Getting XML from Five Different Oracle Tables

I need to get xml like
<dataset code="123" title="" pubcode="456" minrows="0">
    <schema code="s1" /> <!-- can be one -->
    <rowset code="rs1" /> <!-- can be one -->
    <sorter>
        <!-- field can be MORE than one -->
        <field name="field1" order="o1"/>
        <field name="field2" order="o2"/>
    </sorter>
    <!-- filter can be MORE than one -->
    <filter type="filter1" value="val1" />
    <filter type="filter2" value="val2" />
</dataset>
Where each tag corresponds to a a separate table. And each attribute in that tag is a column in the corresponding table Have written below sql for same
SELECT  XMLELEMENT(NAME "dataset",
                       XMLAttributes(ds.DataSet_Code AS "code",ds.DataSet_Title as "title",ds.pub_code as "pubcode",ds.Min_Rows as "minrowss"),
                       XMLFOREST(
                            SELECT XMLElement("schema", XMLAttributes(fs.schema_code AS "code"))
                            FROM File_Schema fs WHERE fr.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code,
                            SELECT XMLElement("rowset", XMLAttributes(fr.rowset_code AS "code")) FROM File_RowSet fr
                              WHERE fr.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code,
                            SELECT XMLELEMENT(NAME "sorter",
                                        XMLAGG(XMLELEMENT(NAME "field",
                                                            XMLATTRIBUTES(fsf.field_name AS "name",fsf.field_order AS "order")
                            FROM File_sorter_field fsf WHERE fsf.dataset_code=ds.dataset_code,
                            SELECT XMLAGG(XMLELEMENT(NAME "filter", XMLATTRIBUTES(type AS "type",value AS "value")))
                                        FROM File_Filter ff where ff.dataset_code=ds.dataset_code
FROM File_Product fp , File_DataSet ds
WHERE fp.File_Name = ds.File_Name and fp.File_Name = 'abc' and ds.dataset_code ='123' ;
for which I get error like below
  ORA-00936: missing expression 00936. 00000 - "missing expression" *Cause: *Action: Error at Line: 4 Column: 28
any help appreciated

Scalar subqueries have to be wrapped in parentheses.
Also, you probably don't want to use XMLForest in this case. XMLForest requires an alias for each argument, and generates an additional element with that name.
Maybe something like this is more appropriate :
SELECT XMLELEMENT("dataset"
       , XMLAttributes(
           ds.DataSet_Code AS "code"
         , ds.DataSet_Title as "title"
         , ds.pub_code as "pubcode"
         , ds.Min_Rows as "minrows"
           SELECT XMLElement("schema", XMLAttributes(fs.schema_code AS "code"))
           FROM File_Schema fs
           WHERE fr.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code
           SELECT XMLElement("rowset", XMLAttributes(fr.rowset_code AS "code"))
           FROM File_RowSet fr
           WHERE fr.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code
           SELECT XMLELEMENT("sorter"
                  , XMLAGG(
                      XMLELEMENT("field"
                      , XMLATTRIBUTES(
                          fsf.field_name AS "name"
                        , fsf.field_order AS "order"
           FROM File_sorter_field fsf
           WHERE fsf.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code
           SELECT XMLAGG(
                    XMLELEMENT("filter"
                    , XMLATTRIBUTES(
                        type AS "type"
                      , value AS "value"
            FROM File_Filter ff
            WHERE ff.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code
FROM File_Product fp
     JOIN File_DataSet ds ON fp.File_Name = ds.File_Name
WHERE fp.File_Name = 'abc'
AND ds.dataset_code ='123' ;

  • Insert XML content  from BLS to oracle table

    Hi,
    Is there any way to send XML content from BLS to Oracle table. I tried with FixedQueryWithOuput. It works, but it has limitation, it cannot take more than 4000 character , even though the param is configured as clob in oracle database side?

