am using http://www.gurge.com/amd/java/quantize/src/Quantize.java for quantization. also am using Acme.JPM.Encoders.GifEncoder for gifencoding
It ignores certain colors(replace it with black or grey) while converting to gif and some o/p images look akward.I cant get whats wrong .Any tips or suggestions
It will be great if I get a good comment
Thanks in advance

You could use ImageObserver for the width and height. They are -1 until the image is fully loaded. With ImageObserver your app will be notified when the dimensions are ready.

    I have created images in java. Now i want to convert this image into a gif/jpeg file so that i can save this gif/jpeg file in one particular folder on the system & also show the same file to the user.

    use
    javax.imageio.ImageIO.write

    please help me to convert an image into gif format. i have used sun's impl com.sun.image.code.jpeg package to convert a buffered image into a jpeg file. is there any implementatioln available from sun to handle gif files.

    Many. Try for instance google with 'java image encoders'. Go to the URL http://www.google.com/search?q=java+image+encoders and be amazed of the wonders of modern web search tools.

    Art,
    I am trying to follow your very precise steps, and in my case (PSE11 also, Win7), the focus stays on the edited picture after I return from the editor to the Organizer. I am pretty sure that in the previous post describing your situation, I was able to reproduce the problem, but I don't remember on which version. I just tried in 'Folders' view mode to edit in a selected folder, then I clicked 'All media' so that no folder was selected. Same result in both cases.
    Even if you prefer to work in folders view, you could take advantage of the ability to use 'albums'. It's a misleading word to describe a selection, a 'collection' of pictures, which you can sort as you want. It's a kind of  'playlist' like with music items. In the organizer, you can select a folder and create an album (even a temporary one) just by choosing 'create instant album'. Suppose you have made an album from a folder or a selection of highlighted pictures to edit. You can order them in date order, import batch or 'custom' order'. Since PSE12 you can also sort them in filename order. You should never lose the 'focus' on your last edited picture when coming back from the editor to the organizer. If the purpose of that album is only to help in organizing an editing session, you simply delete the album (the playlist) if you don't want to keep the list afterward.
    I hope someone will be able to confirm how that can happen...
    Edit;
    I have just read Brian's post.
    That may be the difference...

    you convert your gif to a swf and you're not happy with the conversion?
    if yes, either look for different conversion software, check for info on your current conversion software or don't convert and load your gif into your swf:  http://creative-geeks.com/blog/2010/06/30/using-animating-gifs-in-flex-and-flash/

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Image Processor not converting files to sRGB Profile

    I have been experiencing a problem with Photoshop CS3 Image Processor no longer converting profiles to sRGB.   It converts all of the files from Camera Raw to JPEG, but not sRGB as well.  I used to be able to batch convert an entire folder of RAW images to JPEG, sRGB through the Image Processor.
    My Photoshop CS3 Working Space is Adobe RGB (1998).  I need to convert an entire folder of images selected in Bridge to sRGB working space in order to publish a photo album from one of the on-line publishing companies.  I can open each individual Camera Raw file in Photoshop and convert each to JPEG, sRGB, but this takes a tremendous amount of time.
    The following procedure has worked for me in the past, but for some reason no longer works:
    I select the images in the desired Bridge CS3 folder.  Upper tool bar, "Tools" > "Photoshop" > "Image Processor".  In Image Processor:
    Section 1 - ""Process files from Bridge only (11)"  Whether or not I place a checkmark by "Open first image to apply settings", it makes no difference in the outcome.
    Section 2:  "Save in same location"
    Section 3 - "Checkmark by "Save as JPEG, quality 12".  Also a checkmark by "Convert Profile to sRGB"
    Section 4 - Checkmark by "Include ICC Profile"
    I replaced my iMac one month ago and reinstalled Photoshop CS3, but this Image Processor problem had been occurring even with my old computer.
    Not sure if you need this information:
    I'm currently on Mac OS X Version 10.6.4
    Processor:  2.93 Ghz Intel Core i7
    Memory:  8 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
    I don't know if it's related,  Photoshop CS3 on my old computer was running in Rosetta.  I don't know if it's running in Rosetta now, the name does not appear when Photoshop boots up.  How do I get it to run in Rosetta again?

