Getting fed up with Apple TV

Let me just say, I love the concept of Apple TV. When it works, it's great.
I've got two Apple TVs (2nd gen), both connected wirelessly (not by choice...at the moment, that's all I can do). They're connecting to my Airport Extreme (802.11n) to get on the network. I live in a small-ish 1000 sq. ft condo, and the Airport Extreme is located right in the middle. I have good wireless coverage from end to end, and even when I pull up the network settings on ATV, they both show a full signal. There really isn't any other traffic on my network. It's my girlfriend and I living there, and besides for casual internet use, all the network really gets used for is media streaming to Apple TV.
My media-center is a 2010 Mac Mini, which is on all the time, connected to the same Airport Extreme via gigabit ethernet.
Here are my issues:
It loses connection to the library on my Mac Mini *constantly*. Meaning, I turn the TV on, go to look for a show, movie, whatever, and it says it can't connect. The only way to resolve it is to disable Home Sharing, re-enable it, and ta-da...works again. (There's been a lot of discussion on these forums about this).
In the middle of a show, it'll just pause. I have to exit out of the show, and go back in.
Sometime after watching one episode, I go back to the table of contents to pull up another one, and it just freezes there "loading." Again...exit out, go back in, sometimes more than once to get it to cooperate.
Is anyone else here having these issues, and what have you done to resolve them? I spend more time troubleshooting these damned things than I actually do using them, and I'm at the point where I'm considering looking at another solution. I just don't get it...I don't see how it could be hardware incompatibilities; all of the hardware is made by Apple!!! And yes, it's wireless, but like I said...it's pretty much a dedicated network for this, and there isn't a lot of traffic otherwise. When is Apple going to fix some of this stuff? The "it just works" mentality that I tend to apply to a lot of things Apple certainly does NOT apply to Apple TV.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

• I am so fed up with Apple and their lack of testing on Security Updates!!!!

I am so fed up with Apple, i have lost all hope in them whatsoever. Today i installed the Security Update 2007-009 1.1 and when prompted to restart did so, only to wait 5 minutes with my computer just idling and not restarting. So I then went to the apple menu to restart but still nothing happened. Pushed the Power button on my Mac and it brought up the dialog box for:
...Log off...Restart...Shutdown
But then it quickly logged-out giving me no time to even click on restart , so i logged back in , tried again, and of course it did the same thing again, so i logged back in and force shutdown holding down the power button for 5 seconds. Finally it shut down so i then Powered it back up, logged in with no problems.
Since the Security Update includes the update of Logic 8.0.1, I went straight to it in applications but found the Logic icon & Logic Node icon replaced by Blue folder icons. Upon clicking on Logic i was prompted with an error stating that it could not open because the file was corrupt, so i decided to delete Logic and along with Logic Node and empty the trash so that it would remove all its files. But now when i clicked on Trash, the window would not come up. I tried just empty trash from the dock but it would not empty the trash either. I can not open any finder window from my dock's Finder Icon.
I can open finder by clicking on Macintosh HD on my desktop but when i navigate through my folders all of my file icons have these weird sort of Distorted Scan lines through them.
So i decided i would open disk utility and try and repair whatever the **** is going on. Pressed verify Disk and it tried to Verify the disk but came back a minute after idling, giving me this error:
Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
Invalid volume free block count
(It should be (It should be 4 instead of 6294237)
Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair
Here is a screenshot of Disk Utility: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g269/DjViral/Picture1.png
So obviously something is wrong because it reported failure on exit and Disk Utility will not even let me click on "Repair Disk", it is just faded out, un-click-able.
I would like to know what is wrong, and why Apple is releasing such **** as Security Updates. I mean isn't the whole point of a security update to make your computer more secure. Is this a joke or something?
I have lost all respect for you Apple. Not too mention this happened only 2 months ago with your last security update and i had to get my computer serviced which took 3 weeks. You better explain yourselves, apologize and start getting your sorry act together.

when prompted to restart did so, only to wait 5 minutes with my computer just idling and not restarting. So I then went to the apple menu to restart but still nothing happened. Pushed the Power button on my Mac
You should not have done that, it is a process that should never be interrupted.
For next time:
There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.9 to 10.4.10. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
Now proceed as follows:
4. Close all applications.
5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:

