Getting Process ID of (running) applet

Using *do shell script "ps -x"* I can get a "list" of PID's. If there is sufficient identifying information in paragraphs of that "list," it's easy enough to get the PID I want. For example, if Safari is running, then its PID is the result of this:
set A_ to do shell script "ps -x" -- as string
repeat with i_ from 1 to count paragraphs of A_
set Par_ to paragraph i_ of A_
if Par_ contains "safari" then set PID_ to word 1 of Par_
end repeat
This works because "safari" is prominent in one paragraph of the result returned by the do shell script command. If the goal is the PID of an applet I wrote, however, the problem seems to be identifying a prominent word that corresponds to the applet; in different instances, I have found that
• The applet name shows up in a paragraph of A_ (that's easy to work with)
• The word "applet" shows up in a paragraph of A_ (that's easy to work with also but only if I know there's only one possible applet running -- otherwise it's ambiguous).
• Nothing in A_ is identifiable to me as being related to the applet -- yes, there usually are unidentifiable paragraphs, maybe several, and one might be one related to the applet. Or the applet information might be totally absent.
First, it's not clear to me why I get different results (as above) for different applets. If I could ensure that the applet name shows up in A_, my issue would be resolved.
I've spent some time with "man ps" in terminal, but all I got from that was that ps is a command with myriad options. I probably missed the pertinent option, but is there such an option?
Ideas, or another approach? Thank you.

Depending on what command you are running you can get multiple results - for example, if you perform a grep on the results you will have processes from the shell and grep in addition to your process. You can have processes with the same name (applet), but you can match their path to your applet:
<pre style="
font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
font-size: 10px;
font-weight: normal;
margin: 0px;
padding: 5px;
border: 1px solid #000000;
width: 720px;
color: #000000;
background-color: #DAFFB6;
overflow: auto;"
title="this text can be pasted into the AppleScript Editor">
set myPath to POSIX path of (path to me)
repeat with anItem in paragraphs of (do shell script "ps -x")
if anItem contains myPath then
display alert (first word of anItem) message anItem
exit repeat
end if
end repeat
</pre>

  • Entry not getting processed

    I have an Non recurrening Multiple Entries allowed element to an assignment which is not getting processed when i run payroll.
    Please help
    Thanks

    This is to ensure that results generated by the future payroll runs are correct. Lets take a simple eg.
    You have a pension element which would be 10% of Gross Pay_YTD.
    Run Payroll for Jan (Gross Pay) = 1000 -> Pension = 100 (10% of 1000).
    Run Payroll for Mar (Gross Pay) = 1000 -> Pension = 200 (10% of 2000).
    Run Payroll for Feb (Gross Pay) = 1000 -> Pension = 200 (10% of 2000 as _YTD of Feb does not account  March figures).
    In the above case the Payroll Run results generated by March would be incorrect.
    So once you run Payroll for March, you can not run payroll for Feb. If you require any additional payments to be made in Feb (after Payroll for Feb and March are processed), you can run Retropay to bring forward the entries to next Open pay period.

    I have Lookout 6.5 running with Windows 7, the process has been running for about 2 months with no problems, but today the Citadel stopped working!
    How could this have happened and what can I do to get it running again?

    Didnt realize there was a response, late getting back to you.
    Save your process files outside of the NI progam directory (you should have external backups already right ).  THey should not be deleted.
    Any customizations to the lookout.ini and lookout.sec file may be lost.

  • Problem with running Applets in JDEV 10G Preview

    Our Jdeveloper project has a default run target which is an Applet HTML page.
    Sometimes when a you click Run/Debug the project runs in Applet Viewer and sometimes it spawns an OC4J process and runs it in the container. It seems the execution of our project has a mind of its own. You can run/debug the same project on different developer PCs and have different execution behavior.
    How do you configure the execution environment for applets?
    If possible, it would be nice to be able to create multiple execution profiles so that we could have this applet run in OC4J sometimes and in AppletViewer other times. But it does not seem like you have control of this under the project properties.
    Thanks,
    Paul Manning

    Hi Paul,
    In the 10g preview, the code that launches applet viewer has first crack at whether it should "run" your html file. If that code thinks it should not launch applet viewer, then the code that launches OC4J gets a chance. The applet viewer launcher looks at the contents of the html file and looks for the <applet> tag. Is it possible that the contents of your html file is changing in such a way that my applet viewer launcher code isn't able to find the <applet> tag? If so, can you possibly send me your html file, or describe the applet tag(s), so that I can improve my side? I'd really appreciate it.
    In the near term future (the 10g release), when the run target can be started in different ways (like your applet html), the user will get to choose which way when he/she clicks run/debug. If you use the context menu, the run and debug items will lead to a pull-right submenu that lists all the choices. However, if my applet viewer launcher code doesn't find the applet tag in your html file, you won't see applet viewer in the list of choices.
    In the long term future we will support real multiple execution profiles.