    Heh heh heh.  It's always true that we find the answer just after making public our problems, which in turn we did after trying to find the problems ourselves for hours.
    Thanks for following up with the answer.

  • How to make this image compatible as a laser cut file by changing stroke colour?

    My final aim with this image is to make it compatible as a laser cut raster engrave design, so the laser cutter will fill the black areas or white (either would be fine). If this is not possible then even as a laser cut outline would be suitable
    This is how the image will look when in Illustrator. however when I use the preview screen (ctrl+y) it creates an outline. This is how the laser cutter will read the image which is why it is very important the preview image is is what i would expect the final outcome to be.
    As a raster the laser cutter requires the stroke line to be blue r:0 g:0 B:255. Currently I cannot edit the colour, yet I can change the stroke weight. Also how I would I fill the engraved areas as a stroke? At the moment when I try converting the stroke to blue it turns grey.
    I am also unsure as to how I would make this feasible even to be cut out when I cannot change the stroke colour to red. This is required for laser cut designs as the laser cutter reads red lines to be cut.
    I can usually change stroke colours easily so I assume this is due to the fact that I have brought this file through from Photoshop so it is not yet fullu editable. I have used the live trace and live paint function in illustrator so far.
    Any help would be appreciated

    You need to expand the artwork and convert the strokes to genuine outlines to in turn be able to apply anotehr thin stroke to them again...

  • Print label image in GIF format returned by Web Service XML string.

    Hi All
    I have extremely interesting situations and have been struggling with this for a past week. I have been looking everywhere but nobody seems to have an answer. This is my last resort.
    Detail -
    I am consuming UPS web service from my ABAP program. Everything works fine until I have to print UPS label.  The label image is returned to my ABAP program via XML by the UPS reply transaction as a GIF image.
    When I download this image to my PC I can see it and print it, but for the love of god I cannot print this image from my ABAP program. The GIF image is passed to me as a binary data string it looks like bunch on numbers - (2133FFDGFGFGFHHu2026..) very long string about 89800 bites. I cannot use smart forms since smart form requires to have graphic stored in  SAP before smart form print, so this is not possible. I need help figuring out how print GIF image form ABAP or any other SAP method dynamically.  Any ideas are extremely appreciated. I am just puzzled that I cannot find any info on something like this. I cannot be the first one who needs to print GIF image in SAP.

