Glow filter?

I'm trying to make "CLICHE" glow or add dropshadow using filter, but I'm having problems.
I don't know where, and how to add code to make it glow. Could anyone help me?
Below is the entire code for this... Thank you!

Hi
The IEFilter 'glow' would only work for the IE browsers, so 40%-50% of your users would not see the effect as there is no css equivalent. As for the drop-shadow the IEFilter used with the css3 drop-shadow would do this for you in 98% of browsers.
However, if it is important that the text is visible to the max number of users | would recommend dropping the glow effect, similarly using an image to do this is not an accessible method for some user.,It is also using a font that is not installed on the majority of computers, (as pointed out by Beth) and this would probably be displayed in the browsers default font, (probably arial or times).

  • Problem with Diffuse Glow filter PSE mac (Intuit Tablet Issue?)

    The problem that I am having is that when I use the diffuse glow filter it is using a "grey" instead of "white" glow.  The program was installed and working fine for weeks until I used my walcom intuit tablet and the diffuse glow filter turned to grey.  As far as I can tell there is no way to change what color the glow is so I am not sure how to fix it.  I tried support at walcom and they claim to have never heard of this issue.  I also have a notebook running Vista and CS3 and the same thing happened to it but I didn't realize it was the tablet until I tried to use the tablet with my new imac for the first time and the same thing happened.
    Any ideas?  Anyone else have this problem?

    So I found the answer on another thread, I didn't realize that diffuse glow used the color chosen for your background as the color for the glow.  The colors must have swapped when I started using the tablet.  Ooopps! lol

  • Improving the quality of the mx:Glow filter

    How can you control the quality of the mx:Glow filter? At the
    moment all my filters are square shaped. Using the
    flash.filters.GlowFliter class, the quality can be changed so that
    the filter rounds up in shape (1 or 2 give you a square-shaped
    glow) but, the mx:Glow does not seem to have such a property. Is
    there a walk-around solution to this problem?
    This is the code I have:
    <mx:Glow id="myGlowOn" duration="1000"
    alphaFrom="1.0" alphaTo="0.3"
    blurXFrom="0.0" blurXTo="50.0"
    blurYFrom="0.0" blurYTo="50.0"
    color="0x00000000"/>

    Hi,
    You shouldn't need to take a snapshot of the PDF - it can be placed into indesign using File>Place. If it is a multi-page PDF, hold down shift when you click Place and the import options dialog will appear. You can choose the page that you need and once the PDF is placed you can crop or resize to suit.
    Please bear in mind that Indesign only shows a low-resolution proxy for placed images. You can see a higher resolution preview by changing your view settings to high quality display.

  • Need help with glow filter

    Hi,
    First of all what I'm trying to do is to get a circle sprite to glow or highlight when the mouse is over.  Using the glow filter, I set the inner boolean to true, but what happens is I get an outline, not an inner glow.  It's on top of a bevel filter, which I tried removing to see if I'd get a glow, but still ended up with just the outline.  Here is my code for the function:
    public function drawCircle(){
                 //Object
                 buttonCircle = new Sprite();
                //Bevel Related:
                var matr:Matrix = new Matrix();
                matr.createGradientBox(32, 32, Math.PI * (1/2), 0, 0);
                buttonCircle.graphics.beginGradientFill(GradientType.LINEAR, [0x990099,0xCCCCCC], [1], [5, 520], matr, "SpreadMethod.PAD");
                buttonCircle.graphics.drawCircle(16, 16, 16);
                bevel = new BevelFilter(3, 45, 0xFFFFFF, .3, 0x666666, .8, 5,5,5,BitmapFilterQuality.HIGH, BitmapFilterType.INNER, false);
                //Glow Filter:
                glowFilter = new GlowFilter(0xFFFFFF, 1, 3, 3, 2, 1, true, false);
                buttonCircle.filters = [bevel, glowFilter];
                addChild(buttonCircle)
    So I'm getting just an outline.  What am I doing wrong?  Is there a better approach?
    Edit: Just tidied up the ode.
    Thank you in advance.

    What exactly do you mean by an 'outline'?
    The 'inner' vs 'outer' just controls the direction in which the glow spreads, so an inner glow on a circle will still give you a ring, just the ring will be inside the edge of the circle instead of outside.
    If you're looking for a glow originating rom the cetner of the circle, the easiest way is just to increase the brightness of the circle using a ColorTransform. Alternately, you can play around with a GradientGlowFilter until you get the results you want.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 64 bit Diffuse Glow Filter looks wrong

    Instead of having the built-in filter, Diffuse Glow produce a glow effect, it lowers the brightness of the non-glowing areas. WTF is wrong with this? Anyone else having this problem?

