Gnome menu item placement [SOLVED]

I read the Customizing System Menus on the Gnome wiki but am wondering if there is a GUI based method to move where an Icon under the Gnome Applications Menu will appear.  For example: I want the launcher for some Office stuff that currently resides under the "Wine" section to appear in the "Office" section of my "Applications" menu.
EDIT: Jeeze - didn't realize that if you clicked on the damn section of the System>"Main Menu" that it displayed the damn icons!  All this time I thought this was only for defining menu sections!

  • [SOLVED] update removed menu items in lxpanel menu & in gnome-panel

when i start gnome-panel, the 'applications' drop down is empty, and 'system' no longer contains the 'administration' and 'preferences' items.
in lxpanel, the menu only shows 'run' and 'logout'.
i wanted to see if alacarte still showed things, so i ran alacarte from a terminal (which normally works)...
    [chris: ~]$ alacarte

    parser.Parse("", True)
xml.parsers.expat.ExpatError: no element found: line 1, column 0
naturally, starting alacarte by right clicking on gnome-menu -> edit menus also does nothing.
i looked at /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/Alacarte/MainWindow.py with cat, and there is nothing super-obviously wrong with the script.
    also:
    [chris: ~]$ ls /usr/share/applications
    abiword.desktop
    alacarte.desktop
    aldm-gui.desktop
    assistant.desktop
    at-properties.desktop
    avahi-discover.desktop
    banshee-1-audiocd.desktop
    banshee-1.desktop
    banshee-1-media-player.desktop
    baobab.desktop
    *and so on*
    so those didn't vanish.
    any ideas?

so i saw this error message....
** (gnome-panel:4408): WARNING **: Error loading menu layout from "/home/chris/.config/menus/settings.menu": Error on line 1 char 1: Document was empty or contained only whitespace
the file was empty. and what do we do with broken config files in ~? why, we hide them, of course!
    [chris: ~/.config/menus]$ mv settings.menu settings.menubackup
now gnome-panel works, but alacarte (menu editor) and lxpanel's menu is still busted.
now that i am getting somewhere, im gonna keep posting as i trace this down so others that may come across this same issue can benefit.
edit: renamed ~/.config/menus/lxde-applications.menu to .menubackup and restarted lxpanel, it works now.
    edit2:
    alacarte is giving me this...
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/home/chris/.config/menus/applications.menu'
and sure enough, pcmanfm told me that the file belonged to root.
sudo pcmanfm, navigated to that file, right click -> properties -> permissions -> changed owner to chris and group to users.
    alacarte works now, too.
i think im going to go through and recursively make everything in each ~ folder belong to the username it should just in case permissions got jumbled somewhere/anywhere else.
just so i know: did this happen to anyone else that updated within the last 24 hours or so?
(so i can learn if it was something *I* did, or if it was something that came with the *update*)

  • No gnome menu icons [solved]

Hi fellas, I have a bit of a problem, it is not vital though, just that there are no icons next to any of the item in any drop-down menu (right mouse button menu, main gnome menu etc...)
    Thanks

Ashren wrote:Ok then, please check if gnome-icon-theme is installed - if not install it. It should be since it is a part of gnome.
Didn't help. It was ok when I first installed the system, I just tried changing icons, it worked at first but after one boot it just didn't load, I tried changing everything back to previous state, it didn't come back up though. What should I do, I don't wanna reinstall the whole system, it took me days to modify it to the way I wanted it.

  • [SOLVED] Rubyripper icon not displaying in Gnome menu

    Hi.
The Rubyripper icon doesn't show up in my applications menu (Gnome). The .desktop file reads
    [jm@elroy ~]$ cat /usr/share/applications/rubyripper.desktop | grep Icon
    Icon=rubyripper
And the icon is present in my filesystem
    [jm@elroy ~]$ find /usr/share/icons/ -name rubyripper.png
    /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/rubyripper.png
    What can I do?
Last edited by hennes (2008-05-21 06:49:50)

The icons for the gnome menu have to be located in /usr/share/pixmaps I guess, check if a rubyripper.* icon is present there. If not, copy an icon into that folder [name: rubyripper(.png | .xpm | .svg ...)]
If present, maybe the icon cache should be updated. Try
    gtk-update-icon-cache
    or
    gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/{your icon theme}
to force an overwrite; with root privileges. (I guess your theme is hicolor.)
I missed some icons too, but I did never mind. One day, they occured... so if nothing helps, wait ^^

  • Show All Menu Items  -designed by idiots for idiots?

