Getting rid of link coloring

I've tried setting the CSS link colors to match my
background, and this has fixed the problem in Safari and Firefox
but not IE. It looks messy, thanks to the fact that the nav buttons
are non-rectangualr gifs with transparency on.
Any suggestions?

Not really. The best way to do this is to use the CSS
a img { border:none; }
in your stylesheet. Then you don't have to add anything to
any image tag.

  • Getting Rid of Standard Colored Links Around Image Links

    I have included several images on my CS4 Dreamweaver site
    that link to other pages, sites, etc. when clicked. An unexpected
    and annoying standard blue (active), purple (visited), etc. link
    border appears around the image when viewed in IE and AOL browsers.
    These do not appear in Live View in CS4. How do I get rid of this
    annoyance?

    >Who's to say what's correct and much easier?
    The W3C and the HTML/CSS experts here and elsewhere.
    >Not simple if you want some image links with border, some
    without.
    Still simple.
    >To each their own.
    The 'border' attribute is deprecated for a reason. It's not
    only old
    style, but also bloats the code, because you have to apply it
    to each
    and every image. A hundred images, a hundred 'border'
    attributes. Quite
    a waste of resources, which also makes the markup harder to
    maintain.
    With CSS you just need a single rule to give every image link
    on every
    page on the entire site the same default style, usually
    borderless. If
    you then want some links differently - nothing easier than
    that. Either
    apply a class or ID to them for individual styling or to
    their parent
    element to access an entire group of links at once, for
    example all the
    buttons in a nav bar:
    a img {border: 0}
    #nav a {border: 2px outset #F00}
    That's it. Easy, flexible, efficient. Once you've learned
    about the
    power of CSS, you don't want to miss it anymore. Deprecated
    and
    inefficient markup was yesterday (or better last century).

  • Why did Adobe get rid of 'No Color Management' option in CS5

    I use this option (in earlier CS verisons) when printing digital negatives on transparency film on my Epson 3880. There are a few work-arounds, including a printer utility from Adobe (which only works on tIff files, so it's limitied).
    But why, oh why did they get rid of this option in the first place. Did someone just decide, gee, I don't think that's a feature we want anymore in our program, so, puff, it's gone? I hate it when program 'updates' make my work harder instead of easier.

    Can you prove this with a supporting document?
    Nope...I was told this by engineers familiar with the initiative...

    ACPU and for that matter i1Profiler sends print image data (untagged I assume) through ColorSync and the print driver the exact same way as Lightroom and PSCS5 do when Application Manages Color is selected when printing. The only difference is that LR and PS do not allow you to send untagged image data.
    ACPU does send the untagged data through Colorsync, but the image data gets converted by Colorsync or ACPU to the printer profile chosen in the print driver as set up in the Print window of ACPU...so, since the document is in the final profile space of the printer, the print driver does nothing (null transform). Then you choose don't manage color in the driver. Exactly how ACPU works with Colorsync to avoid having Colorsync to an unwanted color transform isn't clear (would have to ask the engineer that wrote it), ACPU is clearly doing SOMETHING different than Photoshop and Lightroom when sending the image data to the printer.
    You can see what profile gets embedded when printing from ACPU by setting up the driver and saving a PDF and opening in Photoshop. When I printed to PDF from ACPU after setting up the driver to use Epson Glossy paper on an Epson R3000, the embedded profile in the PDF was SPR3000 Premium Glossy. Which if sent to the printer should result in a null transform. This is similar to the CS5 work around to tag an image with a color space and have that same color space set in Photoshop Manages Color and set the Printer Profile color space to be the same thus bypassing the Colorsync "generic RGB" transform. However, that work around no longer works with Photoshop CS6 (we were warned that this might happen BTW).
    I haven't tried it yet, but it's possible that you could still work around this in CS6 if you take an untagged target, assign the printer profile, then use Photoshop Manages Color with the profile being the same printer profile and then in the driver set do not color manage...actually, scratch that–I just tried that and CS6 pops a warning that "No Color Managment is not supported" when trying to print without the proper color management and to get ACPU with a link to download it. I guess Photoshop got pretty serious about disallowing this sort of printing. Heck, you can't even print to PDF.
    On the other hand, the simplest solution for me is to simply print out the target using i1Profiler...

