Global enviroment variables for EJBs?

Hi there,
I'm pretty new to all java & java EE stuff, so bare with me if I say smth stupid :)
I'd like to know what is the proper way of setting configuration options (eg. application name, ldap connection settings, etc).
What I've found so far is the EJBContext, but the environment entries apply only to specified EJB (see sample below). I would need something more similar to the 'context-param' for web applications that applies to all EJBs ...
ejb-jar.xml
<ejb-jar xmlns = "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"
         version = "3.0"
         xmlns:xsi = "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
         xsi:schemaLocation = "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/ejb-jar_3_0.xsd">
<enterprise-beans>

        <ejb-name>ServicesBean</ejb-name>
        <env-entry>

            <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
            <env-entry-value>10.0.0.1</env-entry-value>
        </env-entry>
        <env-entry>
            <env-entry-name>ldapDomain</env-entry-name>
            <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
            <env-entry-value>mydomain.com</env-entry-value>
        </env-entry>
    </session>
</enterprise-beans>
</ejb-jar>

Thank you

You could specify an external resource in the Glassfish Admin console under: Resources > JNDI > External Resource.

  • How to set enviroment variables for Inso Filter

    Hi everyone,
    I want to convert word documents to html using CTX_DOC.Filter.According to the documentation,I know I neednot set the 'Inso Filter'in the preference when creating index,but I must set enviroment variables for Inso Filter.
    I found the following instructions for it in the 8.1.5 documentation,but I can't understand it well.Is there anyone can tell me how to set enviroments variables for Inso Filter on Windows2000 Server?(My DB version is 8.1.7EE)
    Environment Variable Locations
    All environment variables related to Inso filtering must made visible to interMedia Text. Set these variables in the following locations:
    listener.ora file. This makes the environment variables visible to the extproc PL/SQL process.
    The operating system shell from where ctxsrv server is started. This makes the environment variables visible to the ctxsrv process, which does background DML.
    Any suggestions are apreciated

    NSAPI plugins are normally configured using parameters specified in magnus.conf and/or obj.conf. What plugin requires you set an environment variable?

  • Global Application Parameters for EJB

    Hello all, I did a search for this on these forums and there are there a TON of threads of developers wanting to implement the classic Singleton pattern so that all EJB's of an application can access "Global Application Parameters". Most of these I've been reading achieve this by workarounds that breakdown at the clustering level, since Singletons won't span multiple JVMs.
    Suppose you deploy an EAR that only has EJB jars, so you don't have access to all the convenience of the web tier (context parameters, context Initialization, etc.), so there is no way for your EJB's to detect/intercept an "Application Startup" event and load any necessary values into a Global Application parameter repository.
    This seems such a widely demanded functionality that I wonder if there now a "best practice" way to achieve equivalent of the Singleton pattern in the EJB world that works nicely in a clustered environment?

    I have the same problem
    Thanks

  • Global package variable for the current rendering item

    I like to define a generic plsql function which handles all the page 0 item conditions. I will place this function call in all page 0 item conditions.
    Now I need a global (htmldb_application) package variable which I can use to identify for which item condition the function is executed.
    Which global variable can I use for this purpose or is there an other way to do this.
    I dont't want to give the the item names hardcode as argument of the function.

    Scott,
    I will try to clarify my question.
    I have lot of page 0 items.
    I like to give every item the same plsql condition such as htmldb_pck.show_item or
    htmldb_pck.show_item('#CURRENT_ITEM#').
    In my own htmldb_pck.show_item function I have all the display coding of the generic items.
    My problem is that I have to know from which item the function is called.
    Thanks,
    Fred.
    May be this is something for an enhancement. Not only for the items, but also for the buttons, tabs, tab sets and report columns. So you know in generic pl/sql from which object the pl/sql is called.