  • Schedule lines are not getting generated during MRP Run

    Schedule lines are not getting generated during MRP Run. I have maiantained source list for the material with proper validity date and also maintained scheduling agreement . MRP relevvant Indicator , I have marked - 2 which means -Record relevant to MRP. Sched. lines generated automatically.
    Still I am not able to get schedule lines and instead of that *Purchase Requisitions* are getting generated.
    Can any one help me and suggest me what to be done in this case .
    Thanks & Regards ,
    Nirmalya

    Dear,
    Welcome to SDN,
    In transaction OMDT you have to enable the indicator create schedule lines
    In MD02 MRP control Prameter here select the Delivery schedules -3- Schedule line. Processing Key as NETCH and Planning Mode - 3 delted and recreated.
    Maintain source list ME01, in that put MRP indicator as '2' i.e. schedule lines via MRP.Put your agreement no in that.
    If u run MRP properly u will get schedule lines automatically in ME38.
    Make the schedule agreement, make it source relevent in the source list make is FIX and MRP indicator as 3.

  • I have updated my iTunes to the newest version, 10-25 on a windows XP system. Now my java virtual machine is not working and I need it to run applet window. My Java is also newest version. What can I do to fix/repair my issue?

    I need help with java on windowsXP after updating iTunes to the latest version. My java will not work and I get error message need java virtual machine to run applet window. Did not have this problem prior to the iTunes update.
    Please help, Thanks

    If your library was working on your computer and then popped up empty all of a sudden then this might be what you need...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
    Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
    See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
    When you get it all working make a backup!

  • How to Get In & Out of Match, Get your Downloads and Run

    How to Get In & Out of Match, Get your Downloads and Run
    So you have read the marketing hype, and are thinking what you really want is to pay for the service to upgrade your low quality bitrate files to a bit better 256KBPS rate easily, as don’t fancy rebuying/ reimporting or other method
    This guide should show you the fastest route to achieve you upgrades
    It assumes you’re working from your main music library, and know something about IT, and have <25k of music files
    Backup your music files
    If you know how to do this, its simple right – so once done then move to step 2, if not read below so you don’t blame me for a loss
    Transfer Hardware
    your choice the transfer hardware, suggest offline harddrive via USB3.0 (blue USB connector/eSata/ 1494b/1GB NIC/etcetera but your call
    If you use USB2.0/ 100MB NIC/1394a or other lower transfer method, accept the time hit
    Don’t use Time Backup/local disk backup software unless you have RAID 5 setup or better (and if wondering what that is, you almost certainly don’t then)
    Don’t use  internet backup service unless you live next door to the hosting company, with stunning internet connection to envy 99.9% of the human race, remember this is the fast method folks)
    Transfer Software
    I am assuming you know how to do a copy n paste/ robocoby/xcopy/drag n drop or whatever method turns you on via finder/explorer/cmd window ect
    Caveat #01: If not sure how to do above, then stop now as you are not IT literate ready for this
    Find your music files and back them up
    Now keep the computer running, preferably with nothing else running from this point for ease of use bar an active internet connection, and power saving switched off
    If you know where the files are great, backup the files, but some don’t so for them as below
    Caveat #02: if you don’t know how to find them your most likely on default settings, or sitting with a legacy from a past upgraded machine - below should help but you might want to stop now if you have never been curious about the location before
    Within iTunes , go to [Edit/Preferences/Advanced] and note down the location shown for Itunes Media Location
    In the same location of preferences, hit [Keep iTunes Media Folder organised] and let the application do its stuff.  You will end up with the location in 1ciii a ready to copy location which for simplicity of topic, copy the whole folder and its subfolders.  You may end up with some extra copies of music files (an iTunes safety mechanism, but it won’t show in the folder location, and we can ignore later on)
    Enable Match (after paying for the service)
    Run Match
    Accept that the Apple iTunes process is not perfect, may crash/stop/pause and reboots will be needed, and we can move on so to speak. Key here is you cannot do an unattended script or assume no end user interaction needed L
    Turn on iTunes Match, notice the new ITunes Match on the left hand sidebar, click it, then hit the Start button – if it works and you eventually get to STEP 3 perfect.
    If it fails before getting to STEP 3, reboot and restart
    If this still fails to get to STEP 3, then create a new iTunes database (browse forums on how to do), read your media files from the location in 1civ
    Stop MATCH  (the upload process only, not the service)
    Once STEP 3 starts, CLICK STOP - ASAP, as all this does it upload data, and you don’t want to do this, just get your upgraded files (remember the title of this entry your reading!)
    This also avoids future issues with Album art lost
    Delete Matched low bitrate files
    Create a NEW SMART playlist, with two criteria
    Show all files with bitrate is less then 256
    Show all files where iCloud status is MATCHED
    In the new playlist, click it and it shows the files we want to blow away.
    Click Edit / Select All then
    Click ctrl in windows/apple  (cmd) logo in mac, and press delete button, ensuring you do NOT tick the delete from iCloud Option.  Now want a few mins for it do do its stuff.
    Download Upgraded BitRate Files
    In the same location as 5, reselect all, and right click, and select the option to download all, and off it goes
    On the lefthand sidebar in iTunes, click Downloads, and you will then see in the middle bottom screen an option for simultaneous downloads (select it)
    Your done Just let the app now do its stuff. I would ignore the message saying you can get on with other things, and use anther machine, preferably not using the same internet connection.
    Optional Steps:
    Click randomly from the Itunes/Matched/256KBPS listed files, and play them.  Not all the files, one every 30 or so, and just the start, then last few seconds to check not dead or corrupt files.
    Update your Step 1 backup with the new files, which is going to take up more space, guess at 40%.
    Kill your iTunes Match account (both the recurring automatic subscription, and  the account if not continuing to use the store part of iTunes)

