Check -Xmx and -Xms start parameters for java in opmn.xml for the container you are workingk, as well in the Console you can change this in the Properties for the container.

  • How can a JMS Listener Notified get when a Topic Server Goes Down?

I'm in the process of looking into pub/sub model for a centeralized data source where vertical applications subscribe to a topic to get updates on person demographic information.
I was playing with the JMS topic examples and noticed that when I have a Durable Subscriber listener (java main) and the topic Server goes down. It never gets notified. When I restart the Topic server and send msgs to the topic, the Durable Listener doesn't get them.
Once I restart the Durable Listener (java main), it receives all the messages that were pending.
I implemented the ExceptionListener and it never gets a shutdown msg either. I shutdown the Topic server via Ctrl-C, Graceful Shutdown and Forced Shutdown.
Is there a way for the client listener to determine when the Topic Server went down, came backup, and restore the connection to it automatically? Or do we have to implement some type of ping mechanism on the client listener and re-create the connection ourselves?
              Thanks. Later...

    Hi Wayne,
I think the exception listener should have fired. Some comments/questions:
              - Does your app call "connection.setExceptionListener" in addition to implementing ExceptionListener?
              - Which version and maintenance/service pack are you using?
              - Is the client using the wl* "thin" client jars or the "thick" client jar?
              - Version 9.2 provides an automatic reconnection capability for consumers. This behavior isn't enabled by default due to natural side effects that some apps might not be prepared to handle (needles to say, I recommend reading the doc thoroughly).

  • JDBC read stuck if RAC node goes down

We did several tests with Java applications against our RAC DB and face a hanging application if we power off the RAC node that executes the current (long) running query.
We can see that the application receives HA-events via UCP:
    2015-01-22 13:02:11 | r-thread-1 | WARN  | o.ucp.jdbc.oracle.ONSDatabaseFailoverEvent    | NO timezone in HA event
However, the application started a query before and the query is not aborted with an exception. A Thread dump after about 7 minutes shows that the application is hanging in a socket read call:

The expected behaviour would be that a running query is aborted with an exception. (BTW: This happens if the service is taken down with "shutdown immediate". All ok for this case.)
We consider to implement custom ONS listeners [1], but we actually expect that UCP would handle such situations or lets us register strategies/callbacks for certain events.
    Our config:
    Oracle Enterprise 11.2.0.4.0 with RAC
    ons.jar 12.1.0.1
    ojdbc6.jar 11.2.0.2
    ucp.jar 12.1.0.1
    Server JRE 1.8.0_25
    Any hints appreciated.

    You're concept isn't right:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25494/restart.htm#ADMIN13178
    Overview of Fast Application Notification
FAN is a notification mechanism that Oracle Restart can use to notify other processes about configuration changes that include service status changes, such as UP or DOWN events. FAN provides the ability to immediately terminate inflight transaction when an instance or server fails. Integrated Oracle clients receive the events and respond. Applications can respond either by propagating the error to the user or by resubmitting the transactions and masking the error from the application user. When a DOWN event occurs, integrated clients immediately clean up connections to the terminated database. When an UP event occurs, the clients create new connections to the new primary database instance.
Also, take a look at these docs: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/java.112/e12265/rac.htm#JJUCP08100 ; and https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?_afrLoop=890204623685515&id=566573.1&_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.ctrl-s…
And make a test, execute  a query that took about 1 minute and after you executed, just power down the node where it is executing, to see if it will retrieve the results.

  • Getting music back after computer goes down.

The hard drive went out on my computer. I have a new one now. How do I get all my Itunes (including the ones not purchased at Itunes) music files back?

If the hard drive itself is mechanically dead (not just Windows or the computer making it appear dead) and your not willing to spend over $2000 at a platter level recovery service, then your out of luck basically, you should have made backups of your music.
If you have a iDevice, (iPod etc) there is third party software that can recover the files off of it and onto your new computer, regardless of the source of the music..
You'll have to ask at iLounge because we can't recommned software that can be used to violate copyrights here.
If your hard drive itself is not mechanically dead, you really dont know this unless you pull it out of the computer and use a enclosure or a IDE/SATA to USB adatapor cable to hook it up to another Windows PC, there are ways to recover the files.
So is the hard drive really DEAD DEAD? or is the comptuer not booting from the hard drive because Windows or the computer is fscked for other reasons (malware, dead power supply etc.)
Because if the hard drive works, I can post how to recover the files from a dead PC.

  • Sound volume goes down spontaneously

For the last few months I have had a problem on both my macbook pro and my mac mini that they both seem to get stuck with the volume going down to zero and the volume change indicator the speaker with the little boxes below it going down to muted volume and when you try to increase the volume you get one bar of volume and the second you let go of the key it instantly goes back down. I have tried on both changing out the speakers for the mac mini and used headphones on the MBP but nothing really helps. I did a reinstall of OSX on the mac mini to see if this fixes anything. I have tried just about everything I can think of and I am trying to figure out how I can get it so that this doesn't happen.