    This is what I get. I am running Photoshop CC 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit. See the settings sliders on the right side of this image. This is a screen capture. This isn't glowing. The controls from top to bottom are graininess, Glow Amount, Clear Amount. Raise the clear amount and the photo gets darker. Raise the glow amount and it doesn't glow. It only gets as bright as it was when normal. The only direction you can go, is darker!
    Any ideas on a fix for this?

  • How can I create a Glow without using a filter

    I am creating an application for iPhone4, and one of the problems I am having is the lack of filter support.
    I am trying to create a "stroke" around some bitmaps... an example would be a text field that is white on a bright background - I would put a black stroke around it to contract it... there are other needs as well, but this is an example.
    Before, I would just put a glow filter on the text field, tweak the settings and it looked good and did exactly what I wanted.
    But iPhone4 high resolution with gpu acceleration don't support filters - and I can't change those requirements... so any and all bitmap filters are out.
    Does anyone know of a way I can create a glow filter effect without using filters that would not be a major preformance hit for fps and memory?

    Have you tried using tweenMax and code in a glow effect.
    Something like this:
    import com.greensock.*;
    import com.greensock.plugins.*;
    TweenPlugin.activate([TintPlugin]);
    var glowEffect:TweenMax = new TweenMax(mc,0,{glowFilter:{color:0x330000,alpha:1,blurX:5,blurY:5,strength:2,quality:2,ov erwrite:5}});

  • Bounding box crops my glow!

    Hi,
    Maybe I'm being dumb here, but...I want to animate several glowing rings. I've used the Circle tool to draw my rings, but when I apply a Glow filter I find the glow is cut off at the edges of the bounding box. Surely this is an effect that must be possible in Motion... Is there any way of expanding the bounding box? Or will I have to work around by creating the rings in Photoshop with a larger bounding box?
    Help...Thanks

    I believe what you want is to apply the glow filter to the LAYER which contains the items you want to glow. Select that LAER GROUP, then o to the INSPECTOR and then go to the GROUP tab. From there just select FIXED RESOLUTION.
    As long as you don't scale the group then all should be good.
    Good luck.

  • Modifying filter w/out using keyframe editor?

    I added a glow filter to a graphic on the canvas. The glow is added to the graphic on the entire timeline, but I wanted to add the glow filter only where the playhead was located. I had to use the keyframe editor to modify that. Can I control the location where the filter is applied without going into the keyframe editor?

    Sure, just select the filter in the Layer tab, move to the location you want it to start, press i to set the in point, move to where you want it to end, press o to set the out point.

  • Recording smooth video with iSight using Glow effect

    I want to use iSight's Glow effect with a video recording. PhotoBooth software does it very jerkily. iChat does it smoothly, but I don't see a way of recording video without having a chat with someone. iMovie 08 doesn't seem to be able to create the Glow effect. Any ideas how to do this?

    Hello Steve Mouzon
    The closest you will likely come to Photo Booth's Glow with the other apps you mention is to try the Video FX in iMovie 6 HD's "Editing" window. Some experimentation will let you know if it can meet your needs.
    If iMovie 6 HD was not installed along with your iMovie '08, see this post for help:
      http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6991973#6991973
    If you need more powerful effects control than that, you can consider the professional applications like Motion that make up Final Cut Studio. For more info, take a look at RedTruck's post here or other Final Cut Studio > Final Cut Pro Discussions topics.
    Other alternatives that may be worth your consideration are ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS CS3 PROFESSIONAL or creating your own "glow" filter.