My iphone plus is bending, what does Apple offer regarding this issue?
I am trying to get to contact with Apple Customer Care, but not clear to me how to do it beside this channel of communication. I bought the phone from kosovar carrier which is under Slovenian ownership. This means that the original warranty comes from Slovenia, bit complicated but still I would like to get an urgent answer how to proceed with this issue, thanks

Maybe i should have only asked if anyone is aware on apple's policy
regarding bending. I took the point that this seems not a proper forum to
pose Q's to apple thanks to both

Reinstall OS X:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

• Why doesn't my IPad purchases no longer transfer to my IPhone 4S. I am really getting very annoyed with Apple and their products.

I have never had issues with purchases made on my IPad or IPhone transferring to the other device. Today, I purchased a song from ITunes on my IPad and it didn't transfer/sync to my IPhone 4S. I tried syncing my phone on for the song on my MacBook Pro, and I got this crazy (and annoying) message stating I can't transfer the song for NINETY DAYS! What did Apple do to ITunes and why? I am getting so frustrated with Apple that if this continues, I will never again purchase another Apple product.

There should be no reason you can't sync your itunes library to your iphone...
Plug your phone into itunes... click on the iphone that is in the corner.. .it usually says your name... such as Lisa's iphone or whatever... then you will see some tabs such as... summary, music, videos, photos... on each one of those you need to check what you want to sync to your iphone. Once you check those boxes then click apply then scroll down and sync... do that one each section -photos, music etc...
Apple doesn't want you to buy things over... that's why when you buy something trough itunes you can download it as many times as you want for life!

Downgrading is not supported.
Here are some basic troubloeshooting tips:
- Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear. (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
- Relaunch the App and try again.
- Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
- Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
- Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
- Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
- Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.
If you want to contact Apple directly, call 1-800-MYAPPLE (1-800-692-7753), or go to getsupport.apple.com.
Don't waste your time asking for a downgrade of the iOS. That's not an option.

• Fed up with Apple, change to Samsung?

S6 Edge and a Samsung Tab.....marriage made in heaven

For various reasons I'm fed up with Apple and I'm thinking of switching to Samsung. I had a Galaxy S5 for a short while and didn't like it but I'm thinking of changing my tablet from an iPad to a Tab S this time so everything should work together properly (in theory!). Before I do this I have some questions: 1. Which is better, the Galaxy 6 or 6 Edge? I've read reviews but it's interesting to hear peoples' opinions.2. Is it easy (or possible) to transfer contacts from an iPhone to a Galaxy?3. Will I need a new SIM card or can O2 just change me from an iPhone plan to a 'normal' plan? Thanks in advance for any opinions/advice.

Help- how do i get in contact with Apple via mail or chat for support
This is ridiculous, why can I not get in contact with Apple by email or chat with their support team?? How to do, please help.

You cannot contact Apple support by e-mail or via chat.
You have to contact AppleCare by telephone.
If there is an Apple store nearby, visit the genius bar.

• Hello, Can anyone tell me if there is any mail to get in touch with Apple support? ... I do not remember my password for my IDApple and when I enter iforgot.apple to recover I do not get the email

Hello, I'm trying to get my Apple ID password but when I enter the page that helps you to recover it tells me to send an email and I do not get ... with what I can not reset my password ... Can anyone help me? ... Are there any email from Apple support where you can tell what I get to help me to recover?. Thanks!

Apple does not have email support. If you're not getting the email verification from Apple, check your anti-spam filters, on your computer and with your email provider, to make sure that emails from Apple aren't being blocked. You can also try the Security Questions option rather than the email authentication. See:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE36
Otherwise, you'll need to call Apple support:

Why when I try to log in using my Apple ID that it comes up as incorrect even though I know it isn't. After several attempts I was asked to select a new password after correctly answering required security questions my new password was excepted. Guess what, when I tried to log in again using new password I received the same message telling me my ID/Password again was incorrect. I have only had this IPad a few months & this is the 3 rd time I have been forced to change the password. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong.
