Gmail Contacts Import Refuses My .CSV File

I have created a file in Numbers of contacts for gmail.
I have exported it as a .csv file
and I selected Western Mac OS Roman
(When this failed I tried Unicode and Windows Latin1)
Both of those failed to be accepted by gmail too.
Each time I try and import this file into gmail
to the Contacts section it says...
Sorry we cannot recognize the file format.
When I made my .csv file...
I started with a pile of email addresses with names.
I made sure that each line in the document read:
name(,) last name(,) <email address> (I hit return here)
Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong???
thanks.

Which is the decimal separator in your system.
If it is the comma, Numbers will not use the comma as values separator but semi-colons.
This may explain your problem.

  • Contact import refuses to see post code

    As a new user, I'm trying to set up my address book by importing from a csv file. The address lines (both home and business) in the csv file are street 1, street 2, city, county, postcode, country. There are no spurious characters or delimiters in the file. The import window shows ALL these correctly except postcode which is always "empty" no matter what I do. All the address lines, including postcode are repeated lower down as "do not import". Address format setting in preferences is UK. Can anyone help please?

    I have been having the same problem on Mac OS X Yosemite, but just found a solution that may help with yours.
    Turns out that AirDrop is not backwards compatible between newer and older versions of Mac OS X. On Yosemite there is a label in the bottom right of the AirDrop main view that says "Don't see what you're looking for?". Clicking on that label brings up a popover that has some information about Wi-fi on other computers of the like and it has a button that says "Search for Older Macs". Clicking this button immediately made the other Macs (running Mavericks) I was looking for appear and made me (running Yosemite) become immediately visible to them as well.
    I think this has something to do with the AirDrop permissions, even setting the selector to "Everyone" doesn't seem to work so I'm guessing the two are not immediately compatible without following these steps.
    Hope this helps!
    When AirDrop for Macs was introduced many years ago. It would "handshake" between Macs and do the actual transfer of files via WiFi only.
    Then AirDrop was introduced for iOS devices... Everybody was happy... Except for the fact that it would not work between Mac and iOS. This is because the "handshake" for iOS was done via BlueTooth, but the actual transfer was done via WiFi.
    Now that Yosemite is out, both Mac and iOS devices do the "handshake" via BlueTooth. Then transfers the file via WiFi.
    What I mean by "handshake", is that that's how the devices sees each other. Once the transfer of file starts, it's switched over to WiFi for a faster transference of the file.

  • How can I import an existing csv. file into Outlook on a Mac with OS10.7

    Tried to import a csv. file on my Mac (OS 10.7.2) into Microsoft Outlook 2011 (for Mac) on the same computer, ended up with a useless Excel page - it opened the csv file in Excel with only a few contacts and uselessly formatted, at that!. Also, tried to save the csv file as a text file, then importing it into Word 2011 and Excel, with the same results. Anyone able to help? Would like to have the contained address/contact info look concise and neat, without duplicates or garbled/missing information.

    DPS can use H.264 files, but I have no idea about the details since I've never done any of it myself. Ask in the ID/ DPS forums.

    This is exactly what I am dealing with. Blackberry Link will work great for awhile and then something happens and I can not sync my contacts. I have spent many hours and days trying to fix this to no avail. BB support has been great but I still go through a long process each time. This week I finally gave up and started using the Microsoft Hotmail Outlook Connector since my company does not offer Active Sync or Exchange. It works flawlessly. I would dedfinitely check it out. If you swith to a Widows Phone or Android this is one of the options they recommend you use.
    In a nutshell Link is awful and BB should be ashamed of the product they put on the market. I will only use it for syncing pictures and documents. Good luck!

  • I wish to import a Bank csv file into my numbers spreadsheet but all of it goes into one column which I can't separate

    I wish to import a csv file from my Bank into a numbers spreadsheet but I can't expand it from the one column it's in . Can anybody help  Thankyou

    This Automator Service (Dropbox download) should do the job, eliminating the need for a trip to TextEdit, etc.
    The one-time installation is simple: just doubleclick the .workflow package. You may have to click "Download Anyway" in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
    To use, in Finder select the csv file, rightclick, and in Services in the contextual menu select CSV to Tabs on Clipboard. Choose the delimiter when prompted (usually it's a comma but there are other choices). When the "ready to paste" notification appears a few seconds later, click once in a Numbers cell and command-v to paste the data. (If needed Numbers will automatically expand the table to accommodate the data.)
    To remove or rename the Service, in Finder hold down the option key and in the menu Go > Library > Services.

  • How to import data from CSV file with columns separated by semicolon?

    I migrate database from MS SQL 2008 to ORACLE 11g
    I export data to CSV file from MS SQL
    then I try to import it to Oracle
    several tables goes fine using Import data option in the SQL Developer
    Standard CSV files with data separated by comma were imported.
    chars, date (with format string), and integer data are imported via import wizard without problems
    the problems were when I try to import table with noninteger numbers with modal part separated by comma not by dot
    comma is the standard separator for columns in CSV file
    so I must change the standard separator to semicolon
    then the import wizard have problem to correct recognize the columns data because it use only standard CSV comma separator :-/
    In SQL Developer 1.5.3 Tools -> Preferences -> Migration -> Data Move Options
    I change "End of Column Delimiter" to ; but it doens't work
    Is this possible to change the standard column separator for import data wizzard in SQL Developer 1.5.3?
    Or maybe someone know how to import data in SQL Developer 1.5.3 from CSV when CSV colunn separator is set to semicolon?