  • Glow effect with GPU render

    Hi everyone,
    I know that the glow effect can't be visible with GPU render on IOS/ANDROID devices.
    But I heard that there was a way to appply a glow effect anyway. (I need the GPU render as my animations are smoother with it)
    My code was :
    private function itemGlow(isGlowing:Boolean):void{
                                  if (isGlowing){
                                            var glow:GlowFilter = new GlowFilter();
                                            glow.color = 0xFFFF00;
                                            glow.alpha = .75;
                                            glow.blurX = 10;
                                            glow.blurY = 10;
                                            glow.quality = BitmapFilterQuality.MEDIUM;
                                            draggedItem.filters = [glow];
                                  } else {
                                            draggedItem.filters = null;
    And I decided to replace it, in order to make it work with GPU render, with this code :
    public function itemGlow(isGlowing:Boolean):void{
                                  if (isGlowing){
                                            var glow:Sprite = new Sprite();
    glow.graphics.beginFill(0); // black color
    glow.graphics.drawCircle(20, 20, 20);
    glow.graphics.endFill();
    draggedItem.filters = [new GlowFilter(0xFFFF00, 1)];
    var bd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(50, 50, true, 0x00000000);
    bd.draw(glow);
    var glowbit:Bitmap = new Bitmap(bd);
    addChild(glowbit);
                                  } else {
                                            draggedItem.filters = null;
    No errors, glow visible on the simulation device. But when it's not working on real Android device....
    Any idea why ?
    Thank you very much,
    Stephan

    From what I see it's for the same reason the original code wouldn't work. You're applying a glow filter the same way. The only different thing you're doing is drawing a black 40x40 black circle, drawing it into a transparent BitmapData (which isn't big enough) while adding that circle as a Bitmap to the display list.
    Are you working in 3D? Either way in general the way you can utilize the graphics class is to draw the object using built in Flash classes, then draw that object into a BitmapData (so draw "draggedItem" into a BitmapData with the glow applied) and then use the BitmapData (in a Bitmap like you did for example).

  • Button without Glow

    Hi,
    Can i do a button without Glow with css?
    i want the button totally Black
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    There is filter called Glow Filter. You can use that in css set properties according to requirement. Following links will help you :

  • PhotoBooth Glow effect in iMovie?

    What might be the best way to get the PhotoBooth Glow effect in iMovie? PhotoBooth video is incredibly jerky... like maybe one sample per second or something like that. I do want to use the iSight camera built into my MacBook Pro, but wanted smoother video if possible.

    Thanks for the star, Steve
    Perhaps a more detailed explanation will my suggestion clearer for you.
    The alternatives I suggested do not replicate Photo Booth's one-step "Glow" effect recording. Rather, they give you the power to create or simulate them in multiple operations. If they replicated Photo Booth's "Glow" they would likely give the same jerkiness that you are trying to avoid.
    Considerable processor power is required to apply and render the effects that make up Photo Booth's "Glow" in real time while video is being captured and recorded. I believe that is why more complex effects like "Glow" cause jerky recording on your MacBook Pro. I do not have an 8-core Mac Pro to test, but my guess is that one of the new, fast 8-core Mac Pros could record Photo Booth's "Glow" smoother than your MacBook Pro does. However, if you only have access to your MBP, the only way I can think of to get a less jerky video that "glows" is to separate recording from rendering the effects.
    Macs uses QuickTime file formats everywhere, so there is no mystery in the Photo Booth / iChat commonality. In fact, as explained in Changing the backdrop of a video chat in iChat 4.0 Help on your Mac, iChat can use any image or QuickTime movie, not only those created by Photo Booth (using QuickTime formats), as a custom backdrop.
    Photo Booth's "effects" are simply some saved setting "recipes" that use combinations of operations that include some of your Mac's Core Video settings. As explained in the "creating your own "glow" filter" link I provided in your other thread, you can create effects for yourself. However, using this method adds processor workload, so I doubt that creating your own effects would smooth the jerky recordings that you have encountered.
    Instead, I suggest that you use iMovie to (1) first record the movie clip, and (2) then add effects one at a time to approximate the look you want while keeping the smoothness of an iMovie recording.
    Because these effects use combinations of your Mac's inbuilt Core Video effects, you should be able to approximate the Photo Booth "Glow" that you like by applying combinations of some of iMovie's "Video FX". To simulate the Photo Booth "Glow" effect on an iMovie video clup, some experimentation will be needed to decide which effects to use and where to set the various sliders for those effects.
    I started by recording a short video clip in iMovie. Next, I applied maximum "Bloom" effect to the test clip. After "Bloom" rendering was completed, I experimented with the "Brightness & Contrast" settings for the rendered clip. By increasing the Contrast and decreasing the Brightness sliders, I got a smooth video image that I think looks similar to my jerky Photo Booth recording with the "Glow" effect. I finished the simulation by setting the appropriate slider position for the "Peephole" effect. I know that this simulation is not merely a smooth version of the jerky Photo Booth "Glow" video clip. However, it is a smooth recording, and it seems to me to approximates the look of my jerky Photo Booth "Glow" clip. If the same "recipe" does not produce a video that looks like you want, even if you cannot create an exact match, you should be able to come closer with additional experimentation.
    I have learned much about iMovie's capability from Karsten, who I consider to be one of the iMovie HD gurus. He has done some amazing things with iMovie HD. If he gives you different advice here, try his first.
    Cheers,