  • Can I change a process flow at run time??

    Hello everybody,
    I work in Oracle BPMS 11.1.1.5. I need to change a process flow at run time due to changes in the business logic, I mean add, delete and modify tasks, navigation flow, etc. I know business rules can be modified using Oracle BPM Composer, but I couldn't find the way to modify the process flow. I have seen other BPMS, like BizAgi, for ex. that can do that. Do Oracle BPMS have that functionality? Please I need it a lot!!!!
    Regards and thanks in advance,
    isabelbernely

    Hi
    As JonPetter mentioned, you can get this and preferably get only from Support. I hope you have some license if you going to prod with this. Use that and if possible talk to your sales guy and create a support account. Then request the feature pack. The thing is, if we put it in some public shared location, it is the violation of using the oracle product. Unless someone takes risks they may upload but still its not advisable.
    Sorry

  • EXCEL.EXE process is keep running even after closing all the handles

    I am using Excel Report Instrument functions  for creating excel application and sheet,workbook after reading/writing in to excel file am closing all the handles using CA_DiscardObjHandle (handle);     even after file is getting closed m checking it in TaskManager then one EXCEl.EXE process is keep running there,pls let me know how to deal with this....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    A Kumar:
    Have you tried running the example program excelreportdemo.prj that ships with CVI?  It ends the excel process by discarding multiple handles, and it works even if you're editing a cell or have an Excel dialog open, etc.  Try running this without modification and verify that the excel process is closed when you quit the CVI app.
    Here's the Quit function from excelreportdemo.  It checks for and closes handles for the worksheet, chart, workbook, and excel application.
    int CVICALLBACK Quit (int panel, int control, int event,
            void *callbackData, int eventData1, int eventData2)
        switch (event)
            case EVENT_COMMIT:
                if (worksheetHandle)
                    CA_DiscardObjHandle(worksheetHandle);
                if (chartHandle)
                    CA_DiscardObjHandle(chartHandle);
                if (workbookHandle)
                    ExcelRpt_WorkbookClose(workbookHandle, 0);
                    CA_DiscardObjHandle(workbookHandle);
                if (applicationHandle)
                    ExcelRpt_ApplicationQuit(applicationHandle);
                    CA_DiscardObjHandle(applicationHandle);
                QuitUserInterface (0);
                break;
        return 0;

  • Cannot get java window to run at all.

