Getting other admin consoles onto another admin console

The admin console is very important.
I want to be able to access all of my ldap servers admin consoles through all of my other ldap servers consoles.
I am currently running 5.2, patch 3 on solaris 8. I have about 12 ldap servers in total. I want to be able to administer any server console from any console. In other words, on my ldap01 admin console, i would like to see in the directory tree listings for ldap02...ldap10 and be able to access them in the same manner.
What does this encompass? I think it has to do with modifying the config dse.ldif. But what portion of the ldif file is responsible for viewing other ldap servers? I am not to sure.

The correct way to do it would be to (if you get to do it all over again) choose just one config server when installing additional Directories.
Next best thing to try is below (I remember getting this to work a long time ago, so you might have to muck around a little)
1. Export ou=<AdminDomain>.com,o=NetscapeRoot from each of the config branch, merge the files.
2. You can import this big file into all of the config instances or import it into one config instance and replicate the instance to all other servers.
Assuming that there is network connectivity from each of the admin server to the other servers in the topology, you should be able to see all the DS/Admin servers on every server. If each of the server has different passwds than what was used to enter the console, you might have to enter the correct one when a particular server is clicked
Since this is messing with o=NetscapeRoot branch, all precautionary measures are applicable

I have backed up one of my Macs with Time Machine, but that Mac has failed and I need to get some files from that backup hard drive onto another one of my Macs. Is there an easy way of doing this? (When introducing an external hard drive to a new/different Mac in the past they always had to be initialized, which wiped the hard drive.)

yes, connect the TM drive to another mac, control-click on TM in the dock and choose "browse other TM disks". this will let you browse those backups and restore what you want where you want to.
you can also run Migration Assistant to import all users and user data from the TM backup onto the other mac but this may be more than you need.

Getting my itunes library onto another computer?

just bought my daughter the intel based imac but all itunes are on my computer and i can't get them onto hers...any ideas?

have you used these instructions ?
you can connect your machines via firewire. start your Mac while pressing the T key on your keyboard. that will start it up in +target disk mode+. it will appear on the desktop of the new Mac as a regular HD. now move the iTunes folder using the instructions linked above.

Problems starting OSB 10.1.3 getting to Admin consoles AppsAdapter issue

Using OSB 10.1.3
Have a problem when starting my OSB server after rebooting the server machine.
Any suggetsions from how to recover from this kind of problem since it pervents me from getting to the Administration console? Here is the error I get. I undeployed AppsAdapter and redepoyed but it fails at activation with the below errors:

I don't have AppsAdpater deployed. Whenever tried deploying the AppsAdapter throught console and giving the deployment order higher than DBAdapter to gives the above error. Tried several times but always the above error. Don't know whats causing the issue. Restarted the servers/cluster cleared the cache but no luck.
In sbconsole proxy service testconsole also shows errors don't know if it is related to AppsAdapter.
Just curious isn't AppsAdapter used for connecting to Oracle Apps or what is it used for. Just wondering what if I don't deploy AppsAdapter.

Not getting Admin Alerts while other Admins are

I installed Spiceworks a while back but didn't really use it much. Now our organization is expanding and I've added a couple more admin users. That's when I realized that I no longer am receiving any Admin Alerts. The other two Admins are getting them just fine. I'm assuming at one point I disabled alerts for myself since I wasn't using Spiceworks, but now I can't figure out how to turn them back on. Everywhere I look it appears the alerts are enabled for my account, but I'm still not receiving any while the other admins do.When I go to settings -> user accounts, my notify is set to all.When I go to settings -> monitors & alerts, I see my name at the top along with the other two admins "will receive an email alert for all monitors....", but only the other two admins are getting the alert.I'm obviously missing something, I just don't...

Having the exact same problem. Tried Apple support multiple times and all they suggest is to remove and the add the account again. Which doesn't fix it.
Here is a possible workaround. Google exposes a tool that lets you choose which calendars to expose via CalDav: https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect
I've deselected all but my own calendar, which I would think solves this. Now of course you can't see the other calendars in CalDav apps, but that's better for me than the eternal alerts.

Unable to get the admin object for the CsContainerAdmin service

Hi,
On AIX, we deployed XIR2 SP2 --> XIR2 SP3 --> SP3 Productivity Pack.
The Conection server does show up on the server list in the CMC, but on trying to access this server, it throws an error" Unable to get the admin object for the CsContainerAdmin service"
Tried to manually create another Connection server, same result.
Is this an issue that is addressed by a later FP?

Were you able to resolve this issue? I am facing the same issue with almost every BOE 11.5 SP3 server on Windows.
For example, the Input file server says this -
"Unable to get the admin object for the FileServerAdmin service for server Input.BOCMSMSGT1.fileserver".
Getting the same error on WebI Report Server as well -
There was an error while retrieving data from the server: Unable to get the admin object for the WebiServerAdmin service for server BOPROCENG1.Web_IntelligenceReportServer.webiserver

Can't get past Darwin console

I just installed some Quicktime add-ons, and I restarted my Mac. It goes to a Darwin console, I can log in to the console, if I exit, it takes me back onto the startup user menu, and if I select my user account, I'm right back into Darwin, being prompted to login.
I've never used Darwin. How can I get past this console and onto my graphic interface/desktop?

The first thing to do is to look at your logs, to see the cause of being unable to start up. But rather than point you at some other threads, let's do it from scratch here. You may want to print this post out, preferably in a largish mono-spaced font.
Since you are able to log in at the prompt, this simplifies things. After logging in, let's look at the system log—type carefully, spaces and punctuation are important:
tail -20 /var/log/system.logThis command combination looks at the last 20 lines of your log which should be enough.
Look especially for messages saying something like "login authorization failed", "exiting to console" or something similar. Copy the lines above that and post them here. If you don't see this specific message, post some of the lines at the end of the log.
We'll take it from there when I see your output.

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you. Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices. See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

Here's one method to reset the password without the install disc:
1. boot computer and hold the "apple" key and the "s" key.
2. wait for terminal show
3. release keys
4. type without the quotes: "/sbin/mount -uaw"
5. press enter
6. type without the quotes: "rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
7. press enter
8. type without the quotes: "reboot"
9. press enter
This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.
Also, without the discs, look at Mac OS X Tip - No Password, No Root, No CD? No Problem.

Here is a way to get around not knowing the admin password on Macs.
To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
   1. Reboot
   2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
   3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
          * mount -uw /
          * rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
          * shutdown -h now
   4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!

The scenario is that when we do a job as opposed to our regular contract work, at a large nationwide retailer, their accounts people want the shop's stamp, as proof of the work being done.
Currently the 'paper' service report is just stamped. For the regular contract work, whoever signs the service report just uses their finger to sign the report, on the iPad.
On a PC the shop could just set up an electronic signature as their 'shop stamp', but the iPad is another story.
I am having a vision of ink stamps all over the iPad screen. LoL
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and delete any Acrobat folders that have been created, then try again. Be sure to log in as the administrator and disable anti-virus when you have problems like this.

Start up of the operating system disc that matches your system (hold the C key whilst starting up) then choose utilties->reset password from the dropdown menu at the top.
Add a new password, reboot, voila.
BTW If you're using 10.5.8 you're in the wrong forum - thats Leopard not Mountain Lion - probably why you got no replies until now.

That issue can be caused by an extension (possibly a mouse gesture extension) that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