    [rant]
Which idiot or idiots thought of that in CS4?
Same annoyance in my old XP office but at least you could set it to always show full menus. I had to move to CS4 after CS3 didn't like Win7 (no problem with that as it's beta) but I was shocked to find my opened images now seem to go left to right rather than right to left. Not sure of the technical description but the close 'x' has moved. And WTF is a 'floating document window' and why has it completely changed my user experience with Photoshop? It's horrible and totally different to CS3.
"Show All Menu Items" is the worst thing of all. It's not done by the same numpties who did this forum is it? I notice tight/click paste doesn't work here either. I have to CTRL/V. And where's 'preview message'?
I think the designers have run out of ideas and have to find something to do or are they all the people Microsoft dumped after the Vista Wow?
Other than those complaints I still love Photoshop but -please- get rid of the "Show All Menu Items". Just show me the bloody options that have always been there.
    [/rant]

Big thank you to Zeno Bokor -that solved it in 1 second
I think I've had PS for almost 7 years and it's a wonderful program. I don't mind technical changes or improvements but they really need to test things a bit more. Messing about with something as simple as a menu (which is after all just a menu) is the height of stupidity. They should learn from Windows 7. A fantastic OS compared to the horrible Vista. Why did they get it right this time? They listened to their customers. Windows 7 opens CS4 (and CS3 -it does work just a bit of hassle) like a Notepad file. It's very quick, has never crashed and works very very well. I have noticed some other changes (apart from the annoyances) but I'm not a particulaly heavy user and everything else I went for in the GUI was there 9or was easily found).
Adobe need to concentrate on getting the program to work and work well and stop messing around with the interface. And why is there no real working official fix for CS3 and CS4 with Windows7? W7 is not a beta like some strange little fan ap for Linux -it is your next paymaster. Yes, technically, it may be in beta but I've been using it for months (it's still free to use and download until March 2010) and it's a very very popular application. Many people who use W7 also use Photoshop. Instead of Adobe's development team thinking of ways to annoy paying customers maybe they should fix CS3/4 so it works fully in W7? You think that would be a good idea?
Anyway, I'm glad Show All Menu Items™ is fixed but I still have multiple images being opened/loaded to the left instead of the right. So when I go to close or edit I keep going to the wrong side (maybe I installed the Arabic version? ). This sort of thing is not easy to Google or search for a fix because I and I assume 1000s of others have no idea why it would have changed in the first place.
Photoshop is a great application but cut the crap ideas and fancy menus. And, get your finger out and fix CS3/4 fully for W7.
    Thanks again

/* Settable values for skinning a Basic menu via presets. If presets are not sufficient, most skinning should be done in
these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
.MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered -  - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

/* IE6 rules - you can delete these if you do not want to support IE6 */
/* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
    * Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
    * giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
    * Unfortunately IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores
    * all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this
    * problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'.
    * Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class
    * syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where
    * it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden.
    * So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule.  We follow this with the single-class rule that it would
    * mistakenly override, making sure the  misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins.
    * We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for
    * the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the
    * css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support.
    * If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
    * The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by  the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the necessity of IE conditional comments for these rules.

    * Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
    * giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.

  • How to Remove the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' menu item in Firefox 8?