When I create my movie on iMovie it plays great. Then I try to burn it to a dvd and it doesn't play well on the dvd. It either gets stuck at parts or slows down or skips a little. I try to save it to my theatre and burn it that way. Or I have added it to my documents and burned it that way. Either way worked. Any tips, ideas, help or solutions would be very much appreciated. This is driving me crazy and i am wasting so many dvds! Thanks!

Ok then tell me this what is that DVD your having problem watching then? And what Region Code are you from like Euro is Region 2 and so on??? Could be the Region problem on the DVD doesn't match your drive Region as well?

  • Server instance is going down very frequently

    Hi,
Please help me solving one problem. The details are as follows:
Two web applications built on struts framework are running on one server. The server is SAPJ2EE 6.20 server which is running on SUSE LINUX.
I have SAPJ2EE 6.20 client interface using which I deploy these applications. Now once the applications are deployed, it runs perfect but after some time the instance of SAPJ2EE 6.20 application server goes down in linux and it remove these two application.
To make these two applications avaliable to the users I have to restart the instance of application server on linux and again deploy the applications. The behaviour of the same is very dynamic. Sometime it goes down 2 - 3 times in a day, sometime once in a day,
sometime once in 3 - 4 days and sometime once in a week.
On server I checked the logs but I didn't get any clue. The logs contains normal java exceptions like NULLPointerException, ExhaustResultSetException, IOException etc.
I guess the application is throwing some error because of which the server instance is going down and these errors are not showing in logs.( By error I don't mean exceptions, I mean errors like MemoryError etc.)
Am I thinking correct or is their any other issue? How to verify what is going wrong?
Please please please guide me on this as this is very important for me.
    thanks and regards

    Hi,
I would suggest to have look at the application server console. Do you see any OutOfMemory or any sort of Exception over there
    Please paste it here

  • How to resolve stuck threads in weblogic

    JDeveloper: 11.3
    Weblogic: 10.3
    Hi,
System Admin is complaining about the stuck threads in our ADF Application. Can some one help me in resolving those in weblogic server or at code level.
Basically, I am looking for an approach to resolve them.
    Thanks.

If you get stuck threads you should also get a dump of all running threads, indicating which threads are stuck. This is the starting point for your investigation. Try to find out which threads are stuck and what they are supposed to do.
    This should be you started.

  • Thinkpad x120e gets stuck hibernating

I recently switched to Arch from opensuse, and mostly it's working great. One issue remains though (had it in suseas well), when i try to suspend to disk the laptop gets stuck. The screen goes black, but the power light keeps blinking, and the fan continues to spin. I' ve tried this from the arch wiki
Suspend works out of the box, but hibernate may fail - the system usually hangs with a black screen and a blinking power button led. To fix this we need to modify the hibernation mode; using pm-utils is just a matter of creaing a file /etc/pm/config.d/hibernate_mode containing a single line:
    HIBERNATE_MODE="shutdown"
But that changed nothing. Is there anything else i could try?
Suspend to RAM works just fine BtW.

Not really sure what to check for in the journal. I found this from the time i tried hibernating (with systemctl hibernate, without sudo). But i don't see anything that would help me solve the problem. I hope someone can make something of it.

  • Functionalities Available if Server Goes Down?

Hello! As a structural question...... I have a web server that holds my web application (includes My Sites), and an application server with CA and all of the other services.
Suppose the web server goes down. Does that mean my users no longer have access to the site, their profile, and their document libraries?
Conversely, if the application server goes down, will my users still have access to the site, but none of the services will work? (IE. Will the site still communicate with the databases to pull documents information from their documents library; I just can't
    use search, etc.)?
    Thank you!

Suppose the web server goes down. Does that mean my users no longer have access to the site, their profile, and their document libraries?
Correct. If the server hosting the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application Service goes down then you will lose all access to the sites.
    Conversely, if the application server goes down, will my users still have access to the site, but none of the services will work? (IE. Will the site still communicate with the databases to pull documents information from their documents library;
I just can't use search, etc.)?
    Thank you!
    Again correct.
Depending on what exactly you've put on the App tier and on the WFE tier you may still have working sites. If there's a component that is needed to render a page such as the MMS or Excel Services that runs on the App tier then that page will throw an error
but the general document library pages and so on will probably still work for the most part.

    Hi,
These are not an issue but you need couple of tuning on server side.
Make sure to increase your Max permsize to 1024m in case of 64 bit or 512m in case of 32 bit.
Try to increase chunk size and chunkpool size to 8k.
    Enable tunneling on your server.
Make your min and max heap size as equal.
try to changes these settings and still you see the issue let me know.
    Regards,
    Kal

  • Threads getting stuck in reflection

    Hi,
during our nightly performance tests some weblogic instances start responding very slowly. The reason seems to be in many threads getting stuck doing reflection. The top of the stacktrace looks like this:

It happens on seemingly random instances and causes a lot of other problems afterwards (not enough threads to process new requests, used up jdbc connection pools, etc).

However, I would like to be able to control the gc pause time a bit as we have 96th percentile SLAs and the throughput collector affects more then 4% of the requests....