    Hi all,
    I understand this thread was started long back. But wanted to share this solution since I see the same question in many forums without any particular conclusive answer. So the steps I am explaining here, if it helps in some way, I will be really happy. I won't say this is the perfect solution. But it definitely helps us to print the images. This solution is infact implemented successfully in my client place & works fine.
    And please note there may be  better solutions definitely available in ECC6 or other higher releases. This solution is mainly for lesser versions, for people don't have ADOBE forms or other special classes.
    Important thing here is binary string is converted to postscript here. So you need to make sure your printer supports postscripts. (Ofcourse, if anybody is interested, they can do their R&D on PCL conversion in the same way...and pls let me know). Once the binary data is converted to postscript, we are going to write it in the binary spool. so you will still see junk characters (or numberssss) in spool. But when you print it in postscript printer , it should work.
    First step, assuming you have your binary data ready from tiff or pdf based on your requirement.
    Basically below compress/decompress function modules convert the binary data from lt_bin (structure TBL1024) to target_tab (structure SOLIX). From Raw 1024 to Raw 255
    DATA: aux_tab LIKE soli OCCURS 10. - temp table
    Compress table
                  CALL FUNCTION 'TABLE_COMPRESS'
                    TABLES
                      in             = lt_bin
                      out            = aux_tab
                    EXCEPTIONS
                      compress_error = 1
                      OTHERS         = 2.
    Decompress table
                  CALL FUNCTION 'TABLE_DECOMPRESS'
                    TABLES
                      in                   = aux_tab
                      out                  = target_tab
                    EXCEPTIONS
                      compress_error       = 1
                      table_not_compressed = 2
                      OTHERS               = 3.
    In my case, since I have to get it from archived data using function module, ARCHIV_GET_TABLE which gives RAW 1024, above conversion was necessary.
    Second step: Application server temporary files for tif/postscript files.
    We need two file names here for tif file & for converted postscript file. Please keep in mind, if you are running it in background, user should have authorization to read/write/delete this file.
    Logical file name just to make sure the file name is maintainable. Hard code the file name if you don't want to use logical file name.
                  CALL FUNCTION 'FILE_GET_NAME'
                    EXPORTING
                      logical_filename = 'ABCD'
                      parameter_1      = l_title
                      parameter_2      = sy-datum
                      parameter_3      = sy-uzeit
                    IMPORTING
                      file_name        = lv_file_name_init
                    EXCEPTIONS
                      file_not_found   = 1
                      OTHERS           = 2.
                  IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
            WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
                  ENDIF.
    Now concatenate with the different extensions to get two different files.
                  CONCATENATE lv_file_name_init '.tif' INTO lv_file_name_tif.
                  CONCATENATE lv_file_name_init '.ps' INTO  lv_file_name_ps.
    Third step: Write the target_tab to tif file.
    Open dataset for writing the tif file.
                  OPEN DATASET lv_file_name_tif FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE.
                  IF NOT sy-subrc IS INITIAL.
                    RAISE open_failed.
                  ELSE.
                    LOOP AT target_tab INTO w_target_tab.
                      CATCH SYSTEM-EXCEPTIONS dataset_write_error = 1
                                              OTHERS = 4.
                        TRANSFER w_target_tab TO lv_file_name_tif.
                      ENDCATCH.
                      IF NOT sy-subrc IS INITIAL.
                        RAISE write_failed.
                      ENDIF.
                    ENDLOOP.
                    CATCH SYSTEM-EXCEPTIONS dataset_cant_close = 1
                                            OTHERS = 4.
                      CLOSE DATASET lv_file_name_tif.
                    ENDCATCH.
                  ENDIF.
    Fourth Step: Convert the tiff file to postscript file.
    This is the critical step. Create an external command (SM49/SM69) for this conversion. In this example, Z_TIFF2PS is created. Infact, I did get help from our office basis gurus in this. so I don't have the exact code of this unix script. You can refer the below link or may get some help from unix gurus.
    http://linux.about.com/library/cmd/blcmdl1_tiff2ps.htm
    Since my external command needs .ps file name and .tif file name as input, concatenate it & pass it as additional parameter. Command will take care of the conversion & will generate the .ps file.
       CONCATENATE lv_file_name_ps lv_file_name_tif INTO lw_add SEPARATED BY space.
    Call the external command with the file paths.
                  CALL FUNCTION 'SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE'
                    EXPORTING
                      commandname           = 'Command name'
                      additional_parameters = lw_add
                    TABLES
                      exec_protocol         = t_comtab.
    Fifth step: Read the converted ps file and convert it to RAW 255.
      DATA:lw_content TYPE xstring.
    Open dataset for reading the postscript (ps) file
                  OPEN DATASET lv_file_name_ps FOR INPUT IN BINARY MODE.
    Check whether the file is opened successfully
                  IF NOT sy-subrc IS INITIAL.
                    RAISE open_failed.
                  ELSE.
                    READ DATASET lv_file_name_ps INTO lw_content.
                  ENDIF.
    Close the dataset
                  CATCH SYSTEM-EXCEPTIONS dataset_cant_close = 1
                                          OTHERS = 4.
                    CLOSE DATASET lv_file_name_ps.
                  ENDCATCH.
    Make sure you delete the temporary files so that you can reuse the same names again & again for next conversions.
                  DELETE DATASET lv_file_name_tif.
                  DELETE DATASET lv_file_name_ps.
    Convert the postscript file to RAW 255
                  REFRESH target_tab.
                  CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
                    EXPORTING
                      buffer     = lw_content
                    TABLES
                      binary_tab = target_tab.
    Sixth step: Write the postscript data to binary spool by passing the correct print parameters.
                  IF NOT target_tab[] IS INITIAL.
                    PERFORM spo_job_open_cust USING l_device
                                                         l_title

                    ENDLOOP.
                    PERFORM spo_job_close(saplstxw) USING l_handle
                                                          l_pages.
                    IF sy-subrc EQ 0.

                       'Spools for'(019) lw_final-vbeln
                   'created successfully.Check transaction SP01'(020).
                    ENDIF.
                  ENDIF.