    A new preference has been added to customize the import delimiter in main code line. This should be available as part of future release.

  • How to import data from CSV files to OIM?

    Hello,
    We have to import some of the files which are in csv format and are placed in a specific folder hierarchy. Please help as i am not able to proceed further.
    Thanks a lot!

    To write custom scheduler tasks you need to write a class which extends SchedulerBaseTask class.
    See this link. Re: Custom reconcilation
    Also GTC flat file retrieves data from file and creates identity/account in OIM. You can use either ways to meet your requirements.

  • Trying to import from different csv files into multiple JTables

    This might seem like something that isn't commonly done, but I'll see if anyone has done this before anyways.
    I currently have a JTable (tab #1) and it successfully reads in the data from a CSV file to populate the cells. Now, I am looking into making 3 more JTables. I can tab between the four different tables, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the data to go to the correct JTable. Tab #1 = table, Tab #2 = table2, Tab #3 = table3, Tab #4 = table4.
    Thanks.
            try
                FileInputStream fileInput = new FileInputStream ("upcoming.csv");
                BufferedReader InputCSV = new BufferedReader (new InputStreamReader (fileInput));
                line = InputCSV.readLine(); //start reading into the records.
                    //Create data for the table.
                    //the row variable = starting row
                int row = 0;
                while(line != null)
                    tmp = line.split(",");
                    for (int col = 0; col < columnNames.length; ++col)
                        data[row][col] = tmp[col]; //store cells' data to the 2-dimensional array.
                    row++;
                    line = InputCSV.readLine();
                }//end of WHILE-statement.
            } //END of TRY-statement.
            catch(Exception e)
                System.out.println(e);
            }

    I have been successful in my quest to get 4 different datasets into 4 different JTables. The previous posters suggestion to use the Table model led me to this page:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/javax/swing/table/TableModel.html
            TableModel myData = new MyTableModel();
            JTable table = new JTable(myData);I had some very similar code in my program. I use the DefaultTableModel and the SortFilterModel before having 4 different JTables.
            DefaultTableModel model = new DefaultTableModel(data, columnNames);
            DefaultTableModel model2 = new DefaultTableModel(data2, columnNames);
            DefaultTableModel model3 = new DefaultTableModel(data3, columnNames);
            DefaultTableModel model4 = new DefaultTableModel(data4, columnNames);I use the code in the first post 4 times, and only change the filename and the data#.
    I also have some code that counts the number of lines that will be needed.
    Thanks.

  • Howto import contact data (avail as csv file)

    Howdy how do i import those data in my phone?

    Found it myself on metalink. See document ID 4421139. The problem is a bug in SQLLoader in 10g. The workaround described in the document: you need to add an extra ")" in the corresponding line in the CTL file:
    instead of:
    DURATION interval day to second "to_dsinterval('0 ' || :DURATION)"
    the line must provide the missing ")" at the end:
    DURATION interval day to second "to_dsinterval('0 ' || :DURATION))"

  • Import very large csv files into SAP

    Hi
    We're not using PI, but have middleware called Trading Networks. Our design is fixed (not my decision) to not upload files into Application Server and import it from there. Our design dictates that we must write RFCs and Trading Networks will call the RFC per interface with very large file sent as table of strings. This takes 14 minutes to import into SAP plain Z-table from where we'll integrate. As a test we uploaded the file to Application Server and integrated into Z-table from there. This took 4 minutes. However our architect is not impressed that we'll stretch available Application Server to it's limits.
    I want to propose that the large file be split in e.g. 4 parts at Trading Networks level and call 4 threads of the RFC which could reduce integration time to e.g. 3 minutes 30 seconds. Is there someone that has suggestions in this regard especially about a proposed, working, elegant solution for integrating large files with our current environment? This will form the foundation of our project.
    Thank you and best regards,
    Adrian

    Zip compression can be tried. The RFC will receive zip stream which will be decompressed using CL_ABAP_ZIP.

  • How to Export Address Book contacts as CSV file for Gmail?

    Hi
    I wish to export some of my Address Book contacts towards Gmail (which i use through the web interface for now) but I don't want to export vcards as i don't trust big brother Google with all the other data (snail mail, phone numbers, birthdays, etc).
    I have tried to do the export through Address Book but found no CSV export option.
    I've searched the forum for an answer, but to no avail. Some other (paying) websites claim to offer solutions but the "pay before you see" deters me from using them.
    Any tip on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Scripts and software also welcome, if shareware/freeware.
    Cheers,

    Thanks for your answer, but gmail's help specifically states one can import contacts in CSV format and i was looking for a simple batch solution.
    Here is a link to the relevant gmail page (might be in French - am not a "Froguette" for nothing ;)) about importing:

    and the one about importing addresses as CSV files:
    <http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=fr&answer=12119>)
    So my question still stands.
