Glassfish with Postgres

Hi friends!
I am trying to connect an application over glassfish with postgres. I believe I need to make a persistence.xml file. With my persistence.xml I have a lot of errors.
Do you have any example of that file to connect Glassfish with a database in Postgres?
Thanks in advance!.

Thanks for your answer!.
I am trying to create a conection pool to Postgress with GlassFish. Do I need a DataSource? Yes,. of course.
Do you have any example?No, I use WebLogic, but the idea is the same. Log into the admin console and set up a data source and connection pool.

    Hi. This isn't a jdbc question, so you'll have better luck posting this to the ejb group.

  • How to monitor Oracle Glassfish with Grid Control 11g

    Hi,
    Could someone tell me how can i monitor Oracle Glassfish with Grid Control 11g ?? i think i need a plug-in but i don't know where could i download it
    I guess the information i can monitor depends on the plug-in :)
    Regards
    Carlos

    Hi Carlos,
    We do have partners that routinely write plug-ins to extend OEM. If you take a look at the EM Extensibility Exchange below, you will find various extensions that partners such as Blue Medora have written:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=34841:1:26399399216901:::::
    Please keep in mind though that between SLM and JVM diagnostics, you would have a significant amount of visibility even without the Glassfish target.

    please help and its urgent. thanks
    harish.

    Hello Harish,
    I was introduced to databases at university with postgres. I now use SQL Server 7.
    Anyway, what is the problem exactly - which exceptions are being thrown?
    I have to admit, these forums don't present code very well and it makes it more confusing to read.
    What are you inserting into your database - what is the context of your application ?
    I did notice your constructor will be treated like a method. It does not matter in this case as it doesnt do anything, but you can't have void or any return type in your constructor - it has implicit instructions to return an instance of this class when it is called. If it is empty, omit it altogether.
    I understand you getConnection() method.
    I've never used the prepared statement:
    String sql = "INSERT INTO exception_ip_list (ip_Address)" + " VALUES (?)";
    PreparedStatement pstmt = con.prepareStatement(sql);
    pstmt.setString(1, ipAddress);I assume the '?' in the sql string gets replaced with 'ipAddress' parameter variable? Are you sure 1 is the correct number - I know sql counts from 1 but java counts from 0.
    You have created statement st and haven't used it, but later created st1 ?
    For your JSP's, try
    test0.jsp
    <%@ page language="java"%> <!-- this is not needed -->
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>
    </title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form name="exiplist" method="post" action="test1.jsp">
    <input type="text" name="ip"><br>
    <input type="submit" name="SUBMIT" value="SUBMIT">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    test1.jsp
    <%@ page language="java" import="java.sql.*, Harish.*" %> <!-- this is not needed -->
    <jsp:useBean id="exiplist" scope="page" class="Harish.Exception_IP_List" />
    <html>
    <body>
    <%=request.getParameter("ip")%><br>
    Inserted: <% int i = exiplist.insertExceptionIPList(request.getParameter("ip")); out.print(i); %>
    </body>
    </html>
    Please let me know how this works,
    Darren B

  • Please Help! ClassNotFountException with Postgres & JWSDP

    Hi Java Community,
    My problem is the following: I'm trying to access a Postgresql Database from a JSP published in Tomcat (the one that is bundled with JWSDP) but the JSP is returning a "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.postgresql.Driver"
    I've tryed several ways to solve this, but none worked:
    + Setting the CLASSPATH variable pointing to the "pgjdbc.jar" file and restarting
    + Copying the "pgjdbc2.jar" file into "$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext"
    + Copying the "pgjdbc2.jar" file into "$JWSDP_HOME/webapps/foo/WEB-INF/lib"
    + Modifying the "$JWSDP_HOME/bin/setenv.sh" script to set the classpath there
    My running system is:
    Linux Redhat 8 (intel)
    J2SDK 1.4.1
    JWSDP 1.0.01
    I'm desperated and my mind is empty, any ideas?

    I'm accessing the class from a bean. But I've solved the problem, I've just copied the postgres "jar" file into the WEB-INF/lib directory of my webapp and restarted tomcat. My mistake, but thank you for your help.

  • Glassfish with NetBeans and Eclipse

    Hi,
    I have both NetBeans Java EE and Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers installed on my laptop. With NetBeans Java EE I have the installed the Glassfish and Tomcat server . Can I use/'integrate' this same Glassfish and Tomcat server with my Eclipse installation or is it advisable to install a "standalone" Glassfish &Tomcat server specific for my Eclipse environment?
    Thanks.
    Guy

    Hi!
    Yes you can integrate/use Glassfish and Tomcat with your Eclipse installation.
    For Glassfish support in Eclipse (assuming you are using Eclipse Luna) you have to install first: http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/glassfish-tools-luna
    The integration is really simple: https://blogs.oracle.com/oepe/entry/getting_started_with_glassfish_4
    Hope hits help,
    Kind regards.