  • Glowing Object help

    Im new to motion and i was wondering if anybody knew how to draw a glow around an object, so i can keyframe it as the object moves in the scene?
    thanks

    hi,
    if the object is isolated from the background already then you might get away with just adding a Glow filter to it.
    But if the object is part of shot footage for example, you will need to isolate it from the background. For this you will need to animate some masks. depending on what you want to achieve, you might get away with something simple. You could duplicate the footage, and on the top one animate a rough mask to isolate your object, and then apply a Glow filter to that, you might get away with rough edges.
    But before any of that you are going to have to read up in the manaul about animating masks and filters.

  • Having problem with images imported from photoshop

    I am totally new to Fireworks, I am redoing a site that was done using CS2, that is GoLive, Photoshop and Image Ready. I wanted to begin familiarizing myself with Fireworks by starting with using it to make all the web images for the site (jpgs, pngs, etc). It started well but after a while I started getting strange results from FW when I imported PSD files. The PSD imports fine into FW but when I want to "preview" or do a "2-UP" and see what it looks like as a jpg or png I just get a blank image where the jpg or png is supposed to be. However if I "export" the jpg it does get exported, but I would like to preview it to see what the quality is. This doesn't happen every time but at least 50% of the time in the last 2 days, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason behind why it works with some images but not others.
    Another thing is that if I add a layer effect to the image such as "inner glow" to the PS image, and then flatten the image to make sure it gets exported to FW, it doesn't get exported. It is as if I never added the layer effect in PS.
    Any help on these two issues would be greatly appreciated and help me to continue in perservering with FW.
    VL Branko

    I don't think I've cracked open Bridge since upgrading to CS5/CS6, and I'm hesitant to start today! I'm therefore kind of assuming that you're starting with PSDs and opening them up in Fireworks. (If you're not doing this, give it a try.)
    Regarding the 50% failure of Preview and 2-Up modes, I was thinking that saving the PSDs as native Fireworks PNGs—within Fireworks—might eliminate that problem. It's hard to imagine Fireworks not previewing its own file format, but easier to imagine it failing to properly preview a PSD file. And again, perhaps File > Image Preview might work better for you.
    As far as the "inner glow" issue: 1) Be sure to add it into the PSD before importing into Fireworks, and 2) If it doesn't show up, have a look at Filters within the Properties panel for the selected object; you could try selecting Inner Glow within ‘Photoshop Live Effects’ or try out Fireworks' own native Inner Glow filter effect.
    Other than for the purpose of familiarizing yourself with Fireworks, you may want to consider why you'd use Fireworks for these graphics, if they were originally created in Photoshop. Small changes in graphic appearance are always possible when moving between applications. For example, Photoshop is color managed whereas Fireworks is not; you therefore might notice a small shift in saturation or tonality between the two applications. Whether this is a concern depends on your final output goals.

  • How to create a rollover button effect in Captivate 7?

    Hi,
    I recently upgraded from Captivate 6 to Captivate 7 and am curious to know how I can create a rollover state for a SmartShape button. Basically, let's say I have a SmartShape being used as a button. What I want is to have the button have a glow effect and a shadow effect each time the mouse is hovered over it. Is there an easier way than having two objects on the slide -- one as the normal state and one the mouse hoever image. What I'm thinking is that the mouse hovered state image will have it's 'Visible in Output' set as unchecked and I can use an Advanced Action to show the object on mouse hover. Perhaps I can have the mouse hovered state image as a rollover SmartShape too?
    Nonetheless, this looks like too much work. If I have 10 clickables on the page for which I want rollover effects, I would need to have 10 additional objects with their rollover states -- just seems like too much, but perhaps that's the Captivate way. Or I am I missing the obvious?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Most people would say the easiest way to achieve what you are talking about would be to just create your own custom image button in a graphics editor and give the Over state image having the glow effect that you want.
    If you decide to go that route, this tutorial describes the process of creating an image button:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate/create-custom-image-buttons
    Another possibility is that you can use the Infosemantics Event Handler widget to trigger an Apply Effect action and use the Glow filter as the effect.
    However, this may require some tweaking since it's not that easy to time effects that are applied via an advanced action.