  • Getting rid of red color cast?

    My photo has too much orange and red in it.
    In CS5, I created a new Color Balance Adjustment Layer.
    - I decreased the amount of Red within in the Shadows, Midtones and Highlights.
    - It seems like there was a bit too much blue so I decreased the amount Blue in the Shadows, Midtones and Highlights.
    1. It now seems like there is too much yellow. How do I get rid of the yellow without adding too much blue? Are there general guidelines for doing this?
    2. The steps I used are to color correct the image are:
    - fix colors using Color Balance Adjustment Layer
    - fix Levels
    - Sharpen image
    Are there any other basic edits I should consider?
    Thank you.

    Hello!
    First, I would use adjustment layers, so that I can tweak the results, and re-edit after a save (if I chose a file format that allows layers)
    If the image has areas that should be grey, I would use the neutral color eyedropper from a curves or levels adjustment layer.
    If the image has different lighting conditions in different zones, I would mask those areas, invert the mask, and re-apply another levels-curves from their eyedroppers, to adjust that other area.

    I like to have a few presets that I can just apply to a clip and tweek as needed, but I don't want them down at the bottom of the list. Alien Lab? Are you kidding me? Can I get rid of these or is there another place to save favorites? I'd like to be able to save a few audio effects and transitions.

    Nothing has changed. A stylesheet is still a stylesheet.  And pseudo-classes are still pseudo-classes.
    You need to define a set of link states (link, visted, hover, active) for each ID or class name required.
    Let's say you want to have red  links in your #header and white links in your #footer.
    CSS:
    #header  a {text-decoration:none}
    #header a:link {color:red} /**unvisited**/
    #header a:visited  {color:gray} /**visited**/
    #header a:hover, /**on mouse over**/
    #header a:active, /**on  click**/
    #header a:focus {text-decoration:underline}
    #footer a  {text-decoration:none}
    #footer a:link {color:white}
    #footer a:visited  {color:yellow}
    #footer a:hover,
    #footer a:active,
    #footer a:focus  {text-decoration:underline}
    HTML:
    <div id="header">
    <a  href="some-link.html">Link in the header</a> |
    <a  href="some-link.html">Link in the header</a> |
    <a  href="some-link.html">Link in the header</a> |
    </div>
    <div  id="footer">
    <a href="some-link.html">Footer  link</a> |
    <a href="some-link.html">Footer  link</a> |

  • I cannot get the followed links colors to work in 24 for some reason.

    I have just downloaded to v24, and now I cannot get the colors to work for the followed links on a web page. I have checked the settings on my other computers running windows 7, but those settings will not
    work on my laptop running windows 8. In my previous firefox version it worked fine, but fails in v24. Any help would be appreciated.

    Are you setting the link colours from inside the Firefox options?
    Some website have their own link colours programmed and will override your specifications.

  • Making the UI more pleasing - how can I get rid of the colors in day view?

    Hi - My calendars typically have 40 to 50 events per day (I use it for scheduling appointments). All that eye candy colored boxes gets annoying. Is there any way to convert the fully shaded boxes to just be colored outlines? I still need some color to differentiate.
    Thanks
    Len

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    In a word, no. The only means to reduce the 'eye-candy' effect is to use fewer calendars, or modify your existing calendars to that the number of colors used is reduced, effectively using the identical color for several calendars rather than using different colors.