    Thats it. We are done. If you open the spool, still you will see numbers/junk characters. if you print it in postscript printer, it will be printed correctly. If you try to print it PCL, you will get lot of pages wasted since it will print all junk characters. So please make sure you use postscript printer for this.

  • Show through the image ?

    Hi,
    I have a GIF image and I draw it using drawimage API on a JPanel using its Graphics object passed to painComponent(). The problem is that I downloaded the image from web and there are white areas (white background) surrounding this image which I want to get rid of i.e. the existing background should show through those areas instead. Any ideas ? I don't want to edit the image to match its background with the existing background since that will be a hack which will break if I change the original background.
    _ Thanks

    If you have some kind of a image editing application, you should edit your gif file and set the transparency color. I personally use microsoft photo editor to do that.

  • File does not exist: /export/home/oracle/orahtml/marvel/images/spacer.gif

    Seeing this error in the apache log:
    File does not exist: /export/home/oracle/orahtml/marvel/images/spacer.gif
    I know there are spacer.gif files under the theme folders but why is it looking for a spacer.gif file in the images folder? Is this a bug?

    Hello,
    Yes I just checked it's a problem with theme 9 there are a couple of places where the theme calls #IMAGE_PREFIX#spacer.gif when it should call #IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_9/spacer.gif
    There are two ways for you to fix this
    1. Copy themes/theme_9/spacer.gif to the top level images directory, I recommend this one because then if someone creates the theme from the repository again it wont' come up agian.
    2. Change all #IMAGE_PREFIX#spacer.gif to #IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_9/spacer.gif in theme 9, if you export the theme you can just us a search and replace the export to do this and then reapply the theme.
    This as been bugged and will get fixed in future version.

  • How to show an image(jpg/gif) on a JTabbedPanel

    Hi
    I tried to show an image on a JPanel of a JTabbedPanel.
    I the only way to show it for some time was this:
    in the StateChangedListener I use drawImage when the selected panel is teh one I want to draw the image at.
    Tracing code makes the panel show, burt when I step
    all the way up, the panel will be repainted without my image.
    I use mediatracker to get the image loaded.
    Any Idea
    Hanns

    JTabbedPane has components as its tabs. Using a JPanel is not mandatory. Try using a JLabel instead with an Icon (use ImageIcon) in it.
    JTabbedPane tabbed = new JTabbedPane();
    tabbed.addTab(
        "my image panel",
        new JLabel( new ImageIcon( "images/MyIcon.gif" ) )
    );if your were referring to the image of the little tabs, use this:
    JTabbedPane tabbed = new JTabbedPane();
    tabbed.addTab(
        "my tab",
        new ImageIcon( "images/MyImage.gif" ),
        myPanel // instance of Component, can be a JPanel or any JComponent you want.
    );

    Scanning in Mavericks? I can no longer use the scanning function in my HP Officejet 4500.
    HP says to go through Preview, Image Capture, or Print/Scan in System Prefs.
    Still doesn't work. Any ideas/similar experiences?

    Sure it is, yet it's called HP LaserJet Professional M1210nf MFP Series *
    Today, I followed your other advice, and deleted the printer, deleted the /Library/Printer/hp folder, downloaded the entire set of driver, re-installed the printer twice, once with the driver, once with Bonjour.
    The Bonjour Printer has the scan option active, but it is doesn't work (refer to above.), it is called M1217nfw
    The Apple Driver Printer doesn't show the scan option at all, it is called M1217nf (as on the http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP list.) This model number doesn't exist, as far as I can tell.
    Still, everything works perfectly in Snow Leopard, for a MF printer that has been manufactured years after Snow Leopard was released.
    Why going up in software version means going backwards in compatiblity for brand new product is really the question that puzzles me here.

  • Displaying image in pdf format - what is this image format?