    I m facing a problem during the last steps of <b>IDES 4.7 on Oracle DB</b> installation: The setup failed to read the HOME environment variable. When I check the OS (<b>Win XP</b>) I did not find it, please can you give me the value of the variable then I can add it manually.
    It ll be great if you give me even the other environment variable.
    Kind regards,

    Here the error I got:

  • Use global Variable for Formatstring

    Hello
    I wanna use a global variable for a format string. see picture. But I don't work.
    Can anybody give me an idea, why it won't work?
    Thanks a lot!!!

    As others said, the problem is not the global.
    See attached a picture of how to do what you want. Since the Format String is unknown at edit time, you must provide the types to all inputs that are not DBL.
    From your example, the while loop has been coded exactly like a for loop. It can be replaced with a for loop with auto-indexing, unless you really want the local variable to be update at each iteration every 50 ms. This delay is not necessary unless the computed array is huge and you want to leave some CPU time to other code in your application. Even then you can enter a delay of 0ms to force to swap to other tasks.
    I don't know what your INT>BOOL VI does but using Scan from String you can read a number directly into a boolean. The number i
    s rounded to an unsigned integer and 0 is False and >0 is True.
    For example you scan a string for a boolean with format string %d.
    "0" --> False
    "24" --> True
    "-18" -- False (coerced to unsigned = 0)
    You scan a string for a boolean with format string %f:
    Negative number up to "0.5" --> False (coerced and rounded to 0)
    Number greater that 0.5 --> True

  • Shall I use global or local variables for my program?

    Hello,
    1) I am using 2 while loops in parallele. One 50 ms timed and the other one 1000 ms. The 50 ms one gets data from a sensor. I want to display that data every 1000ms in the 1000 ms loop. I have used global variables to do that. Should I better use local variables?
    2) This question deals with the VI I have attached
    a)  Shall I initialise the "  Quitter programme " global variable in the main VI aswell ? Or is what I have done enough?
    b)
    I want the sequence to continue ( finishes the last sequence and goes back to the first one without any delay if possible ) until the user presses Quit. I am concerned about the " wait until " icon of the exterior main while loop ( set to be 250 ms at the moment ). This time, 250 ms, is the time it takes between the end of the last sequence and the beginning of the first sequence? Is that right? Once u start the first sequence, the while loop doesn’t do anything until the end of the last sequence ( my 3 sequences can take several minutes ) ?
    Hope I am clear… lol
    Don’t hesitate to ask any questions if not clear enough
    thanks a lot,
    David

    Bonjour Marc.  You will definitely have a race condition because you are writing to the global in a parallel loop.  You could click the stop button in the quitter program, then before it is read in the main loop, the lower loop writes a false to it, and your click is lost.  Why do you want a separate quitter program?  You may have a good reason but it isn't clear here.  I would not use globals or locals for this, just put your stop button on the main vi.  You already have one, so why do you want another one in another vi?  If you must do it this way, eliminate both lower loops.  They are not necessary.  The global default is set to false, so when you run the vi, it is false.  The button mechanical action is set to latch when released, so after clicking it will turn true until the main vi reads it, then it will automatically turn false.  So you don't need the lower loops to keep writing false to it.  If you just eliminate both lower loops, it will work fine.  The only purpose I could see for the quitter vi is to have one button cause several vi's to stop.  Instead of doing it this way, put one stop button in your main vi, create a reference (right click - create - reference), and wire this reference into all subvi's that the main calls.  The subvi's must be changed to accept the reference and use it.  This would be a much better method to close all vi's with one button.
    You could also get rid of the sequence structure (it hides code and makes it more difficult to read).  Just put all your code side by side.  The error in/out wire will ensure that the execution order will be fixed, just like in your first sequence with the open file and write file functions.  Just wire the error out of the write vi to the second write vi, and then the error out of the second write vi to the close vi.  No sequence structure needed, and all your code is viewable on one screen.