I have Firefox 8 on my Windows 7 machine, and I'm trying to get rid of the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' Menu Item. I'd found a way, way back, to do that in an earlier version of Firefox on my XP PC, but I couldn't find anything on the web on how to do this in this release of Firefox.
I'm also having trouble getting rid of "Subscribe to this page" menu item.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi
Try using '&otherparams=usesdi=yes' in your URL...this could solve your problem....good luck :)

  • Start Menu items/shotcuts and Start Menu search ability on multiple workstations

2/13/2014 our IT department began to receive complaints of missing programs. After investigation of a few users we were able to determine that the programs existed but all shortcuts and items from the start menu had been completely removed. In addition the
searching feature of the start menu was not functional. This happened to about 90% of our environment and the catalyst seemed to be Windows updates or at least occurred after the auto reboot initiated by Windows Updates.  The only items visible in start
menu were items added after the fact, internet explorer, magnifier, command prompt, and notepad. All other items, folders, and the ability to search installed programs or folders were completely removed. However all programs are present in the program files
folders. THe start menu folder in program data was empty except for the aforementioned items. Additionally properties of start menu had all necessary checks in boxes such as search program files and folders etc. Also show hidden items and folders is enabled
for many users so the items were not hidden but gone. And the biggest kicker of all was after a full domain investigation into the issues we found that the majority of our windows server platforms, primarily 2008, were also affected and system restore is unavailable.
This conflicts with our idea that Windows Updates caused this since our servers get their updates on a manual initiated basis by their admins which we have not performed as of yet for this month. This caused me to begin looking at SCCM SCEP as all systems
have System Center Endpoint Protection and received definition updates. Also accessing different user profiles or even a new profile did not make a difference, issue still present.
Due to the enormous inconvenience we sent out a company wide email asking users to perform system restores to get us in a stable state. A system restore to the day before Windows updates (second Wednesday of every month configured by SCCM SCUP) restored
    the start menu items.
On a multitude of machines IT performed troubleshooting and system restores recording the changes removed and added. We then, on a healthy machine, started to apply the windows updates and SCEP (antivirus) definitions 1 by 1 with out success of replicating
the issue. Next we performed a system wide antivirus full scan and did not find any viruses. This is obviously not a system criticle issue bringing us down but is a huge concern for us in IT as it happened company wide and caused a large flux of tickets and
some down time for non-technical users. We most definitely want to know the cause and after several days of investigation and troubleshooting Im turning to the Microsoft community for help.
I know I categorized this as a Windows 7 issue and its affecting windows server 2008, 2003, and 7, but I did not see a forum for all windows platforms. Since the majority of affected users are Windows 7 I opened it here.
So to summarize in a bulleted format:
Issue: Wide spread issue affecting around 60-70 users and servers, all profiles, were all start menu items save one or two system defaults were removed. Additionally the searching feature for the start menu looks to be broken as programs
exist in program files and are unsearchable from start menu. IT was also affected and I remain affected until I find the cause.
    Investigation and Troubleshooting:
Start menu properties: nothing has changed and search options are enabled.
Missing items are not hidden, hiding and unhiding does nothing and folder options show hidden files is checked.
Program data start menu location is indeed empty as well as user app data start menu location
No group policy's are in place altering start menu items and no group policy changes were made as of recent
No SCCM packages pushed company wide in last month or pushed individually
Windows Updates occurred on windows 7 machines only before the issue occurred and computers restarted and the issue surfaced
System Center Endpoint Protection Antivirus updates and definitions deployed just before the occurrence with windows updates. SCEP def updates happen on all windows boxes to include servers
Paint.exe was completely missing from system32 folder for some users machines to include my own
System restore to that morning before restarts or previous day fixes the issue for windows 7 users
No windows updates were initiated on any servers
Servers were also affected with windows 7 machines
About half the users affected had corrupt Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus Click to Run installations and for some the system restore did not fix this and we had to re-install office for around 10 users
SCEP antivirus did not catch any viruses that could cause this, I performed MBAM scans on a handful of machines and didn't find anything either.
    Re-creating start menu shortcuts works
Happened to two of our companies locations NH and MA, all part of the same domain but different LANS of course. Companies are interconnected by MPLS connection.
I combed through SCCM to see if anything deployed and found nothing. Currently I have SCUP updates and SCEP updates disabled. I will post a list of Windows Updates that occurred when the issue occurred as well as the SCEP updates. I have read all the threads
about this types of issues and tried all steps without success. Googling the issue also did not rear results.