    Sajjad
    This is not issue from xMII-side itself, instead this is an Oracle issue itself. This has some limitation in manipulating data in Database.
    Managing CLOBs and BLOBs in JDBC is not very simple when compared to managing small amount of data. The way the CLOB and the BLOB objects are created and managed is different than a VARCHAR(String) column. In fact, Oracle extension classes are provided to support these types objects in JDBC like oracle.sql.CLOB, oracle.sql.BLOB etc.
    The new enhancements in Oracle JDBC 10g promises to simplify the insertion and retrieval techniques for the CLOBs using the standard APIs. This document enumerates how easily the CLOB data can be handled in JDBC, by harnessing the new features of the Oracle JDBC 10g driver
    Anyway, to more get info on Oracle problems u may read  <a href="http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/jdbc/clob10g/handlingclobsinoraclejdbc10g.html">this</a>

    Experts
    I want to load data that is stored at XML file into multiple Oracle table using plsql.
    I am novice in this area.Kindly explain in depth or step by step so that i can achive this.
    Thanks in advnace.

    Hi,
    extract your xml and then you can use insert all clause.
    here's very small example on 10.2.0.1.0
    SQL> create table table1(id number,val varchar2(10));
    Table created.
    SQL> create table table2(id number,val varchar2(10));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert all
      2  into table1 values(id,val)
      3  into table2 values(id2,val2)
      4  select extractValue(x.col,'/a/id1') id
      5        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value') val
      6        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value2') val2
      7        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/id2') id2
      8  from (select xmltype('<a><id1>1</id1><value>a</value><id2>2</id2><value2>b</value2></a>') col from dual) x;
    2 rows created.
    SQL> select * from table1;
            ID VAL
             1 a

  • Upload data from excel to oracle table

    Hi,
    if i'm user and using an application and i want to upload data from excel to oracle table on button click . Is it possible by using sql loader.
    If yes then please clarify it .
    is it possible from client end.
    thanks

    Yes it is possible using SQL*LDR, External tables and ORCL Export Utility. Though I didn't try Export Utility to load the external files.
    SQLLdr sysntax:
    Create a control file.
    It looks like this
    Load data
    Infile 'source.dat'
    Into Table tablename
    Fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '"'
    {code}
    then use sqlldr command from your OS.
    {code}
    sqlldr userid/password@sid control = filename.ctl, data = source.dat, log = logname.log, bad = badname.log, discard = discardname.discard

  • Is it possible to show data from two different sql tables?

    Is it possible to show data from two different sql tables? Either to show combined data by using a join on a foreign key or showing a typical master detail view?
    I have one table With data about a house, and another table With URL's to images in the blob. Could these two be combined in the same Gallery?
    Best regards Terje F - Norway

    Hi Terje,
    If you have a unique key, you could use one of the following functions for your scenarios:
    If you only have one image per house, you can use LookUp:
    http://siena.blob.core.windows.net/beta/ProjectSienaBetaFunctionReference.html#_Toc373745501
    If you have multiple images per house, you can use Filter:

    Thank you for the response
    i am trying to load accounts back to oracle table.
    My plan is to load existing accounts in planning to a oracle table i.e PLANACNT,so when i load new accounts from oracle to planning through ODI , i can say in the source filter that load Table.column not in (select accounts from PLANACNT).
    Please suggest if there is any better method for this...my plan is to load new accounts created in oracle to planning by comparing the accounts in planning.

    For example: a box from Norton Antivirus will pop up to ask me if I want to download firefox from ______ . The line will be filled with a different site everytime (this is one site: saimei.acc.umu.se). Can I trust this?

    Yes as there is not one server but several mirrors around the help load balance the releases.mozilla.org

    Many of the mirrors are Universities and also help host for other open source stuff like various Linux distros.

  • Parse XML Elements/Attributes from CLOB into Oracle Table

    Hi!
    I have an XML file (loaded into a CLOB) which I need to parse and have each individual element and attribute inserted into an oracle table for manipulation.
    Eg: XML File...
    <PERSON>
    <PER_ID changed="1">1</PER_ID>
    <SURNAME changed="1">MARTIN</SURNAME>
    <ADDRESS>
    <STREET_NO changed="1">1</STREET_NO>
    <POSTCODE changed="1">LE3 8RA</POSTCODE>
    </ADDRESS>
    </PERSON>
    There will only ever be one address.
    From this I need to extract
    * PER_ID and related changed attribute
    * SURNAME and related changed attribute
    * STREET_NO and related changed attribute
    * POSTCODE and related changed attribute
    and insert a single record into the table below:
    CREATE TABLE PERSON AS
    ( PER_ID VARCHAR2(10)
    , ID_CHANGED VARCHAR2(1)
    , SURNAME VARCHAR2(30)
    , ID_CHANGED VARCHAR2(1)
    , STREET_NO VARCHAR2(5)
    , ID_CHANGED VARCHAR2(1)
    , POSTCODE VARCHAR2(10) );
    Any assistance/advice would be very much appreciated. I've tried using DBMS_XMLSave / DBMS_XMLStore which works great at pulling in elements (PER_ID, SURNAME, etc) straight into the table but doesn't look at the changed attributes, and I need both.
    Thanks a million in advance to anyone who can crack this!!

