Getting SQL for Prepared/Callable statement objects

Our current system is using CallableStatements (for performance) to log information to a database table. If there is an exception during this process, we want to log the SQL to a file for recovery later. Obviously, since the CallableStatement SQL statment only contains the '?' placeholders, we don't see the actual data in our logs.
Does anyone know how to retrieve the data that is inside the statement once it is put in using the set() methods? If not, does anyone know of a "drop-in" replacement that will provide access to that actual data?

  • High memory usage on JDBC 10.2.0.1.0 driver on Prepared/Callable Statements

    We are observing high memory usage for each callable/prepared stmt, using 10.2.0.1.0 JDBC Driver. The char[] in oracle/jdbc/driver/T4CVarcharAccessor was alloted 64K to 320K and grows with usage. This problem is worse with 10.1.0.2. driver which was alloted 720K byte of memory for each stmt right at the start.
    We found this by doing a JVM heap dump and analyzing the heap dump using IBM's heap analyser. Here is a snapshot of the heap dump for this object:

    Details of our platform is:
    Database - Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    JDBC Driver - Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) JDBC Drivers
    JDK - [Classic VM, Version 1.4.2] from [IBM Corporation]
    Our callable stmts are not using any of the Oracle caching facility. It is a simple call stmt with OUT parameters and the stmt is closed after each execution. However, we implement our own connection pooling and do not close the connection after each stmt.
    Is there a workaround to this? Would appreciate any feedback.

    What is happening is that each new CallableStatement you create allocates a new char[]. I would strongly encourage you to use the implicit statement cache if at all possible. That way instead of creating a new statement each time with a new char[] you will get an already existing statement and reuse the existing char[]. Closing a statement releases the char[] so if you really are closing the statements the char[]s should be GC'd.

    I am posting some simple code which should get a ResultSet from a CallableStatement object using the executeQuery() Method.
    It is returning "No RsultSet was produced"
    If I modify the code and simply output the CallableableStatement using its executeUpdate() then getString() methods it works fine. Anything obviously wrong with this bit of code? Thanks.

    Here's the stored procedure. I'm just trying to do a simple test to return multiple rows. The table has numberous records with the same id which is being passed to the function.

    I've posted the code...it's doing a select. I think the problem is that to return multiple rows I need to return a cursor. But I've run into problems with both the MS and Oracle Drivers.
    All I really want to do is to query a database using a callable statement(function in oracle) which will return multiple rows which I can process. I have been trying to do this in a servlet.
    I can do it successfully for one column from one row, but not multiple columns from mulitple rows.
    I've been searchging for some good examples and am trying different things but can't seem to get it to work.

  • Issue in Calling PL/SQL packages using callable statement

    I have the requirement of calling two pl/sql packages , After call of first package is successful , i need to pass the output of that first package as input to second package.
    Since i have called both the packages in same method of AM, first package gets executed successfully but second package doesnt get the input values required from first package and results in error.
    Looks like since commit is happening in the single session second package is passed with NULL values.
    Need suggestion for proper way of calling pl/sql packages when second package is dependant on first one:

    There are some validation that can be performed from Entity level ( EO ) , you can go through them in Jdev guide .
    It depends on the business requirement , not all validation can be performed from Entity level .

    Hello I am running a snapshot in 10g and the MMon slave process is waiting for the MTTR advisory for over 2hrs now. Does anyone know what the issue is?

    If one takes the time to read the OP's question, you can see that he states the version: 10.1. Anyway, one can infer that the question is about 10g, since enq: WF - contention is a new 10g wait event.
    But I'm curious about this event too. None of my Milsap or Lewis books mentions it, and neither does the excellent Shee/Deshpande/Gopalakrishnan. The event does not merit a mention on Metalink, nor can you find it in the 10g or 11g online docs.
    According to the naming convention of other enqueue wait events, WF would be the type of lock that is being waited on. But I have never heard of a WF lock. What could it mean?
    All I can find out about this event is that it has one parameter, name|mode.
    I am seeing it in the context of running a SQL Tuning Set cursor cache capture operation. A quick cruise through DBA_HIST_SYSTEM_EVENT tells me that this event has (almost) never arisen before on my system.
    This is my first experience with STS, which is why I'm curious about new things that come my way. Is this event causing a problem? I'm not sure. It has only been experiencing about 8 seconds of wait per 10 minute snapshot since I started running my STS capture. Nobody is complaining, yet. But as they say, Knowledge is power.
    So does anyone have insight into this mysterious wait event?

  • Get SQL for query to be displayed

    Hi,
    I'm creating a custom export tool (I've seen Denes's but I need to add some more customization to it). Is their a way I can get the SQL that is used to generate both "regular" reports and Interactive Reports (especially what the user is currently looking at). Generating the code for regular reports (including the sort order that the user is using) isn't too difficult. I've built a prototype for the Interactive Reports but it gets kind of messy and if any of the logic is changed in the next version of APEX I'll have to re-write.
    Just to be clear I know I can get the default report SQL in the apex views. What I'd like is the query for what the user is currently looking at (i.e. conditional columns, sort order, and all the IR features).

    The only way I see this working is looking into the different apex views (like you suggested), also for the Interactive Reports.
    Following views may help you: APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR, APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_CGRPS, APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_COL, APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT
    It will be indeed a bit messy as you need to look at the person who's watching the report. You'll probably need to parse some fields yourself (like the columns he sees are in format column1:column2 etc)
    Maybe the APEX dev team knows a simpler way? or is there an api?

    The following assumes that you are using ICM with an IPIVR etc (not using CVP), as the answer is different for CVP
    What you are looking for is called "Ring no answer time".  It is set in the Agent Desk Setting List tool.

    I need to know how can I pass an array of objects to PL/SQL stored procedure using callable statement.
    So I am having and array list of some object say xyz which has two attributes string and double type.
    Now I need to pass this to a PL/SQL Procedure as IN parameter.
    Now I have gone through some documentation for the same and found that we can use ArrayDescriptor tp create array (java.sql.ARRAY).
    And we will use a record type from SQL to map this to our array of java objects.
    So my question is how this mapping of java object's two attribute will be done to the TYPE in SQL? can we also pass this array as a package Table?

    3. I create a view link to create master-detail relationship for these 2 view objects.
    masterview.SourceBlock (1)->detailview.SourceBlock (*).
    4. I create a tree table using these 2 view objects with master-detail relationship.
    When I set default value for variable bindings of these 2 view objects and the matching records exist, tree table can work well. I can expand the master row to display detail row in UI.
    But I need to pass in dymamic parameter value for variable bindings of these 2 view objects, tree table cannnot work again. when I expand the master row and no detail row are displayed in UI.
    I am sure that I pass in correct parameter value for master/detail view objects and matching records exist.

    5.  What's wrong in my implementation?  I don't have no problem to implement such a tree table if using simple master-detail tables view object, but now I have to use such 2 view objects using complex SQL for my requirement and variable bindings are necessary for detail view object although I also think a bit strange by myself.