    Hi,
I would like to suggest you try these steps to figure out what could be causing this problem.
    1. Run Troubleshooter
Open the Search and Indexing troubleshooter
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Search-and-Indexing-troubleshooter
    2. Create a new library and include fewer folders for test purpose. Now search for a file from that folder. See if it works.
    Create a new library
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Create-a-new-library
    3. Try to rebuild search indexing. Refer the steps from the following article.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-advanced-indexing-options
Also you may use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to check the issue. The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
In addition, you may refer to the following Microsoft TechNet article for the Windows Search related Group Policies.
    Group Policy for Windows Search

    Hope it helps.

  • "Hyperion" menu item does not appear in Excel after SmartView Installation

Hi to all! When I first installed SmartView, everything was ok - "Hyperion" menu item appeared in Excel and I successfully established connection to Planning and worked with data in Excel. Then, once upon a time I happened to select all data through Ctrl+A in the data form open in Excel and tried to copy it to another worksheet in the same workbook, Excel threw out a message about some serious error and informed me that the Hyperion Add-on would be removed. So it was removed in fact. When I was reinstalling Smart-View, all the installation went smoothly but the "Hyperion" menu item did not appear in Excel again. I tried to reinstall both Excel and SmartView and rebooted the system several times but the Hyperion menu item still does not appear in Excel. Can anyone hint me on how to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, John! Thanks a lot! Your link led me to the thread in which the last post had the link Re: Smart View errors in Excel?! containing the "low-tech" 's instructions. It was these instructions that pulled me from underwater! Thank you so much and to that guy too! :)

  • Windows and icons are black, menu items are not showing correctly

    Hello!
Well just doing my normal routine today browsing the Internet, watching videos on vlc, my computer suddenly started to glitch. Icons were disappearing, Safari turned black.
So i did a restart but the problem is still there. I cant even choose the user properly because the avatars are not there it's just all dark gray. Remembering where my user avatar is, i do a click and type in my password and I do and able to get in to my system but all windows menu items and icons are black.
Basically what I'm saying is the system seems to be working fine except for that I can't see the icons and windows properly displayed.
I've already tried to reinstall of Mavericks hoping that it's a software thing. You guys think it's a problem with the graphic processor?
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated thank you.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed, as well as certain other aspects of the configuration that may have a bearing on the problem. Don’t be alarmed by the apparent complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode, if possible. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing. If you can only boot in safe mode, you can still use this procedure, but not all of it will work. Be sure to mention that in your reply, if you haven't already done so.
Below are instructions to enter UNIX shell commands. The commands are safe and do nothing but produce human-readable text output, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects. I am not asking you to trust me. If you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them.
The commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. Step 1 should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    { echo "Loaded kernel extensions:"; kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'; echo $'\n'"Loaded user agents:"; launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)|\.[0-9]+$/{print $3}'; echo $'\n'"Inserted libraries:"; launchctl getenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES; echo $'\n'"User cron tasks:"; crontab -l; echo $'\n'"System launchd configuration:"; cat /e*/lau*; echo $'\n'"User launchd configuration:"; cat .lau*; echo $'\n'"Login items:"; osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of login items' | sed $'s/, /\\\n/g'; echo $'\n'"Safari extensions:"; /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c Print L*/Saf*/*/E*.plist | awk -F'= ' '/Bundl/{print $2}' | sed 's/\..*$//;s/-[1-9]$//'; printf "\nRestricted user files: %s\n" $(find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) | wc -l); echo $'\n'"Extrinsic loadable bundles:"; cd; find -L /S*/L*/E* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,In,Keyb,Mail/Bu,P*P,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo}* -type d -name Contents -prune | while read d; do /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c 'Print :CFBundleIdentifier' "$d/Info.plist" | egrep -qv "^com\.apple\.[^x]|Accusys|ArcMSR|ATTO|HDPro|HighPoint|driver\.stex|hp-fax|JMicron|print|SoftRAID" && echo ${d%/Contents}; done; echo $'\n'"Unsigned shared libraries:"; find /u*/{,*/}lib -type f -exec sh -c 'file -b $1 | grep -qw shared && ! codesign -v $1' {} {} \; -print; echo; ls -A {,/}L*/{La,Priv,Sta}* L*/Fonts; } 2> /dev/null | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
The command may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A TextEdit window will open with the output. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
Remember that you must be logged in as an administrator for this step. Do as in Step 1 with this line:
    { echo "Loaded system agents:"; sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo $'\n'"Login hook:"; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo $'\n'"Root cron tasks:"; sudo crontab -l; echo $'\n'"Log check:"; syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|pagin|timed? ?o' | tail | awk '/:/{$4=""; print}'; } 2> /dev/null | open -ef
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    You can then quit Terminal.
To prevent confusion, I'll repeat: When you type your password in the Terminal window, you won't see what you're typing.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, set one before taking Step 2. If that’s not possible, skip the step.
Important: If any personal information, such as your name or email address, appears in the output of these commands, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
Remember, Steps 1 and 2 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output as text, not as a screenshot.
Please post the contents of the TextEdit window, not the Terminal window.