  • Can't get rid of ShapeShifter color on toolbar

    I have had ShapeShifter for a very long time and have been basically pleased: except for the fact that no matter if I change the theme to basic apple or remove the program, I'm left with a very, very dark yellow and brown toolbar, outlines of any browser, dialog boxes, buttons, etc. It interferes in filling information into certain programs. I would like to get back to the basic Apple theme if I could without reformatting. I tried everything I could think of with no success. Thanks to all who may offer suggestions and advice. Take care, Bob

    iBook G3   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    You're cutting out your image and expecting the resultant print, where you've left your image transparent, to end up white (i.e., to deposit no color on the paper).
    I suppose this is a reasonable thing to expect, but if you really do want your image to be 100% as you command, you might want to try setting a pure white background layer (i.e., so that you don't see the checkerboard pattern anywhere), so that YOU control the color entirely.
    If this still results in a colored background, then you most likely have some color management problems on your system.  Are the rest of the colors in your print okay?  In any case, double check that you have only one entity (e.g., Photoshop or the printer driver) doing the color management.

  • Adora image slider. How do  you get rid of links?

    How can I disable the links in the images in the anything slider in the adora template or better yet, put my own links in? When I click on an image in the anything slider, it goes to a generated page. How can I put my own links to the images? An example is an online shop. Suupose I want to show products images in the slider and have each sliding image link to certain products, how can I do that? I noticed in the web app settings, the url can't be changed to an already used one. Any solutions? Thanks.

  • How do I get rid of background color in shortdesc

    Every time I remove the background color from the short.description paragraph tag, it comes back when I reopen FrameMaker. I don't want any background colors in my short descriptions.

    Ah .. FM10 and DITA 1.2 .. too bad, you're in for a bit of a chore.
    The 1.2 apps are here .. AdobeFrameMaker10\Structure\xml\DITA_1.2\
    Unfortunately, there are lots of them, and it's not immediately clear how to approach things. Opening an XML file in Frame requires a structured application in order to define the valid document model and to apply the proper formatting. The formatting is applied by an EDD, which defines the mapping from elements and associated styles which live in the template (the EDD itself is embedded in the template as well). The structured applications are defined in the structapps.fm file (of which there are two). One of these can be seen when you choose the Structure Tools > Edit Application Definitions file (this lives in the user's "app data" area), but another is at AdobeFrameMaker10\Structure\structapps.fm (this is the "core" structapps file). The two files define the available structure applications, any definitions in the user's file override those in the other file (I'm pretty sure).
    So .. when you open an XML file, Frame scans the structapps files for matching doctypes, if only one is found, that app is used. If multiple matching doctypes are found, you are presented with a dialog that lets you choose from the available apps. If you didn't select an app when opening the file, you'll need to look in the structapp files to see which one was used for your file. The root element in your file defines the doctype (as well as the Public ID). If this is a "task" topic, you'd look in the structapp files for matching apps that support the "task" doctype (if you're using DITA 1.2 you'll be looking for a DITA 1.2 task .. I'm not totally clear on how FM differentiates between the two). In my installation the DITA 1.2 definitions are in the core structapps file, but it could be in either place (or both).
    Once you locate the structure app definition, it will have nodes that define the Template, the DTD, the ReadWriteRules, and other things. You're just looking for the template though. If you're using a "task", for DITA 1.2 that's likely to  be the DITA_1.2_task structure application .. the template is located at ..
         $STRUCTDIR\xml\DITA_1.2\app\technicalContent\template\task.template.fm
    where "$STRUCTDIR" is the location of the FrameMaker\Structure folder (or possibly defined differently in the maker.ini .. but that's a different issue).
    Editing this one file will affect the formatting of future task topics you open. You'll have to do the same thing in the other corresponding topic type templates to affect all of the topics.
    In previous versions of Frame, it used the "ditabase" model for authoring and publishing. This encapsulates all of the models in one file making it much easier to maintain. This model is more parallel to the DITA model, but will be a real nightmare for people to customize. I'm not going to begin to try and explain how you'd clone these apps to make your own, although you can read a document written for DITA-FMx and DITA 1.1 that gives you the fundamental process ..
         http://docs.leximation.com/dita-fmx/1.1/?ditafmx_cloningtapps.html
    I'm hoping that I've explained this correctly .. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it myself.
    Cheers?