    Hello everybody,

    Frank, Thanks a lot for your quick answer.
    "Maybe you should look at using database proxy users with ADF BC so you can use the J2EE authenticated user principal as the database schema to connect through. I am working on documenting this approach, which however needs some more time of writing and testing."
    Yes, that's exactly what I need!!!
    Can you give me some tips about how to do that.. Do you have any idea of when you will finish that document?.
    By the way, I'm using FORM authentication, but I don't know how to modify what’s in the “How To Support Dynamic JDBC Credentials” document, to use the J2EE authenticated user principal as the database schema to connect through.
    One of the problems is that when using this approach, I cannot get the J2EE security to redirect to the login page...
    Any help would be really appreciated

  • EJBQL "myBoolVar = FALSE" compiled as "myBoolVar=0", fails with Postgres

    Hi,
    I have an EJBQL query that contains a test on a boolean variable:
    "select... where myBoolVar=FALSE"
    This query is compiled by Weblogic as :
    "select... where myBoolVar=0"
    which works fine under Oracle and MssqlServer but fails on Postgres (which manages
    a db type "bool").
    I could define this type as int on Postgres side but Postgres doesn't accept a
    resulset.getBoolean() on an int type... Is there a way to specify on Weblogic
    side that a java type should be handled as a specific sql type?
    Thanx for the answer.
    Etienne

    Problem is Fixed !!!
    We were having this problem because IFS installation was not recognising a separate tablespace which we created for IFS, so we started using default USERS tablespace after which the installation was successful.
    Thanks.

    If I type this, without the final slash, I get request is not allowed.
    http://localhost:8080/apex40
    A note if anyone is confused, I'm not sure if it's a Glassfish setting somewhere.

    We did see this also a fix in in progress and it appears to be specific to how the glassfish is handling the case.

  • Re: TransactionRolledbackLocalException using EJBs with Glassfish

    Hi,
    I originally tried to hijack someone else's abandoned forum thread
    TransactionRolledbackLocalException using EJBs with Glassfish
    to ask my own question because it is vaguely related (there's something about "Glassfish" with both of us) but thankfully a forum moderator has split my post away.
    My question is ...
    I am running two applications on a Glassfish domain (ear and war) on Glassfish version 3.1.2.2 and finding this error occurs after running for several hours and requires a Glassfish restart. So far I have been unable to reliably reproduce this issue and a server restart only appears to be a short term fix.
    It seems that some sequence of events messes up container managed transactions within the ear. Any information or suggestions on how I could pinpoint the root cause would be greatly appreciated.

    at $Proxy267.queryWell it seems that there is some (EJB?) method somewhere called 'query' that is blowing up. I would start by putting a debugging breakpoint there and seeing which line is causing an exception.

  • Monitoring Oracle Glassfish or Generic URL with Oracle Grid Control

    How are people monitoring Oracle Glassfish with Oracle Grid Control?
    I really just need to monitor the URL right now, is the only method to setup a system and monitor a generic web test with a beacon?

    I would think this is indeed the only way to monitor the URL.
    Perhaps you could try a solution in creating your own plug-in.
    Check http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/extensions/index.html for this.

  • Can't stop GlassFish 3 with the red button on the console view

    Unlike Tomcat and JBoss AS, I cannot stop GlassFish with the big red button.
    It's enabled so that's fine.
    I press it and I get the error dialog "VM does not support termination."
    Huh. I'm sure my OS supports kill -9...
    I have to hunt around for the server view and shut it down that way. Very annoying.
    First, the button is enabled so I expect it to work.
    Second, I like being able to test abnormal termination during development by just killing the VM hard -- production isn't forgiving, neither should development.
    Where's the right place to file this kind of bug in OEPE? I could not find a link to the bug system if there is a public one.
    Eclipse Reporting (JEE+BIRT) Helios SR1 with OEPE 1.6.0.201007071726
    Happens with GlassFish 3.0.1 and 3.1

    Hi,
    The script that is used in Eclipse to start GlassFish is 'asadmin start-domain' which ends when the server is up and running.... It has a log viewer/content different than the GF log viewer.
    Terminating this script does not terminate the server...Not sure why/how the red button in the console view is enabled/disabled. Might be the standard behavior delivered in the generic server support (WTP)?
    Only the red button on the server view does the correct stop of the GlassFish server.