  • Help menu items not available Logic Pro 9

I think this problem occured after upgrading to Mavericks. When I use the help menu in LogicPro9 and click on the most relevant keywords that I have typed I am presented with a dialog that indicates: "The selected topic is currently unavailable. The topic you were trying to view could not be found."
I think this may be related to Spotlight not being indexed properly. After having problems re-indexing Spotlight I finally realised that in order for Spotlight to re-index correctly I had to add my permanently installed SD card to the Spotlight Privacy eclusion list. Instead of Spotlight taking 5+ hours to re-index a fast SSD it now did it in about 10mins.
I am now confident Spotlight has re-indexed successfully.
But the help menu items are still "unavailable"
    OSX 10.9.1
    MacBookPro Mid 2012
    Logic Pro 9.1.8

I'm still putting this question out there to anyone who can help solve this problem. After trashing the Logic Pro9 App from the Finder>Applications I visited the Mac App Store and under the Purchases icon I re-installed Logic Pro9.
The Help menu is still returning:
"The topic you were trying to view could not be found." when clicking on the suggested returned results in relation to my search keywords.
I know there are better resources out there but I find it handy to use the help menu instead of reaching for a book or website/weblink.
Eventually I will switch to Logic Pro X but as Lennar Digital is still finalising their 64Bit version release of Sylenth (popular soft synth)  I will wait until that is completed later in the year.

  • Custom menu item not appearing in HTML5 Output

I'm trying to add a custom menu item to the top right of a project, it shows up fine in the flash output of a published SCORM file, but it's non-existent in the HTML5 output.
Has anyone experienced this issue, or have any suggestions for a solution?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I did it through the Skin Editor in Captivate, it is not an external flash menu...I wouldn't expect it to convert flash to html5.  Through the skin editor you can add extra buttons, in the same place you can move the table of contents button, to the "top right".  The problem is, the custom menu items won't even show the text where the link should be in html5, nothing... only when published to flash.

  • Various Menu items greyed out

Most of the Insert menu items are not available. I'm in
Design view, place the cursor in a table cell (for example) and go
to Insert > Image and it's grayed out. So are most of the other
    items.
Note, that this only affects certain documents. If I create a
new document and repeat the process, things work fine. This
existing ASP page is giving me the trouble.
    Using Dreamweaver CS4 / Mac OS 10.5
I should also add that this problem page isn't a template, so
it's not an editable region thing.
    Any ideas?

Start by backing up the user/Library/Application Support/Addressbook folder.
In that folder is a file called AddressBook-v22.abcddb. Delete that and start address book. That will delete the index and have AB recreate it. I don't know if that is the problem, but may be.
On a different tack, download and install the 10.6.3 combo updater. It may fix what is broken. However, most problems are data-related, not the application itself.
Can you log into a different user and open Address Book? Just create a new user account for testing, if there isn't another. I keep one just for checking stuff like this. Checking in a different user will tell us if it is a system-wide problem, or just that one particular user.

  • How to hide/disable menu items using Javascript in Acrobat 9 pro or later

We just wanted to know on how to hide/disable menu items for e.g. 'Open' menu item under 'File' menu in Acrobat 9 or later on Mac using Javascript. It would be useful if you could provide if any other option is in place already.

Not sure it will work, but you can try using the app.hideMenuItem() method. See reference here.
