved by using a shell script. I run the shell script to call the procedure. After running two or three hours, I am getting the following error
ORA-02067: transaction or savepoint rollback required
Even I re-ran the job I was getting the same error.
Can any one suggest me why I am getting this error and what is the possible remedial of it ?Please post this question in General Database Discussions forum.
To get you started, here is what the documentation says about this error.
ORA-02067: transaction or savepoint rollback required
Cause: A failure (typically a trigger or stored procedure with multiple remote updates) occurred such that the all-or-nothing execution of a previous Oracle call cannot be guaranteed.
Action: rollback to a previous savepoint or rollback the transaction and resubmit. -
So I had the stock 320gb drive that came with my machine. It started crashing, so I pre-empted the loss of data and installed a spare Western Digital 500gb Scorpio Blue drive, installed Mavericks, and restored my data. Almost immediately I began having sporadic issues with the machine being unable to write to the disk, giving me "error code -50" after being on for about a day or so. I usually just restart and it will work for another day or so, but this is getting very tedious, and I'm a bit worried it might be straining the machine, since I can only hard restart (holding power button) when this happens. Usually, right after restarting, I repair the disk permissions, and this seems to fix things.
Is this maybe a bad OS install? Maybe I should back up and try it all again? Or is there a software issue I'm not seeing a solution for anywhere? Most people who are getting the "error code -50" messages seem to be getting them on external drives. Is it just a compatibility issue and I need to seek a new drive?Thank you for the tips!

I would check to see if the WD HDD has its own Sudden Motion Sensor. If so, it may be coming in conflict with the one in the Mac. If that is the case, I suggest disabling the SMS in the Mac.
WD5000BEVT does indeed have it's own protection:
ShockGuard™ - Leading-edge ShockGuard technology combines firmware and hardware advancements to protect the drive mechanics and platter surface to meet the highest combined shock tolerance specifications required for mobile and notebook applications.

Even though I read about it I had not touched any SMS settings in OS X since I did not have any problems before. I disabled SMS in Mac, let's see now.

Reteep,
you could try the same thing as well.
In my case I doubt it is the problem because it worked fine before Mavericks, although forcing restart may have done something. I hope disabling SMS helped. -
Error ORA-24247 after migrating from 10g to 11g
Hi all,
After a migration from a 10.2.0.3 (32bits) database to a 11.2.0.3 (64bits) database, we are facing a problem related to the UTL_SMTP package. I vale already created a ACL, as you can see below:
-- create acl
BEGIN
DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.CREATE_ACL (acl => 'user_processos.xml',
description => 'abc',
principal => 'PROCES',
is_grant => TRUE,
privilege => 'connect');
END;
-- assign acl
BEGIN
DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.ASSIGN_ACL (acl => 'user_processos.xml'
host => 'rac-abc',
lower_port => 1521,
upper_port => NULL);
END;The problem is: After we try to execute a procedure that calls UTL_SMTP, with user PROCES the error ORA-24247 is raised. I did some research and they all point to the it is necessary to create an ACL to solve this probles, but the ACL already exists, as you can see above.Hi,
I had the same issue, well multiple issues, with this at first. You should find the solution in one of these links. Make sure you have done each step in the lists and it will work.
[url http://www.ora00600.com/scripts/databaseconfig/ORA-29278.html]ORA-29278 SMTP
[url http://www.ora00600.com/scripts/11g/UTL_SMTP_ORA-06512.html]ORA-06512: at SYS.UTL_SMTP
There are various parameters and configuration steps you need to make sure you have performed for it to work.
Hopefully that helps,
Rob
