Getting java.lang.LinkageError: duplicate class definition after new build

I few weeks ago I started getting :
java.lang.LinkageError: duplicate class definition every time I tried to access a web app that just got a fresh ANT build to the the web server. The error sites the application's primary servlet class. When I bump the server on I-Planet (6.0), the error goes away. I cannot find a duplicate class anywhere, though. I'm stumped.

    The interesting thing about this error is that it only happens when the thread is executing for the first time. Which is right after the web server has been started up.
    I've checked that all classes are in the classpath exacty once.
    I have no idea what is causing this.
    Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thank You.

    Hi,
    I hope you have added the classpath in the "context.properties" file, which will be in config directory of your server root directory. You need to restart the server after adding the classpath in the property file.
    Please send me your configuration files, 1)obj.conf 2)magnus.conf 3)error.log 4)jvm12.conf

  • I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Is Apple aware of this problem? No longer supported?

    My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
    I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.
    Is Apple aware of this problem? Are these classes no longer supported? Has anyone else had this problem? You can attempt to recreate the problem locally by going to my web page: http://donsmallidge.com/DonSmallidgeChess.html
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    I just went up to check the LiveConnect object functionality page AND IT WORKED THIS TIME! I must confess, this is very mysterious. I will do some more checking and reply here if I can determine why it is working now (and more importantly, why it didn't work before).

    1. I created a Async BPEL process in JDeveloper and in the same project I put my servlet code and html part when I deploy it on the server and ascess it the welcome jsp is displayed when I click submit on wecome.jsp it forwards to servlet and there the error originates .
    2 If instead I deploy the BPEl process seperately and the try to access the BPEL process using my JDeveloper java code I don't get any error it works fine.
    3 I have included config and schema folders in source path . wf_client_config.xml,user-properties.xml and wf-config.xml is also present in the source folder.
    4 Along with this the jars needed have been also added.
    So when I deploy the BPEL process created in 1 above from Jdeveloper it creates a .ear in j2ee\home\applications and the deploys it .This .ear doesn't has any .class files .
    I take bpelclasses.jar from the .jar which is created when I compile the project and put it in the j2ee\home\applib folder and made an entry for it in the server.xml file.After this it is able to get .class files.
    If there is any alternate way to do the same thing kindly tell me .
    Thanks
    Pranay

  • Java.lang.IllegalStateException: duplicate Id for a component

    Hi everyone,
    please I'm really having a serious issue on the duplicate id for a component in view.
    I have a page of which I used the <jsp:include> tag to add to some pages of my application.
    The page have the following code snippet in it
    <%@taglib prefix="f" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"%>
    <%@taglib prefix="h" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"%>
    <%@taglib prefix="a4j" uri="http://richfaces.org/a4j"%>
    <%@taglib prefix="rich" uri="http://richfaces.org/rich"%>
    <f:subview id="footerView">
          <table width="80%" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1">
          <tr>
              <td>
                   <h:outputLink id="homeLink" value="#{facesContext.externalContext.requestContextPath}/index.jsf"

                        <h:outputText value="Home |"/>
                    </h:outputLink>
              </td>
             </tr>
          </table>
    </f:subview>The problem is that I always get this exception :
        java.lang.IllegalStateException: duplicate Id for a component footerView:homeLink
         org.ajax4jsf.application.AjaxStateManager$TreeStrutureNode.apply(AjaxStateManager.java:326)

            .........This exception always occurs whenever I tried invoking an action or event call in like the ones listed

          <h:commandButton type="submit" value="Click Me"/>Yet there is no other component in view with the said id "footerView:homeLink".
    So I'm really at a loss on what to do.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, I have the same issue.
    In my case I have a page that includes one page with richfaces components and if another link is clicked, it includes anotherone without richfaces.
    But both included pages contain some identical subpages.
    Everytime I call the page with the richfaces components and then the other one I get
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: duplicate Id for a component webSourceSetupForm:executionTab:executionTable:executionDayList
         org.ajax4jsf.application.AjaxStateManager$TreeStrutureNode.apply(AjaxStateManager.java:442)
         org.ajax4jsf.application.AjaxStateManager$TreeStrutureNode.apply(AjaxStateManager.java:464)This worked fine before I added richfaces....
    The id is even different in both cases. in on it is webSourceSetupForm:executionTab:executionTable:executionDayList in the other jdbcSourceSetupForm:executionTab:executionTable:executionDayList
    Did you find a solution to the problem?
    Anyone has any idea?
    Thank you,
    Mathis