  • How to get data from PostgresSQL to Oracle 11g

    I have a general idea on the topic but need more information on the procedure to get data from Postgres (version 8.2 on Linux) database to Oracle 11g (on AIX Unix). Thanks very much in advance!

    You need to configure DG4ODBC (=Database Gateway for ODBC). When you install it on a 64bit OS (for example on the same machine as your Oracle database), then it requires a 64bit Postgres ODBC driver. If you install it on a 32bit machine (for example on a 32bit Linux), then you need a 32bit Postgres ODBC driver. Commonly on Unix you also need to install a matching ODBC Dreiver Manager (for example you can get it from www.unixodbc.org) when Postgres doesn't ship one with their driver.
    A note describing the DG4ODBC configuration can be found on My Oracle Support:
    How to Setup DG4ODBC on Linux x86 32bit          (Doc ID 466228.1)

  • Concatenate 2 columns from 2 different dimension tables

    Hi,
    I have 2 columns one from each dimension table.
    Column A from Dimension 1 and Column B from Dimension 2.
    In my answers i want the results as "dim1.Col A / Dim2.Col B".
    I used the concatenate function and it dint give me the results. Both the columns are Non Numeric columns.
    I use 2 fact tables in my analysis and data from both the fact tables are combined in 1 analysis.
    There are non confirming dimensions between the 2 facts and hence we used hierarchies and level based measures to overcome the issue of non conforming dimensions between the 2 facts.
    Any ideas on how to concatenate the 2 different dimension columns into the report ?
    Thanks,
    Chandra

    never mind, i did it using summary columns, thanks

  • Import from Excel to Oracle table

    I have couple questions.
    is the 20K Excel file upload limit still apply???
    I want to use APEX to upload data from Excel to Oracle, some data manipulation will be needed in the process.
    This will be a utility that will be used by users not DBAs or Developers.
    It would great if someone has an example application.
    or do you think I should use different tool???
    Thanks

    What are the steps for importing using the SQL
    developer?Steps are (assuming you have already installed XE und schema where data should be imported):
    1. Install SQL Developer
    2. Start SQL Developer
    3. Log on into desired schema
    4. Open Dialog Box "Excel Import Data"
    5. Specify file to import with options
    6. Click on OK
    7. Check in Navigator imported data's
    Done ;-)

    But we are trying to run this report in a Batch Mode for many PDF files. I need to know how to get a XML format of the PDF file that is stored in LC that was developed using Designer. Once we are able to get the XML of the PDF form it is just a scan / parse to get the relavent data.

    I am fine in storing the PDF in the LC server? How will I get the XML design (XML) from this PDF on the server?

  • " (quotes) is column values when loading data from csv to oracle table

    I am loading a data from csv file to an oracle table.
    After the data is loaded , lets suppose the value in one column is X.
    when i write a query to fetch data like
    select * from table where col='X' then it gives no output.
    On investigating it was found that the value is stored in col as "X".
    This also happens when i copy paste the value from column to some text editor ....
    i want to remove these double quotes , and also want to know why these are coming...
    Any suggestions guys ?
    Thanks
    Using Oracle 10g

    These quotes are part of your data file. Most CSV-parsers remove those quotes.
    If you are using an external table you can remove them by something like this for your access parameters
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
      TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
      ACCESS PARAMETERS
        RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE
        FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
        OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    But if you want to remove them from your existing data use this
    update your_table
      set col1 = trim( '"' from col1 )
    Note that in some CSV-files wich use an enclosing character the enclosing character is itself is used as an escape character to use the enclosing character inside a field.
    For example a field might be "Some text with ""this"" enclosed"
    To correct these fields you might use another update
    update your_table
      set col1 = replace( col1, '""', '"' )