    In short, I want the code within:
    ----- form1.#subform[0].Item1Cost::calculate: - (JavaScript, client) -------------------------------
    ...to be able to access the variables I have created in:
    ----- form1.#subform[0]::initialize: - (FormCalc, client) ------------------------------------------
    (I have assumed that this is where I would store Global variables)
    At this stage, the global variables cannot be accessed with the configuration above.  The only was I can get this to work is to cut and paste the global vairables into each form1.#subform[0] item, which of course defeats the purpose of global variables!  I plan to have many more items so would not want to duplicate the global variables for all of them!
    Can somebody show me how to do this?
    Any help is very much appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hi MorisTM,
    Thanks for the reply!
    Yes, I saw that option (I should have mentioned I already knew about it), but was wondering if there is a way I can do this via code.
    There are two reason I want to be able to do it via code (only one of which may be valid):
    1) I can automatically generate my pricing code form another inhouse app.
    2) I am hoping that later on once I get this working I will be able take it a step further and get the data directly from a MySQL database!
    Cheers though!
    Any other suggestions?

  • How to get current directory and enviroment variables

    Hello,
       1.- Is there a global variable to get the actual (project, where is DSB and DSQ files) directory?
       2.- Is there a way to get User directory like reading enviroment variables from Operative System?
    Thanks in advance.
    PD: I'm using Dasylab12
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Yes, use System Strings
    For example, ${DATA_FOLDER}.
    The easiest way to get the list is to right click and select Global Strings. The bottom half of the dialog box lists system strings, including date, time, the name of the worksheet, with or without path, the DEFAULT folders for worksheet, data, other, black box, etc.

  • How to substitute a bind variable for a IN condition?

    Dynamically I am setting the WHERE condition for one of my blocks using SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY Built in. The condition that I am attaching has two IN conditons..
    For Eg.,
    contracts_tbl.status_col IN ('NEW', 'OLD', 'EXPIRED', 'OPEN')
    AND contracts_tbl.id_col IN (1, 2, 3, 4)
    The number of choices in the IN condition will vary depending upon the user choice in my screen. Because of this the parsed SQL state is could not be shared and multiple of these are getting created in shared pool. To avoid this I would like to use bind variables.
    There are two ways I am trying to do this..
    1. Generating one bind variable for each value. i.e.,
    contracts_tbl.status_cod IN (:global.var1, :global.var2,
    :global.var3)
    Now this could result it memory error if no. of choices exceeds the avilable memory. Also its a tedious task to purge the variables after querying the block. Also because of multiple IN conditions, the chances of different set of selections are possible and then again sharing will be minimal.
    2. The second method is to set the one bind variable for each IN condition. i.e.,
    :GLOBAL.Var1 := '( 'NEW', 'OLD', 'EXPIRED', 'OPEN' )';
    :GLOBAL.Var2 := '(1, 2, 3)';
    contracts_tbl.status_col IN :GLOBAL.Var1
    AND contracts_tbl.id_col IN :GLOBAL.Var2
    In this case, forms is not querying as the IN condition takes the global variable value as one string and the query returns no rows though there are plenty available for each status. Also any NUMBER type condtions erroring out as the , and ( are invalid numerals.
    Q: Is there anyway you can make this work? or Is there any other better method to substitute bind variables in place to avoid creating new set of statements for each query in the shared pool?
    Your suggestions and pointers are higly appreciated. Please respond immediately as this is a P1.
    Thanks,

    2. The second method is to set the one bind variable for each >>IN condition. i.e.,
    :GLOBAL.Var1 := '( 'NEW', 'OLD', 'EXPIRED', 'OPEN' )';
    :GLOBAL.Var2 := '(1, 2, 3)';
    contracts_tbl.status_col IN :GLOBAL.Var1
    AND contracts_tbl.id_col IN :GLOBAL.Var2 This method should work - not sure if you put exact syntax in or not but your first assignment would cause a problem as everywhere you want one ' mark you would have to put two so that it does not close your quoted string
    Try the following syntax:
    :GLOBAL.Var1 := '( ''NEW'', ''OLD'', ''EXPIRED'', ''OPEN'' )';
    :GLOBAL.Var2 := '(1, 2, 3)';
    SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY('blk name',
    default_where,
    'contracts_tbl.status_col IN ' || :GLOBAL.Var1
    || ' AND contracts_tbl.id_col IN ' ||
    :GLOBAL.Var2);
    Hope this helps,