    I'm using 1.4.2, and cannot get any java to run at all. It's on a Windows 2000 server, and I've rebooted it a few times. Can't even get the Java Applet window to open from the control panel. javaw.exe runs in the task manager, but that's it. Any ideas? Anything else I need?

    That's the Java Control Panel you can't open.
    Try uninstalling ALL Java versions, rebooting after each uninstall, and manually removing any directories that Java made after all are removed. Reboot again, then download a new offline Java installer file and install that. There's something in the machine that's bad.

    Hi Rupali.
    BD22 is used for erase change pointers. Why don't use WPMU ? or WPMA ? Using transaction WPMU, this
    take change pointers, and mark it like processed. I'm using WPMU, and it's  working.

  • Error in process chain when running package (data manager)

    Hello experts,
    I try to run the following how to : "move date between applications using Data Manager ..."
    Yon can find the pdf here : http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/b0480970-894f-2d10-f9a5-d4b1160be203
    I'm looking after someone who used it successfully, on my side after implementing all steps and running the package I get the message "IMMEDIATE RUN: Request to run the package on the server was successful The package is now running"
    When I look the log for the process chain, overall status of the process chain is yellow, and steps "modify dynamically" and "clear BPC Tables" are in error.
    I can't get any usefull error messages.
    If someone has an idea to have details about those errors, it will be appreciated.
    Points will be awarded, thanks in advance.

    Hello Experts,
    I am also facing the same issue with PC failing at Modify_Dynamically step....
    This process type is working fine when used  in standard delivered process chain to load transaction data.
    I tried using this variant in my cutsom chain, but it fails.
    Please suggest.....
    Thx....D

  • WSUS process is still running/ hanging up

    I made an inexperienced mistake.
    Things that I have done include:
    I have changed synchronization to manual from Auto.
    I went to automatic approvals and unchecked WSUS updates to automatically approve updates for the WSUS product itself.
    I went to Update files and languages and chose the "Do not store files locally; computers install from Microsoft Update"
    I did the following three items above within the WSUS console in options.
    After the issue occured my monitoring agent provided me with the following:
    Description: The program mmc.exe version 6.0.6002.18005 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available,
    check the problem history in the Problem Reports and Solutions control panel. Process ID: 2c38 Start Time: 01cc2b5582d3395e Termination Time: 0
    Now when I try to turn on the three options I unchecked, the snapin hangs up and says the WSUS process is still running. Its been three days. This issue is still occuring and I am unable to synchronize successfully, or even get into the snapin.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

    I changed "store update on local" and now I can't make any changes on settings. It keeps saying "cannot save configuration because server is still processing a previous configuration change".
    Yep. It means exactly what it says. It's all about understanding the implication of changes to be made before making those changes.
    You choose NOT to have a local content store and now the WSUS server needs to process each and every approved update to determine whether there's a file to be removed from the filesystem and/or whether there's a EULA to be kept. This process has been known
    to run for DAYS on some servers depending on the number of total updates, number of approved updates, number of groups, and available resources on the server.
    Your only option is to WAIT for the process to complete.

  • Excluding one or some columns in output of Get-process cmdlet doesn't work

    hello
    in PS 4.0 i need a command so that the output includes all columns except for, one or two columns ?
    for example  get-process cmdlet shows seven columns. i need a cmdlet to show all columns except for handles & cpu columns.
    ( instead of running Get-process | select -object NPM,PM,WS,VM,CPU,ID )
    note: i tested the following command but it still shows handles & cpu columns in the output
    ( Get-process | select -excludeproperty  handles,cpu )
    thanks in advanced

    Bill should have also pointed out that you can change the "Types" files to adjust output permanently.  I am sure that this would save you much typing.
    PowerShell is very flexible. We can select properties with wild cards...
    get-process|select s*,c* -first 3|ft -auto
    You can adjust this as needed.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    hi jrv
    i didn't understand you first post at all:
     "have a better and more permanent solution.
    Print out put to very large wide E or F size plotter in landscape mode....
    Take scissors and cut out columns not needed.  Tape bits together.  NOw you have the results you like."
    but i undrestood your 2nd post, that nice.
    thank you very much,
    i also found this workaround:
    Get-Process | Select-Object -Property * -ExcludeProperty cpu,handles | format-table -Autosize