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where I need to embed an image in a pdf report that gets generated in BIP. The image is passed as a byte array from an external application , that BIP should recieve as a parameter and display it. The byte array looks very similar to the image that rtf generates when an image is pasted in it and the default xsl-fo template and style-sheet is created usign the BIP Word Plugin.
    The issue that I am facing is that, the byte-code is not getting displayed as an image in the pdf.
    When I pasted the image for the corresponding byte code in an rtf and generated the default xslfo file that BIP plugin generates, I am getting a different set of charecters than what is being send to BIP as parameter.
    I have read about CLOB and BLOB being queried from database using sql and displayed as image.
    I would like to know what exactly is the BIP Plugin converting the image to , when I paste it in an rtf and convert it to xsl-fo style sheet.
    If I have not made my query very clear and you are still confused about what I am talking about , please try this out in an rtf template.
    1) Open blank rtf template
    2) Paste any tiff or jpg image in your rtf template and save it.
    3) Goto Addin --> Tools --> Export --> Click on FO Formated XML or XSL FO Style sheet in the Menu
    4) An xml document will be opened in your default browser.
    5) Scroll down to the section with the tag " <fo:instream-foreign-object"
    6) Will see a big charecter set, which I believe is some form of representation of the image pasted in the rtf.
                   <fo:block>
                             <fo:instream-foreign-object
                             content-type="image/png"
                             width="163.5375pt"
                             height="53.07pt"
                             xdofo:alt="An Image"
                             xdofo:image-uid="fbasadsadaferehgffhghd1dvcxab9">
                             <xsl:value-of select="$Logo3"/>
                             </fo:instream-foreign-object>
                   </fo:block>
    WHERE $Logo3 is declared as parameter and
    = /9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAgEAYABgAAD/7Q0YUGhvdG9zaG9wIDMuMAA4QklNA+0KUmVz b2x1dGlvbgAAAAAQAGAAAAABAAEAYAAAAAEAAThCSU0EDRhGWCBHbG9iYWwgTGln aHRpbmcgQW5nbGUAAAAABAAAAHg4QklNBBkSRlggR2xvYmFsIEFsdGl0dWRlAAAA ................................................goes on!!! [ 200000+ charecters]
    I would like to know what this image type is? Is this a byte array?
    If any one has had this and successfully taclkled this sort of requirement please help!!!
    Any pointers, explanations in this regard would be really helpful
    Thanks in advance
    Sujith

  • Please help me identify the filters used in this image

    Hey there folks!
    I currently have a contract with a lingerie company, who want me to make a collage quite similar to the following image, which they have provided me with. Mine will be obviously much different, but the same idea...a little boutique shop front but with Paris in the backgrounds etc with one colour and lots of glowing lights and stars.
    What I am wondering, as I am quite new to Photoshop collages (I usually use it for retouching images etc), is how was this image put together, what kind of effects were used? How many different images have been used in this one?
    So far I have a street lamp, a shop front, a girl, and an image of Paris at night. I'm especially unsure about how to do that circular gradient around the image - and the company are absolutely mad for it!
    Thanks so much folks!

    The image is a bit small to judge, but it could have been shot with the lamp and storefront as props on a reflective flooring and even the background might have been in the studio – the last one I doubt, though, because it does not reflect in the floor.
    Anyway, if you do make a montage I personally find it important to
    • combine the parts as Smart Objects,
    • do the object-clipping with Layers Masks in the Smart Objects and
    • use Adjustment Layers for color corrections.
    As for
    glowing lights and stars
    stars are fairly easily faked (if one has low enough standards) with a white Solid Color Layer set to Blend Mode Dissolve and the Opacity and Fill Opacity reduced accordingly; for different sizes convert to Smart Object, duplicate and upscale.
    Glows can be done various ways. For example making a SO-duplicate, using the Filters Maximum and Gaussian Blur and setting the layer to Blend Mode Screen (if necessary use the Blend If-settings to limit the effect).

  • PSE12: How to create gridlines on the image page then converted into a pdf? [was: N276]

    I want to download an image from the internet, for example, batman, create gridlines on the image page then converted into a pdf.  where on adobe photo shop element 12 can I do this.

    On way is to define a pattern:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/875370?tstart=0
    Another way is this neat free grid generator filter:
    http://www.richardrosenman.com/software/downloads/
    1. Add a blank layer above the picture layer, fill with white, and set Blend Mode to Multiply.
    2. Apply the filter. There are many options. Here I chose black lines on white background with 20 square boxes across. Note that the background should be pure white (255,255,255) so as not to change the original picture.
    You can also find lots of grid images on the Internet, for example a Google search on "grid" or "grid paper". As in the previous method, add this image above your picture and set its Blend Mode to Multiply.  Again, the background should be pure white.
