Getting the app store ready for someone

Hi,
I am curretly in USA and bought an iPad for my mother that lives in Argentina.  I set her apple ID but now I can't sign in.  When I try to sign in it tell me that it cannot sign in.  Basically I want her iPad to be ready to use in Argentina with some free apps but I can't get this thing to work. Any ideas?
Thank you.

Can you get to another computer and login using the ID you created?
If true then the problem seems to reside on the iPad.
If false then there is an issue with the Apple ID.
Still think you need AppleCare's involvement but one quick idea...
If you can get access to the account on the other non-ipad machine then intentionally change the password.
Then try to use the Apple ID and changed password on the iPad.
The other thought is if you can get access on the other machine then the account is valid and your iPad is somehow messed up. Go to System Preferences and delete the account.
Again my preference is you are covered under AppleCare so verify the above with them before doing anything on the iPad. Remember when you opened the iPad for the first time the unit was linked to your mom's AppleCare account. Hitting "Restore" might be their recommendation but that is not from me as I am not that knowledgable about how the App Store/Apple ID's work.

It's not an iTunes login / password issue because sometimes one or two of the Apps will download and the others stall with the blank progress bar. The internet connection is working fine in all other respects.
Sometimes, many restarts later the downloads will complete. Is this a known bug? Is Apple working on it? Any fixes?

  • Tried to update an app and it asked for the password to my sister's Apple ID. I then checked to see whose Apple ID was logged in, in settings and it said that I was logged in. How do I get the app store to ask for MY Apple ID, not my sister's?

Tried to update an app on my phone but when it asked me to give the password for my AppleID, it was asking for the password to my sister's AppleID. I went to setting and down to itunes&app store settings and checked which AppleID was logged in, but i found that it was my AppleID that was logged in, not my my sisters. I then tried logging out and logging back in again but the app store, regardless of this, still asks me for my sister's AppleID and I don't know her password...How do I get the app store to ask me for MY AppleID password, not my sister's?

If this app was bought by your sister with her Apple ID, only her ID can update the app.

  • How do I get the App Store for Mac Pro?

How do I get the App Store?  I bought Snow Leopard 10.6.3 so that I could download Lion so that my MobileMe email account would work again.  Installed Snow Leopard and no way to get Lion because I don't have an App Store.

You need to update to 10.6.8 to be able to get the App Store, and to be able to download Lion (10.7)

  • HT204088 how to I find out the most recent deductions to my account from the app store (say, for a recent download for additional functionality on a iPad game)

How to I find out the most recent deductions to my account from the app store (say, for a recent download for additional functionality on a iPad game). Much as I try, I can't seem to get to see my account in enough detail to see what I have spent downloading apps to the ipad.

You need to punch in the passcode for any purchase right, not just for new apps??
If one of the other students, or anyone else, got access to your iTunes Store account, necessary to make any purchases, then they'd have all the information they'd need to also make in-app purchases. But an in-app purchase can only be made through the account through which the original app was purchased. Either your son bought the game (free or paid) and then shared it with someone else along with the account information (necessary to authorize the app on someone else's device), or someone else downloaded the game as well, not just made in-app purchases.
In any case, changing your iTunes Store password should now have cut off any such unauthorized activity, though of course if your son gives the new password out, you'll be back to square one.
    Regards.

  • Already bought iWork. How do I get the App Store to recognize App purchases that I've made over the past few years?

I know I'm not the only person experiencing this issue, but I can't find who else has a solution. Essentially, I've been buying Mac Apps over the past few years and using them frequently. Now the App Store exists. Awesome. But how do I get the App Store to understand that I have all those past purchases and serial numbers? I'd love to download the Apps through the App Store because it's a better system of downloading and updating apps, but that convenience isn't worth the extra $300-400 I'd spend re-downloading all those apps.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with a work around to this?
    Thanks in advance.

As Carolyn has told you, you cannot opt Apple apps that you have acquired from some other distribution stream into the MAS stream. Period. It does not work that way. It will not be working that way. And many folks have come here wanting it to work that way over the last seven months or so that the MAS has existed.
If your End User License Agreement does not allow you to install the apps that you have on your new Mac, then the only way to get it today for the new Mac is to buy it from the MAS. The MAS apps use a different type of DRM and there are no serial numbers involved, they are tied to your Apple ID. If you are not ready at this time to purchase apps from the MAS then I would remove the apps from any older Macs and install them on the new Mac to transfer your EULA there. Then when a major paid upgrade becomes available in the future opt that app into the MAS by buying it through the MAS. That should be the only way to get the app in the future, Apple no longer is issuing boxed apps, just currently selling off any of the surviving stock.

As you have 10.5.8 you need to upgrade to at least 10.6.6 to get the App Store as this was the 1st version it came with.
A workaround is to get a friend who has 10.6.6 or better to download Lion for you without installing it. You can create an App Store account on the friend's computer I think to do this. Copy the Lion installer from that computer to a USB stick or burn it to DVD and you should be able to install it on your own computer, I think. You might have to create an empty partition on your own computer first for Lion installation as I'm not sure that it will install over Leopard.

I am running 10.7.5 on an imac and I want to upgrade to Yosemite but I have no app store on my computer. Is there a way I can get the app store on my imac?

If you don't have it then you will have to reinstall Lion:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.
Then you can download and install Yosemite if your computer meets the system requirements:
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Are you on 10.6.8 or Lion? It should have been placed there automatically during the install; otherwise, simply go to your Applications folder and drag the icon to the dock.
If you're not on one of those OS versions, post back with your version.

Has anyone seen this? I just updated the app and now I can't get in.
    I don't understand.

First thing to try is delete the app. Open the Mac App Store and the status in the Purchases section should update to "Install". Click to download the full app rather than an update.

The app store icon is gone from my sons ipod.  How do I
    get the app store reinstalled?

The App Store is a default app and cannot be deleted. First make sure it has not been disabled via restrictions.  To check, head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions on the iPod and make sure there are no instructions in placing for installing apps.
Otherwise, do a spotlight search for it.  While on your iPod's home screen, swipe to the right and enter in App Store.