              Sorry, I didn't look very closely - the exception is for

              Is there anything wrong with it? What service pack are you

    Please help to suggest me. How should I do to let out this error?
    Thanks

    many people use the two interchangeably, though technically it can mean something different.
    What you get back from a call to newInstance() is the same as what you'd get when using the new keyword and no constructor arguments, a reference to an instance of a class (there are other ways to dynamically create an instance using other constructors).
    "Creating a class object" technically means loading the class which causes a Class instance (so an instance of the class Class) to be created for that particular class, making the class available to the JVM for instantiation of instances.
    newInstance() and its sisters are useful for when the class to be instantiated is not known (or even doesn't exist) when compiling the class that needs to instantiate it.
    This is of course the case with JDBC. The people creating the JVM can't know what driver classes will be out there at some point in the future (and if they did know and have access to all of them in the past it would still be foolish to have them all hardwired into the JVM).

  • Duplicate class definition error while invoking EJB from ADF project

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper TP3 and facing the following problem.
    I have built an EJB project and am ran them successfully in the embedded OC4J via a standalone java program.
    Now I created another project with ADF capabilities and when I tried to ping the EJB i get the following exception
    The application named, current-workspace-app, could not start due to an error.
    duplicate class definition: javax/faces/context/FacesContextFactory Invalid class: javax.faces.context.FacesContextFactory Loader
    This is happenning due to class conflicts between javaee.jar and trinidad-impl.jar/adf-richclient-impl.jar.
    Is there any way of bypassing this class loader issue?

    Hi,
    actually I didn' try the JNDI lookup but used resource injection instead
    In a JSF managed bean I use
    @EJB Ejb30SessionFacadeLocal myLocalInterface;
    public SortableModel getTableModel() {
    List rows = new ArrayList<Employees>();
    rows = myLocalInterface.queryEmployeesFindAll();
    this.tableModel = new SortableModel(rows);
    return tableModel;
    Its a EJB 3.0 session bean that accesses a Local interface. However, if the remote is on the same server then I would think that using @EJB Ejb30SessionFacadeRemote myRemoteInterface; does similar

    I am deploying an ear file which also has a war file and all required libs and jars in it.
    Thanks in advance.

    First of all thanks for the reply,
    Your reply resolved my issue but now I am facing different error at deployment as given below.

    My EAR structure is like this,
    EAR
    -meta inf
    -jar's
    -war
    - web inf
    - classes
    - lib
    The classes in war's "classses" directory needed to access some classes in jar's of ear's root directory.
    since I had first bundled these jars again in lib directory of war's web inf, I deployed it sucessfully but at run time
    It gave me previous errors that was solved by first reply (due to duplicate jars), now since I have deleted those
    duplicate jars, It gives me above error.
    Please help, I have stuck here for a long time now.

    I think there is conflict with a class in the system classloader an one into jasperserver.war. Maybe It is due to a diferent implementation of Spring framework of WebLogic and jasper reports. Check if jasper spring version matches weblogic spring version.

  • Java.lang.LinkageError when executing a CT mapping

    Hello,
    I'm trying to execute a simple LCT_SQL_TO_SQL_ROW_BY_ROW CT mapping which transfers data from a DB2 table into an Oracle table.
    It deploys OK, but execution fails with the following stack:
    File "<string>", line 133, in ?
    java.lang.LinkageError: Class sqlj/runtime/ref/DefaultContext violates loader constraints
    I have supplied the DB2 JDBC file db2jcc.jar file to the Control Center Agent, which can find it OK (when I remove the JAR file the error changes to a class not found).
    Also, db2jcc.jar is the only one in the CLASSPATH which contains class sqlj/runtime/ref/DefaultContext
    Does anybody have any ideas what steps I should take next to find out what's going wrong?
    I'm on OWB 11.2.0.1, with OC4J 10.1.3.3, deployed on Linux

    David, thanks for your reply.
    I did originally follow the instructions in the documentation but the problem was that I had added the extra argument to the wrong java call in the ccastart file (there are 3, and it's the last one in the file that needs to be modified).
    You can also copy-and-paste from the HTML documentation but you need to get rid of the extra spaces that get added.
    Cheers,
    Ian