  • Variable for navigational attribute affected fiscper input variable

    Dear Friends
    Initially, the query is having an input variable for fiscper. The query was able to run properly.
    When i add a input variable for a navigational attribute to the same query which is based on multiprovider, the fiscper input variable is no longer  seen.
    So, I removed the global filter for the navigational attribute and it is ok again.  I fixed a value for the navigational attribute at filter level is also fine.
    Please advise what could be the cause. Thank you so much.
    Best regards
    Bass

    Hi Bass,
    Again seems to be a strange issue, if you have two independent characteristic with two different input enabled variables then there is no reason for the variable to not to show up on selection screen.
    Once you add the new variable and save the query just make sure that you have earlier variable as it is and check the query properties popup and see the fiscper variable sequence in the variable list.

  • Query variables for 0CALDAY

    Hello gurus,
       I´m trying to create a query variable that shows the last calendar day(infoobject 0CALDAY) in the previous year, current year, next year. I´m not finding these variables in Business Content. Does anybody know any variable for this? If I gonna need to create a user exit for this, where should I put the result of the ABAP program?
    Thanks,
    David.

    Hello David!
    Yes, you must create user-exit variable for this.
    Go to transaction CMOD and find or create project with RSR00001 enhancement ("BI: Enhancements for Global Variables in Reporting"). After that edit ZXRSRU01 include in function EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001.
    Add to ZXRSRU01 code for you user-exit variable. For example:
        WHEN 'ZB_DATE_LASTMINUS1'.
          LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO wa_range WHERE vnam = 'ZB_FISCYEAR_M1S'.
          ENDLOOP.
          n4 = wa_range-low.
          n4 = n4 - 1.
          CONCATENATE n4 '1231' into l_s_range-low.
          APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
    in example ZB_FISCYEAR_M1S - variable for manual input on 0fiscyear characteristic.
    ZB_DATE_LASTMINUS1 - user-exit variable. calculate last day for input year - 1.

  • Variable for 0FISCPER displays od values

    Hi
    I have created a query containing a interval variable for 0FISCPER. The Query is based on a multiprovider that is build on a single ODS containing WBS line items loaded through 0CO_OM_WBS_6. When the query is run and the variable box appears I press the selection button for 0FISCPER. It displays som od values for selection that does not exist in the ODS. fx. 001.0010. When i select such a value it is converted to 001.2010. The ODS only contain data for 2003-2006.
    Can you help me to understand what causes this, so i am able to fix it.
    Chris

    While creating report in KE31/KE35 trying create local variables, but it doesn't.
    Can any body advise how can we create a new variables for  "from period, to period, last fiscal year and next fiscal year.."
    Thanks
    VS Rao

    Hi Rao
    For Period (From &To)
    1. KE3E
    2. Type of Var = Char Value
        Enter variable name, say, ZPERIOD
        Field Name = PERDE
        Replacement type = Entry
        Enter Description
        Parameter/selectop = Selection Option
    For Fiscal Year
        Type of Var = Char Value
        Enter variable name, say, ZGJAHR
        Field Name = GJAHR
        Replacement type = Entry
        Enter Description
        Parameter/selectop = Parameter
    For Next and Last Fiscal Year
    When you define your form in KE34/KE35
    Use the variable ZGJAHR in your report
    In the column for Next Year, Enter "ZGJAHR+1" as the local variable for GJAHR
    In the Column for Last year, Enter  "ZGJAHR-1" as the local variable for GJAHR
